One of our favorite mountain bike trails, I use the red loop for warm up the hit all the other loops. You can be there all day and not ride the same loop twice.
Pretty area, the trails have lots of rocks and roots though. Seemed to be maintained pretty well.
One of my favorite trail systems. Always updated and semi technical trail to ride.
This place is a hidden gem for Springfield residents. Its got a wide variety of trail lengths up to 5 miles that each go into the forest following a river. While mainly used for biking, these trails are great for hiking and far surpass Lake Springfield or any other park in the area. On a busy day you may only see 10 or so cars which is really nice if you are used to a busy park. We normally take the blue path around the entire forest and hike for roughly 2 or 3 hours. Throughout the hike there are a couple areas to sit down in a secluded opening, and there are a few maps along the path to help you not get lost. Although some of the trails can be confusing if you forget to pay attention to the map, all of the trails are marked which makes it easier. Anyone who loves to get into nature but rarely does because they live in the city, go out to the Sac river and explore their nature trails - you wont be disappointed.
Awesome trail system for all levels. Really rocky. Not very much elevation change.
It is what it is. Great trail when its dry. But please for the love of all things holy...its like a rocky slip-n-slide after it rains. Lots of trail options packed into a small area.
Really fun and exciting. Take an experienced rider with you or you could get lost.
Very nice trails. Easy to walk. Very few steep spots.
Took a 2 mile as we didnt have a lot of time before it got dark. The trail had a good rut in it from mountain biking but it is still wide enough to comfortably hike. We past some good scenery of the stream/river and saw some wild life towards the end. We are planning to go back during an earlier part of the day and picking a longer route. There is a bathroom and a shelter for use at the trailhead. Turn off on the highway sneaks up on you, be sure to keep a careful eye on your GPS to know the distance for your turn.
It was fun to ride today. I think they need to lay some dirt out there to make it a lil smoother. I rode the blue trail all the way threw with a one speed cruiser. Not too bad thou.
Good place to ride or hike
Had a wonderful time hiking with the pup. This a great trail system because you can make it a short or a long trip depending on how you take the trails. I believe there is a total of 35+ miles of trails. The trails are well maintained and fairly easy to navigate. There is opportunity for more signage to help navigate the trails but overall this area is beautiful and I will be visiting again.
Lovely afternoon in late January. Plenty warm for an easy afternoon trail run. A little mud. A few runners, hikers and mountain bikers. Mostly peace and quiet. Enough water from the springs to fill the rills and creeks, but not so much that my feet got wet. The ideal spot to escape the winter blahs just 5 minutes from town.
Good place for running and biking, beautiful area and beautiful views. Normally not packed
A good trail system for mountain bikes. I mean mountain bikes too, might puncture a tire. Take your time and enjoy the path. Lots of rock to negotiate on the path. A real variety of paths you ride on with the blue loop. Took my 11 year old boy on it for his first ride. It was challenging but manageable for his skill level for 4 miles on the blue loop.
Great trails for exercise. Hiking, fishing, or mountain biking. Cant wait for the dirt 66 project to connect to ozark greenway and more trails around fellows lake.
One of my favorites
Great place for a Mtn bike ride or hike. Trails can be technical, but not super hard. Fun for everyone, beginners and experts alike.
Rocky, rooty and buggy are a few things that come to mind when thinking about sac river. This makes for fun challenging rides without too many extended climbs. Theres a few smooth flowy sections if thats your thing and if tech is what gets you going theres plenty of rock ledges and tight corners to play around with. Be sure to bring bug spray and watch out for the hedge apples that cover the ground! I saw one on the trail just this week but they are really prevalent when fall comes around.
This is a great little mountain biking, hiking and trail running Park just north of Springfield. Well marked, hard to get lost. This is the granddaddy trail of the region.
Fantastic bike trail, and hidden gem for photographers
A great place to ride, mostly XC style trails, a lot of fun.
Very nice bike trail/hiking trail. Easy hiking trails for beginners!
Fun network of trails that gets better the more you ride it and become familiar with it. Over the last couple years the signage and drainage have been improved. Some fun downhill rocky sections on the blue loop (counter clockwise) and yellow trail (South to north). Not much elevation so no tough climbs to grind out. Plenty of thorns so running tubeless tires is recommended.
Super nice trail.
Good trails. Maintained well.
Nice spot near town to mountain bike or trail jog. Sure beats pounding pavement.
Went for my first time today 9/7/17. Just getting into mountain biking this year and these trails were more than what I expected. Super fun for a beginner. I stuck to the red and green trails because I didnt have much time and did not have a spare tube. No puncture for me. Had a lot of fun and ended up taking the same route a second time. Had the whole place to myself. Will go again and plan to bring a friend and make a day out of it. Conditions were very dry so had no problems. Had AT&T cell signal throughout.
Beautiful place to picnic
Great trails for everyone!
Extremely easy to get lost. The signs are crooked and you cant tell which direction is pointing where. Im only giving it 3 stars because the water at the beginning is nice for us to let our dog play in. The rest of the trail is not marked well. For swimming, sure. Trails? No. Have fun getting lost.
Nice trails not a lot of people.
Good place to ride
This is a great trail!
Dont ride when its muddy
Great for trail running near Springfield without investing in drive time. Trail signage isnt always obvious, so its best to run with the map on your phone.
Great place close to town: mountain bike, hike, or bring the pup. Must bring a spare tire! GPS works great for tracking where you are.
Very well maintained. Trails are clear. Trails from easy to very challenging.
It was a fun little hike. There were some good views and lots of vegetation. The trail isnt very wide, so if you ate going to hike be aware of bikes at corners!
It is a really great place to take your animals on a nice hike and/or he can go mountain biking there and the trails are really great.
This little park is a real hidden gem of Springfield. Theres a cool old barn and silo built in 1908 to check out at the beginning of the trails. The trails themselves run along Dry Sac River and have some great views. Theyre also paved as far as Ive walked on them thus far. Youll find the trails more than long enough for a good bike ride around some good neighborhoods. The bridges flood over often after rain, and with the fairly dull rocks, easy to walk around in and enjoy the water. Highly recommend this place.
Perfect place for technical climbs and descents
Ok Im only leaving this because I dont know can you fish down there and if so has anyone caught anything I know I probably will not get notified if some one responded but if someone could tell me this info that would be great
I love going here after work. Very close to the north side of town. Not a lot of elevation gain, but still challenging and technical trail close to home.
I love this trail! There are two directions you can take. One into the woods is nice a rugged, but not hard, the only hard part is navigating. It can get a little tricky to find your way back. The other direction goes onto gravel and then over a bridge to a beautiful lake. Keep going and it leads up to an archery area and a playground, or you can go off trail into more woods. Its a very exciting ride with so many things to see and tons of wildlife. My favorite spot in Springfield.
Awesome spot to ride!!
Great trails take a tube
By far the best place on the borth side of springfield for mountain biking.
Great trail to mountain bike, trail run, or hike! Trail is well maintained and new trail is added every year or so!
Saw deer. Wonderful experience.
Great variety of trail... always fun... never dull
Close to town. Lots of trail choices(though not real long). I prefer to trail run at Sac. Thorns everywhere so you can almost guarantee a flat tire if on a mountain bike running tubes.
Old school single track, great to see it still around.
Nice bike trails.
The trails were beautiful, but I left there with multiple ticks, it was awful.
Great riding! Beautiful!
Trails weren’t clearly marked
Bike, run, and hike
Live it
Wonderful trail system!!!
Awesome trails!
Awesome trails
I love it
Great MTB trail!!!
Very good time
Go there everyday!
Its just not marked well at all.
Love it!
Just north of Springfield, MO, this hidden gem is an excellent place for mountain biking and anyone that wants to explore or go on a hike. I cant believe I havent made it here before now. Its a great place to get away for a few hours or an entire day. Open around 8am I highly recommend taking a hike or ride around opening and spending a few hours to check out the local wild life and go for enough in to get away from the worries of the world. See if you can find the mountain bike center of it all, very cool little spot inside the trails.
