I am going to go out on a limb and say I doubt any higher up from Westgate will read this, but here goes. I also should preface this in saying that I did read ALL the reviews and I gave them the benefit of the doubt with being so negative. Now is one of those shoulda, would, could moments.I became an almost owner in Orlando back in May. I purchased a vacation trial package through Westgate Lakes in order to be able to see our first granddaughter there in Orlando. We thought through the Professional Sales Pitch we would have access to the other Westgate resorts in Orlando as part of the package, but nooo. I was informed during our tour/sales pitch in Myrtle Beach that the package I had purchased in Florida was not all that the Professional Salesmen had said it was.We arrive in Myrtle Beach and expected a possible parking issue due to Labor Day weekend. We arrived on Sunday prior to Monday Labor Day. We were put up in the newer tower. Unloading area at the time was a joke. Had to park across the street in a lot that more than likely is not patrolled due it not being part of onsite property. Made it into our two bedroom unit.Description on website said Master bedroom, bedroom 2 and living room would have balconies. Well surprise, the master bedroom does not have a balcony. Seeing how I am almost an owner you would think they would have almost informed me of that prior to sending us up to our incomplete room. Quite upset about that. Then on Tuesday morning, we all wake up to parking hellmagedon. They have finally decided to finish one of their delayed projects. They took over half the onsite parking and fenced it off. No mention of this to any of the guests. Quite shady! Whomever the Westgate executive who made that decision should have to answer to all us little paying minions. Decision made and executed quite well by the construction crew but the staff left the guests high and dry. No communication to the guests, no info on golf cart shuttle do to having to park off site and with the future rain coming in. Again we are given the proverbial finger and shaft up the wazoo because of lack of communication on the behalf of the staff at Westgate Myrtle Beach. Even the staff members I complained to had no clue. Also our personal concierge had no clue. Talk about leaving everyone in the dark Westgate higher ups. Congratulations, you did this one thing quite well! The General Manager should be ashamed of his or her self. Of course the only concern of the staff was the big weekend and the amount of money they were going to make. Communication is definitely not one of their strong suits!!! I am sorry to say I bought into this mistake. The package I was sold by the Professional Salesmen in Florida did not match up with the perfect sales person we encountered in Myrtle Beach. I feel I was LIED to by the Professional Salesmen at Westgate Lakes. The sand was still there. The surf was still surfing. The sun shone upon us a few of our 7 days we were there. Outside we enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Inside the property was not good. Construction going on everywhere and just a plain inconvenience. But Westgate still got everyones money and that is what they are all about. David Siegel or any member of his family, I hope you are proud of what you have developed??? I know I am not and if I could have a do over I would definitely not have taken a step towards semi ownership and will not in the future. After the fiasco of restarting this parking deck project, which has been in the works for YEARS, there comes other issues. They put up a construction fence all around. Closing of the pet area. Closing in a bunch of luggage carts. Forrest Gump said people would be like this, Stupid is as stupid does! The management nor the construction people had foresight to move the luggage carts. It is quite comical when you think about it!!! Getting back to the dogs, now there is no grass close for the dogs to go. Naturally a dog will go pretty much wherever they want. So now the dogs along with their owners approval are dropping large tootsie
I would pass and stay somewhere more relaxing and worth the money. You cant enjoy your balcony because of renovations. Im ok with that only because I read reviews and prepared my mind for that. However, I was unaware when booking months ago for our anniversary. Most importantly the shower is less than acceptable. The water has little pressure and goes in and out spraying and not spraying. Taking a shower is extensive due to the matter. The rooms and halls need serious remodeling. Do not sign up for the time share presentation; your day will be waisted. If you say no to buying in they get mad and keep asking why and dont take no for an answer. Then they will send a second attacker the manager the cycle then repeats. After you will have to fight to get your $60 credit for participating. Parking is AWFUL!! We had to park two blocks away in a deserted lot. They would not pick us up because city law doesnt allow carts during evening hours. Remind you at this point that you are charged a $60 resort fee, but you have to park way off site on their property (randomn parking lot). In this area I am scared my car will be vandalized or broke into. What if you are attacked walking back to the resort. I have stress fractures and was told I can park with my handicapp tag. I reminded staff that an injury does not make someone eligible for a handicapp tag/plate. I will definitely not stay here or recommend. Hygiene items are equivalent to Dollar Tree brand products. Happy Anniversary to us at the most ratchettville!!
Stayed here for 4 nights in the 2000 building. Booked a room. Stayed away from the timeshare sale and was not bothered by the staff at all concerning it at all. All the staff was courteous and helpful. They communicate with you through text as well as in person. I liked this because there were questions I had while I was out and about that I could get answers to right away. The room was comfortable and clean. Westgate has a million activities for kids. A great gym. Beautiful pool. Beach front. I really couldn’t ask for more. There is construction going on currently and it was a bit noisy during the day. I would highly recommend this place for your next family trip and I’m sure I’ll stay there again.
It was a great room and service but dont let them fool u with the free lunch its ANOTHER time share seminar that will last FOREVER.. They completely wasted our day again. Other than that its a good place to stay. the workers are just doing their job it just sucks.
Asked for ocean view when booking... I’m currently looking at parking lot under construction.. when I asked it they said they only have coastal views.... this requires me to stick my head out of the balcony and look left .... how awful
So I booked online and paid online for a king room ocean view, when I arrived I had to pay $12 fee to have full acess to the place, but not a dang thing was open, I paid for a king room ocean view but was given 2 queens no balcony use and then after my long day of driving I had to be harassed by the concierge that I had no choice but to communicate with because he gave me my parking pass. I had thought about maybe doing the tour but was lied to so when I said nevermind, he proceeded to question my boyfriend even as he tried to walk away and then every time we had to walk through the lobby the man gave us dirty looks and tried to intimidate. I am not at all impressed nor will I ever come here again.
As an owner I am very disappointed with this resort. The room we were put in is outdated with old appliances. Some even had rust on them. If this is what the newer building rooms looks like I would hate to see what the older building rooms look like. The king bed has a very noticeable dip in the middle of the mattress. We spoke to someone at the front desk about it and they made a joke about our concern. I’m still waiting for someone to get back back with me. Don’t waste your money here buying.
We were roped into doing a timeshare tour for free breakfast and tickets to a dinner show. After we waited for over 30 minutes to get the reservation and another 30 minutes after we arrived, they tell us we dont qualify. Its a shame, because we were thinking of buying a timeshare here. Otherwise we have truly loved our trip. Stay away from Westgate#
Stayed here 11/13/2020 - 11/15/2020. Room was 2043B. TV in bedroom did not work. Screen would randomly go black and was unable to see anything. Resort sales staff was nicer than the staff that worked at the hotel. We arrived really late on Friday night after 11pm to check in so on Saturday night we asked if we could have late check out on Sunday. Front desk advised they would only give us an extra hour and that was it but they advised we could ask again in the morning to see if they would do anything else. I asked again on Sunday morning and they front desk lady advised no. They NEVER give more than an extra hour and ESPECIALLY not on weekends and we had to be out by 11am. She came across VERY RUDE and ANNOYED that I was even bothering her to ask about it. So we just rushed ourselves to meet the 11am checkout since they were unwilling and uncaring about why we even needed the extra time to check out. Well, I guess they really wanted us gone by 10am anyway as they cut off our access keys right at 10am so we could not access the elevators nor get back to our room. So part of the extra hour they gave us was used running back to the other building to get the room access keys reauthorized. My son did that and when he got back he said the front desk woman was annoyed with him. Well, I guess helping guests is annoying because that is all we were asking for was a little help. I only give this two stars because the sales staff that were there trying to sell timeshares for this location were pleasant and nice the entire weekend.
Overall pretty disappointed with our stay.We arrived and there was almost no convenient parking due to all the construction going on.Also - construction ended at 8:30pm our first night and started at 6:30am the next morning. The room we stayed in had a faucet come off the bathtub, floors scratched and just overall dated. We quickly realized that this vacation was becoming more work and stress than just hanging out at home and we ended up leaving 2-days early.Id steer clear.
First off, the staff was great but the overall experience was poor. We paid for a beach balcony, 2 queen room for three nights. We got 2 doubles, a blocked off balcony with a barely visible view, and no room service (for any of our stay). They make you pay for WiFi and beach amenities upon arrival but that doesn’t include the umbrellas and chairs they set out for guests. On our last morning, there was construction being done (on the roof and balconies). The noise was so jolting we couldn’t stay in the room. When asked for help finding the hot tub, we were told it was a private hot tub for VIP members only. Overall, I would not recommend the stay for the hotel establishment but the people were incredibly engaging and welcoming.
This hotel was perfect for our trip down to drop off my nephew at Coastal Carolina. It is right on the beach, cool bar and Drafts Restaurant was amazing. The staff was VERY friendly!!! They were always cleaning due to Covid. We enjoyed our stay very much. Love the staff!
Overall nice and clean. They followed COVID procedures and the place felt safe and clean. Close to attractions and bars. However, the water pressure and water heat were non-existent and they are doing construction so that means LOUD noises at 8am. Sounded like a jackhammer in the room above.
If I could give no stars I would. I’m very understanding of construction; however, I paid extra for ocean view and was unaware, nor was I told that once I pulled back my curtain I would have no access to my balcony due to the construction. It was a surprise. I was never notified as I booked, I didn’t receive an email stating I would not have access, even at the front desk when I checked in there was no mention of it.I attempted to change my room every night since I checked in. No one answered the phone at the front desk, so I tried contacting via my own cell phone. Still, no answer. I was directed to an automated voice message which directed me to ANOTHER automated voice message after I pressed a number. When I finally got to speak with someone at the front desk, I was told I had to contact my third party in order to make the change. You guessed it....the third party could not get in contact with them either to make the change! First time in Myrtle beach was beautiful, unfortunately my hotel experience was not. I could go on, but I’ll save that portion for corporate.
I have never complained about a hotel before, but this hotel warrants a bad review. Our room was much different than advertised and many amenities were missing, even the comforters on the beds were gone. Additionally, the hotel room was dirty and the bathroom was gross and very small. We asked if we could upgrade to a different room because of these conditions, and we were given an almost identical room. The front desk staff were nice, but not overly accommodating. The construction begins around 9 AM and it is LOUD. Like not able to hear what others are saying loud. The exterior of the building looks horrible and we did not have a balcony. It is advertised as pet friendly, but there was nowhere to walk a dog for them to go to the bathroom (only about 8x8 feet of grass where the flag poles are in the front of the hotel), so we had to pay for our dogs to be boarded. We asked if we could have a late check out, and they said the latest we could check out would be 11 AM or there would be a $75 fee. For all of the trouble, this hotel is not worth the money, and it certainly should not be called a resort. Like I said before, I have never left a bad review for anything, but I felt others should be warned before staying here. We definitely will not be returning.
Staff was friendly but hotel was poor. Room was clean but was never told about construction that started at 9 in the morning, completely ruined the ocean view. Not to mention our room was attached to another guest suite with a family with a crying baby who was up at early in the am and we had a jetted tubed that was packed with dirt around it
I can not believe I am writing this as I am still in the room, my first day. There seems to be construction going on all around my room and my family can’t even close their eyes after a long night. I am LIVID that I was not made aware there was construction going on. It sounds like they are in my room drilling and the manager couldn’t care one bit. The front desk manager insisted she could not move my family because the property was “fully booked” yet when I go on the website there are other rooms available so why lie to me! I work hard to provide myself and my family with a relaxing couple of days and thus far this stay has been everything but! I will never visit another Westgate in my life! On top of that the room look nothing like what is pictured. Just stay somewhere else because this property is not what you think it is. Even the Property’s General Manager was nearby and didn’t want to help me. I wish you guys could hear this video I’ve taken. This is the worst place I could have taken my family.
As owners here in Myrtle Beach, this year was very disappointing. Aside from the fact that the promise of remodeling and expansion has been in the making for 10 years now....when we had a maintenance issue and tried to contact the front desk, they did not answer the phone. After an hour of trying, we had to go down and search someone out. It was not a good experience. The pool that is supposed to be heated is freezing cold. No chairs and umbrellas, that as owners, we are supposed to be guaranteed. Many issues with this time share. Empty promises all around. Would not recommend buying into a timeshare with this company. If you need to sell, due to financial reasons, they make it nearly impossible.
I have stay in condo and the hotal side both are very nice and by me being a first Time owner of Time share I can say that the staff is nice . The room was very clean / the fitness room very nice and clean. Could used better cable on the tv onther then that stay was good
I wish I could give this resort less than one star. The condition of the rooms are disgusting! All of the furniture in the rooms are probably 20 years or older. The furniture has stains, rust, and dirt on it. Our room was nasty! Please do not let these people convince you to purchase at this resort. Our bedding was stained and dirty, the towels were stain with blood and other people’s hair. Everything time I think about it I gag.
Hotel under going construction so the parking is very limited. The hotel rooms were nice but they dont show or mention the fact that you have doors in the room that lead to the next room right next to you so you can hear ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING YOUR NEIGHBORS DO AND SAY. We paid $190 for ONE NIGHT(12 hrs) for this...very disappointing... should be offering discounts bc its simply not worth it.
I have never given a bad review in my life but my husband and I had such an awful experience I feel it needs to be shared with others. Our first room we were put in was not ocean front like we had payed for and smelled like cigarette smoke. The smoke detector had even been removed from the room. Thinking it was a simple mistake we asked to be moved. We waited in the lobby for an hour for a new room. Our new room’s balcony was under construction (Which is kind of the point for paying for ocean front) and the room smelled like weed. We expressed our concerns with the front desk who were less than apologetic saying “balconies aren’t a listed amenity”. When your advertisement photos show a balcony it’s implied and the pictures in general are not a true picture of the room quality. My husband and I work very hard and were looking forward to a relaxing weekend to ourselves. We left and ended up having to walk 3 miles with our luggage to a hotel who was more than happy to accommodate us. Don’t stay here. Terrible customer service and business practices.
They wanted $3,788 for 3 nights on labor day weekend I watched there prices all day on the 5th. They jacked the prices up as the day went on. Awful place
Horrible Horrible Horrible. Im a westgate owner n sad to say a low budget Days Inn is better than this Resort. The room has a queen bed and queen pull out sofa. The room is so small the kitchenette is not big enough for anyone to cook comfortably in. Room is very outdated and smells like mildew. . I will never book here again and will make sure everyone that I talk to will know horrible our stay way and to stay away.
I have always had a great experience at WMB. This year will be my 3rd consecutive year visiting. Only downside is no complimentary breakfast.
Positive: Very beautiful designs and hotel. Right by the beach and a walk away from all the souvenir stores and shops. Negative: As soon I was walked in, the floor and lock was sticky. After a couple days, they asked how I liked my experience so far and I told them about it. They then cleaned my room and cleaned the floor.
Sheets are what they expect you to sleep with. Hardwood floors are updated. Shower doesnt get that hot. High traffic area can still hear cars outside. House keeping takes forever to bring you blankets.
The staff was extremely gracious, welcoming and helpful. There was a genuine sense that their goal was to make our visit a pleasurable one. The facilities were clean and well kept while there seemed to be a never ending array of activities from which we could choose to participate. Many thanks to the staff and management for making us feel at home. We will cherish our stay at the Westgate Resort Myrtle Beach for many days to come.
We were very excited for this vacation and looked forward to our room and the hotel from the website. However, we were very disappointed when we checked in. The staff at check in was nice, but when we got to our room there were no blankets on our bed. We tried to call down to the front desk, but the phone in our room did not work. So we used our cell phone to call down and ask for blankets. They said they would bring some up. However, 4 hours later we still hadnt received the blankets and were ready for bed. My husband went down to the front desk and talked to them and said they had quite a few complaints on this and were looking into it and would have blankets up as soon as possible. It was about another 45 minutes before we received our blankets. In addition to the blankets the patio was closed off and under construction. We were not aware of this prior to booking. We were able to deal with this, but was woken up to people walking around on our deck doing work at 745 am on Monday morning. The noise was very loud, but we were given no warning about this and the curtains were open and my husband and I were in bed, not dressed. It felt very invasive and we would have been dressed more appropriately if we would have received some kind of notification. We will not be staying with westgate resorts again.
I am sadly disappointed. I stayed at the Westgate in FL so I truly thought a trip to SC Myrtle Beach Westgate would be good but I was totally wrong. I booked 4 days and 3 nights for my sons 17th birthday. First off I was told it was a resort but was placed in the hotel side and the room was the smallest hotel room I have ever stayed in. On top of the tight no space room the hotel is under construction. I was not told the hotel was under construction until check in. They told us the ocean views was under construction so there was no balcony available so we chose the city view so we can get a balcony but then the first Night we woke up to a man on our balcony at 9 am doing construction and making noice. That lasted for hours. On top of the noice from the construction we were put in a room with a door that connects to another room. That room was full of kids and the babies cried and made so much noice the first morning. Then the second morning we wake up to screaming and yelling. I thought there were cops arresting someone because a man yelled out loud “Take out your drivers license right now” the people in the room were yelling, kids were crying and then there was a lot of people yelling and making noise in the hallway. I never complain but this is ridiculous. They talked us into doing a 90 minute tour which our room was already paid for so we didn’t have to do it but we did it for the $100 gift. The tour guy was great but I didn’t like the fact that they told us they make is stay in a small hotel room that seems like the hood so that we can see the benefit of owning our vacation. The manager told us we should want to buy a timeshare so we don’t waste our money on small hotel rooms but I feel like that is a slap in the face because we paid our good money to enjoy our weekend just to be told we are wasting our money and we deserve to be in small hotel rooms like this hotel at the Westgate because we are just wasting our money and making the hotel owner rich. I have attended timeshare tours before and they treated us like owners Even though we wasn’t but this place treats you like renters, noise levels is horrible. I will never stay here again. We came here for a mini vacation only to wish we would have just stayed home.
Staff was very nice. Room was a dump. Old furniture from a garage sale, no coffee maker, no housekeeping. Get what you pay for. Wont come back.
After an inconvenience I had at the third party travel agency fault, Westgate Resort Myrtle beach management stand up and fix the mistake created by others by upgrading the room to one of the most beautiful rooms in the resort. I have had left a negative feedback about Westgate resort before this review, but I need to fix the mistake made after find out that the third party travel agent were wrong and lied to me at all times. Westgate Reaort manager on duty Mr. Dorlan was very generous and professional by explaining the situation happened with the travel agency reservation, but not only that, he went ahead and fix my concerns. Thanks to Westgate and Mr. Dorlan, my vacation experiences changed from one moment to another. I want to apologized for any negative feedback left for Westgate personal Before, and want to make this clear, they act very professional and helped 100% even tho that it was not their fault. I Will recommended to friend and family.
Negative: Hallway carpets were significantly stained with unpleasant orders in same hallways. I reported that the room which had a air ionizer in it reeked of smoke. front desk said they would spray the room but they did not.
My sister in law won a four night stay at this hotel. She invited me and my family as the one of the dates fall on my birthday. The hotel called a couple of times to confirm that we didnt need to postpone for the covid crisis. We confirmed with them that were in fact able to get the dates off work and rent a vehicle so we could all drive down together. Then less then a week before we are planning to leave they call and inform us that the dates we reserved already are no longer available and we needed to reschedule. Never will book at this hotel again even if it is free.
The good, the bad and the ugly. I paid extra to have an Oceanfront room. And it was Oceanfront full View and beautiful. The pools are a decent sized and there are multiple to help reduce over crowding. That sums up the good. The bad, the rooms are hotel rooms from the 60s or 70s, they are VERY small! The bathroom is very dated just like everything else but the bathroom is especially crummy. Tiles loose and broken around toilet, tub and shower head appear to be the original. When we arrived 1 elevator was working but even it stopped intermittently during our visit. On to the ugly, after night one we were up and getting ready to go to the beach. It was around 9 am and I stepped on the floor between the two beds and stepped on a Cockroach that was crawling around. I then got a shoe and finished him off. I notified the front office of the bug and sent them a picture. They responded by telling me it was just a palmetto bug or water bug. They offered to have exterminator come by and I told them I was concerned because there is an asthmatic and a baby in the room that dont need to be around the chemicals. So they did nothing. I looked up what a palmetto bug is and guess what, I am not an idiot it is a Cockroach! That evening we come back to the room after dinner, flip on the light and a Cockroach is crawling on the wall!! We got a shoe and smash it and call the front desk, telling them to do something about the problem NOW. And that a palmetto bug is a Cockroach and to stop trying to sugar coat it. They said they would send maintenance up to the room and I sat in the bed waiting for something to crawl on me for an hour, no one came to my room. I called the front desk again and was told maintenance was busy but they would be up soon. Waited and waited almost ready to give up and try to get some sleep and another COCKROACH was spotted crawling around on the curtain! I freak out and made my husband kill it and call the front desk again. I tell them that we have now killed 3 of them, they r crawling out of the curtains and the babys play pin /bed is right under them. Its after 11 at this point and they again say maintenance will be up soon. I wait and wait and after an extremely restless night fearing I will wake up with a Cockroach on one of the children, I get ready for the beach trying to enjoy my vacation. I stop by the front desk and speak to an assistant manager. I tell her the story and instead of trying to fix the problem, just like everyone else she just insisted I stop calling the COCKROACH a COCKROACH and call it a palmetto bug. She said they had put a call into the exterminator that morning and were just waiting for them to get there. She tried telling me it was my fault they have Cockroaches because I probably left the door to the balcony open to listen to the water. I told her that I didnt and she then said well maybe our room was missed last tine they sprayed. Either way they did what they could and called the exterminator, a manager that isnt concerned with the way I was treated or with the bug problem in my room was unfortunately just par for the course at this point. She did inform me that they r very common and she has her house sprayed twice a month, I am so glad she can sleep without worrying about them crawling on her or her children! We go to the beach and pool, we are gone for hours, come back for lunch and stop by the front desk to inquire about the exterminator and what a surprise the assistant manager is no longer available to talk to me but told the person at the desk that the exterminator hasnt been there yet. There is nothing they can do but could maybe move us to a city view room (not refund the premium I paid for the ocean front) and if there are roaches crawling out of my curtain they are probably in the building. I leave, go to lunch and guess what, no exterminator but they will notify me if another room is available. Day 3 the exterminator shows up about 30 min after they finally offered to move us to another room. ... Oh no, out of space.. Palmetto bugs are Roaches - dont stay here!
The room was nice and the staff was ok, but my husband and I did a presentation tour that took 90 min. We decided not to buy so as I was checking out out myhusband went to the restroom and heard the manager Naeem talking about us telling one of the staffs members that we were low lifes and he would not be contacting us again. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS RESORT!!! We are also talking this further!!!!
I booked a stay at the Westgate Myrtle Beach resort and the hotel was far less resort and much more a place who’s glory days have long passed. The majority of the rooms were under construction. The first room we were assigned had no running water, lights hanging out of the ceiling and no phone. None of the rooms in the building I’m in have balcony railings so you can’t open the sliding doors.Last night, someone or something peed in the lobby. I notified the front desk so they put a “wet floor” sign over it but did not clean it up.Now, the elevators are out and there’s water leaking in the lobby and the ceiling is about to cave in.Every day I’ve been approached to attend a sales presentation about timeshares and group packages.Save your time and money and stay somewhere else. This place is on its last legs and not worth the investment.
The amenities are decent. I understand that not all places provide free WiFi, and that’s fine. I have unlimited data and hotspot availability for that. However, the incessant pop ups on every single device that constantly disconnects me from my hotspot while I’m trying to work just to try to sell me their WiFi is incredibly frustrating.Sales practices like this are predatory and annoying. I’ll find somewhere else to stay next time.
Its so hard to leave the room each day because it is sooooooooooooo relaxing! The bed is like sleeping on a fluffy cloud and the varying firmness of the pillows is perfect to accommodate anyone. The oversized jacuzzi tub, the large shower with a waterfall feature is so amazingly exhilarating. Im not huge on cooking but the kitchen is perfect with utensils/pots/baking dishes/coffee maker/toaster/blender are all waiting on the chef in the family. The balcony is a full length balcony with tons of seating and space. The ocean views are breathtaking plus you can see the entire stretch of Ocean Blvd. The living room area is spacious with a hybrid table/booth style plus theres a separate bar area in the living room for drink mixing or whatever. You never have to take dirty laundry back home because theres a washer/dryer in the unit. Its going to be hard to leave this place on checkout day!!! I can honestly say that Im having the most fun at Myrtle Beach and highly recommend the off-season to get the most of your stay.
I booked a room here for a family of four for 6 nights. The room was supposed to have: two queen beds, a coffee maker, mini fridge, balcony, and a safe. That is what it says on WR’s website when you go to book the room. On the plus side, the room had a microwave, which wasn’t advertised but was welcome; on the negative side, the balconies were under construction the entire time we were there. There was no railing and the door was locked with a heavy piece of hardware. This was my main issue with this hotel. Last year I booked a cheap vacation in Daytona at a different hotel that didn’t have balconies. We just wanted a cheap getaway and that hotel was cheapest for this reason. This year, I spent more money because I knew we wanted a balcony to relax on while the kids did their thing before bed with video games and what not. I was not told at any point until I checked in at the hotel that I would not have a balcony. We called a few weeks in advance to check on the booking and make sure everything was fine and we were not told. We were not told when we booked the trip a month and a half in advance even though the hotel had apparently been under construction for the past 9-10 months. If the rate were $500 a week or something and they told you up front that you would be woken up by construction every morning, that would be one thing. I paid more than $1,000 for this and I wasn’t told until I arrived. That’s just unacceptable, and it’s obvious why I wasn’t told. I would have cancelled of course, as would almost anyone.Next thing, the pool was closed for 3 days of the 6 that we were supposed to be there. They have a splash pad and a lazy river as well, and I get it, chemicals have to be balanced, but it was just kind of a drag not having a pool at all and no one had an ETA of when it might be reopened.Lastly, I’m not going to go into a lot of detail here because it’s probably TMI, but this is important. The toilet paper provided in the bathroom was the worst TP I have ever used and it caused an issue that I am still dealing with a week later. I wish I was joking, but unfortunately I am not. Providing decent toiletries just seems like the kind of thing that’s really hard to mess up. I’m not expecting the best money can by, just something average. What I got was literally something I could use in my wood shop to finish the surface on a dining table.I want to say some nice things. I appreciated the impromptu microwave. The employees in the lobby were nice and professional. They gave us some snacks when we checked in that the kids enjoyed. The beds were comfortable. Parking wasn’t too bad most of the time. The view from the room was great. However, all of that is completely overshadowed by the burden of the negatives I had to endure. That’s the thing, you shouldn’t have to endure a vacation. No balcony, TP that was unusable and actually a bit harmful, broken pool for half the stay, the poolside bar is seemingly only open for 2-3 hours a day, construction woke me up every single morning at 8:00 am, and the staff (while pleasant people) couldn’t or wouldn’t attempt to make up for the fact that I was severely short changed on the vacation I thought I was going to get when I booked. In the end, after three days of this stressful situation, we went two blocks down the street to the Sea Crest resort. They had 8 pools and balconies. It was a no brainer. The cost was similar too, so that goes to show the discount WR was willing to give for the hassle you are no doubt going to endure staying there during this remodeling period.I’ll never stay at a WR for the rest of my life. There’s literally nothing anyone can do about it. We should have been told about all this when we booked or when we called in advance. Bottom line.Ive waited 3 months to post this review because I was arguing with the third party about a refund for the days we did not stay at Westgate. To its credit, Westgate was willing to refund, but the third party was not, so I spent something like 300 dollars for nothing. Lesson learned.
First time to Myrtle Beach SC Westgate. And would definitely go back! It was cooler weather and a lot of places in the area was not open due to the season but its absolutely beautiful here at Westgate!! Lovely stay!! Very nice customer service! They have heated pools, and a hot tub! A tiki bar by the pools. Fun crafts!
The hotel is okay. Rooms are nice and beach is good. But the staff wont budge on ANYTHING that happens to you.>I have pictures of the time share contract that states we would get 7 days. We got 6. Sorry sir, nothing we can do.>the contract price was not what we had originally planned and when we brought that up, there was nothing they could do since the woman who originally made it with us a year ago was no longer there.>our dish washer literally leaked all over the floor and i slipped and fell. So an actual potential lawsuit. I even have video evidence of it leaking. Asked if they could maybe give us that extra day or possibly change the price to what it was supposed to be originally. Sorry sir, nothing we can do.I have been coming here every year for a long time now, no hotel has ever been this not customer friendly like.Save yourself the stress and go to a hilton. And if anyone wants any pictures of our contract or leaky dishwasher, theyll be on reddit soon
Positive: Location, pool, splash pad, and bar area. Negative: This hotel is very loud at night. You can hear through the walls and street noise. No comforters on the beds or bathtub stopper. Had to go down twice to get bedding.
Had a wonderful stay! A new favorite for us.
Staff was nice, but when I got into the room there was no TV remote, no trashcan, floor was dirty with dust and sand, bed come off the ground when you sat on one side of it, sheets had small stains on them, and found a hair in the bathtub. Its okay for a day or two, but if your staying long term, go somewhere else. Oh, construction was going on when I got there Friday. It was almost unbearable and I wasnt even on the oceanside of the hotel where it was being done.
Positive: This place is so beautiful! The staff was so welcoming, the view was amazing, the pool for my kids were perfect. Theyâ€re was so much to do activity wise also everyday. Will forsure be booming here forever :) Negative: Nope! It was perfect
Positive: Friendly staff, pet friendly Negative: Its under renovation, not impressed with the construction
They play games with cafeteria rules and the hotel is overcrowded like NYC but new Yorkers are used to it fortunately for you!Update response listen what makes you think I wanna come back stop breaking peoples balls about arbitrary rules because let me tell you something Words about your bullship get some round fast you Understand and no Im not coming back
We had a great time at the beach even though the beach was closed the last two days of my vacation because of major sand construction. However, this hotel needs to focus more on their guests. This resort focuses sorely on their perspective time share holders and not their guests. The beach facing room that I was in had semi dirty blankets, smelly carpet, and noisy construction. Not worth what I paid for this room. The view was great, but not when there is construction 24 hours of the day... There was no breakfast, and we had to park two blocks away. Yes this hotel makes their guests park in the overflow parking lots 2 and 3. They must save their front parking for perspective time share holders. Never coming here again! There are better resorts on the same street.
So, the good first. Taffy in the bowl at the front desk was great, staff was friendly.. on to the bad. This place is under badly needed renovations. Hotel is dated and Smells of paint, chemicals and is dusty. Room door had horrible seal and allowed noise from other guests in easily. Checked out early to get home for a good nights sleep. Won’t be back, save your money and book somewhere else. Worst Hotel experience I ever had.
Made a delivery here cool staff great communication. Was able to get a hold of two shift managers. Had to have my trailer hand unloaded but not by the driver. Much help tho from employees took less than two hours. Restaurant directly across the street great American food knows for shakes. Call in advance before delivery. Driver must back up onto 6th street off of Ocean blvd. It requires a spotter to stop traffic other then that great view n easy backing.IG@the_highway_hustler
Positive: Front desk staff, ocean view Negative: So, let me first start off by saying, NEVER AGAIN! The rooms like nothing like a he pictures. I had to get switched to three different rooms because of the dirtiness. Stains in tub, pillows and hallway carpet. Roach crawled soon as you cut the light on !
Needs remodeled.. They cater to only the owners.. not that nice of room for price. My room was clean and most of staff was competent and friendly. Its the building thats the problem, one elevator broken and they take forever. Too few entrances into building from pools/ocean. Broken and loose tiles everywhere. Took 45 minutes to check in..
Great views. Staff couldnt be more welcoming. Kids love the lazy river. Great security. Great location. Plenty of parking.
They were doing construction and all you could hear all day long was the constant jackhammer right outside. They offered no amenities and was a constant annoyance from 9-6. Please give your guests a heads up if your plan on doing extremely loud construction at your facility that could ruin an otherwise relaxing vacation.
Love this place!! I stayed in the one bedroom deluxe villa with ocean view and it was the best ocean view I have ever had. The whole place was so nice, bed extremely comfortable, and I fell in love with the double shower head glass shower and the jacuzzi tub which made me fall asleep. The tub is deep, great for two, and features different color lights within it. The amenities are great, they offer spa packages and have very nice pools, kiddie pools with great features, and a nice lazy River. The pools are right on the beach!! Rooms are fully equipped with washer, dryer, food compactor, dishes, dishwasher, fridge, microwave, and safe. Nice flat screen TV in living area and bedroom, lots of channels, and a great resturaunt and bar downstairs called Drafts.
Positive: The staff was super friendly Negative: the fact the entire hotel was under renovation. We paid for an ocean view with balcony, but we couldnt go out on the balcony because there was no hand rail & under construction. The pool was under construction, so we had no pool. Very disappointed
The resort side is way better than the hotel side. We had a good stay overall
Everything about it was enjoyable! The only thing that I did not like was the pressure to buy into a time share which is the only reason I give 4 stars. We did not buy, but They sure wanted us too. They still gave us royal treatment and made sure everything about our stay was superb!
Started in one room and decided to upgrade, Im so glad I did. The hotel overall is nice but the current hotel is definitely the best! I was told I wouldnt be disappointed and she was right!
Worst vacation ever. Not once was it mentioned that it was underconstruction. No house keeping, had to BEG for towels, linens etc. No running water, toilet didnt work. What a joke. Way to wreck our vacation. We planned for a family vacation for a year. Would not recommend this place to my worst enemy
The deluxe villa was awesome and the staff was the top of the line! I want to recognize a few people first is Aaliyah!! She was the best! She went the extra mile to make sure I was satisfied with my villa! Jenna was also a great help! We booked our next vacation before we left!
Omg this place is absolutely gorgeous. I dont have pictures however i have pictures of the view. Igot stuck doing a timeshare presentation for a $100.00 ( which btw you can find on the boardwalk at a small little place next to a arcade) The lady took us in a tour of the hotel and it was massive and breathtakingly gorgeous. I promise you will never wanna leave
Arrived went to room # opened door stunk! Picture showed room overlooking ferriss wheel. Nice view. Not our room out window was a lower dirty and pipes roof. Then we got a housekeeper to spray the stink. Then we turned on tv. It didnt work. Got maintenance men in room now. Switched out tv still didnt work. They finally switched our room. They did put us 4 rooms down with a beach view. This wasted 3/4 of our first day waiting and switching rooms. Now the advertisement for this hotel shows restaurant and lounge to eat at . Its not in the lobby. You actually have to go outside and walk down a couple of towers to get to not stated. Then they sre having a time share seminar going on so they were annoying very annoying with that. Then they advertise pool bar. Well they close down at 4. Then your already upset youve lost alot of first day and now cant get drink unless you go outside and walk. So you go to bed and wake up in morning and go downstairs for complimentary coffee and cant even get cause they sre using all the coffee pots for their time share seminar. So i said no coffee? Reply you have a coffee pot in your room. My reply i dont want powered creamer. Reply. You can go outside and go down a couple of towers and buy one. Needless to say. I spent money on a hotel that was suppose to be nice and recommended by your site. I was not happy. I would not recommend this hotel to anybody. They mis advertise you and time shares are more important.
Positive: The location was the best part of the hotel walking distance from everything that I needed. The staff was trying to be helpful with all the inconveniences that there was. It would have been nice if we were able to use the Balcony but it was under constru Negative: There were many things that we did not like about the hotel first and foremost the hotel was under construction and we were not made aware of that prior to booking no balconies were accessible no continental breakfast check out time was at 10. not happy.
The hotel was mediocre at best. If you werent a VIP you had to park off site or they threatened to tow you. Plus being a VIP means them trying to sell you a time share. Also as you can see in one of the pics I posted it looks like at one they were going to expand the place but for some reason after getting started they just stopped. That was the view from our room. The the people who worked there were great but the accommodations were not very good.
I didnt know that the hotel was under construction until we arrived but they put us up in the time share spots during this. It was wonderful. Love that i could see the beach from the balcony.
I would live here. I loved my stay. Safe, friendly, peaceful and great prices!
Book a two bed with kitchen get here and they dont even have a room we liked got stuck with no kitchen and one bed and they said the best they can do is move us Sunday and we leave on a Monday cant even go out side on ur Balcony but yet they want 214 a night but dont say anything about you cant go on your balcony and when I asked to pay more for a kitchen they tell me they dont have one like really get it together this is the worst hotel I have ever stayed at and will never be back and Ill everybody know how this place works
This place is absolutely awful! Dirty stained curtain 3 feet from our bed. Smelled like cigarettes and dirt. Construction going on right outside. Staff was not at all accommodating.
Unless you stay in the tower the rooms are a bit dated. Popcorn ceilings and all. But rooms were clean. Decent enough for our sta
This resort is terrible! I HAVE VIDEO PROOF OF BED BUGS AS WELL AS WATER ON THE FLOOR FROM THE AC UNIT AND WHEN THE UNIT WAS OPENED UP IT WAS FULL OF BLACK MOLD AND AN EXCESSIVE AMOUNT OF STANDING WATER!
Never ever sign up for the time share through this company. The time share update has been in affect for 10 plus years and all the owners have is cold pools and lazy rivers and no hot tube. Terrible management.
0/5 Stars False advertisement - My “ocean view” room faces a parking lot and smells, all pools are closed, parking lot is a joke, MOD and front desk workers are not helpful, we had to downgrade from a 2 bedroom deluxe, which we paid for, to 1 bedroom without compensation AND we had to pay extra money for June being a blackout date. We tried to cancel our reservation and get a refund prior to coming due to Covid 19 and military travel restrictions. We were told absolutely not. We will never stay with Westgate again, wouldn’t ever recommend the property to anyone, and wouldn’t even consider being an owner. I’m disappointed we spent money on a pre-ownership week.
Security Omar would not stop harassing me and my family members about parking. Could have been handled 100x better will not return.
The staff lied. Dont believeanything they tell you. Overbooked and crowed. Unbelievable. Dont stay here!
There were several issues first the ocean front rooms are under construction the balcony doors are bolted shut we asked to be moved to a room with a balcony they only had a few rooms and it wasnt possible to move the next thing was the construction they started using jack hammers and loud equipment at 700 am we wasnt warmed or told about any construction we asked for clean towels never got them I had to wash and dry myself the washer I tried using stole quarters the dryer never worked had to hang clothes in room to dry there was no parking places I arrived earlier than expected waited in line the couple in front of me was able to check in there room I was told that I couldnt the room we sanitized when we arrived the hall floors were constantly we and it smelled like cat pee this is the 3rd westgate resort we have stayed at and I think we got spoiled at other locations overall not a good experience! Oh and not hair dryer in room toilet constantly stoped up we had to request a plunger
What a disappointment, this place is infested of cockroaches!!! I just found more in the other room!!!! I am leaving right now!!!
The worst experience ever. The floors were filthy, there were cracks in the ceiling, water was leaking in from the window over the AC unit, the sink was falling off the wall, black debris was coming out of the ice maker on your floor, the bathroom tub was nasty, not to mention I held the white comforter up in the light to find it covered in dirt in the inside. (Brown when I held it in the light) I complained to the manager and she found the room not appropriate to sleep my family in the room. After 3 room attempts the 3rd room offered us a slight comfort. It is still not up to standard but better than the last two. There is no way I would want to purchase or even refer anyone to stay at a Westgate resort. I am highly disappointed.
We came here on a timeshare presentations paid $99 dollars and staying 3 nights, 1st night you check in after 3. The next day they had us scheduled at noon for the 1 1/2 hour presentation that lasted 2 1/2 hours, the lunch was chicken sticks and fries, we thought the timeshare cost were to much. Our check out is at 10 am Sat so we get a couple of days to enjoy. We stayed in the condos not the hotel part, our room is large and is clean, all the facilities look nice. This place is on the beach. I dont think we would come back here, this more like a kid park or family entertainment area, not that is bad, just not what we enjoy. All and all this is a nice place, enjoy!
From start to finish our stay is a disaster. We are owners in Orlando and this was not a good way to treat anyone. The renovation were not announced on the website, nothing was open completely, the main pool was closed all together, three buildings are under renovations. If we had known, we would have waited or gone somewhere else. We spend about $5000 a year on our timeshare and for our “one”vacation this was what we got.
My Friend and I stayed for 4 days, the check in was great and the staff was outstanding. The first room we were assigned smelled like cigarette smoke so we requested a room change the staff immediately got us another ocean front room, the room was clean and nicely decorated. The beds were very comfortable but the pillows were very small, the bathroom was clean but nothing special, the view of the ocean was awesome. We enjoyed the beach, the lazy river and all the amenities that are close by. Over this resort is great. The staff and the location are the best part, I will definitely come again.
Had an amazing time. Staff was very accommodating. Resort was conveniently located. Room had an amazing view.
The tower building is ok. The ocean view from the upper floors is awesome. However, I did not enjoy the experience with the time-share tour. But didnt expect much, so no surprise.
This place was an absolute disappointment, and a total money racket. If I could give this place zero stars I would. We booked over the phone with a rep through the timeshare booking service ( We are owners of a westgate time share) and let them know we have 3 small dogs less then 5 lbs each. The rep assured us that was fine that the limit was 60lbs and it wouldnt be an issue. Well we get to the hotel and the make is wait 4 hours to check in, and then charge $600 because we have 3 dogs and the limit is 1. When we complained that we were not informed of that when we booked it, the front desk staff just simply said well you should have checked the website. So we pay the fee, and carry on with checking in and finally we get a room. It was nice, but definitely not the nicest,The shower leaked and the toilet stopped working 2 days in, and the sliding door took all your might to open. We managed to enjoy most of our vacation, and the view was absolutely stunning, but definitely not worth the fees we paid. After all that adventure we go to check out only to find we hadnt been charged enough and were required to pay an additional $350 fee before we could check out. Im sorry but $1000 in definitely not worth it. We will not be back, and were half tempted to sell the time share. Westgate is a JOKE. Dont come, and dont bring your dogs.
My name is Gerald this is my first time giving a review on Hotel stay. When we checked in on February 13 2020 they told us they were renovating, mind you nobody told us this when we made our reservations, if they had we would have made reservations at another Hotel. When we got on elevator to go to room, there were cords, vacuum cleaner, paint on floor etc. When we use our key to open door it wouldnt open thought something was wrong with our room key, had someone to try it realized that the door was stuck because of paint. We get into our room there is no refrigerator, microwave, phone, iron, ironing board. I was so upset! They were using cleaning products, you see my husband has a heart condition I was so afraid he was going to get sick, the chemicals were so strong I had to put towels under the door. We couldnt relax because of all the noise. I think we need to get our money back. I believe it would have been a good stay if it wasnt for renovations.
If there was a zero thats what I would give this place. From my check I its been a disaster. 1st room noise was so loud from construction, none of the rooms have phones, no trash cans, i had to clean the bathroom because it hair everywhere, the deuves feathers were molded inside and its was very dingy brown. No coffee pot no ice buckets its Awful. Not a good way to start a vacation. Service here is none. They just shake their heads. I am livid! I dont recommend anyone here. And yes, we were told prior to booking that the construction was done. That was a lie. Balconies have no rails. This hotel was not ready to open it opened to get money and I want all opine back!
This resort was trash. Their concierge desk has double the amount of people standing around doing nothing and only about one to two staff members at the reception desk. The rooms are outdated, there is little to no amenities or activities to do at the resort, and overall the staff members are less than helpful when it comes to having issues or concerns. Worst of all, the view faced a part of the resort that was under construction. Despite our complaints, nothing was done to fix the situation. Avoid this place like your life depended on it. Because it just might.
This is our 7th times staying here and just loved how youre an owner and it takes an hour and half for crews to get you into your room because of other craziness going on.
I am only giving it 4 instead of 5 stars for some very small but good reasons. The rooms are a little dated, but they are clean and were nice to stay in. The checkout time is at 10am instead of 11 like many hotels which is a bummer and since they will charge you $75 if you are late checking out, that really didnt sit well with me.There is also no internet and if you want it you have to pay $10 a day for it, so that is a big disappointment. Especially when comparing with other wonderful hotels that do offer that and more. We did the timeshare thing so that presentation is very misleading and will definitely last longer than 90min and it would help if the people you talk to during that presentation actually listened to your answers so you arent spending valuable time repeating. Also, there is NO continental breakfast and for a hotel of this price and caliper, I would expect a little more. For the regular price, you can definitely stay elsewhere for better amenities, but great location and overall wonderful hotel. Better off if you are a owner, they cater to them and no so much to regular customers.
Great place to stay close to most every thing some of the resort is a little dated
Did not stay at the Westgate. Actually we were at the KOA Campground which was fabulous! Lots of entertainment and things to do and lots of live bands!
Paid for a room in January 2020 for a May15th - 18th stay, they cancelled our stay due to Covid even though all hotels, resorts, restaurants etc were open. We were told when I called on May 4th that our reservation was cancelled, but we could book for another time. Now they tell us that they have peak dates, and black out dates etc. They have refused to return our money, even though they cancelled our reservation, we did not. I would highly recommend not giving these people any of your money.
This was our first time in Myrtle Beach, but my 2nd stay at a Westgate, and I have to say I was less then impressed with my experience here. To begin, we paid for a vacation package, after our 1st stay at a Westgate in FL, to stay as owners here at this resort. We were told that we would be considered VIP guests, but did not get VIP treatment. (I felt my time as a timeshare guest in FL was more worthy of that position.) The Oceanview room we were promised turned out to be a direct view of their unfinished garage. Nothing at the resort was functional because of the construction going on and every night the emergency alarm would go off for testing purposes. The furniture in the room are very dated and the TV is programmed to shut off every hour. Despite our complients to the front desk and Conceige, nothing was done to fix the situation. We were given nothing but a box of cookies and false concern and assurances that something would be done. The only reason this resort doesnt get a solid 1 star is because of the jacuzzi tub in the room (that we had to pay an upgrade fee to have) and the ladies in the activities dept. Those two things made our stay bareable, but if I could do it over again I would either use my vacation package for another destination or find another resort to stay in.If youre looking for a nice, Oceanview or Oceanfront resort to spend your vacation then I highly recommend you continue searching elsewhere. (Unless you come as a timeshare guest. Then maybe your experience here will be much more welcoming...)***UPDATE***This is a follow-up response to the Westgate reply below... Kai, your response sounds nice, but Im not very confident that much will change. If you truely valued your customer experience, efforts to remedy the inconvenience should have been addressed the first night when we contacted the front desk and Concierge. In addition, I think with the current renovations going on at your resort, your rates should be significantly discounted. At the very least, the inconveniences due to the construction should be communicated to your guest before booking. So unless my return to stay at your resort is complimentary, I will not be paying again to stay at Westgate Myrtle Beach.
Definitely one of the nicer places in South Carolina to stay. Staff was freindly, place was clean. My issue with Myrtle Beach was with the other guests and tourest very rude some of them. But for the price in Myrtle Beach, this Hotel definitely the place to stay. This was a Just me and my kids Trip. Making memories.
Positive: Location. Negative: Tv did not work. Bathroom was circa-1970â€s.
Loved it, everything was great except the pillows ( they were small ) But still a 5 out of 5! Loved the staff and how quick maintenance when needed during spring break. I will be back 100%
Staff uninformed about nearby places to get things like distilled water for cpap,-they didnt have it, epsom salts or places to eat. Lazy river is so small,-child size. Pop machines on all floors except lobby were empty during entire stay. The beach was great, staff very pleasant. Coffee shop very good and Uncle Willies pool side bar when open was good.
