Not very clean, not right on the ocean. And the weekend that we were there, there was a shooting in the room next door on the last night we were there. It wasnt the hotels fault of course, Im sure it had to do with the weekend that we were there, but the whole hotel was locked down for a few hours, helicopters and everything while they tried to find the shooters.. other than that, I really have no complaints. The staff tried to accommodate us by allowing us a later check out.. but I thought that our last night shouldve been refunded since we were locked inside and one of us outside of the hotel for a few hours.

Condo I rented was good. The resort build is across the road from public beach access. But the building itself needs a better cleaning . It smells a bit in the corridor and elevator . Has a common washing and drying machine, kids pool and full size pool. Location of the resort is a great plus if your vacation is to be at the beach

The location was excellent. Unfortunately, that is the only positive when staying here. Our family had multiple rooms and each it’s own share of problems. We probably would have stayed somewhere else but it would of been hard to find somewhere to accommodate us all. Check in process took forever. Drug deals in the stairways where cameras cannot be seen. Bugs come out in the middle of the night to surprise you in the morning. The motel really wakes up at 6pm and goes to sleep at about 6am. I also feel like our families left the room cleaner then when we first got there (bought cleaning supplies and air fresheners).If you are interested in a cheap place to party and don’t mind a dirty outdated environment then this might be the place for you.

Checked into Motel and couldnt get into room cause there was a broken key on my door lock. Had to stay across the street Bed was hard as a rock. Then went to go on an excursion came back later that night No one was there had to call an emergency number and wait for them to show up to give me new keys. Still could not get into room had to struggle with door for 5 min. Everytime trying to get in. NO electrical outlet in bathroom to do your hair. Curtains were see through like sheer cause they were so old . I paid $100 a night through Hotels.com and there own room rate is $75 a night not worth $30 a night. I will not be using Hotels.com again

I love their pool

I really didnt have high hopes for this hotel but I was pleasantly surprised. The room wasnt perfect by any means but it wasnt horrible either. The corners and crevices had a bit of dust and dirt and it wasnt sparkly new, but it was clean in the ways that mattered. The bed was clean, bathroom was clean, I didnt see any bugs during our stay, no questionable stains. I actually have a miniature blacklight that I take on trips to make sure there isnt certain nasty things in the rooms I stay in and this one was well cleaned up. The pool was cleaned and well maintained and the staff was very friendly. I am very pleased with our stay for the price we paid. If youre looking for beach on a budget this is perfect.

Owner and staff is so nice ! a small cozy motel. Close to food and shops safe and clean rooms.. my last stay was in room 214 also a year before was room 226 absolutely beautiful updated room cozy and again clean! the bathroom was a bit small for like a tall person to shower but other then that is perfect love to stay there Every trip !

Worst experience ever. The photos will fool you. Our balcony door fell completely apart it took them 2 days to come look at it. The staff came and knocked on our door at 6-7 every morning even tho we had a do not disturb sign it woke both kids up every time! They do the bare minimum to keep the place open! Dont waste your money.

Very misleading!!! Pictures on websites are wrong! Lazy river jets and tunnel sprasys dont work! Might have been a resort 20 years ago but not now! Rooms water was coming up in the tub we dont no from where! Very dissatisfied! Now we know why the price was too good to pass up! We know better next time.

It is a older place but is quite has kitchenettes with pots and pans utensils plates cups coffee maker iron and ironing board small stoves with oven balconies televisions with wifi TV so theres lots and lots of channels free wifi pool I really like the place a lot

A clean convenient place with good beach access

DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!! This place is awful. We seen drug deals happening in the parking lot. The place is nasty and we didn’t even make it to the room. It is definitely not a safe place. The windows are moldy and the curtains are yellowed. It’s awful. Also when I tried to cancel because (we were on a girls trip with young teenage girls) we did not feel safe the so called manager would not refund my money. The cancellation policy clearly states if you cancel you will forfeit one nights stay. He refused to give me the rest of my money and then hung up on me. We had to find another place and spend more money just to feel safe and secure. You couldn’t pay me to stay here!!

I liked the pool and the room was very spacious. but when i went to check in the atendee was a bit rude. other than that everything else was good

The only reason Im leaving a 2star instead of a 1star is because of how nice the staff was. The place is very run down. Nothing was posted about the inside pool and gym being shut down before we arrived at the location (Which appeared to be used for storage). The room was falling apart (window seals leaking, walls painting was heavily worn down, etc). The bed was nice, but the kitchen wasnt even worth the extra money to have a kitchen. The jets in the lazy river didnt even work.

When we got to this hotel, our door was dry rotted and the only lock on the door was being held together by a single nail. There were also cockroaches in our room and we werent the only ones to have this bug problem, the lady above us also had cockroaches. We got a partial refund and went to a different hotel because we didnt feel safe or even clean to sleep in this hotel.

Family friendly nice rooms and they have a pool and a lazy river

Lighting was bad, carpet needed a major cleaning, mattress in master bedroom needs to be replaced. Couches were old and uncomfortable. Excessive amount of furniture overall. TV via MyWiFiTV was awkward and not intuitive. However, Wifi connection was good, location close to beach and parking were good and the suite was fairly large.

This place was nothing like the listing online. They must have used older pictures because the paint was all worn and chipped. The rooms are extremely dated and when we stayed there, the filter in the pool and also in the last river werent working. So you can imagine the amount of ants and other critters.

I liked how clean and easy check in and check out was for my family and I. Very close to the beach and fun pool and balcony.

Bad experience. Loud and noisy neighbors. Mold on air conditioning unit. Had to relocate to another room due to roaches. Second room still had bugs but not as many. Spent six hours killing roaches. Was not offered money back or anything.

The set up is nice but it smells like smoke and isn’t very clean. Nice front desk though.

The staff was great. But the beds were uncomfortable. The lazy river and indoor pool were not available and the outdoor pool needed cleaning. Overall, we would stay here again if these issues were fixed.

The room was really outdated uncomfortable beds pillows were like bedsheets. Balcony door would not open so could not use balcony. Strong smell of marijuana and when called front desk they said they dont own the rooms next to us so its not in there control. Suppose to have fresh towels daily maybe got it 4 out of 8 days.

Worst hotel we ever booked. The fridge light was not working. The table was broken. My 2 year old daughter cut her toe on the back sliding glass door because it has screws sticking out where anyone could cut there foot. The sliding door wasn’t working either. Had to lift up and use a lot of strength to slide it right and left. The guy upfront at the office was very very rude. He has an attitude, he’s lucky I didn’t pop him in his jaw. People be sure to check yalls rooms! There is also roaches running around!

I need to note that we stayed in a unit thats privately owned.. many are like this. the owners nor up keep have anything affiliated with Wave Rider. ... the location is Convenient.. rooms have passcodes. Just have to drive up and go to your room. Not a 5 star resort, but access to the beach isnt a hassle.. just cross the street and go between the Landmark and The Oasis. The water was rough this weekend but we think it was because of hurricane Dorian. The first floors have their balcony on the ground floor open to the walkway around the pool. Watched a couple of pedestrians taking a shortcut walk up to and on a couple of the balconies. Glad we were on the 3rd. .. adding to this.. just took a shower and i cant help but notice other problems.. drains are slow, shower water pressure is low, tub to shower lever isnt working all the way, wiring issues with the ceiling fans - none of which are leveled.. kids (18-25 yo) blaring music out of their balcony two doors down... i dont like to be a snob but this place isnt for a 40+ y.o. with a spouse and two kids.

There was a large amount of mold in the coffee carafe in the room. The pool was cloudy. The indoor pool was not only closed, but appeared to have been closed for quite some time and used as storage. The room smelled of marijuana smoke. The door had apparently been broken open in the past and felt insecure and the deadbolt couldnt be engaged from outside.

Place was discussing. You will see from the pictures. Dity everything from bugs to rusted out filthy microwave. Before giving the review, I tried to get help from manager who refused refund and to give his name. Would never let my Maltese stay here. Walked in and turned on lights and took pics and left. A woman high in the parking lot. 4 police cars and k-9s in road and on premises came as leaving. Manager said this was acceptable. DONT STAY HERE. Hotels .com should be embarrassed to advertise. Have more photos but it would not let me put them up. Stayed in a 1968 camper before along with Honduras, Belize and Mexico. All 10 stars compared to this place

Over priced for what you get! I should have done more research before booking but I didnt. Paid almost $600 to sleep with roaches! Beside the lady who kept our room being nice and it being across from the beach are the only good things. Air conditioning didnt work ended up buying a fan and 2 cans of raid for 3 nights! Please dont waste your money! Not to mention cops being called there 3 times with in a period of 1 hour.

Rented for two days was suppose to be a suite. Guy on phone completely oversold the place as a resort that has 8 pools. The indoor pool is closed and there is one pool a mini lazy river and a mini pool all in one area. When we got there the outside was really rough. We got inside is wasnt awful just an older hotel. The reason i gave it one star is there are roaches and not just one i saw many. After 11 pm it gets really wild with drunks and music playing. The pics online are kind of deceiving. It is really close to beach so that was good. I paid 150 a night so for the money i really should have done more research and found a better place.

The wave rider resort was disgusting! There is no playground and the indoor pool is not even filled up.... the first night was ok, but the second night we found roaches! When I told the front desk they didnt seem concerned, but they did have a company come and spray. The bug spray didnt work, there were bugs every night! The housekeepers dont clean the room, I had to go get clean towels and we had to take our dirty towels out and our garbage! The tub was so gross that no one wanted to shower! This place should be shut down! I should have taken pictures! Nasty!!

Awesome experience,stayed in 126, a newly renovated room,great staff,ignore the bad reviews,most people go out of theyre to create a bad review,and over exaggerate,the biggest problem i see is with people who rent directly from unit owners,not front desk,they are not here to support guests,and the wrong people are being blamed,Ive stayed at the best for triple the money,and the only things they offer more are maybe food and a bar, i can get that anywhere,and sometimes the service is no better,glad I found the waverider and I will return!

If i could give it 0 stars i would. The pictures on the website are nothing like the rooms. First, they gave us the wrong keys. Then when we brought it up to them they just re-cut it. When we finally got into the room we saw where the smoke detector was ripped off the wall. The bathroom was disgusting. The pullout couch didnt work and was held together my clothe hangers. The beds didnt have fresh linens on them, i was wiping away crumbs under the blankets. The pillows were brown from never being washed. Later in the day we heard a small tinging sound. We thought the igniter on the stove was broken, nope. We open the cabinet under the sink and see that the bottom is caved in, with tin foil laid down, a puddle of water and grease, and black mold coating the entire back of the cabinet. When we brought it to the maintenance guys attention he mentioned that he doesnt really work there and that he just helps out the owners, but that maintenance has been lacking lately and the just havent gotten to it yet. The office isnt always open either, only from sunday to thursday and even when they are there, it takes 30 minutes for them to answer the phone (not exaggerating either). This place is absolutely ridiculous. Dont ever stay here!

Do not recommend and here is why.Positive.no signs of bed bugs, we were not robbed or injured.Negative.Severely over priced, very run down, NASTY rooms.Is not a 1 bedroom, there is no separation between the bedroom and the rest of the room.The room was very outdated, wallpaper loose, bedding worn, furnishings old and stained.Arrived and accepted room was dated and old, went out for evening and returned to kitchenette covered with ROACHES. It was after 2am so no one in office, not that it would have been resolved.Stove did not work.Went to office...was informed that every unit is individually owned and the Wave Rider Resort only operates them, is not responsible for the condition of the unit.Nothing was done about the roaches. The stove was eventually swapped with an old rusty one.Housekeeping is basically towel delivery. This was the worst so called resort. They need to rename it roach motel of myrtle beach .it had roaches no cable dirty towels peeling paint . Smelled horrible never again. Just gross

I paid $450 for a four night stay drove all the way from NY and cant get into my room key doesnt work It is 11pm and and all the rooms are booked up and I had no place to stay . They close the office at 7 pm and leave your keys in a mail box. Really on Myrtle Beach resort office closed

Worst experience ever. Roaches crawling. Had two extremely friendly housekeeper. The rest was not friendly at all. One was smoking as we walked out our room!! Inside pool was closed. Lazy river was just that, a lazy river. You had to push yourself through. It didnt flow. We was told wr had to pick up our on trash!! And then we had to put a deposit on the room in which we still have not received back yet. Word of advice,DO NOT BOOK. FIND SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I am out of town for work with my wife and son. We have been very pleased thus far. The staff seem very nice and we havent had any problems with our room. Everything was clean and in order when we arrived... The building is slowly being renovated from what I can see. Coming along very well though! Ill stay a few more weeks and Im sure Ill return again sometime!

Wrorst resort I rented in my life The pictures showed in the website are not accurate. There is no inside pool It’s closed. The room has not enough light only one stand up light, the stove was so old, it was falling apart, only 2 burners worked, only 1 small pan available, no glasses, the room smelled like mold, the toaster was broken, I had to ask for coffe everyday, they didn’t wanted to give us a refund, the chairs in the balcony were discussing, we found a roach, the worst experience ever, don’t rent this place

Nasty place, bugs no hot water

I wouldnt recommend this hotel to anyone. There was roaches in our room. Old molded food in refrigerator. Beds were like sleeping on a hard floor. Tvs had fuzzy pictures. The elevator broke down so we had to walk the steps. Pictures are very deceiving. Stay away if at all possible.

This (resort) is the worst ever. The list is as follows:- the room looks nothing like online. It looks as though they have never been updated.- our door was broken we keep getting stuck in/out our room.- the sink an tub kept getting stopped up.- the lazy river do not work.- the indoor pool light kept coming off inside the pool. (Dangerous)- the patio door had no screen so u couldnt even enjoy the fresh air.- finally they do not make the beds/clean your room during your stay.The only nice thing I have to say about this room is that the staff was very nice an pleasant.

We never checked in there they canceled our reservation without notice saying our card was declined. Wouldn’t recommend them to no family.

The staff was very friendly and helpful in suggesting places to eat and drink. The room was a bit small for a family but worked perfectly for 2 adults. Room had a large fridge and small kitchen area which we were pleasantly surprised about. Bathroom was very small and had some issues with the toilet running constantly. The curtains need replaced, obviously older and ripped on the back side. Outside was a bit run down and paint was chipping off the doors. Short walk to the beach. Overall very happy with our choice to stay here.

It was a pretty good place to stay only thing making it not 5 stars was theres no indoor pool anymore just a building with a empty pool but it was really hot so the outdoor pool was ok by me and my son and husband and the pool is really big and they cleaned it every day we was there and the couple that worked there and stayed was so nice to us and very helpful.

You cant hang towels out to dry on your balcony. When you leave the room you cant have personal items on bed (even though they dont change your sheets). Over-all horrible resort.

I just stayed there for a week. They told me that I could NOT bring a pet. However, there were other people staying there with pets!! I dont understand the rules they have! I felt safe there. No phone in my room. No ice machine. No laundry service. Elevator was broken. (This was in mid September 2018) That indoor pool is shut down & used for storage! There were dirty towels in my bathtub. Crumbs on my table. This was the cheapest place i could find, it was an emergency situation...i would not stay there again.

Was a great stay no bugs a little rust but the place is older so you cant really expect a brand new place.. If you want that then pay the places across the street $200 plus a night. Me and my wife had a plesant time and I work in a hotel myself so overall for what it gas to over and price especially it was a stay I can say I loved.

Just be AWARE when booking that Wave Rider charges for one night even when canceling well in advance. It is not FREE CANCELLATION as stated. I thought I had asked all the correct questions about cancelling and was assured more than 24 hours would not have fee. But they forgot to tell me about having to pay for one night if I cancelled.

Never in a million years would I anyone stay here or recommend it to anyone! My mother and my grandmother had a reservation to check in here and stay across the street at the Palace. Upon checking in the room had a smell of urine, there was a red stain on the bedding and a cigarette butt on the bathroom floor and black mold on the walls. They called down to the desk to see if they could be moved or have the room cleaned only to be told no to either but they could be refunded their money but not in cash ( in which it was paid), they wanted to scan it back to the debit card used to make the deposit. They asked to speak to the manager and went down stairs and across the street only to be told they HAD to get out or they would have the police called on them (my mom is 47 and my gmother is 71) they went upstairs and began to pack up the room and housekeeping came and told my grandmother to keep her pie hole closed before she punched her in it for complaining about the cleanliness of the room! this is unacceptable all the way around!

Awful experience. Will not stay here ever again. We stayed here for 4 days. Electrical outlets were pushed into the walls, bathroom door falling apart, had to pay an extra $100 before we could get our room keys. (Was not mentioned at time of reservation) sheets were stained, room service was bare minimum. (They dont change the sheets, just make the bed). We had four people in a room and were only given two towels and two washclothes. The pool was disgusting, didnt see anyone clean it the whole time we were there. Different parents were taking turns skimming the pool. Met a family on the first floor said they went and bought $50 worth of roach spray from Walmart because she killed 60 roaches in her room alone. Then we waited 30 minutes for the front office to go check our rooms before we could leave, to determine if we got our deposit back or not. Never ever again will my family and I stay at this establishment.

Customer service is a no go here. The gentleman at the desk was rude and didn’t want to do his job. Ask for the WiFi password and he stated it’s out until it gets fixed. He should’ve told me that before I paid. He hands me all the rules and says we have no vacancies. I said ok and should’ve of left then. Get to the room and it’s dirty, ac barely worked and he tv volume would go in and out. Asked to switch rooms and he said no vacancy, I said I would check out and he said no refunds. I said I will dispute it through my bank due to their inconsistency of not backing up their end of a clean room and everything working. I asked for the manager and the managers name. Of course he was the manager and he only had a first name. Don’t go there, look somewhere else and believe the bad reviews. The good reviews are fake or got a discounted rate for not telling the truth.

Henry the property manager is the rudest, hatefulest man Ive ever met in customer service, why these people let him anywhere near the public is just unbelievable. Besides the fact its over priced, I mean if you wanna over pay for black mold from roof leaks and bad pluming go right ahead . Dont mind the friendly hookers making house calls or the sex offender that lives on the property and stares at your children . This place is a disgrace.

This is an older block building, not a luxury hotel. Reminiscent of how Myrtle Beach used to be. Reasonable price, great location, clean room and excellent service. Pool wasnt crowded. Only a block away from the ocean.

Dishes were dirty. Floor was full of sand. Room did not smell to good.We booked for 3 nights. We left on the second day.

I truly wish I could have given no stars. Ive NEVER stayed here.... However I was just getting ready to make reservations and decided to read the reviews. After reading the responses from the owner, manager, front desk, whomever. ... I would NEVER stay here. How distasteful & unprofessional to respond in such manner only to be argumentative and point driven. ANY prominent businessman should know YOU CANT PLEASE EVERYONE!! So what if the police was called or the tow truck driver said this or that. WHATEVER happened.... They have their reasons for NEVER returning and you have yours for NEVER wanting them to return. The reviews you all SHOULD have addressed you NEVER responded. Things that you COULD have done to rectify the problems due to the negligence of staff there, you ignored . Im sure while you all were typing you were rolling your necks & popping your lips . I could NEVER take this place serious.... I have to run along now and find my family another room.PLEASE TAKE SOME MANAGEMENT COURSES!!

I wish not to give any stars. Horrible room, dirty shower. Room smelt like urine, AC barely worked. Sheets/towels smelt like smoke, pools were dirty. Reservation specialist refused to give us our money back because we checked out asap and now trying to get the money back from booking and nothing.

Its not what we expected the images on the website are far from true. We had roaches in our room the trash bin is a pickup truck the shower curtain rings were rusty along with dust and dirt in the base boards . The outdoor pool was damaged the indoor pool was out of service there is no playground it had caution tape around it. They dont clean the rooms however you can get clean linens but you have to make your own bed. I would never stay there again.

Staff was wonderful and took care of my every need and answered any questions about Myrtle Beach. Gave us some wonderful eating establishments. We will be back in September.

Great place to go love it

Its ok. Its right across the street from the beach but its not the cleanest and their is someone running a fake waverider wifi that will throw up a your computer is infected message.

The fact that I have to even give one star makes me sick!! We booked a 2 night stay and we were ready to leave the moment we got to the facility. We were told to come back at 4:15 and we came back to a sign on the door and had to wait another 20 minutes outside and the guy who signed us in looked stoned out of his mind. We were finally given our room key and on our way up to room 208 we noticed there was rust literally everywhere we get to the room and again rust everywhere, cracks all over the ceiling and walls. The carpet is sooo dirty its damn near black and it looks like it should be orangeish brown. There were also roaches. We also had someone knock on our door at 3:45AM like they were the police (we did not answer). There were also dead bugs in the freezer. I will never go to Myrtle Beach ever again thats how bad this place put a damper on our stay!!

Close to the beach, rooms are alright.

We booked a room with this establishment on a whim to spend a couple of days at the beach. The conditions of the room were terrible. The phone had some stains on it that appeared to be vomit??? All of the furniture and flooring were stained. The room was not at a level of cleanliness that was acceptable for a fraternity party let alone a family get a way. The room that we had needed a complete remodel. Honestly it just appears that the establishment is in need of some serious attention. Luckily we were able to get a room near the beach at a place that does appear to keep up with the up keep of a lodging establishment.

Me an my wife where there July 6th-9th had a great time no problems room was clean service was great no problems no bugs that i saw of but it is what it is a older motel an it kinda shows its age why I leave a 4 star

It was our first time going to myrtle beach so I dont have other hotels to compare my stay to. For the money the rooms were okay. It wasnt the Hilton but it wasnt a run down room either.. For someone like me who only is in the room to sleep in and get ready, it worked. The door you had to slam to shut, the bathroom was small, there were only 4 outlets in the whole room, 2 already taken; one used for the TV and one for the microwave, there were 4 rafts for the lazy river which people took to the regular pool to use so there were none in the lazy river section, the older man at the front desk was nice but all 5 of the cleaning staff i saw were rude !

Dirty, out dated . Bugs mold mildew.

This is not a family establishment. At 12-1 am in the morning theres loud music and people yelling and screaming. Tried to contact someone about this and no luck. So we went downstairs to the lobby and no luck there either. This place is literally a dump. The pictures they have are no where near what it looks like in person. I can understand some differences but its not even close. They dont give you enough towels. We have 5 guests and they sent us 2 towels. Everything about this hotel is misleading. The paperwork we signed said they had a strict quit time from 10pm-10am. Please do not bring your family here. Its no place for a family.

After reading the reviews I must admit that I was a little scared about staying at the Wave Rider Resort. I even took my own sheets and cleaning supplies. However, I was happy when we entered our room. The room was clean, I saw no bugs anywhere, and the location was great. It, of course, is a older hotel without all the fancy things you can find across the street but for the price I think it cant be beat. The pools are awesome. The stove worked great, the fridge was a standard size, the air condition was cold. We were offered cleaning service everyday with clean towels. They did say the elevator was down but the staff was wonderful (they even helped carry our bags to the 2nd floor). We had a great time while staying at the Wave Rider Resort....That was our first time staying across the street from the beach so I was a little worried about having to carry our stuff across the street but it really wasnt that much different than staying in a high rise resort right on the beach. I would stay there again. Thanks to all the staff at the Wave Rider Resort for making our trip to Myrtle Beach a fun one!

Too bad I cant give negative stars, website photos are very deceptive. Room was dirty, lights, TV, and wifi, not working. Will not stay here again!!!

Went here for a mini vacation for Mothers Day. I was very pleased with the prices and the staff. The beds were a little small, the indoor pool and lazy river were closed. Other than that I would say it was a weekend well spent!
