WOW What a Beautiful Church in a Beautiful location, I have not been to old town for 30 years and I forgot just how much history and culture is right here in San Diego, I took an hour or two just to walk around and remember my childhood field-trips. if your ever in the neighborhood check it out.

This humble Catholic Church is rich with history, right in the the heart of Old Town and dare to say is likely more frequented by tourists than locals, its foundation stone was placed in 1868 and it was the first church built in California outside of the mission system.

Beautiful Church. I love attending mass here,Its a few miles from home but its worth it. The father always gives a great homily and its a great place to worship if you show up early, the mass does sometimes gets full. Theres also a lot of tourists that attended the mass and people from other religions who will attend as well, you can spot them out because they dont know the process of a catholic church. Overall its a great place to worship and connect with GOD.

A beautiful church, however they need to have more pride in trying to remove the urine smell on the outside and inside of the church. It was very discusting smelling urine the whole time that my wife was inside praying and lighting candles for loved ones. This church has a high visibility with tourists as it is right across the street from Old Town and this is not a good way for visitors to have an impression of our city.

You can walk in this church and feel the holy spirit in the air--seriously. And yes, it doesnt matter who you are, a democratic or not, just pray for yourself, so that you can be the best human being possible.. You can pray in this absolutely gorgeous church or just in your closet. Just pray for yourself and for world peace, too. Its very much needed.

Historical church lovely statues, alter and great confessionalservice booths. Acoustics are wonderful and the singing is beautiful. Father Bob says a great mass and Father Richard as well. I enjoyed that the homilies are educational, spiritual and challenging. I especially like that the religious tone is one of authentic Catholicism.

It is not their fault that the bishop of San Diego holds heretical ideas and values contrary to orthodox catholic teachings. News flash people, abortion is not in keeping with Christian or Catholic doctrine held for 2000 years. If you dont like authentic teachings go to your watered-down secular church that is devoid of the real Jesus and Jesuss teachings.

Beautiful place of worship

Very neighborly church. We were in town for a basketball tourney so we did not have Sunday clothes but we did not feel judged. The priest was such a great speaker and the congregation was welcoming. We attended the 8:30 am Sunday service

First Catholic Church in San Diego. Built with bricks.....didnt pass the test of time and seismic movement. The church was retrofitted for earthquakes and the walls are still the same bricks layed by the Kumeyae Indians of this region. Today the church is standing strong after millions of dollars invested in preserving its original state. The church is NOT a museum therefore when you visit be mindful this is a house of worship.

Ive read the Bible three times and not read this in the Bible, much less mention the word Democratic.I was told in less than three days, when I was trying to understand why I was being verbally abused andattacked by two Eucharistic ministers, and a long lost family member, about a very serious and personal family matter. I then called a local Catholic church, and spoke to the so called, lead priest who had just returned from the Vatican from a ceremony in regards to mother Teresa. The priest also verbally abused and attacked me in the same manner, only more so. Holding back tears, I quoted every Scripture for his rationale he was giving me, as the awful thing I was doing against my loved one and against the Catholic church. But where did God come in I thought to myself. They all were worried about the Catholic beliefs So I asked each one, were in Gods Word, is this written? Three said, not everything is written in the Bible. Its just what we believe. The angry priest was insulted by my question, and said, are you wanting Bible lessons or do you want to listen to me! At that point I knew he as myself as a former Catholic, was not raised to read the Bible. I let him know I truly wanted to know if the answer I was seeking was truly Biblical. Because Ive never read in the Bible and I knew there was different bibles for different faiths. He than said in a very condescending voice, listen lady, youre doing wrong, and not everything is in the Bible. Its our Catholic beliefs that tell us that it is wrong what you are doing!You see my dear mother had passed away after years of severe pain. She was a Christian, however my daughter insisted that she have a Catholic service. Mother had a major bilateral stroke. Leaving her without the ability to swallow. My greatest concern was that she would be thirsty. I cried for days. I had them place her on IV fluids. Now Im a retired nurse. I knew every 72 hrs that IV would need to be changed and as needed. Mother would be suffering more just to try and find a Good vien. So I stopped had it stopped. Having worked as a hospice nurse, I knew patients at the end of life do not feel the hunger or thirst. But I wasnt thinking as a nurse, I was thinking as a daughter. So here before any of these people knew my mothers condition. I was a murderer, withholding food, water, and meds. And that, Catholics are never withheld any of these tbings. Yet they are withheld communion if they have Dementia, because you must know what you are doing. Then Im told off because my mothers ashes may be scattered in the ocean, her favorite place. Or in Texas over along side of her parents and family gravesite. Then I receive a call from a cousin Ive not heard from in 55 yrs. Telling me its against the law to do what I plan to do. I asked what law? The Texas law? She said, The Catholic law wow!I never thought things were so complicated with the Catholic church. They are so sterile that they might just sanitize themselves from the world.I can go on with my experiences when I was a Roman Catholic... But I wont. I just remember becoming a Christian. I said to the wonderful lady who led me to Christ Jesus. Is that it? Because to become a Catholic, its a long process Id youre born into the religion, or if you want to become one. She said,
