Tour lasted about two hours, was originally trying to do the Beach tour but that’s suspended til further notice. Would have been very appreciated if this information was posted on the site prior to purchasing the tickets. My friend and I planned to get off the hop on/off bus to walk around but it seemed that the day we went, they had sold too many tickets. We just sat through the whole ride so we were able to get back. Many people were waiting at the stops to be picked up for at least an hour in almost 110 degree weather.
Great tour! Wonderful, caring staff! I left a package on the tour bus. As well as losing a hearing aid. The customer service staff went out of their way to help me retrieve both items. Guides Jack and Rodney were super funny and engaging. Had a great time!
Great way to see the city in a short period. You can jump off where you want to explore more. Even with limited seating due to Covid did not have any trouble getting back on a Trolley. Being a new traveller to SD this was a perfect introduction. Definitely worth the money. And you also get history and trivia from the drivers along the way.
I highly recommend this tour. Tour guides were very personable and knowledgeable. Nice to be able to get off and back on later.
A bit unorganized. App is very glitchy. The day before I was supposed to go I called and they told me to be at the stop at 9 in the morning and they will sell me tickets before heading out at 9:30. I get there at 9:15 no one‘s there 925 still no one so then I call the main number and then she tells me that somebody will be there. I tell her that I need to purchase a ticket and she says that I won’t be able to purchase it at that stop but she can help me out over the phone. Since I did the night tour before hand I was told I would get a $10 discount, The sales rep tells me that that won’t apply and I will only get a partial discount. What a scam! DO NOT DO THE NIGHT TOUR! City Lights, or something like that. They zoom by places and you can’t even see what you are supposed to see. Furthermore I didn’t see the city lights they more or less just showed me the daytime attractions but again it’s dark I thought they will be lit up. Waste of money and time.
A great way to get a guided tour of the city. You hop off and on and see the sights that youre most interested in. You cant possibly see it all in one day, but this gives you a preview and you can drive back and spend more time in the areas that interest you the most.
Can we go ahead and give the trolley 10 stars? All the drivers were AMAZING. And each stop on the trip was an adventure on its own. Each location can very easily be its own day trip. A few of the more popular locations can be a bit of a wait if the trolley fills up (Cornado and Balboa Park). But I think the company sent an extra trolley for those that had to wait.
I purchased our tickets online at a slight discount, so that helped. I recommend taking this tour pretty early on in your trip. It will expose you to many different areas of SD, and then pick out areas you would like to focus more time on later. The drivers were all good. Everyone had their own style of delivering the information, but they all had interesting little nuggets. The trolleys were clean and fairly new. The hop on hop off feature is great. You can use it as Transportation, more so if you had the two day pass ( we did not ). The ride over the Coronado bridge brought up the pucker factor because the trolley is basically open air and it gets windy up there. Beautiful views!
We live in San Diego and yet this was the first time weve ever done this tour.We were staying downtown for a function and decided the Trolley would be a great way to spend our Sunday. Our driver RODGER was amazing and the Covid-19 precautions that have been implemented made us feel very safe.Well definitely be back onboard soon!
JACK was the best tour guide we have ever encountered! Fun, informative about the local area and educational - could not have asked for a better intro to San Diego!
It was the best 37.00 spent. Tour guy Scott was funny. Great information. Day in Coronado was amazing.
We took the tour from seaport if you used them before keep your tickets as you get $10 discount on your tourGreat tour 10 stops. The driver BOXCAR was the BEST you can ever have so funny and entertaining. The tour is a bit over 2 hours but you can hop on and off and can be a whole day thingThe last bus departs at 5P from Old town or Coronado island it is $42 all worth it
We had a GREAT TIME on the tour. Saw sites we would not have seen otherwise learned so much about San Diego that we would have NEVER known. WELL WELL worth the time and money.
Great way to see the city. Jack was our main driver and he was awesome, knowledgeable, and hilarious!
Fantastic way to get to know San Diego! Great narrative of the history and little known facts and stories. Thank you Zoo Man! You truly were the best!
Susie was GREAT; I learned a lot on this tour!
I didn’t care for the fact that purchasing the tickets was an ordeal and I even have the app but that was not very helpful. I also don’t appreciate that the tour stops mid afternoon so you can’t really even enjoy all the places you want to see.
Fun date night activities. We did the Ghost and Grave tour with the Whaleys House Tour. We had a great time. We learned a lot of things and very entertaining. Our tour guide Morty did a very good job make sure you tip him. Put your comfy shoes on you will do some walking. I highly recommend it.
Very knowledgeable of the entire city of San Diego... loved the drivers we had (especially Jon, Rodney, Vinnie and Looney)! Their fun facts were great... and their recommendations were spot on!
Wonderful place to go, fun things to see.
Very knowledgeable tour, great experience had! Good spooky vibe. Our tour guide was great! Ending with the Whaley house!
These guys are fantastic! I did this tour alone and would have never been able to figure out all the cool locations with this much ease. The guides are equipped with a perfect mix of personality and historic knowledge. I enjoyed the masterful storytelling and the gorgeous locations. Photos are from some of the locations I visited. Tons of history here and I walked away with an experience I will never forget.
Great trip, the drivers are very friendly & accommodating. They provide a detailed map & very detailed information. The staff at the stops are also extremely helpful, thanks!
Monday August 17 2020 bought 2 Tickets for the San Diego Trolley Tour.I feel they have reopened too soon.I called in advance before I purchased my tickets.I asked the employee if we took the tour would the business be open and would there be anything to do considering this Covid situation. He said yes, lots of the businesses were now open. This is far from the truth.I spent almost $100 on tickets for 2.You can go to Coranado Beach and eat off a food truck (thats their restraunt right now), there are lots of restaunts open if you want to eat outside on this very hot humid day and a few shops were open in Old town. The Zoo was open but you have to pay the entrance fee and that would be a thing to do when you have a whole day.I feel the employee should have been truthful with me and let me decide if that was worth it. The driver pointed out many featured places to go and see but are not yet open still because of Covid closures. I complained to a gentleman at the ticket counter when we returned from the day. He didnt feel it was that big of a deal.I drove my car 2 hours on my only day off in weeks and spent almost $100.of my hard earned dollars when I could have driven myself to the beach for free.I would not recommend you take this tour at this time unless they lower the price to half until the businesses, museums Etc.. reopen.
All the conductors have been wonderful: entertaining and knowledgeable. Each person puts their own spin on the standard tour, so you learn something new even if youve ridden that section before. Convenient stops and safe driving.
The stops were convenient and the bus came frequently. My only wish is that they had more stops and more buses. One bus we got on was completely full and couldnt fit any more passengers.
Our guide Jardel was terrible. He did not enforce passengers to wear masks. A passenger had to tell 2 other passengers to put their masks back on. Jardel did not prevent a passenger from Vaping.A family boarded the tour at Balboa park. A few minutes later the child started screaming and never quit screamin until they got off the tour bus in Little Italy. Our guide got mad at me because I asked to have someone get the kid to stop screaming. The guide told me to stop commenting on the distraction and it was ok because the kid was a child.I did not pay $40.00 nor did the other passengers pay to hear a kid scream non stop.We did not get a guided tour. Instead we had to endure a out of control kid SCREAMING.

We had a wonderful tour and the guides are amazing!
Our first driver was very knowledgeable and professional. We had Alex on the second half of the tour and he was knowledgeable, courteous and ENTERTAINING!!! He made the whole tour very engaging with everyone on board. I would do it again on our next visit, thats how great it was! Theres many stops you can get off on. We got off on Cornados Island and ride back to the Gaslamp District where our hotel was. Perfect tour all around.
Many stops which is a plus. It is with the money. I suggest going first thing it typically goes from 9-5. If you start late chances are you will not be able to see it all. Friendly and helpful. We took a wheelchair and they lifted it up and down the stairs of the trolley every time. Cute trolleys, fun to ride, and comfortable.
Ive lived in San Diego for nearly 20 years. This tour allowed us to see the city in a way we never had before. Highly recommend for both those who live here and those who are just visiting.
We bought our tickets on their website so we could be prepared and ready because after all we were celebrating my birthday! Well we go to check in at the Old Town ticket booth and first thing I told the lady was here are our tickets we bought them online and first thing she says is you shouldve bought them here because we get commission. Wow what a big turn off, I feel as a customer I should be able to buy through whatever platform I want to especially since I bought through the companys website. Our first driver was Deb, she was great!!!! If you get drivers Deb or Milo you will definitely be impressed, they both make it a very personal experience. We stayed on the trolley until Seaport village, we got off and stayed there for twenty minutes then hopped back on, the trolley came on time and there were no issues. Next we got off at gaslamp (F) and decided we walk through gaslamp and Petco park and get on at (G). Well that was a big mistake getting on at (G). I DONT recommend getting on or off at this stop definitely not a good stop! And during that time there was a homeless man had a weapon in his hand walking toward us and the policeman was trying to stop him from coming our way anymore then be did, finally the policeman stopped him. Having a child with us, we definitely felt extra unsafe at this stop. We waited over 20mins for the next trolley to come and when it did come, it was full. They called an empty trolley to come, by the time that trolley was coming another trolley was infront of it but that trolley was full too. Finally when the empty trolley came, we had waited just over 35mins. When we sat down. The trolley conductor asked us, what happened, they called me and said there were angry people waiting if that conductor meant it as a joke or not it wasnt appropriate to say. We got off at Coronado and Balboa Park and those went smooth. All in all just know that just because the trolley comes to each stop approximately every 20mins doesnt mean you will be getting on it due to the fact the trolley is either full coming to the stop or there are too many people waiting for the trolley and not enough open seats. I am not sure if we would take this trolley again.
Has a great time on the Hop On Hop Off trolley tour of San Diego. Its a great stress free way to experience the city. The drivers were awesome. They kept us entertained between stops with music, local sites, history, and corny jokes. It was a good time.
I have used them in several other cities and the tour guides are very knowledgeable of the local history. Can be expensive if you are with a family of three or more.
It was AWESOME experience!
Fun and educational. We took the San Diego to Coronado island tour and had a great time seeing the city.
A little late on departure, but a great tour. Hop on or Hop off at multiple stops throughout San Diego. Lunch at Sallys Fish House and Bar.
Great tour. Tim was our guide and had jokes for every traffic signal.I also learned about San Diego on a level that I was unaware of.
I bought tickets online for a discount and they had a pickup and drop off point right in front of my hotel in the marina area. It couldnt have been more convenient. The drivers are very friendly, and the buses are very clean and comfortable. I never had a problem getting on a bus as others have said. They seem to run on time, and although most of the buses were almost full, I was never turned away and always managed to find a seat. The tour covers a decent area of San Diego and will also get you out to Coronado Island and back. The only downside I have for this tour, is their operating hours. If you are trying to squeeze as much as possible into one day, you will not get to see a lot. I recommend a two day pass if you want to take your time. The buses don’t run very late. I think the last one left Coronado Island at 4p or 5p.Pro Tip - if you want a dollar discount, open up a chat session with one of their support agents. Just ask some random questions, and you’ll get a coupon code for $1 off each ticket. What I didnt like - they made you wear a sticker on your shirt to get on and off of the bus. I got off at one stop near Petco park and wandered into a seedy area to check out a brewery. I wasnt overly thrilled to advertise the fact that I was an out of town tourist.
Absolutely loved our experience on “Bella” the new White Wedding Trolley! We were lucky enough to learn about Old Town Trolley Tours and their unique white trolley just a month before our wedding. Jeanette and Ren helped us to plan transportation to multiple locations in Balboa Park for our wedding photos and made the experience as easy as possible. Charlie (our driver) was great on the day of our event and safely got us to and from our various locations. Our bridal party and everyone we drove past had a blast. We traveled in style, got some unforgettable photos, and will always have memories of this special experience.
We had a great time. Our tour guide Rodney was the best. We highly recommend him!
The experience of riding through the city learning about yesteryear and how this fare city came to be was sensational! Who knew Wyatt Earp built up part of downtown or that San Diego is the lima bean capital of the world!?! This was an entertaining and educational way to spend a day or an afternoon hopping on and off the trolley finding your new hidden hideaway. I highly recommend Old Town Trolley Tours! Deb was great.
Great tour of old Town and downtown San Diego, Coronado island and Balboa Park, are amongst the highlights. Its a 2 hour tour with very interesting narration along the way. There are 10 stops and you can hop off and hop on at any of them with the next trolley coming every 20 minutes. Highly recommended.
Excellent way to get around San Diego and Coronado. The guides are very knowledgeable and give you information in a fun way.
First off I want to commend EVERY SINGLE INDIVIDUAL we met along the way that is part of your staff! They are hilarious, extremely customer service oriented and you can absolutely tell that they LOVE what they do which made the actual experience incredible. Your entire staff gets a 5 star. The reason why this is a 3 star review however, is because there are a few logistical things that need a little work. At our first stop the first 3 trolleys were full and most of the stops we werent able to get on the next trolley. Most stops we waited a minimum of 1 trolley before getting on to the next one :( The good thing is your staff promptly communicated with dispatch about this issue so they absolutely did what they needed to.The other thing that needs some work is the map. I understand that it is a bit difficult but a couple of the points of reference on the map were not where they were meant to. i would almost want to see an expanded map somewhere so we have a better idea of distances between the points that are being referenced. And maybe schedules of places that you are recommending as one of the museums was closed and we went there at 2:30 PMOther than that, as mentioned every single person on your staff we met was incredible and you are lucky to have such a dedicated staff they made the issues we experience feel a bit better due to their customer service. And the stops were all perfect.Thank you to your team! And hopefully you guys can sort out some of the small logistical things because you have an amazing tour and staff!
Old Town Trolley Tours is a fun way to see San Diego. They offer several different packages and tours including a San Diego city lights night tour, a jungle/safari package, and a seal tour. You can save money by purchasing your tickets online. Definitely worth checking out.
I have been to San Diego four times and the last three times I used Old Town Trolley Tours. Using them is the perfect way to see the city in a relaxed and safe setting. I actually recommend using their service the first or second day that you arrive because it will really help you decide which parts of the area you may want to visit later on your own. Your trolley driver is also your tour guide. The ones that I have had were knowledgeable and funny. They all made the tour very enjoyable.
Its the best tours in town. Especially when you can hop on and off all day. I also love the seal tour we sometimes do both.
The tour guides were professional, on time and informative. I had a great time on the city tour and the La Jolla tour. All the drivers were fantastic but especially Susie who is really enthusiastic and made sure everyone had a great time. I highly recommend you take the Old Town Trolley tours when in San Diego, you won’t be disappointed!!!
I live locally and I’ve taken the Old Town Trolley several times. It is a great way to see different areas of the city. It’s nice that you can get off and on at 10 different locations. For me, the best part are the tour drivers. On this trip our first driver was not very good because of this we got off at Sea Port Village. We got back on when the next trolley came. Mike was our next driver and he was Fantastic! His knowledge and his personality are wonderful we almost didn’t want to get off. When we got back on Tim was our next driver and he was also good along with his funny stop light jokes.Whether you’re a tourist or a local, I recommend the Old Town Trolley. You will learn history about our city and you are able to see so many places in San Diego.
We got on and off several times. It was way more convenient than trying to find parking places everywhere. Every guide we had was fun, laid back and very knowledable. It was a great way to see a good portion of San Diego and gave us great ideas for places to stop and explore!!
Great tour! Great people! Great City! See it all with their version of transportainment!!
It took us to all the big tourist spots in San Diego. My only complaints would be that it took a long time, especially since it went to Coronado Island (which we were not getting off at anyways). The tour ends a little early, so getting to all the spots in one day was a bit hurried. The drivers were very entertaining and knowledgeable though. I would definitely recommend it as a way to get your bearings on the first day of a vacation.
Evening City Lights tour is awesome. Jeff, tour guide on Oct 1st is excellent. Very knowledgeable about the city and gave us additional places to visit wed never known about. Thanks Jeff for making the tour wonderful for first time visitors.
All of the drivers that I encountered were entertaining, knowledgeable, and safe. Whenever I travel to a city that have the trolley tours, I always take them. It helps me get a bearing on the city and provides history and valuable information so I know how to spend my time.
I went on the Holiday Lights tour in December of 2019 and had SUCH an amazing time! I figured it would be pleasant at best, but ended up having a total blast! Our conductor was a hoot (I cant remember his name, but he was a San Diego native and MBHS alum), sharing stories, history, and good times with all.The singalongs were so much fun! Please check this out - I will now recommend this to locals and tourists alike. Its one of the most joufully Christmas-y things Ive ever done in SD.Thanks for the festive fun!
We had the best tour guides! Each had their own style. Jack was our favorite- his stories and jokes were the best. Bob was very entertaining as well. Jim made sure even the little kids were having fun. We were able to get off of the trolley at multiple locations and explore and get back on tthe trolley, unlimited times. Free access to multiple museums on the tour, so awesome. Overall customer service was great, trolley stops were timely. Highly recommend!!!
From the sales managers to the tour guides, this Trolley Tour company is exceptional! We were able to customize our tour for our group purchase. They answered all my questions in a timely manner and were so considerate. We had such a lovely time and learned a great deal. We would definitely book them again. Thank you!We recommend the tour company offer audio headsets that tune into what the tour guide is saying (unless they already do offer this and we just didnt know about it) for those who have trouble hearing.
I had a great tour today with Philip and Alex (Alejandro). I loved the live narration and humor of the tour guides. The only thing to note is that the trolleys are not exactly on time, so you might need to wait for next one.
Save your money and Uber around town. Trolleys were full each time as it passed our stop ~ making the wait time closer to 40 minutes, not 20 minutes as advertised. This happened at two of the four stops. Would not recommend.
A simple way to see San Diego
Great experience and place to get in touch with the old San Diego. Sometimes it gets crowded and you may have to wait at some stops for another trolley to come pick you up, specially if your party is large.
First time and Ill be back love it thanks
Really enjoyed. If you get there early, this is a very well-priced way to get a tour of the town. Jump off any time, have an explore, then get back on. The guides are funny and informative. All good.
Would have been wonderful if our train had arrived on time. No tour
We did the holiday Christmas lights tour. We didnt visit any neighborhoods with Christmas lights. We visited Coronado but not any neighborhoods. Just went around the hospital & back to Old Town. Went through gas lamp & little Italy. Very disappointed.
Loved most of our drivers, and the narration was fun and interesting, even on the highway. Stops were conveniently located. Only four stars because there were not enough trolleys. We had to wait twenty minutes for the next trolley so that we missed our shuttle. The system was also not explained very well in the beginning and our stickers kept falling off. Pins would be better!
We went to many places and very informative
Great way to see San Diego and Coronado. Its a lot cheaper than ubering. 10 stops, you get on and off all day from 8 am to 5 pm. They pick up at all 10 stops about every 20 to 30 minutes. Old Town was really nice.
Great tour with Milo. We had a great time, and would be interested in other tours with this company!
Food was good. Margarita was great as well. Super service.
Very informative and funny guides. Enjoyed the tour. Dont think I can make the 6415 jokes to go though. But its nice they try lol. This trolley is a great way to get around San Diego! They deserve the tips. Great job guys thank you very much for a fun tour!
San Diego is such a beautiful city that a bus tour is a no brainer.
Our driver named Slim was great. Very informative and safe drive.
This is an awesome experience to tour the city on your first day to San Diego. You hit all the main attractions so you can visit them in detail later. Kaye was amazing conductor
Great way to see the best attractions around San Diego. Hop on hop off allows you to cover many different areas of town without having to drive yourself.
Well worth the price, especially if you start early morning. You can enjoy a lot more. I have to recommend coranado beach, its a must stop the water is amazing.
My family and I had an awesome experience the last time and we look forward to taking more family this weekend.!!!!
Very prompt and knowledgeable drivers. Great way to have a tour of the city.
Its a great way to take the city tour. At your own pace and visiting the places of your interest. The trolley s frequency could be better
We have done hop on and off all over the place including Europe. This one was not good. I want to know about historical buildings, how San Diego was founded, not all the good places to eat. Couldnt hear when they drove on the expressway. Very hit or miss with the tour guides. My suggestion, do uber and plan your own tour. Ride public transportation. This was a huge waste of money and I have never felt that way with these kinds of tours.
Great Value. Great peopleIt offers 10 hop on hop off stops. The drivers are very knowledgeable. And make it a fun trip.
LOVED IT!! HILARIOUS!! The tour guides were amazing Jeff and Rodney. It was so good, we were wanting to go again. It was all fun and the drop offs were great. And pick ups were fast. Every 20 minutes. It hit really good sites and the guides knew really interesting facts/stories
If your planning a trip to San Diego I would recomend the Trolley tours. These tours go all over the city and are great for seeing different sites with out having to worry about parking or getting lost. The tours give local information on all the tourists spots along the way that make the trip that much more enjoyable. The trolleys run every 30 minutes so you dont have to wait to long and when you are ready to leave, you dont have to wait long to be picked up.
Convenient way to see San Diego. Our experience varied according to drivers and ticket staffers. Jack, one of our drivers, was hilariously funny, friendly and knowledgeable. The other drivers were also friendly.I am only rating this 3 stars because when I first got on the trolley at its main starting point in the Old Town, my wife was 30 seconds behind me. The ticket taker was rather rude and said unkindly that she better hurry up because they are not waiting. She of course made it in plenty of time. But that attitude did not sit well with me. Fortunately all other staff were wonderful. It just takes one bad apple...
This was a waste of money. Why? Because we took the trolley at 4 00pm their was no time to get off the trolley and walk round and get on the next one. I should had gotten on my car follow the trolley route map that they give you and we could had have a better time at Coronado island. If you have a car with you dont waste your money.
Class! Seen it in a hundred movies and loved the early morning ride from the bay to downtown. Gets busy on the return journey with long queues though.
I love the tour but be careful about buying more than one day. They will give you the run around and then finally tell you THERE ARE NO REFUNDS!
We took part in the beach tour on Monday with Larry it’s a brilliant tour and Larry is an excellent tour guide such a lovely man. I really recommend this tour to anyone
Regarding GRAVES AND GRAVESTONES Tour..... incredibly disappointed by their lack of compassion and willingness to make things right. I heard about this tour more than 10 years ago and finally had the opportunity for my 40th birthday so this was a big deal for me. I purchase the tickets online, and received an email with instructions to register online before the tour. I did so, and then showed up a half hour before as I was instructed, even though I could not understand why I had to check in twice, once online and again in person. Then Katherine told me that I was supposed to check in with her. Even as I was trying to explain the confusion, she would not hear it, and kept repeating herself, saying its with me you check in. And then, as if to throw it in my face, she pointed at the couple who had just left the booth and told me that she had just sold my tickets to them. Even after we called the tour company, they refused to issue a refund, even after I had purchased two other tours from them for the same weekend. Apparently they DO NOT actually honor their 100% satisfaction guarantee that they advertise.
Great tour with lots to see! Stops at very iconic spots and fun places to walk around. The trolley drivers are knowledgeable and great at pointing out things
Nearly 2 hours of narrated tour with hop on hop off stops at 10 major tourist areas in San Diego and Coronado. Helpful staff onboard and at most stops.
Best way to see and experience San Diego. Would recommend to anyone visiting. Worth the value.
This hop on-hop off trolley tour is the BEST way to see and learn about San Diego.Drivers were knowledgeable and very polite. We saved our feet, and just sat back and relaxed. Some drivers get a little too talkative, but we just got off at next stop and wait a few minutes for the next trolley.Bring money- its not cheap.
It was fun. Felt more relaxed and alot less s try restful than trying to find my way around town to see things.
Had only 1day in San Diego so this was a perfect way to see what the city has to offer. Great tour by Bob and I love the city.
