The actual name of the statue, based on the plate, is Embracing Peace. Is located in a small park together with the Fish Market and restaurant. Plenty of parking at $2.50 hr if you visit from 8AM-8PM. It also has views of the bay and North Island. The park is connected to a trail that links the park with the boardwalk. You can literally walk from this park all the way up to little italy in about 20 min one way. Plenty to see around the area.
We took a tour of SD on a very hot summer day. This was one of the highlights of the day. Great views, historic image in statue form, shades under trees, space on the grass, and a cool breeze. Would definitely come back with family and friends for a nice picnic.
A beautiful park and memorial for our soldiers who are out there serving our country. A moment once captured that displays our affection, shows strength, gives hope, and encapsulates happiness. Plenty of walking area with some seating for relaxing at the park. Nice location for sunsets, awesome photos to be taken. The statue looks great at different angles of light and when it silhouettes, as well as the aircraft carrier to the north. Go Navy.
Visit with family and friends enjoying time and looking at new sites that San Diego has to offer to all of us.
Its such a cool spot. The views are amazing, the statue is historic and iconic. From here you can walk for miles along the embarcadero. Check out the Midway or Seaport Village.
A picture taking opportunity along the San Diego Harbor commemorating the legendary photo of a sailor kissing a nurse in Times Square, New York City celebrating V-J Day (Victory over Japan. A smaller version is located in Sarasota. Take it for what it is.
The place brings in a Romantic mood. Its a nice place to hang out.
Fun spot to go and walk around. Very nice.
Very popular place in San Diego. This is right next to USS Midway Museum. Statue is very tall, you can see it from USS Midway as well. You will find lot of tourists taking pictures here. It is a challenge to get a picture without having a stranger in your photo! There is a grass area near the statue where we relaxed a bit after the visit to USS Midway. A nice place to visit!
What a beautiful meaningful statue. If you are in San Diego you have to come and see this. We spent the day in the city and walked from the Gaslamp quarter (about 20 mins walk) but there was a large parking area not far from the statue. Just stunning.
This is a very good piece to get away from all the city lights and life hteat view andjust telaxing
Beautiful simply a lovely sight to see
Loved my visit at the Kissing Sailor Statue, view of the Harbor and the USS Midway all in one place. Easy and close parking.
A great statue. Beautiful scenery. A must see
Unconditional Surrender Statue just a status of kiss couple, and here is not only good place for photos with the statue, but also another view point for USS Midway. You can also enjoy your walk to the coast. Here with parking right next to the park, but the parking only valid for hours, so not a good choice if you are going to visit USS Midway
Great statue. Its huge and fun. They should provide more context around the statue, and not something to remember peace.
An amazing statue depicting a powerful moment in American history. It is also in an incredible part of downtown with lots to see.
Good spot for pictures
Clean area, beautiful place, a most go stop!
Masterpiece! Symbol of world peace, full of romance in war time! What’s interesting to me is that this famous sculpture is put in front of the retired US navy carrier, it kind of delivers such a message that the peace and love is protected by strong military and power! True but very US way of expression ;)
Huge statue! Embrace Peace is a lovely message below this iconic statue. Busy park, but easy to get photos.
Amazing place, the sunsets are breathtaking. The statue is just impressive
You never know what life throws at you
Nice area and of course everybody needs to see it if you visit San Diego.
Very patriot place you fill de american dream
Beautiful sculpture of one of the famous photos taken in history! It felt so real just as I stood below. Overall, the little village they had with shops around downtown San Diego is a great time killer. Would go again. :)
Very nice, very romantic with your lady
There was a man proposing his girlfriend under the statue. How sweet it was!
What more needs to be said. A “Life Magazine” and photo classic of the V-J Day on August 14th, 1945. Of the US Sailor kissing a Nurse in Times Square in New York City. This recreated statue was a tribute to wars to end all wars from the greatest generation.
I would like to give them 5 stars but the parking closes rather early but the location is great for families
A great place to take a picture with your other half :)
Beautiful, huge statue of a kissing couple.
Great by the bay kind of ambiance, lots of things to see, so scenic!.
The statue was huge and amazing to see in person! There were many tourists admiring and taking photos. There are also benches to sit on and just take it in and admire it.
Great spot for lovely pictures, specially at night.
Larger than life, great spot for a photo and walk along the seaport
A must see. Very cool area to just walk around.
Historic Place where you can spend 2-3 hours and take good clicks..
Amazing statue as a symbol of peace and love. I never thought this statue is so huge. You really have to visit this place if you are coming to San Diego. It is also very nice walking area next to the sea. Place is close to a few good restaurants and tourists spots. It made me thinking how US was symbol of peace at that time, which is, unfortunately, completely opposite today.
San Diego is such a beautiful city... We were captured by it. Everything you see is so nice. Loved it.
A great piece of American history. In a beautiful park.
Simply beautiful.
Interesting area, Midway, Bob Hope memorial.
This place was overall great. The statues were beautiful and the view around the area was beautiful. Parking was hard as there isnt a lot, but thats not a big issue. Overall a good place to check out while visiting San Diego.
As a means to not forget the past and remember the joyful events that unfurled on American soil thereafter, the year 1945 saw this statue be erected. Set on a pristine blue-turquoise sea backdrop, this area is picture perfect as is and for selfies.
Our first time seeing this well known tourist attraction, and it was worth the wait! While there was a bit of crowd, this was a cool statue.
The statutes are cool and super tall
Great park and beautiful statue
San Diego is one of the best city in USA. Clean organize and warm. And old town is cool.
Such a fun area of San Diego! Definitely a picture worthy spot!
Beautiful place to visit had a great time.
Great spot for a long walk by the USS San Diego
Beautiful place, but hard to park:(
It’s my go to spot when i use to go on dates a lot. Not because they would like it. It’s because I like going there. It has a nice romantic setting and it helps me get to know my date a lot better. Since, you have that one on time and you don’t get much of that distraction like the nightclubs or bars. The view is so beautiful and it’s breath taking. This 25 foot statue is a definite attraction! I loved it!!
Bigger than expected! Really pretty views and tons to see - walk around or sit and hangout on a bench
We were lucky to be able to visit this site in the rain. Fun photo opportunity dont miss this stop if you are in the area
Cute place to snap a pic while you wait for the USS Midway to open.
Dont pass this up. Great photo opportunity even at night.
We love the kissing statue. Me and my husband try to go every year and take pic. Its a great monument of how love use to capture us. The job hope monument is right behind there also and the uss ship is next store. Very cheap to go in and walk around. We love San Diego its beautiful and very historic. I had no idea how much history took place in San Diego. Take some of the cruzes and walks and museums in when you go, they wont disappoint. Theres also the zoo and sea world. We went to both and loved it.
Magnificent statue.
It was on my way to work, didnt know its a landmark in SD. The statue is really big and nice match with warship nearby.
Walking distance from hotels, embarcadero and the convention center.
Worth a visit if you are new to San Diego, even a better visit if you go around sunrise or later at night to get the statue to yourself!
So enjoyed seeing this iconic monument of a single moment in history. This statue has a backdrop of the bay and the USS Midway.
It’s a beautiful statue with great scenery. My wife was very happy to have a picture taken there for instagram. Totally worth the cab ride from Gaslamp.
Great place to watch the sunset
Supernicr place to take pics and beautiful view of the sea
The size of this statue is impressive.
Such a breath taking place.
Such a large and amazing statue!
As we know it, you have to visit here
Its worth visiting
This inspiring statue is a beautiful tribute to the infamous couple kissing in Times Square when celebrate the end of World War II, a MUST SEE in San Diego, dont miss it.
Nice photogenic area to be :)
The Great American feeling of victory. This area epitomizes what America can do and feel when it is unified and fights for right.
Lovely statue here in San Diego. Theres also another one located in Sarasota Florida too.
Great statue, close to a lot of tourist hot spots and great restaurants so youre not going out of your way. Its best to go during the day, or towards sunset. At night, theres a lot of harsh lighting and its harder to shoot the detail of it. Directly behind it is the USS Midway Museum, and that makes for a great picture. Just in front of the USS Midway Museum is a parking lot - $10 flat parking for the day. And its a nice walk from there to the statue.
I always wanted that photo! Me and my fiance visited San Diego just recently and we arrive this place to take this picture, what a Romantic moment! :D
Good place for pictures
Beautiful statue! Get here early in the morning to avoid crowds in your photos
Nicely done statue, lots to do and explore around.
Awesome. Very Beautiful...
Great spot to grab a photo and get some great history knowledge. I was lucky enough to see and meet some current serving service men and women while visiting.
Clean. Police presence so I felt safe. Talented performer today with piccolo. Easy to park, not too crowded (but it was a cold day). Great photos ... I recommend coming here at sunset during winter.
This place is peaceful, i enjoy the beautiful ocean view. The statue of the nurse and the kissing the man is breathtaking. This is a nice place to go on a week day at 2pm to avoid traffic and find parking. There is also musicians who perform here. Hope you enjoy, i certainly always do.
