Lively lovely downtown districts - one of the best in the United States of America! Old red light district converted now into an eclectic blend of cafes strip bars breakfast joints pubs and bars! A stones throw from the convention centre and the business district as well as the harbour front hotels. Evenings are particularly fun!

Lunch special during the day are quite decent and s lot of restaurants offer them. This section of the city leading to the convention center has a lot of galleries showcasing the best of San Diego. Wait for the evening for an even livelier atmosphere where gastropubs and restaurant facades will knock you off your feet.

Really hard to get parking but other than that this place is lit! The best bars and restaurants in San Diego is here. As I got there during Comic Con season, the roads were closed and the crowd was huge, most of the restaurants here are wheelchair friendly and the price for the food and drinks are reasonable.

This was a blast. So much down in that section. Old world style, National Geographic, the baseball stadium, Balboa Theatre, and more! BIRD scooters are everywhere, so theres not even a need to walk if you so desire. This area connects to the greater train system to link you to stops such as San Ysidro, Mission Valley, Fashion Valley, Old Town, and even the University.

If youre visiting San Diego, you have to stop by the Gaslamp Quarter. There are so many restaurants, bars, stores and experiences to see here. Its a historic city, so throughout there are small historical points to read about. The park behind the convention center is beautiful too. If youre here in mid-July, youre in for a treat, Comic con. You dont need badges to enjoy. The fun is all throughout the Gaslamp Quarter.

The neighborhood can be improved with More retail and less restaurant, would be even more great to spend time There if there would be a better walking arena with less traffic. its a nightmare to go out there in the weekend because the traffic. There are lesser reason to go in gaslam also during the week or the day because there are only restaurants

Great very walkable tourist downtown. Locals populate the venues, keeping it real. Restaurants, shops, dance clubs, hotels, and bars galore plus a major league baseball stadium are the anchors. The transit station on Broadway (adjacent to the Gaslamp) accesses the trolleys, Amtrak and Metro commuter trains along with bus routes. And as of this writing, those app-driven electric scooters and bikes are literally scattered about, so even walking is optional. Like nearly all California cities, homeless tents are strewn about here too, but the inhabitants are at least currently not as militant as say those in say San Francisco. Once youre done, eating, drinking, clubbing, and shopping, a bus or train can whisk you away to the beautiful Balboa Park and Zoo area or the oceanfront Embarcadero in minutes. Always a fantastic visit whether Im bringing kids, adults, or just myself.

This hole area (between 4th and 6th street starting at broadway and going down to the pier) is an absolute trainwreck at best theres 2 maybe 3 places worth checking out but most of it is expensive tasteless garbage and some of it is so bad that the stores dont stay for long. Its mostly overly hyped up expensive bars/restaurants, dumpy/shady clubs, overpriced knockoffs/novelty stores, a few hole in the wall pawnshops, and a mix of hotels and hostels (which includes the Hard Rock) aside from the previous mentioned hotel there are a couple of places worth checking out such as the Ghirardelli store and the movie theater ( which was recently put under new management and turned into a candy store/theater). All in all though its definitely not even close to the most interesting part of downtown even Comic-Con hasnt been able to save it the last like 3 years most people just go down to the bay or hangout in the convention center area

This is a very lively part of Downtown San Diego. It was visibly animated because of the influx of people to the area especially during my visit. I lodge within the quarters and so it was possible to gauge the activities within the quarters. A lot of bars and shops are located within it. Many of the shops will not close until around midnight. Aso live music and dance are daily activities here. Strategically, it is walking distance to the San Diego Convention Center which is one of the largest convention center within the country.

I was expecting an absolute tourist trap, but I was pleasantly surprised. There is a gift shop at the entrance, but prices inside were reasonable. The restaurants were our reason for visiting though. We ate a UNION Tap, Mickeys, Mary Janes, Rockin Baja Lobster, and Chocolat Cremerie; and we enjoyed them all. If you only have time for one try Rockin Baja Lobster. There is also quite a bit of shopping. Mostly chain stores, but a few boutiques worth a browse. Even if you arent a fan a wine or liquor give Wine Bank a tour if only for the unique layout. Think Olivanders wand shop from Harry Potter, but for adults.
