That is the most beautiful place in San Diego! It smells history and you feel yourself part of past and present. All historic buildings and pavements keep its unique character. Even people jump to higher vibrational state when been present in that area. Friendly environment and funny decoration makes this place unforgettable. Highly recommend to visit local bars and restaurants.
Dont let the title fool you. Havent seen real old buildings. Most of them are rebuilded like in a theme park. If you want to taste the Mexican (romanticised) hype/ambiance it is the place to be though, but still: its a theme park. Maybe its an alternative for the real Mexico, where you have to travel two more hours to the south.
This park is unbelievable. Its a testament to how much San Franciscans love their city that they continuously fund this gem of a park rather than sell off the property for the untold billions it could get on the real estate market. This park has a science museum, an art museum, a conservatory, a botanical garden, a tea garden, two windmills, a bison field, an archery range, a golf course, an outdoor roller rink, and tons of other stuff. Theres a convenient shuttle to move you from one side to the other, which is good because this park is THREE MILES LONG (its a larger area than Central Park in NY). There are also bike rentals if you dont want to walk.
Beautiful historic State Park with lots of beautiful architecture to admire. There are also plenty of places to buy souvenirs from and restaurants to eat. Make sure to arrive before the museums close which is usually 5 p.m. There are also tours that you can take that start at the state park for an additional fee. The state park and the museums within are free. A fantastic place to stop for all you history buffs! Please make sure to stop and admire the individuals who are in period costume.
I hope San Diego residents recognize how lucky they are to have such a huge span of beautiful park land right in the middle of the city. Its a lovey place to walk around, boats several museums and attractions and if youre not planning on staying all day has a decent amount of free parking.
Great experience. fantastic place. everything authentic. it feels like in old mexico as if everything stayed the same. good opportunities to eat and drink. There are also souvenir shops.
Let me start by saying that I hate the whole car-buying experience. I do not like how some car salesmen would treat female clients. That being said I do a lot of research online before I even step into a showroom. I made the mistake of going to one in the East Bay. I was looking for a hybrid RAV4 AWD. Soon as I stepped out of my car, the hard sale started. This particular dealership did not have exactly what I wanted so I decided to leave. Needless to say, my phone wont stop ringing for weeks. I had to block the calls.
Always a great place to visit
Great for souvenirs and food. Go on a Saturday so you can enjoy the farmers market and cool businesses that are hosted there. I recommend doing the trolley tours so you could take many stops along the way in comfort.
Aweson place to spend a day of relaxation
This place should be a must in your list. Its very nice, so much to see. This place has historical places, restaurants, stores, a small park, restrooms and sometimes live music. We took pretty much the whole day too see almost everything.
Boring, disgusting food options and rude crowds
Old Town should always be preserved.
Located only 30 minutes away from the border of Mexico, Old Town is the perfect place in San Diego, to experience a little taste of Mexico without crossing the border. The Old Town historic park commemorates the early days of the town of San Diego and includes many historic buildings from the period 1820 to 1870.It was established in 1968.One central shopping area of note in Old town is the Bazaar del Mundo, an open-air square with shops on three sides and a fountain.Another popular shopping area is Old Town Market in the Old Town State Historic Park that has about 40 stores filled withMexican ceramics, San Diego souvenirs, colorful art, blown glass and more.Great place to visit!
A fantastic experience. We found ourselves in a very crowded area that i saw in barcelona or istanbul. People drinking eating dancing wining shopping all together.
The icecream and handmade waffle cone is just one of the many reasons to visit Old Town San Diego.
