Really nice park with well manicured gardens, fountains, and art installations. Great place to picnic and bring kids and pets. Although, dogs are not allowed in the fountains. The park is located right next to the San Diego County Administration center, just across the street from San Diego Harbor. So there are plenty of tourist attractions (Star of India, museums) and other activities in the immediate area.

Just pay for parking. Very nice, clean area for kids to play for hours. Right across from the bay with huge ships/boats and the city skyscrapers so it has amazing views 360 and very relaxing. Nice grassy area if you want to picnic. No tables or benches on grass though. Has an awesome playground for all ages. So much cool stuff on the playground area. Dont forget to bring extra clothes for the kids, towel and sunscreen.

Water starts filling up around 10 am but the fountains don’t turn on until 11 am! Super fun spot. Pretty easy to social distance as long as other parents are doing their part. Not a lot of shade but you could bring your own tent or umbrella. Cute little lunch/coffee shop on the south side

It was the perfect day. Sun was shinning the weather was sweet here. We brought our food and beverages there was plenty of other people but everyone was social distancing. The bathrooms were open and super clean. There was security at all times counted about 6 of them. The kids had a blast in the water we had a blast watching them. Definitely something to do more often.

This place is so beautiful, open space for kids to run around and burn that energy out! They can play in the water which is nice, good temperature for the kids to have fun in but not as cold as the ocean. The playground there is closed but it seemed like a very fun place. Bathrooms were surprisingly clean and did not smell. Security guards are present to stop anyone going to the playground, felt safe :)

It was a 44 million dollar project and a number of people were complaining about that. I thought it was wonderful from the start and so great to see all these young kids and families out there enjoying themselves. And they use it for several outdoor venues on top of it. I think the underground parking might have been part of the 44 million dollar bill.

When its open, its a great park. Its closed now due to safety. But when its open, super fun and a nice location. It is next to a busy street though and its not gated where kids couldnt run out. Also all the playing parts are made of metal, so during the summer they get hot to an unbelievable temperature where playing on them is impossible. Just those two cons for me.

Lots to do here. Japanese tea garden, aquarium, planetarium, penguin habitat. There was a small cafe inside to grab a bite. I was very happy to see the healthy offerings, fresh avocados, salads etc.Huge success for a rain-out day that we had planned biking across Waterfront Park. Great rainy-day alternative

The fountain was definitely a ton of fun. Except for the transient life bathing in it. The security guard yelled at my son not to ride his toddler scooter around the area, but didnt stop people from literally washing their clothes and hair in the fountains. The blue stuff they use to make the ground soft on the playground area is ripped up and poorly maintained in many areas. Particularly on the steep climbing hills. Probably not safe. Also ruined my sons pants via staining.Still give 3 stars because my son really enjoyed himself there.

Golden Gate Park has a little bit of everything for everybody. To have such an expensive part in the middle of a big city is a great feather in the cap of San Francisco. From spacious greens, to Fabulous flowers, do historic statues, the soccer fields, two windmills, stretching all the way to the Sea, this park would be welcome in any City. Look at the map see how many things there are and choose what fits your needs. As I stroll through the park early today there are bicyclist riding in groups to the Sea, runners some with shoes some without. That was odd.

Nice park with a nice playground for letting my son burn off some extra energy before we head home after school. The play structures do specify for children between the ages 2-12 years old, but nobody is enforcing that; the security guards are there mostly to keep the homeless and the skaters away. Skateboarding is not a crime!Safety comes first here too. The aforementioned security guards, well lit throughout and soft energy absorbing rubber flooring everywhere.Parking is also plentiful, but not free. Either on the street or in the underground parking lot.

Beautiful open space however parking can be difficult. Privately owned lot nearby could be repurposed on weekends or low traffic times to allow visitors to park and owners to make a little extra $.... Or a tax write off. Or just whatever but it would allow the space to be used for something. It is right downtown and like a mile from the airport. Idk. Seems to make sense to me. Great park though. Love the openness, water fountains and how it blends with the downtown city scape.

I visited the old Voyager ship Star of India in downtown beautiful San Diego harbor. The Star of India is a known major attraction because is a very old ship. Called Star of India because its first voyage was to India. Is full of history and is been said is hunted by the ship Captain that slid his throat and committed suicide on board centuries ago. Also a child called Johnny Campbell that was a Deck hand helping and working on the ship after been discovered hiding on board for a free voyage. Johnny Campbell just to play seek and hide tagging people on their backs with S shape on back. Also hunts the Star of India. Ghost adventures did a locked down paranormal investigation of the ship and found it to be hunted by the ghost of former ship Captain and visitors reported to feel a child Johnny Campbell tagging them with an S on their backs believe to be playing tag. From this park you can take a ferry to Coronado Island and back. The USS Nimitz museum is also anchored on this harbor park for your visiting and enjoyment is a Battle ship aircraft carrier. Highly recommend this site full of history. Hope this helps. Tracy lp
