If you are looking for a tropical resort in San Diego? This is such a beautiful place. Rooms are ok needs extra attention to deeper cleaning in the rooms especially now. Better quality on-site food choices & time limits on the fire pits so more than one family can use them. You are in walking distance to restaurants and some delicious Thai food and Pizza in the area. Bring walking shoes and enjoy the area. Freeway is also close. This is a great choice if they clean rooms better.

I am giving this place 5 stars simply because of the guy at the front desk I believe his name was James! He was awesome, we got in from out of town a couple hours earlier than check in and James accommodated us immediately. Upon arriving to our room we realized we really did not like the location. We talked to James and he spent quality time helping us find a room that we would love no questions asked. He was so helpful and kind. The room was clean the property is very nice and kept up. It’s within walking distance to so many fun little places to eat. We love it.

Staff here are so friendly and the landscaping at this hotel is absolutely gorgeous! It gives such a lovely tropical vibe to it. Making all of the outdoor hangout areas ideal. Specifically at night over at their Firepit lounges.Though during our stay they did have a water pipe burst and leak into our room, I still wouldnt deduct a star from this place. As there is no one to blame for this. Unfortunately, these things happen. & Management did what they could to accommodate. Thank you for that.I still would recommend this place to anyone who wants to have a nice family get away.

I wanted to thank you for all the care we’ve received. The stay was 98% perfect. (No hot tub and morning lounge food order taker) . We received the birthday card and would like to use the free bottle as a credit towards our next stay (coffee and soda drinkers). We knew within the first hour that this was going to be OUR place. We setup the Relax and enjoy account. I look forward to our next trip (most likely our wedding anniversary) . Would of been a five star stay, except of a few small minor details. First, the staff and grounds were great! Michelle at the front desk was awesome, so was Mario from the cafe.The room had the issues. The coffee maker area had two coffees, both decaf.Two shampoos, no conditioner. And lastly, the alarm went off at 5:30 am! I didnt set it. I think housekeeping forgot to reset it.The hotel had strict covid policies that we appreciated.

This place was the best place we had stayed at in San Diego. The garden view area and the balcony was definitely a plus. The pool area was clean and beautifully decorated. The little fire area was nice this is definitely a good place for someone or a family who wants something affordable with quality. I was a bit worried about an inn at 1st but hands down this place was worth the risk. The room was a little tight for a family of 4 but definitely worth the money. We will be coming back to this place again.

Wanted a quick Staycation and found the perfect place. The staff were excellent, the grounds were just about perfect and the drinks were strong. Perfect.

Great location and this was likely once a good hotel, but maintenance is poor. We called the front desk and housekeeping to address some of the issues but they never answered the phone even after repeated attempts. Also, our entrance door is partially blocked by another door that is kept propped open which is a serious safety issue. Several light not working. Bathroom tissue holder pulled from wall, toilet loose. Perhaps Keith Moon stayed here.

Great location, friendly staff and comfortable rooms. Was a bit disappointed that the restaurant was closed and use of facilities were limited due to COVID, but overall I would stay there again if the opportunity arises.

Was our first stay in a hotel since the pandemic situation. I stayed w my husband and our 3YO.It was Nice and clean! We loved the social distancing rules. They also avoid the daily cleaning of the rooms to avoid the virus spreading, the swimming pool was open and quiet. The music station was closed but we loved the cafe`s service and environment.

So nice. So well located. Never been to San Diego before but we loved it. Will come back again and bring our family.

Place apparently has a termite infestation, which we should have read from the last review. Took one look at our little room & quickly left, the bed was dirty & covered in little bugs we were later told were termites. The staff was very apologetic & gave us a full refund, but we had to change our plans & were really put off. Also for a tropical suite the room looked and felt like a standard cramped hotel room... guess the tropical meant bugs.

Fun, relaxing, and beautiful spot! The staff is friendly and helpful. Rooms are comfy and well apportioned. Anti-covid measures by the hotel are on point, but many guests are ignoring them.

This place is a gem. The lush green jungle like landscaping is just vibes on vibes. The evening lighting is amazing all over the property and the rooms are designed like an island condo getaway. Love this hotel!

The pool and the fire pits were nice. Close walk to Ketch Grill & Taps and Coffee & Gelato. Unfortunately, our room was not very clean and we had little bugs crawling all over the kitchen area and the bathroom. I called the front desk and they sent someone who came with a termite killer spray (I guess they have a termite issue as well). I showed him the bugs and they werent termites so he went back to get the bug killer spray. He proceeded to liberally spray the kitchen area where I had all our snacks and baby bottles, etc. I asked him to stop while I removed our belongings and he apologized but I dont see why he thought it was okay to spray bug killer spray over all our stuff. Aside from that, the sink had scuffed rusted parts, the refrigerator had rust marks all on the outside, the freezer had melted food stains, the carpet had dirty spots, spiders webs on the sliding doors, very uncomfortable bed and pillows.....I could keep going on how bad the room was. Needless to say, the room gets 0 stars. It felt like a cheap dated motel. I was surprised because it has 4.5 stars from all other reviews. Also, both times I went to the little cafe they have next to the stage I waited a while for someone to assist me. There was no one in line but me, so maybe they are short handed. I wouldnt stay here again. I dont recommend it either. I looked at pictures of the rooms before staying here and our room didnt look like the pictures. Maybe they have some updated, remodeled rooms but I didnt get one of those. Make sure you ask for an updated room.

Beautiful tropical paradise on the Shelter Island islet in San Diego, Ca. Comfortable casual rooms with a Polynesian theme. Nice amenities. Concert venue adjacent with top names in music performing. Also features an adjacent bar and restaurant with live music. Close and easy access to all SD attractions and events.

Humphrey’s was just AMAZING! I was celebrating my birthday in San Diego and the front desk staff is warm and funny. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. Eli, the pool bartender was just impeccable in his service. I would have loved to stay for additional days. Truly recommend this hotel. We will be coming back and booking here again next year!

Beautiful patio with fire pits to enjoy the cool evenings. Large rooms and comfy beds. We needed to change our room and the front desk was very accommodating.

Super nice property, loved the pool/hot tub and the fire pits. Very pretty. Staff was great. Only downside was that the pool bar was closed for the season, even though it was high 70s outside, and we had to walk really far to get a drink from the bar. I feel that if people are using the pool often (and tons were), the bar should be open. With that aside, we would definitely recommend this place.

Love this hotel.Restaurant on site, amazing view of the bay across the street, Marina view balcony suites, pool and garden view rooms, friendly staff, beautiful landscape on site for viewing and photos. Fees for parking, taxes, and some other hotel fee? The fees is what adds the bill up to higher nightly rate.

What an excellent place to sneak away from the world and escape reality. The staff was very friendly, the rooms were spacious and very clean, and the view is second to none. Thanks for the hospitality Humphreys Half Moon Inn, this is one trip we will never forget.

Stayed at this hotel this past weekend and it was really lovely. The pool area and the fire pits are nice. The rooms were ok. We had a few bugs in our room but they changed us to a different room immediately. We had a good time! The kids enjoyed watching the fish, ducks and parrots.

The check in process was quick and easy. The reception guy was very nice and well-dressed, his name was Richard I believe. The lobby was nice with fresh bouquets.

Right next to the water and only about 15 minutes away from the city. This tiki style hotel is a great place to spend your nights and eat a nice breakfast or dinner. The bar and restaurant sell food on the little pricey side, about 30 bucks per person, but I think you get what you pay for, it was pretty good. Traffic is medium to light, no major streets to annoy you at night. Lastly, the AC works like a champ!

Beautiful hotel right on the water. We had the garden suite. A few minor issues with the room but the staff was very kind about taking care of it. Can’t wait to stay here again.

Few things to know about this place, nice location, nice pool, nice seating areas, great view, but here are a few things that we didnt like. Room was not very clean, bethroom was not very clean, mattress was very old and uncomfortable, the AC vent was blowing directly to our face while tried sleeping ( got a bit of a cold from it, covered the vent with the towel) another thing, if you have a car and you will park it while staying, they will charge you $18 per night, also, additional $18 a night for all kinds of fees. When booking online, they will not tell you this. NOT A HUGE PROBLEM, but could have been disclosed. Otherwise a good place to stay.

We got married here 9 years ago and the experience is just amazing. Great customer service and everyone is very friendly.

Such a disappointment. The room was fine, but if you’re coming here... call ahead to make sure you get what you reserved. My husband and I got married at Bali Hai a year ago and stayed here for the rehearsal and our wedding night. Because of covid we thought it would be nice to do a little staycation, splurge on a suit and get the marina view like last year. We walked in and the sliding door was facing the concert arena where people can just look straight in. I called the front desk and asked about my reservation, she checked and read back that it was a Marina View and I let her know that was not what we had. She didn’t have any other rooms available (hard to believe bc of covid), and wasn’t very apologetic. The room is fine, and they credited $40 - but for our 1 year anniversary (which I noted in the reservation) I’m pretty bummed.

The room was well appointed and very clean. The area is planted beautifully and creates a serene atmosphere. Pool and hot tub were sparkling clean. The lounge and restaurant were nicely decorated and had great service and food.A word about the setting and architecture; a beautiful place! Water all around, fountain, and within easy walking distance to the bay. A short drive to the USS Midway Museum.I would stay at Humphreys Half Moon again, hands down, when coming to San Diego.

We stayed for 10 nights in late February 2020, in a Marina View Suite (1 bedroom with 2 queen sized beds, full kitchen, balcony overlooking the marina). It was fabulous. We had not been to San Diego before, and we looked at several different hotels, but we are very glad we chose Humphreys, and will return on our next visit. The front desk staff and the cleaning and maintenance staff are all very friendly and helpful. All of the grounds, the pool, the tropical gardens and the room were very clean and well-kept. The view of the marina from the room was serene, and the area around Humphreys is very close to most attractions, but nicely tucked away from some of the hustle and bustle of other areas of the city. Theres a great boardwalk for walks or runs, several great restaurants within walking distance, and a great restaurant on-site at Humphreys (the Sunday Brunch is worth it!!). The room was very quiet and well-equipped, including a fully-stocked kitchen. The beds were comfortable, and there was a nice big balcony to take in the gentle breezes. The pool is big, the hot-tub is warm, and the pool area is surrounded by swaying palm trees and tropical gardens...even a couple of colourful parrots. They have tiki torches and chairs around several fire tables at night, chill music playing, and activities outside including ping pong by the pool, and a giant Connect Four game. If you want to party and be in the throngs of tourists around Mission Beach, this is not the place for you, but if you want a fun, relaxing and tropical getaway, whether it be as a family, as a couple, or with friends, youll feel at home at Humphreys!

Cute hotel by the marina. I enjoyed my stay for the most part. They do charge $18 a night for parking. Not sure why. I also notice they dont have a way to contact guest services in the room. There are no phones. Main office is a walks away they are not close to walking distance if you stay in building A. They also dont provide complementary bottled water for the room. They do have tea and coffee you can make. Room was very clean and comfortable. I would definitely try and stay here again in the future.

We love the spacious rooms, especially the suites with marina views. The rooms are clean, and the pool is huge and actually heated!

They had some hiccups with reopening but the people working are super friendly and accommodating. Very pretty place and within walking distance of a little beach with fire pits.

Very comfortable and roomy, the only complaint I have is the parking area has a serious ant problem, the problem is so bad that I found ants in my car. I was shocked but then I realized I had the same problem at Humphreys two years ago! My in laws said its a known thing! Do not park near the shrubs and it will help.

Very great location and environment. Only knock is the musty room smell that comes from the use of wood in the buildings rather than any uncleanliness. Definitely would recommend starting here.

This place did not disappoint! The pool area was beautiful. Room was as pictured, live music, parrots and an outstanding view of the city. We will be back to Humphreys next year!

Payed a bit more (not cheap) and Stayed in an ocean view room suite (block a - nearest block to the restaurant bar next door) Room was clean and spacious - if a little dark. Balcony was nice with some greenery covering it (even ground floor suites have a balcony). Gets VERY crickety at night so if your wife is scared of them (like mine is) beware. Staff were good and helpful, Pool area is nice but gets busy. Pool bar has a good general choice. As you would expect though, not cheap. Now, if you didnt know already this hotel hosts regular open-air concerts (in-between the pool and block a) parking on these night is nightmarish - do not check-in late on a concert day, you will not get a space. Secondly if you are in block A and its a particularly large group playing your view will be obstructed (as per picture) if on the ground floor. This should be stated really as although it is ignorable (annoying if you paid for a view you dont have) the driver keeps his AC on which means every 5 minutes or so it sounds like a turbine and not relaxing if you want to chill on the balcony. Overall pretty nice, get there early to avoid disappointment and try to get a top floor for best views.

Humphreys is one of my favorite places to stay in San Diego. Its the best! Very nice to just sit and look out over the boats at the marina in the morning with a cup of coffee. Peaceful.

Family always has a blast here. This time we were fortunate to meet Mickey (pool side bartender). Very smart of Humphreys for having an efficient, very friendly, genuinely caring, and locally grown bartender by the name of Mickey. She single handedly made sure that my whole family was having a blast by not only taking care of us pool side but by offering her expertise as a local and suggesting some great spots for the family to enjoy and that we did. Thank you Mickey! And thank you Humphreys half moon inn for a great stay at class San Diego! ️️

This place was our little get away after our wedding. While staff was a slow to provide great service, they came through in the end and made everything exceptional. Great shopping all around, nice beach front for lovely walks.

We had a fabulous time at Humphreys Half Moon Bay. The suite was very spacious and nicely appointed, with a beautiful patio overlooking many sailboats anchored there. The staff was extremely gracious and accommodating, from the reception staff to the courtesy shuttle driver. We also enjoyed terrific live music at their on-site live music bar, along with tasty cocktails and a variety of food items enjoy.

This place is gorgeous. Rooms are very clean. Pool and garden area to die for.I didnt give it 5 stars because of hidden charges. We booked on hotels.com. When we checked out, had an additional $60 in Resort Passport fees... for services we didnt even use... Very frustrating. They need to be up front with all these fees. Probably wont return because of that fact, sadly.

Great place to stay! Beautiful grounds. Room wasnt big but it was great for what we needed. Resort has Tropical feel. Had our own patio to sit outside and enjoy the peace. The lounge had great entertainment and no cover charge. Free bike rentals to explore shelter island. Just miles from downtown. Would definitely stay there again!

Rooms clean and well appointed. Staff exceptionally friendly and fast to respond. Pool area very nice. Hotel restaurant excellent. Be aware you are close to military bases. You may hear helicopters and/or jets. Several good restaurants within walking distance.

Positive: The location was amazing!! Negative: The gas was off and so there was no hot water. We were offered a discount, but for having no hot water it was not enough. Also the toilet constantly ran, which was noisy. When we let the front desk know there was a problem, they said they would get it fix

If you’re looking for a retro yet updated getaway place Humphreys is a great choice. The outdoor space and pool is fabulous. We had a junior suite facing the city skyline. The room was nice but the sliding window door had some water damage that obscured the view which was a bit annoying for a “view” room. If you are picky and wanting modern and new then this is not for you. If you’re open to a updated retro and a tropical oasis feel then this is a good choice for location and price. We could walk to the harbor and restaurants. As there are many choices of rooms available I suggest the marina view or the harbor view.

Nice sized and clean rooms. Great outdoor space, even through Covid-19. Jacuzzi closed fyi, heated pool is great but chairs fill up quickly. Fire pits are a nice touch as well. Oh, and kids burger is exactly the same as adult for double the $$, just add lettuce, tomato and pickles Lol.

Had a great conference here! Was nervous because it was off the beaten path so to speak. Being a first time visitor to San Diego, I wasn’t exactly sure where the Uber driver was taking me. It ended up being the perfect location. We were able to walk to restaurants and the view of the marina was really nice.Breakfast in the restaurant was delicious. I ordered the steak and eggs...delicious. Coffee was great too!The drinks at the bar were really great and we enjoyed the music by the dj.I would definitely go back!

Humphreys is awesome! Kinda polynesian themed. Feels like being in Hawaii without the long flight. Clean, quiet, polite staff, great pool. Kids love the parrots they put out every morning by the koi pond. Beach park across the street. Room service food is excellent. Grand Marina Suite has a real kitchen, a bedroom with 2 queen beds, and two pull out hide-a-beds in the living room. We will never stay anywhere else when in San Diego.

We had an amazing time at Humphreys. We booked a suite which was beautiful and affordable. We swam in the heated pool and jacuzzi, danced the night away in the little night club and just has a great time! Clean and great customer service. We are going back this weekend to celebrate my husbands birthday....

Great Hotel and Restaurant. Breakfast was amazing everyday, the night entertainment was great after a day of work, I definitely recommend this hotel if you’re restricted by per diem and need a nice place during a business trip.

Electricity went out to nights in a world otherwise would be an awesome place for a non covid19 weekend

The check in process felt rushed and unnecessarily complicated. The first room I was given didnt work out because as soon as I walked in I could hear the occupants of the room above me stomping around and shouting. I gave them the benefit of the doubt for about 5 more minutes and decided that either the floors were very thin or the folks upstairs were a herd of elephants. Either way, I wasnt going to be able to live with the noise level. The front desk assigned me another room which overlooked the pool. Because it was located on the top floor I didnt have to deal with noise from above, just the folks visiting the pool. I really feel as though the location (right on the marina water) is what makes this hotel desirable, but beyond that the hotel itself is not very impressive. Its a 3 star hotel. Its not great and its not terrible, its just in a super, location with fantastic views and is a stones throw from the airport, although theres no airport shuttle.

This was the best choice; to have a vacation that wasnt a crazy, all day running around type of trip. We spent most of our days and nights poolside, or hot tub, walking the docks, SD Bay, etc. With in-room full kitchens available, it made it all the more affordable with the lack of big restaurant bills. Admittedly, part of our vacation plan was to enjoy some cooking time without the rush of trying to cook on a work night. Dont rush around, actually stop and enjoy a vacation in peace. Well be going back I assure you.

Nice spot convenient to everything, beautiful views and a great pool. Its perfect for the shows there since you can just walk back to the rooms. Bonus was the ducks knocking on the windows in the morning.

Great intimate venue....this is the view from our friends boat. We can see a little but can hear it all Weve been to the venue itself and loved the atmosphere. Drinks were good and close to stage so you dont miss any of it!!!!

There is a hidden $15 per night fee that upon arrival your told is mandatory.Edit after staying the night:The room is large and the variable lighting is nice. Beautiful pool and jacuzzi.Drawbacks were: the beds suuuuck. Im up at 6:30am because I couldnt bear pretending to sleep anymore.Theres some sort of coast guard installment nearby and several fighter jets taking off at night was quite the noise explosion. Its deafening outside and still piercing inside.The Inns response to my complaint about the fee is appreciated, but hidden fees are hidden fees. Its more than the $15; its how a guest feels when they arrive. I expect to feel welcomed and feel a sense of hospitality, but a hidden fee destroys the trust that underpins hospitality.Basic hotel amenities such as an exercise room that few people care to use anyway should not cost extra. Build the fee into your daily rates.

I like staying here its a beautiful quite place. Great views of the bay. I enjoy my morning coffee watching the boats entering and leaving the harbor. The rooms are well kept and large. The staff have consistently been excellent.

Great concert venue! Small and quaint, so I think any seat will be good. I saw Aussie Floyd here and it was incredible I loved it. It is outdoors and may get chilly so be prepared and bring a sweater.

All I’m saying is that I had really bad customer service, I guess when you’re well established hotel you don’t need customer service anymore, everything else was great.The man and woman that worked the bar by the pool Friday 8/21/20 and the front desk person James or something, Cheer up little bit!

Awesome place, rooms are unique, well maintained and updated. Pool area is awesome with a great spa and palm trees everywhere making the atmosphere feel just right. If you book here you wont be let down!

Highly, highly recommend! I havent personally stayed here but have been to concerts at their venue. The venue is beautiful, small, right on the water. Every seat was a great seat. Drinks were super costly but thats honestly to be expected. The Inn seems really nice and well kept.

Marina manager is the most knowledgeable of any Ive met in San Diego on top of being a super nice guy. Marina is clean, I mean really really clean. Bathrooms are beautiful! Love this place.

Beautiful resort, that has multiple live concert venues on premises. Gorgeous pool / jacuzzi area. Very comfortable king sized beds w/ additional sheet and thin comforter instead of blanket and 6 pillows 2ea of 3 different sizes and densities to match everyones needs.Resort is located on Shelter Island, a large man-made peninsula, isolated from the busy city. But still only 5.5 miles from the convention center and gas lamp district

Great location on Shelter Island. Avoid the expense of the downtown hotels. Still close to everything. Great pool area (including bar). Be sure to catch a summer concert at their own outdoor amphitheater.
