Weve been going to this place for years with the kids, and it really just ticks so many boxes that make it a great family vacation spot. Its right on the beach. Like, just right there. The first time we booked we got a suite with a separate room for the kids, which was good when they were tiny, but their suites are not ocean view. Since then weve just booked an ocean view room every time which features a fold-out sofa that is perfect for a couple small kids, and a balcony with a great view. Sunsets over the ocean! Theres a supermarket right there, and several really nice restaurants and take-away options for eating at the beach. The hotel has a nice pool and jacuzzi, as well as laundry facilities and parking. Breakfast buffet with a waffle machine. And of course the staff is great. This place gets 100% in my book for a family beach vacation. Cant wait to go back.

Very nice hotel with just a walk across the boardwalk to the ocean. Pier 2 blocks away. Nice view of ocean even from partial view room.Nice soft bed with comfortable thin white comforter. Pillows so so. Nice couch and portable tables to eat on. Bathroom has nice tall shower heads (for those 63) spacious shower with shelf and counter top is spacious. Beach towels provided and nice hooks. No microwave but mini fridge in closet.Nice pool and hot tub, so happy it was open during civil. Parking $20 a night. Not sure how breakfast is as during coivid we had a bag of food, pastry, muffin, orange, apple and water. Muds coffee in room was good. No creamer or stir though.

Staff is always very attentive... nearly every room has a good view of the boardwalk & beach.Felt very “safe” with protocols implemented due to COVID going around. Guests, for the most part respected mask guidelines.Rooms seemed thoroughly sanitized & are spacious. Beds very comfy... parking can be a bit cramped but, I usually park and just walk everywhere.Grocery store is a 2 min walk, bars seconds away... great location.

Nice hotel right on the boardwalk off Pacific Beach. You cant get any closer to the beach scene than this. Comfortable beds and down pillows provide great sleep after a long day. The Continental breakfast is a welcome addition that gives additional value. One of the only places right on the beach where you can go from the ocean, to the pool, to a hot tub. Not the most inexpensive place youll stay, but for this location and proximity to the surrounding area it is great. The staff has been awesome. Only knock is the room furnishings could use a refresh. Overall, Id definitely recommend.

This a very nice hotel, excellent location to the beach and restaurant, at a very good price. The only reason its a 3-Star to me, its the actual view you get. I paid extra to get a relaxing view of the ocean front but all me and my family got to see/hear was loud music, cops and a lot of homeless people. I only recommend this hotel if you are on a budget. I personally will stay else where next time.

An amazing San Diego getaway spot in the heart of the Pacific Beach area! I felt lucky to have found this place! On the beach, had a room on 3rd floor with “partial” ocean view, but it was a great view of the pool and ocean! Highly recommended.Located right on the beach next to the pier, close to tons of shops, restaurants, and clubs. And it’s right on the boardwalk. The sunset is something to behold from this location!Parking underground is secure, very convenient and very affordable, considering the location. There is an awesome pool and hot tub.Staff was very courteous and helpful, including with recommendations for places to eat etc. Security staff was very kind and helpful also.Overall this was a fantastic experience and I would highly recommend staying at the Ocean Park Inn if you’re visiting San Diego!

This place is a solid four stars. The staff is very friendly. The rooms are comfortable and clean and the location is awesome if you want to be right in the thick of it in Pacific Beach. Parking garage is a plus and the pool and hot tub are nice. Loses a star for only a couple minor items. Some minor maintenance is needed around the facility. There is also a nightclub right next door which can be a bit of a nuisance. With the AC cranked up you couldnt really hear it much but if youre sensitive it could be a bother if youre on that side of the hotel. Breakfast was like any standard holiday inn type breakfast which was nice. Overall, a good experience and we would definitely stay there again.

Positive: Remodel was fantastic! Addition of electrical/ usb outlets were such a convenience. Free parking is ALWAYS appreciated.

This place is in a perfect location. I got a beach front room for reasonable price and woke up every day to magnificent views. The hotel itself is pretty dated and needs some love but the staff are very helpful. The breakfast is laughable. Overall considering the price and location I would stay here again

We paid extra for an ocean front ground floor room which was not only not accessible to the beach unless you want to leave your hotel room door unlocked but could not see the ocean, only the boardwalk. Be sure to get an upper level room if you want the view

I really dont write reviews but I felt like I needed to. This place was AWESOME! Clean and tidy. Comfy beds and pillows. Big TV. The front end people were great. Checked in with ease and gave my son the WiFi password so he didnt burn through our data. The lobby was getting renovated but didnt really bother me because I was sleeping in the room. We stayed in room 219 with a decent view. I would take the stairs to the ground floor and head right out the gate to the beach. Thats all I could ask for. 20 dollars a night for parking but it is worth it. Its in a garage so my car was safe and locked inside the gate the whole time. PB is a great area and beach. I never had any problems with anything or anybody. Lots of restaurants and bars. Ice cream places for the kids and family. I eat at Taco Surf every chance I get and get coffee from Konos every morning. With the whole Covid thing it was nice to be at the beach and have fun. Everyone keep their distance and was fine. I always felt safe and not at risk at all. You have to wear a mask in the hotel to your room and in all the littles shops on the boardwalk but I took mine off as soon as I was on the beach and outside. Go and have fun and stay at this hotel. Your family will be happy you did.

Stayed here 8 nights, had a 2 queen ocean front view room. We spent a lot of time on our balcony enjoying the beautiful views. All the staff was very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. The breakfast was really nice, lots to pick from. We cant wait to go back. Highly recommend!

After staying in a few dives along the beach front, some of which with some reputable name power behind them, my wife discovered Ocean Park Inn.Let’s start with the staff. We showed up at about 1am from our flight and the front desk attendant was incredibly helpful and very friendly.The rooms were standard for the most part, nothing to write home about but the amenities were great. Beautiful view of the beach, even from the side of the building. Spacious fridge that worked great. Good TV channel selection, amazing number of outlets near the bed for both usb and regular plugs. Now the bathroom is where this place shines - awesome standing shower with enough room for those with a little extra height (I am 6’9” and didn’t have to duck to shower). Oh and let’s not forget the abundance of towels - we had beach towels and enough bath towels to last us an extra three days without any room service.They have great access to the ocean - you walk right out onto the boardwalk and down to the beach. Nice pool area with hot tub and 4’ deep pool.I highly recommend staying here and in Spring 2019 the rooms are getting fully updated so even more reason for my wife and I to come back.

This place is a disaster. Barely any parking, hard to get in and out of the parking garage, pool not open when we called and asked and they said yes and turns out its not. On the beach but it is not as easy access as it says. Rooms are nice but no fridge, no microwave, horrible smell outside balcony. Wont stay here again. Not worth the 400$ I spent for one night.

Absolutely LOVE this place! Right on Pacific Beach next to dozens of yummy restaurants and shops. You can step right from the pool, to the boardwalk, to the ocean. Facility and rooms were very clean! The continental breakfast was even on point. I will definitely stay here again!

Depending on when you are reading this, the hotel is under construction. Although there was no noise or disruptions during my stay. The newly renovated rooms are gorgeous. It’s a great location, close to the pier, beach and other restaurants. Parking is available underneath. Looking forward to my next stay and taking advantage of the pool.

Every year we vacation in San Diego for a week and this is our place to stay. It’s not luxury nor cheap however it’s very comfortable and very very convenient especially with kids. It’s right by the fire station and the life guard building between tower 24 and 25 it’s has the best access to the beach via the ramp by the lifeguard building. The staff is always welcoming and super nice. We usually stay in rooms 301 or 302 as The have the best sunset views. Breakfast is typical American and it’s really good. I highly recommend it. I do hope they upgrade their rooms in the future keeping the same prices.

The only reason it is 4 instead of 5 is that it was a little pricey for the age. Otherwise what a beautiful location. Pretty much in the middle of everything Pacific beach. Newly renovated rooms were beautiful. However, the Continental Breakfast was a bit of a let down. Skipped it all together. The pool and hot tub were dirty. Need a bit of attention then it would be right up there!

We were lucky to be there when the whole country were under the polar vortex. The hotel is quiet even with a loud bar right in front. Also, a fire fight department is close by. I did not hear any sound besides the waves crashing and the birds. It is close to the pier so a lot of passing by people. I only hear the skate boarders.The hotel also offer beach towels in the room and have a door behind the building guiding direct to the beach or from the beach direct to the pool.In the lobby has coupons for everything in San Diego. From buy one museum entrance get one free to discount in Sea World. Breakfast ends early and no scramble eggs only boiled but if will be in a party and wake up late across street, up the souvenir store, has breakfast, lunch and dinner who I personally think should charge more only for the view. If you need ideas ask the reception. They are super friendly and knowledgeable.My days there were foggy days but still beautiful. In the picture the orange building is the hotel. The gray is the fog over the sea. I cant wait to come back

Very great location right on the beach and if you can the room in the front, you will be waking up with sea view every day. We got the room in the first floor at the back which is ok. When you open the patio door, you can still here the ocean waves sound. The continental breakfast is not bad, make your own waffle, Nestle coffee and juice machine and different pastries, cereal etc. Its enough to start the day. There is a club next to the hotel which is pretty loud at night but luckily the sound proof for the hotel is good that once we get inside the hotel and our room, we did not hear anything. The hotel is undergoing some renovation and looks bright and modern afterwards. Definitely a good hotel to stay if you want Beach front access. Its also located at Grand avenue where a lot of restaurants are located. You can walk couple blocks to check our different restaurant and shops and its a block away from the pier. Will definitely come back after the renovation

Great clean on the beach location that is reasonably priced and close to everything! They just started a remodel and the newer rooms look like they will be brighter & modern. Cant wait to come back after theyre done!

Loved staying here for our mini family getaway. Friendly front desk, fast check in, clean rooms and we slept very comfortably. They did offer fancy looking bath robes to use or buy but we didnt get a chance to use them. Right on the beach, very relaxing and my son loved it. They offered a continental breakfast, traditional items. We will for sure stay here again, it is well worth it.

This hotel is conveniently located, the staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Rooms are comfortable and have private balcony’s. The only issue was that Friday and Saturday nights people from the bar next door was blocking the parking garage.

Worst hotel ever. I paid $370 for one night on a weekday. They charged me $700 and charged me $784 Two days later again and said someone was smoking. Scammers. Currently disputing this with my bank.

Weekend get away and this hotel was fabulous. Would highly recommend this if you are wanting to say right on the beach. Prices are reasonable and will be staying here from now on. Thank you for a great weekend.

We enjoyed sleeping with the sliding door open to hear the ocean waves all night. Hot tub and pool seemed well maintained. Everything was clean. Definitely would return. Thanks!

This was 3rd time we stayed. Above everything else, location is perfect Quiet, great staff. Pat let us check in early and upgraded our rooms and was very friendly and helpful. Rooms and shower very spacious, beds a little uncomfortable. fridges in room. Adequate breakfast, grocery store and CVS right across the street. numerous restaurants and bars within walking distance. Underground, secure parking $15 a night. Hot tub jets very strong, nice pool. I dont think you would have any regrets staying here

Overall: a great place to stay for a San Diego trip filled with beach and boardwalk! The location was ideal for visiting the beach and getting some sun time but also a somewhat central location from La Jolla and downtown (10-20 minutes by car). Within 1-2 blocks from the hotel you have good coffee (Better Buzz), breakfast (Better Buzz or Breakfast Republic), partying (Firehouse), and a place to get a 32oz margarita on the boardwalk (Baja Beach Cafe). We arrived at the hotel before our check-in time and the staff was able to hold our bags and provide us beach towels so we could enjoy the beach before we checked in. The free breakfast was much like other continental hotel breakfasts and the room was pretty standard. This is all before their remodel (FYI).

We stayed one week at Ocean Park Inn.The staff were very friendly and helpful.The rooms clean, and maid service on hand daily.Plus, free continental breakfast until 10 am.They have an outdoor pool, and a quaint hot tub for guests.We had a small room with balcony that overlooked the ocean and we were extremely happy with the spectacular view, however this is an older hotel and the rooms were not as updated as I would have liked.Yes, it did have a nice flatscreen tv with wifi and a mini fridge, but the rooms were very small, and it felt more like staying in a roadside motel than the luxurious experience I was expecting after paying what we did for the week.But, I guess we were actually paying for that view, which was quite breathtaking!So, overall I give it 3 stars!

Front desk and housekeeping were great. We will definitely go for the full beach view next time. Our view was partial on the Grand Ave. side of the hotel but still amazing. The suite was very clean. It is Pacific Beach so the crowd noise lasts until after midnight. The only issue was the mattress was a bit worn and should be replaced. Other then that, another awsome stay at the Ocean Park Inn!

My stay at OPI was pretty good. However, I didnt expect how much of a party area it was in. I had heard that the area had this reputation. But what I hadnt anticipated was that the restaurants all around the hotel turn into raging nightclubs at night. This wouldnt be a huge problem except that the constant stream of EXTREMELY loud college kids on the boardwalk outside our window required us to keep the door closed all night. I wanted to stay by the shore to sleep with that cool ocean air coming in the room, and the sound of the waves did NOT get that here. On top of that a group of beach bums seem to have made their home on the boardwalk and were out there from morning until night. Not the best crowd right outside my room all day. On the flipside, that same boardwalk made for great people watching during the day.

The people who run this place are extremely rude. I requested an early check in and was told “they don’t read those requests” but, said for an additional 80$ they’ll clean my room for me...like I had requested. They place is on the beach was is amazing but, there’s just as many old run down hotels on the beach that don’t care about the customers so save yourself some money. The fact that this is the type of hotel that has 4 stars just shows how delusional people in this state really are. Knock it down and put a LaQuinta in its place. Breakfast at that point might not be so disappointing. Which is a choice of a waffle or cereal. Over all...wouldn’t comeback...

We stopped in for a too quick, two night stay. The goal of our stay was to be as close to the beach as possible, the Ocean Park in was a great location for us! We did not know that we were staying at party central, but the wild, youthful element is what keeps us young! Dont stay at the Ocean Park Inn for a Serene, quiet weekend. Stay at the Ocean Park Inn because its awesome. Right by the beach, and full of awesome, helpful, staff!

In general this hotel was great - good location, easy parking underground, room was clean and had a private patio by the pool. Pool and jacuzzi were nice, and breakfast was convenient.

Stayed here for two nights. The rooms and hotel was quite dated but apparently they are having a refurbishment over the next year. The bed was comfy and the room was clean. Hotel was in a great location. I would stay here again especially if the rooms were updated.

All was fine except we had some issues with the TV, at times, it wouldnt power up, had to hit power multiple times - some kind of issue with server (not remote control batteries). We were very surprised by the number of homeless hanging around on beach walk....

Great, fun place to stay. I went there on my honeymoon. Stayed on 2nd level ocean side. Fun to people watch and to listen to the ocean waves crashing on the beach at night. I wish I was there now! Will stay there again. Underground parking available.

This hotel is in the heart of Pacific Beach which is a happening party area for 20 somethings. The hotel was simple and nice. The value was poor. This was definitely not worth what we paid and definitely not a pleasant family beach town.

This hotel is right on the beach, which is awesome. rooms are adequately clean. it does have continental breakfast and its pretty good. rooms/ hotel are a little old. housekeeping didnt come until late afternoon so threw off the day. some staff is nicer than others. overall a pretty good stay. will likely stay again due to location and price.

First I must say that Im a homebody who doesnt like staying in hotels. Therefore it would not be fair to comment on the negatives so I will focus on the positives. The carpet in our room was a very cool pattern; it looked like waves in the ocean! Nice, large shower. Nice, cold mini fridge. Nice little balcony for each room. Nice short walk to the beach. Nice short walking distance to several eateries . Nice, friendly staff. Two beautiful aquariums near the check-in. Nice, comfortable bed. Very cold AC. Okay, one negative that I will mention; a very slow elevator when you want to leave the underground parking going up to the hotel. Oh what the heck, a funny negative; I can laugh because it seems so ridiculous, but if you drink the two bottles of water on the dresser, Voss brand, you will be charged $3 per bottle! I guess its like consuming things from a mini fridge ( which by the way, was empty).For the cost of a room, I seriously think there could have been a lot more amenities.

I liked the location to the beach and shops. It was a lot of fun renting the scooters and riding up and down the boardwalk area.

Top notch hotel! Well appointed rooms and courteous and professional staff. Walk out from the pool to the ocean. Tons of dining and attractions all around, plus private underground parking. Not our first stay, and definitely not our last.

Check in was easy and smooth. Staff very friendly. About 10 steps away from the boardwalk and the beach. Restaurants all around. Rooms very clean. Shower actually high enough for us tall people.

2 adults, 2 young adults, Christmas week. The Ocean Park Inn was a perfect place for us. Incredible sunset view, fishing pier nearby. Shops, stores, restaurants, bars all walking distance. Rooms are large, clean and comfortable. Bathrooms newly updated with good amenities. Comfortable seating on balcony. Good, if simple, breakfast. Nice staff. Neat and clean!! One con: hallways are an icky green hospital color. Should rethink that choice. Very nice vacation for us.

Would definitely recommend staying here. I have seen other reviews saying that it is a noisy place to stay as it is next to incredibly busy bars and nightclubs that blast music into the wee hours in the morning. While I can see where people in the South Tower may have this problem as this is where the clubs are located, we stayed in the North Tower on the ground floor and never heard a thing. The provided breakfast was a nice touch, nothing fancy just the staples of a true continental breakfast with the added bonus of waffles and instant oatmeal. Definitely helped to keep the food budget down. The pool and spa were very nice and clean as was the areas around the pool. We brought our our beach blanket and used the chairs provided free by the hotel. They also had umbrellas and wake boards available to use for free if you get there early enough in the morning. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location cant be beat either. All around great place to stay on Pacific Beach.

Nice, clean hotel in a great area. The only turn off was the numerous homeless folks who set up camp on the front lawn and congregate in the immediate area.

Absolutely wonderful place. Great staff and great views. We spent our honeymoon here and just celebrated our 9 th anniversary here. Cant wait to come back soon.

The hotel seemed to be an older property but had some work done on it. It was clean and nice. Didnt feel like an older hotel. We had an ocean view room. It looked over the pool with the ocean directly behind. Was a very good view. They had a continental breakfast. It was just typical hotel fair. Good location. The parking was easy. I will stay there again.

I paid a premium price for our stay here at this hotel. The ONLY reason I will give 2 stars instead of one is the staff. Everyone was friendly and unassuming. My hotel room stunk soooooo bad! It wreaked of filthy carpet and moisture odor. The carpet made my gray socks dirty on the bottom. The closet door was broken and in need of repair other than the duct tape that was used to make it work. The duct tape looked very old and rolled up on the edges so it must have been in this state of disrepair for a while. Parking will also cost you an additional 15 dollars a day. Parking is very scarce in this area so it is basically a necessity. The garage and staircase are the CLEANEST places at this hotel. Drapes were falling down from the spring rods they used to hold them up. My wife was horrified at the sight of the old stained mattresses when she pulled back the sheets and checked for bugs (which thankfully she did not find), she did NOT want to stay but we had nonrefundable reservations and it was expensive. Dont let the photos fool you about this hotel, it is dated and smells. I booked based upon the photos and and the fact that the hotel has a breakfast, which was hot if you call hot waffles a warm breakfast. I am very disappointed that I brought my wife and children to this hotel as they arent used to the poor quality of the stay we had here.Edit: I look through these reviews and wonder what am i missing? 5 stars? Really? There must be a couple questionable rooms here at this hotel. Of course I got one of them apparently if there ARR in fact rooms that qualify for a 5 star rating. Do yourself a favor and read through the 1 star reviews before booking. These are the most consistent ratings from my experience here at this hotel.

Our experience with ocean park inn was great from the check in with Avi throughout the stay with Barbara. They were very helpful and we had partial oceanview room that you could hear the waves crashing but yet it was quiet on the Balcony. We also did the Baja Border Tour (West Barba) which was great and not affiliated with the hotel but the guide picked us up at the door. Everything with the hotel is good from low end food places to higher end. We would stay here again.
