Brautiful Park. Excellent Poke-hunting grounds. However, at present, there is a growing homeless camp that makes it next to impossible to utilize most of the walking trails and and river access.
Its a great place to go and right on the river too. If you go to go swimming, there are lots if rocks so have water shoes or strong feet. They had bathrooms and some picnic tables. The nearby park was nice, too. A company Woodward surf company had kayaks for rent there, I didnt do them but will next time!
This park has a wide variety of people. Lots of hiking trails, and not dangerous, as some might think. Miles of hiking trails, that I might add, wouldnt be there if it were not for the homeless people laboring through the blackberry bushes, and such. Great place to ride your bike on the trails also. I am glad to be one of tree many who have called this place home, off and on, for the last 7 years. Some folks probably need to clean their home, but many help look after the ones who are mentally or physically not able to do it themselves.
Each time I come close to this place I am saddened by the amount of homeless that is allowed to make permanent residence. The trash spills out of the shelter, into the park finally washed downstream. Clean is not a word you can use to describe the park and its facilities. The grass may be clipped and trimmed but under the trees and in the restrooms are filth and human waste.I loved this park growing up. Sad about it now.
Great softball fields. The staff were very good about cleaning the dugouts before and after each team, I really appreciated that they enforced social distancing inside and outside of the park. I would love to play here again.
Rode our bikes from Minto Brown to this lovely park. Fresh air and away from Covid 19
Great park for a softball tournament. A number of very nice fields. Well maintained with plenty of parking. Looks like there is also a boat ramp on the other end of the park.
Great park but the city of Salem has issued all the homeless to camp out in the trees next to the waterfront, kind of ruins this area and this park.
Its a beautiful place and you and your family can watch the game and have lots of fun on the green grass.
Dont even get me started. But I will say this.. its a real shame how people take for granted the privilege of even having a park by the river . That land was donated, by Mr Wallace himself. And the abuse people have put on this park because theyre selfish, really upsets me. Its deplorable. Salems forgotten, park.
Really nice park if it weren’t for the masses of homeless people in tents. Salem Homeless Central. :(
The best place in Salem. If your homeless can you plan on getting stabbed
Its a very nice softball complex. I didnt really visit on this occasion. I was just running through the park.
Beautiful sports complex with 5 softball diamonds next to the Willamette River.
Wallace park is awesome, you got the boatdocks at the south end, then some big fields with the East/West bridges, and the old boat ramp down to the gravel where everybody swims now
Beautiful park. Heavily saturated with homeless but still pretty nice.
Beautiful park and sports complex along the Willamette River that has been overwhelmed by homeless camps, overflowing dumpster and portable toilets. Makes me wonder why I pay taxes to the City
I like parks, we’ve been coming here for years. I played softball a time or two here and participated in a few fund raising projects also. They serve beer and food on softball league nights. There’s a playground for the kids too. Just watch out for fly balls.
The beach there has great rocks to find
Great park. A little different today with new covid restrictions.
Trash along the shore. Homeless communities. Grass was green.
Great park and softball/ baseball complex. Very clean place!
Its a great park to walk your dogs. They put in new trails and have taken out a lot of blackberry bushes. The ball fields looked the same as always but we didnt really visit them this time.
Park has really gone down hill with the bum camps. Cant even have a peaceful time with family
Nice place but the homeless camp along the river can be an issue...
Beautiful sports complex and park.
It is nice but lot of homless in the woods.
Lots of space. Good park.
The park was nice not too many people weather was sunny n nice to b outside to walk around
Nice park but a lot of bums.
I think that that should be more staff to clean all the lettering garbage
This is one of my favorite places to go take pictures
Beautiful park the homeless didnt bother me or my stuff but I was concerned with leaving my truck there while we floated the river but like I said no one bothered me or my stuff.
Love going out there
I live there so that is why I love it
Too many homeless and drug activity other wise id give 5 stars
I would rate the softball complex five stars. Unfortunately, it is located in Wallace Marine Park which has sketchy areas. At times, theres a sizable collection of homeless people camping there. When I go there with young children I have to watch where they are and who is near them at all times even more closely than usual. So the park itself Id give two stars.
Great river access, good rock hunting. The longer youre there you will notice the shady characters and goings on
I have been going to Wallace for 40+ years & love it!
Always well taken care of
The grounds crew does a really nice job between games in tournament play. The bathroom is clean although the faucets could use some repairs. I wish the snack bar had more selection as far as adding energy bars and something veggie optioned. The umpires are blind but that is not on Wallace Marine...
Nice place to take the family for a picnic.
Good place to watch the stars.
Awesome complex. Consesions are clean and offer a large park menu with fantastic tap list. Fields are well maintained and parking is plentiful.
Tent city in this park with homeless garbage..crime and unsafe waters!
Very nice park with a little bit of everything. I dont recall seeing basketball hoops so it may be missing that, i dont know though. Overall a great park.
Great swimming, walking, and playing to be had here. The river is a river, not super clean, but what do you expect from a river. Trails are well kept considering they typically flood in the winter. There is a public bathroom here, its not disgusting, but still a city park bathroom, so dont get your hopes up. Theres a boat ramp here. Lots of parking.
Such a beautiful park right on the willamette river. Its a great place to take the family and pets!
Used to work here. They have kept up and improved this park. Stopped here for a while. Was on vacation enjoyable a leisurely walk.
Been to several boomerang tournaments at this location. Nice fields! Top notch softball tournaments too.
I really enjoy coming to this park with my family. We often go on runs here. My only issue is with safety... This park is better than Riverfront and Minto Brown, but there seem to be more homeless camps moving in here and nearby lately. Ive been followed a few times by questionable individuals, and Ive heard that crime rates are going up...
A great I city place to chill and relax.PLEASE LEASH YOUR DOG, thanks ;)
Limited bathrooms for such a large park.
Pretty park but harassed by drugged out vegrant after he had a shouting match with his girlfriend.. He decided he liked my dog and wouldnt leave either of us alone. Not the first time I have felt unsafe at this park. Definitely wouldnt go there after dark.
Love there softball fields. Always so clean! And the park is perfect for kids!!!
The softball fields are really nice the entire park is huge and theres a lot of activities you can do there including soccer, swimming, fishing, boating, bike riding and walking
The facility is nice and clean
Park is clean and there is still campers camping out. Very nice people who just needs a break. Overall nice place to visit but not really for small childred
This Park is so beautiful! I love being able to chill near the water....good people too!
Nice trails around to take my dog out .And he loves swimming.
Nice open field park. Has some established trails.
Such a fun place never have a bad time everyone there is nice and you make friends around the whole park
Over all nice, decent park. Fairly clean especially considering all the homeless people in that area.
Great place to eat lunch by the river, or walk the railroad bridge. Lots of games going on in the sports fields. Had fun finding geocaches also.
Wallace Park is a well maintained beautiful park. I love to take my dog there almost daily. Quite a few different trails, summertime duck feed er watch. My only BIG ding is the amount of unleashed dogs, that run the area. My 15 y/I is not dog friendly and we are constantly on the alert. It is a leash park, and people like myself go for this reason. I suppose you just cant stop rude.
The police are keeping a good eye on it and it looks like its gotten cleaned up pretty good.
This is where I like to park during busy events at River Front Park and then walk across the old railroad bridge (now a walking).
The same park I always had fond memories of growing up. Swim area looks different and train bridge is now a pedestrian path (love it) but still a great place.
WOULD HAVE GIVEN THEM AN AWESOME REVIEW EXCEPT THERE TOILET FACILITIES WERE NOT OPEN AND SO HAVING TO DRIVE BACK TO THE SPORTS FIELDS SO MY GRANDCHILD COULD GO POTTY PLUS HAVING TO USE THE BALL FIELDS PORTA POTTY WAS NOT MY IDEA OF WHAT WALLACE MARINE PARK WOULD HAVE EVER RESORTED TO ESPECIALLY AT THIS TIME OF THE YEAR. SORRY TO HAVE TO REVIEW IN A NEGATIVE WAY, HONESTLY I DO LOVE THE PARK...
This park has a lot of great features that make it the best in west salem in my opinion with one major drawback. There are large soccer and playing fields, access to the Willamette for fishing, swimming and a boat launch area, a nice playground, lots of walking paths on and off the sidewalks, and access to the downtown park via the foot bridge. The downside to this park is by far and away the hordes of homeless that live in the park to the north of the softball fields and use the park as a highway from the downtown union gospel mission back into the homeless encampments in the woods and wallace road. I have come across some severely mentally Ill and unstable people here in the past, so I always keep a close eye on my children while here. I have been told by people that used to be homeless that it is dangerous to go into the north woods, and I chose to take heade to those warnings and rarely ever go back there in the north trails.
Great fields. Handicap accessible, with handicap bathroom. Concession stand with variety of food.
Beware of homeless camps near the river
Love to be able to site and watches the water and most parts are clean and quite
La great walking path lots of area for family time. Great sports area for soft ball soccer boat launch area pin
Staff was great, fields were ready.
Its closed.
Lllllllz
Love the agates along the river
Ok to be honest ... our family doesnt play soccer or softball but the field works great for NERF Dart wars!!! Lots of fun!
Sadly a lot of trash on ground in surrounding areas of the park. Will bring trash bag next time.
What a great place to hang out.
Perfect spot for a lunch walk. Also found some petrified wood so, bonus!
My family and their friends went rafting there! We rafted from here to Keizer Rapids Park. So fun!!
Plenty of space, good views, plenty of parking, balk ground facility, boost launch ability etc
Havent been in 30 years but still fun
I dont know much about the marine part of the park the softball park though is really nice good fields during the summer in the rainy months its really bad though. The concessions have a good selection of beer in tap and even Stella cider which is pretty delicious. Good seating at every field and a playground if you have little ones
