Riverfront City Park was wonderful! Beautiful surroundings, perfectly manicured clean yards, plenty of space for social distance-clean restrooms, historic Art on hand craved -painted carousel horses over 300 years old! Its a park that makes you proud to be an Oregonian. The best part- its all free! A wonderful release from todays world pandemic. A place where you can appreciate life.
I have always loved this park. They seem to keep it updated adding new things every few years while still keeping the old things that people love. Some old things I love are the carousel, the ferry ride, and the play structures that have been there since I was a kid. Some new things I have noticed are all the festivals they have done, an ice skating rink in the winter, and the fun water feature. The walking bridges are always fun to go over.
Great play structure. Fun water feature. Lots of trails for walking and biking. Bridges to south and west salem. Good shade for bench sitting. Carousel and Gilbert House. So much fun!
The paved ways make for an interesting ride through the park anytime, the dads at the park have a tendency to put on a show (sometimes dramatic sometimes silly dad antics).Lots of room for field sports, and a bike fixing station! Public restrooms, and the city takes great care of the whole place.
Love going here in the evenings. Definitely a good place to take your dog for a walk!
The Salem Riverfront Park has so much to offer. The space is even large enough to hold public events like the Bite of Salem, World Beat Festival or carnivals. There are many things available like a play equipment, public restrooms, open space, indoor carousel, bike riding paths, fishing down by the water area (bring your fishing pole), feed the ducks, two walking bridges to Minto-Brown Park or Wallace Marine Park, Giant Eco-Earth Globe, AC Gilbert Discovery Village (aka Gilbert House Children’s Museum), summer time splash spray fountains (great for kids), covered pavilion, amphitheater, park benches, a few picnic tables and large parking lot.
Very clean place, the south parking was recently upgraded and looks like they are doing more restrooms and adding more to the park.
Nice park alot of construction going on looks like theyre making some really nice changes. Seems theyve done a good job of keeping the homeless out as walking away from it theyre laying around on the downtown sidewalks
I have spent the last two weeks traveling around Oregon is getting both beachfront and Riverfront parks. This one tops my list! Absolutely beautiful and well-maintained with lots to do. Good for all ages.
Nice large open space park thats Willamette Riverside located downtown Salem,Oregon. Bring your face masks, many people are not wearing face masks! Bring hand sanitizer, people are not being considerate of others. Watch your stepping to avoid animal feces!
Nice park for walks, playground for the kids. The homeless stay out of peoples business. Ill continue to walk the paths
Nice peaceful area by the water and plenty of space to walk around or ride bikes and scooters etc... There are a lot of bums sleeping on the benches bit are plenty of benches only deslike us that there is plenty of space for the bumbs so they should not be sleeping on the benches right next to the kids playground. They dont need to be around that and see that up close and you can feed the ducks by the dock.
I can’t say enough about this park! The best trails to walk on. There are over 15 trails leading to Mentobrown and back. The carousel is so adorable and really in expensive and YES they are OPEN again! Great place to feed the ducks and just hang out with family if you want to get out of the house and still stay safe.
This was my first time at the outside surrounding area of the park. I saw lots of tents and decided to walk over and see what it was. There was one side hosting a giant pride event, and on the other, a dedication to kids and support for families.I loved seeing attendees from both sides crossing over to participate in the other event. Everyone around was happy and having fun. It was a great experiance. For the park itself, lots of room, limited parking. Big playground available. Even went for a walk across the water.
I took a long walk there to clear my head but was consumed with decayed and insidious thoughts. The shrieking groaning of unlubricated playground equipment and ghoulish laughter of children made me start sweating and I nearly had a panic attack. Luckily I found a caterpillar on the side of the pathway silently mourning his partner who was unceremoniously squashed in the middle of the asphalt path. This lifted my spirits and I was able to rally my wits and make it out of that nightmarish hellscape. Safely back to my minivan and breathing heavily into a paper bag I reflected on my experience.... 10/10 would recommend.
Unsure at first, due to recent flooding, but with the foot paths on high ground, it was a very unique and exciting visit. Got to see the powerful force of nature, safely and dry, very beautiful and the park very well maintained. A lot of pride and hard work invested by the parks personal. Peaceful and definitely going back.
Beautiful park at the head of an elegant, paved trail through the adjacent nature reserve. If you live river views; highly recommended!
This was our first time at this park and it was great. Theres many walking trails and beautiful views. Multiple play structures. There are clean, and I mean actually clean public restrooms along the way. Also the riverfront carousel building is near the area we went and it was beautiful to see the indoor carousel. It cost $1.50 for a ride. They also have a gift shop and a shop where you can watch them building or repairing the carousel horses. We will definitely be back.
A great place right outside of city for exercise, running biking etc along the river and through old forestry
I can never say enough positive about this park. Most recently, my family and I enjoyed kicking a soccer ball around on the ginormous field of green grass, my wife and I laying in the grass while our kids played on the playground, my stepson watching with awe the thundering train locomotives chugging down the tracks next to the park, and a peaceful walk along the pier where we dangled our feet in the cool waters of the Willamette river.
Amazing pokemon hunting spot! And a great park none the less. Beautiful views and lots of fun!
Fun park to walk and take your kids to. It also has plenty of Pokémon Go gyms and pokéstops
This is a nice park and is nice and central with easy access to Wallace marine and minto brown. There are lots of accessible trails from this point for a nice long run, walk, bike or just about any other activity. A lot of areas are paved for skating too so thats an extra point.
Wonderful surprise - for being a park in a city with a severe homeless population, this park was clean, spacious and had amenities that were clean too. If you are a walker, runner or ride a bike there are many trails for you in this area. Lots of playground equipment in great shape for the kids and lots of doggie poop bags and waste receptacles around too. There are a few vendors during our midday/midweek visit but they weren’t open. Great place to chill and relax too. Definitely would come back if I was in the area.
Fantastic place with loads of room. Restrooms could use another bldg but other than that its wonderful. Great for the kids!
Love Mcall Waterfront park! AND the Eastbank Esplanade! The waterfront is a great loop for bikers, walkers, and runners. Very scenic most of the year. (Heavy rains arent the most fun to walk in) Love coming down here early on Saturday mornings to watch the dragon boat racers training. Great place to walk with kids and pets
It was okay. Vvi have enjoyed it in the past. Too many homeless and I dont mind homeless these were scary homeless.
Its a small but nice park. I run through it quite often. Usually very clean. Not to many urban campers.
Lovely waterfront park, constantly being upgraded. Great place to go relax . Awesome bridge into minto brown park. Bring bikes and explore. Bridges also connect it to West Salem and Wallace park. Clean up after yourself and be kind! This is a shared space. Also theres a freaking stern wheeler riverboat and an indoor carousel. Magical.
Neat events. Nice park, carousel, playground, & amphitheatre! & gorgeous river views.
Nice playground equipment, well marked sign routage. A lot of well maintained trails. Only call out was the parks attendant practically yelling at me about smoking when there was no signs posted that i saw.
I love walking around this park. Its interesting and you can get a good hours walk through the park, across the bridge to Minto and back. Right in the heart of Salem.
First snow of the year 02/05/2019, at Riverfront Park. Got excused from jury duty today, and walked back to the park where I had parked my van. So beautiful at the park, I had to take some pictures. Just lovely!
Overrun with bad Christian music. Construction a problem for parking. Carousel closed. Not enough play equipment for kids there. Scenic, though.
Is a very clean and well-kept. Parking is a bit of a challenge at the moment due to construction. The carousel is open from when I seen pulling in. All in all Id give this place 10 Stars if I had the option to do so.
Such a great Park. Totally for the whole family to enjoy. Its a long beautiful walk.
I really enjoyed seeing the globe made out of tiles. Its got a bunch of themes and I loved the dinosaur ones especially. A design for everyone I suppose. The bridge is also really impressive and unloved the carousel. A great tourist spot.
Very well maintained and located park and must visit if you are around Salem. Long trails for walk or run. They have Salem summer fare in the last week of June at pretty big scale. Coffee shops are nearby as well.
Absolutely beautiful. But it seems that the homeless can simply sleep on the ground with all their garbage under a pavillion in broad daylight and park rangers do nothing. Shameless and disgusting.
Spectacular as always! And the new improvement plans are phenomenal.
Really nice park space for all ages. Splash pad in the summer, regular park activities and movie nights in the summer. Being connected to Minto-Brown island opens up tons of new day adventures and bike riding opportunities.
One of my favorite parks in Salem, beautiful views, lots of space, easy to walk to from other locations downtown. Theyre also adding another restroom on the side closer to the Gilbert house (by the splash pad). Lots of Poke-stops too
Walked from Minto Brown Park and back with the kids. Kids played on the play equipment before going back. Everyone seemed to be social distancing. Always a fun park. Riverfront Park along with Bush Park are the best parks in Salem.
Nice place to walk. I wouldnt go at night.
Refreshing place to enjoy a little post-quarantine freedom.
Very green, beautiful, not too crowded. This is a very well maintained park.
Beautiful park with a huge playground, excellent foot bridge and excellent views of the conservation area! Also has plenty of toilets, but limited parking.
Beautiful trees in the park, but planted around a splash pad which means after a certain hour you end up with cold kids and little blue lips. Use this to your advantage as a sign of when to head home though! This park is Generally always busy, a great place for people watching but not so great if you Want to avoid crowds. Dogs are allowed off leash at this park, and you get a lot of birds knowing there will be great snacks around. This is actually one of Salems smaller splash pads imo, But it makes a great stop mid day when youre tired of running errands and the kids are getting cranky
Great for running, biking. Even more fun with blackberry picking.
Great place to be, if you havent been, youre missin out
We struggled with the lack of people following social distancing guidelines. We didnt stay too long, but it was fun to stroll a little while & take some photos.
Beautiful place to spend time with family and friends. The playground is huge for kids of all ages! Take your bicycle, scooter or just your feet with that comfy shoes and take a walk/hike the surrounding areas. Oh! By the way... You, can bring your kayaks and take into the flowing stream - just paddle or you can also fish!!!
Quiet peaceful room to sing and dance down the walkway. Good place to walk and talk with your buddy. Miss you Kazak!
Even though we endure covid-19 and many things remain closed or isolated from us, the park remains. Its green, beautiful and a mostly peaceful place to spend time at. The carousel is closed and construction has hampered parking but the park remains.
Always a great way to spend the day.
Its so beautifully here! Its always to just walk around the park and take in the scenery, and the new bridge makes walking all the more fun! I went there for the tree lighting ceremony recently, and it was so pretty.
Love it. While I need some repairs it really is a cross-section of Salem. Dog walkers and hikers, picnics and kids playing. You can even walk across the railroad trestle to Wallace Marine Park and visit the homeless camps the City of Salem just put up. That was said tongue in cheek. If you live inside the Salem City limits, please remember to fire the mayor and city council when you vote.
Wild Ire was really great as well as Elton John -rocket-man performance!! They both did encore songs for fans!! Our family really enjoyed it! We also thought it was a good addition to add free activities as well.
Very popular and beautiful park next to the Willamette...alot of families and people enjoy a wonderful park, nice to see it so alive despite the COVID situation...it almost seem life was back to normal....i highly recommend this place..a jewel in Salem to be proud of
We love coming here and getting a carousel punch card. Lots of fun for the kids and the park is amazing too! Parking can be difficult as the parking lot is small, but we always seem to get lucky.
Has a spot by the river where you can get in and play in the water/paddle board..has a nice long pathway, a cool bridge and a grassy area. Super cool!
Nice little park. Smooth paths. A little flooded today but the grass is freshly cut.
Went looking for my infinity but i ended up finding myself!! So today i married my life path!! Pure hearts healing
We love that they have yoga in the summer months, as well an open-to-the-public Tai chi class. The playground is nice, and really just needs a few extra shaded spots to sit for parents. And the carousel is amazing for kids. We always stop by at least once a year.
Fun, clean, beautiful City park, great from Walking a dog, getting some fresh air, a family picnic or just enjoying the day.... A ton of parking and fun little playground for kids to play on... and an ice rink in winter!
It was great to see people out with their families enjoying the park.
Been coming here since I was a child can never go wrong here great playground a carousel and a nice track if u want to bike ride or jog
Great park that looks to improve its fuctions with new things.
Love this park! Been going for years. Beautiful Bridges to walk over and see all the wildlife. The mosaic acid ball is beautiful. The kids love the playground and the carousel is beautiful. We love going into the back room and talking to the carvers that make the horses... They have amazing free events there during the warmer weather and also had an ice skating rink during the winter.
Amazing well groomed park. Lots of places to explore over the bridge.
Fun place beautiful lots to do
Beautiful park my family and i have many beautiful memories here. Two pedestrian bridges. One will connect you with mento brown park. The other will lead you to Wallace marin park.
Beautiful area to walk, run or just lounge around in the grass. Parking is limited.
Great place for get togethers, and for kids and dogs. Im not from Salem, Im from a small town an hour away and the drive was fine until I got within a mile radius of the park and it became so confusing & frustrating, especially with high traffic right outside the parking entrance. Ugh. Besides that, I enjoyed this park and will come back for more reunions with my friends.
Well cared for grounds, beautiful views, great walking and biking paths, educational self tour, nice venue. Shortage of bathrooms when packed for a crowd performance but adequate on a Post COVID-19 small outdoor get together.
Very nice on one side is full of hobos
Beautiful park to bad its surrounded by homeless drug addicts. Think twice before you take your children
Super clean and more than enough walking paths, only down side was the limited parking.
Beautiful place to rest and relax under the trees! Can walk to Minto Brown over a cool bridge from here!
Ive always loved this park! It has grown and have been molded into something that other towns are envious of. With the newly built walking bridge across the river, it allows people to be much more active. I cant wait to see more to be added to the park.
The scene can be both lively and mellow at the same time great place to just relax or take the kiddo out for some exercise or fun at the park also a great place for #pokemongo
This iconic park has always been a staple for Willamette Valley residents. When they installed the carousel two decades ago it was a very appropriate monument to a time with less technology. For the longest time this park had one of the last phone booths in Salem. This park has just about everything. The carousel, it shares property with the childrens science museum, copious walking trails and direct access to the Minto Brown Park trail system.
Fun for the kids nice place to walk
Love the par but for some reason the water wasnt on for thechild water run
Great place for family walks
Peaceful. Aweaome lunch hour walk. Clean. Beautiful. Great park/waterfront
Well maintained, cute park. Has changed a lot since I was a child. Renovated recently with a pedestrian bridge over to the little island in the river, very ideal place to go running, walking or biking. Saw someone fishing here as well on the Mill Creek side. Nice place to take your kids, there are lots of grassy areas, the carousel and a playground.
Beautiful park by the water, friendly people, and clean. I love the carousel at the park.
Great place to come for a walk and hang out with friends. They make lots of events during the summer and winter. Also great place for talking pictures if your a photographer.
My dad and I visited for the first time and we found it to be very pleasant. Shaded free parking, nice trails and was kept very clean.
Very scenic and pretty! I was there at night enjoying the water sounds. The nocturnal animals definitely started coming out around 6pm but they seemed used to people so I cant say that they were aggressive, but keep an eye out none the less if youre going after dark
Always a nice park to visit with lots to do from walking, the carousel, splash pad for children and the Willamette Queen.
