Besides a few picnic tables and parking spots, the trails are the only attraction in this tiny city park. I like that it first follows along the nearby Powhite Expressway before heading in to the bush. There the seclusion of the woods and hills make for a nice get away. Good for hiking & biking, you can choose an outside loop and several interconnecting trails. No views to speak of. With some backtracking, you can put in a good, satisfying hour of hiking.

One of the best/my favorite parks for Mountain Biking in the area. Also hiking, waking the dog, etc. Smaller sure, but comparable if not better than Pocahontas and sections of Forest Hill Park.Beginners to 20 year experts will all enjoy the loop. It can be technical and challenging but easily passible on foot if need be. Plenty of videos on YouTube as well. It really is the hidden gem in all of Central Virginia.

This was a great find for a quick morning mountain biking session! It was a little hard to find since it’s not obvious where the trail head goes into the woods, but once I found that it was a quick ride into the woods, and then around all the loops at this trail has. There were some great switchbacks, and there is a river bed where there are some nice burn walls where you can get some good speed going! I really enjoyed these nicely maintained trails!

Were pleasantly surprised . It was an hour by the time we were done and did not realize it. Lot of trails yet remaining to be explored. Will definitely visit again. Went there around 11 pm, very few people.little difficult to maintain social distancing but overall nice

Fun little park for mountain biking. Good loops and many possibilities to put some miles together.

Fun trails that are mostly flat, though there are some trails that lead up and down steep inclines. Unlike the wonderful James River Park System trails, the Powhite Park trails arent very crowded. Though, you trade amazing views of the James River for vehicle noise from the Powhite Parkway and views of the back of townhouses on the edge of the park.

Easy to access trail for walking and mountain biking. Be advised that some of the terrain is a little.tricky by foot and the path is narrow. Great place to get some exercise and surround yourself with trees!

Ive been to Pocahontas Park before but never knew about all the activities they offer. I definitely wasnt aware of the water park. For $23 my sons and I spent the afternoon swimming in and enjoying a nice picnic in the water park. I love have they have each section catered to a specific age bracket. They offer a section suitable for toddlers to run around in their own comfort zone. A pool for kids 8 and up and a section for experience swimmers. Im still learning how to swim so I for the 3 feet pool to be accommodating even with a lot of people. Also they have watchful lifeguards on duty that take their job very serious. I notice things like that because I have kids and I do not know how to swim. This park have so much more then meets the eye. You can even rent cabins. With fall around the corner, I look forward to exploring other options and basking in first time experiences. I cant wait to go back.

Beautiful year round and often deserted park just within the city limits. It offers a giant loop of undulating hills and many crisscrossing paths in between. Three trailheads w/ accurate kiosks denoting location and paths within the park. Walkable as well as bikeable. Easy to moderate walking, bi directional, and beautiful year round!

This place is great for a city dweller who is is seeking dirt hiking trails beneath a forest canopy. Ive seen deer, turtles, a fox, LOTS of squirrels, and a bunch of other wildlife here. 2.4 mile loop around the park is my daily workout and a great way to burn off some of my 19lb terriers extra energy. Just be aware of the mountain bikers. Please keep all dogs on leash. Its a posted rule and the polite thing to do.

Im an avid hiker. This is a moderate trail with enjoyable terrain once getting past the Powhite parkway traffic area. Its a great quick 2.5 mile loop. Could be more if you link trails or get lost due to the poor or no markings at forks. The trail is adequately clear, but a good sense of direction and some common sense will keep you on the loop. A few hills that should be carefully navigated as some are steep and footholds scarce on some of the inner links. Watch out for copperheads if you go off trail. While I saw none, I understand the area has many. Stay on the trail, youll be fine. Light traffic. I gave it only 3 stars due to the extremely poor trail marking and blazes.
