Gorgeous hike. Its a pretty uniform, medium effort hike until the very last 5 minutes of the climb when you get to the summit.that last bit of climb is tricky because it is a mix of shale rock and dirt which makes it very slippery. You should definitely not be wearing sandals for this.but the climb is spectacular. In fact the entire hike is quite lovely, and offers a really unique view of the upper part of the Uinta national Forest mountains.
Great place for you to come and enjoy a Nice hike with your family or by yourself. It’s an easy and not difficult trail that with caution it can b done. My wife and I really enjoy this please because of the pictures that we took with our dog. Personally I don’t think I would come here again because we already know what it looks like and we rather try something new but definitely a great experience.
My wife and I went here for a date right before sunset. This was a great hike! It was fairly easy, except the end when it gets steep right before you summit the peak. The scenery is beautiful the whole hike and if there are not others around it is so quite and peaceful.Others have said they would bring their kids on this hike and I agree for most of the way, but some younger kids would have difficulty with the steep part at the end.The drive up is mostly paved, but gets rocky the last stretch. Online it says that most passenger cars can make it to the trail head, but be prepared to go at a snails pace if you are in a passenger car or you may bottom out a few times, however it is possible. An SUV or truck would have made the drive way better. We will do this hike again!
Love this one. Takes a while to get to, including 10-15 minutes on dirt road, but definitely worth it.The hike is quite short but long on views of meadow, mountains (Cascade, Timpanogos, Provo Peak, Y Mountain), Rock Canyon, and Utah Valley. The road is not so bumpy that you cant make the drive in a sedan (my sister did it in a Hyundai Elantra with no issues). For the shortest hike to the peak, park on the side of the road near the Forest Service sign that says Too Hot to Touch, Too Hot to Leave. The path and road get drier and dustier as the summer progresses.
Its a beautiful hike, with several trails connecting into it. If you start at some of the lower trail heads (I stopped at the one 1.5 miles before Buffalo Peak trailhead) youll get to an overlook almost immediately, than veer left and go through some meadows before connecting to BP Trail. I went early August around 7pm and the meadows and aspens were a glowing green. It does get steep going up the last 10 minutes or so, but the average person will be just fine.
A fantastic short (less that 1 mile out and back) peak-bag that is great for kids and dogs. The parking is roadside so there is limited parking, but other than that, this is an amazing hike. You can see views of Cascade, Liberty, Provo, Y Mountain and Squaw Peaks among others. It also has terrific views of Provo and Utah Lake. This is a short, quick to access hike close to Provo that I highly recommend.
Not much parking, zero amenities, a couple of camping spots scattered along the trail, but the views are spectacular. The trail isnt very long, but gradually gets steeper and steeper, and its like stone stairs near the top, but the view of the valley is amazing, and this is one of the best spots in Utah County to hike and watch the sunset from.
Short hike with great view. We did see a rattle snake . Keep your ears open. It sounded a lot like the grasshoppers.
Beautiful overlook. Its a bit steep toward the end of the trail, but well worth the effort!
This is a GREAT hike for kids! I came up here with 3 little boys 7 and younger. The hike was relatively short and the view was beautiful. There is a bit of a steep part but with the kiddos it was perfect because there were pheasants on the trail! The trailhead can be hard to find... but you go up like you’re going up to squaw peak and turn left instead of right. Once you hit the dirt road keep going for a while. Eventually you’ll get to where the earth is cut out to the road and there will be a wooden fence (on the right). That’s where the trail starts! It’s awesome!
We love coming here to see the fall colors.
Very short (about a mile round trip)steep for the last stretch (rocks can be slippery, bring good shoes)SO beautiful! the 360 views from this peak are totally worth the dusty drive.
Unexpected and stunning sunset views of the mountains surrounding as well as the valley below. This +/- 1 mile hike is a MUST see and well worth the little effort for the views.
Beautiful. Easy. My kids loved it. Rocky path.
Short hike to great view of the valley
Super chill hike. Drive most of the way up and take an easy path to the incline, which is fairly steep, but doesnt last too long. Nice for an afternoon hike.
Beautiful hike. Low traffic depending on the day but please keep this little secret clean
Really really pretty view. The trail is fairly easy except the end stretch is somewhat difficult.
It was nice and super pretty between the trees, bushes, and the wildflowers I could not ask for more it was steep at the end but it was not bad at all and it is beautiful.
Great short hike. Beautiful views.
Good elevation, easy access, great views
Fun hike but no signs to indicate where youre going
Not the most satisfying summit, not the best views, but good for an afternoon as the shade on the west side is decent.
Great drive to a little hike. Tremendous views for a quick trip.
Short and fairly steep hike but very beautiful.
Beautiful fall colors.
A beautiful path and view!
Super short, but very pretty.
Great hike for the family. Try to get there early June/late May for full bloom.
It rained a little. Refreshing short hike, best done early morning before it gets hot.
It was a fun hike. The trailhead was a bit hard to find (it is just a hole in a fence.) Once you get to the peak you get a really good view of Squaw peak and can see East Bay of Utah lake pretty well. But your view of the city is obscured by trees. Worth it to do it once.
Beautiful views of the valley and mountains. Easy hike from the road. I tried to ride my mountain bike up it but it became too steep the last couple hundred feet.
Great hike with awesome views! We started at the Squaw Peak TH and did the connector trail. It added a few miles/hundred feet in elevation gain, but was so worth it! Just watch out for snakes.
This is where you access the squaw peak DH trail for mountain biking! There are a plethora of technical jumps and some berms. The trail can get rocky.
Pretty hike
Beautiful view for such a short hike. I had to put my car in low gear going back down so that i didnt destroy my brakes though
Beautiful place
Gorgeous views
We loved this hike. We went with 9 young kids ages ranging from 8-1 year olds. They were all able to hike easily on their own and I hiked in with the 1 yo on my back. It gets steep at the top but the view is well worth it. We went early enough that there wasnt anyone else on the trail or at the top for the 45 minutes we sat and played and let the kids search for their favorite rock. As we were coming back though the trail was getting crowded. I would try and go around 9 and take a light jacket. there is quite a bit of shade at the beginning but towards the top there is little to none.
Nice view!
Not tons of parking and its a dirt road
I did a fun little rain run and enjoyed it a lot. Im sure it would be different when Im not the only person there
Easy fun hike with a great view
Short mostly easy hike, spectacular views, especially when the Autumn colors are on.
Simple hike, but bring bug spray! Sunset over the city is beautiful.
Nice short hike.
You can drive here with decent clearance, you dont need a 4x4 or anything though
Beautiful and short, but busy
Great view!
The trailhead is a little difficult to find. One review said it was moderate which the last descent is rocky but doable for my 9, 6 and 3 year old kids. I carried my youngest for a bit but she walked to the top and climbed the rocks, they really were more like stairs. Beautiful views! Will definitely do it again.
The trail is nice and short, perfect for a family with young kids. There are just a couple steep sections towards the very end, but easily manageable with a hand hold for the youngest. Even at the top, there arent any sudden drop offs, which makes the views maybe not so impressive. However, theyre still amazing because you can see all of the Provo Orem area!
Beautiful views and pretty easy
This spot is spectacular! -- see photos
The trailhead is just of to the side of the road. No parking lot is absurdness but you can park on the road. The hike was simple enough for my young children (9, 6, and 3). The mountain is more lush and green in the spring and early summer then the late summer.
This is a great hike with an excellent view.
Beautiful, peaceful, and fun. We hardly saw anyone else climbing up the trails and it wasnt very strenuous. The last bit of the hike which was up the peaks itself was more difficult than the rest, but still very doable and a good challenge.
Great views and much more accessible than Squaw Peak. Go up Squaw Peak road, its a few miles past Hope campground
Nice short hike, there is a gravel road on the way up so be prepared for that. Although the hike is short, the last bit is incredibly steep. Take it easy and youll be fine.
Drive is fun, walk is beautiful.
So pretty!! I love it! Just wish it was less crowded sometimes
Super pretty and easy!
Great hike!
Wonderful flower hike in june, great views into the valley! Not too strenuous, you can do it in a loop easily...
This is accessible by dirt road. Turn left at the fork with the turn off for the Squaw Peak overlook. The hike is short and family friendly. It gets steep only at the very end. It offers a majestic view of Squaw peak, Wymount, the lake, Timp, Cascade, Shingle Mill, Freedom, Provo Peak, and Provo East. You can also access it from the trail leaving the Squaw Peak Overlook parking lot. That is a mile and a half or so.
Short, pretty hike with nice views.
Great view of the valley after a short but steep hike.
It was gorgeous at this time if year with all the leaves changing!!!
Beautiful country to be in!
Beautiful short hike. Great views.
Driving terrain is a little rough but the views are amazing
Amazing view, crazy short hike. Not nearly as many people as youd expect.
Great place to have a picnic.
A good hike with great views.
Beautiful place! Can be busy at times.
Awesome!
Good
One mile hike that rewards with excellent views of Timp, Cascade, Provo peak, Freedom Peak, Shingle Mill Peak and off course Utah Lake. The last hundred yards are steep.
I like this place
Just stunning.
