Cool place. They have all of these stuffed animals around the place which makes for a cool atmosphere. Its a cool, informative place.
This museum is fantastic. It’s informative and entertaining for a wide variety of audiences. It’s engaging for kids without being childish, and even as an adult you can find something new every time you go. The church history involved, the children’s play set, the unique displays, and the best gift shop ever also add to the fun. Plus, there’s a liger. What’s not to love?
Wow love this place! Its so much nicer after the updates!!!!!!! Come and have a look, youll love it!!!!!!!! Its awesome when they have special displays, once they gave a scaled view of what a giant anaconda would be like and it was humongous
Its good to bring your kids around if youre low on budget.
Date of Visit: 5/11/2019OVERVIEW - 5.0Came here on a whim. I acknowledge it was my wifes idea. We had a real idle Saturday, and wanted to go out and be entertained for free.LOCATION - 5The museum is located up around the BYU campus in one of their buildings, for a Saturday it wasnt very busy.PRICE - 5Nothing is better than free. You get much more than you pay for, I can confirm that.PRODUCT/SERVICE - 5The museum is really well put together there is so much to see, and depending on how much detail you want to dive into can vary on how much time you spend at the museum. I would also say having children could be a factor, but they are easily entertained with all to see and do. My particular favorite section was the Humanoid Evolution section.POINTERS/PERKS - 5If you are one that loves to learn more details about what youre looking at, bring both your phone and headphones, or earbuds. There are plenty of QR Codes throughout to see more details about the various animals. Also a parking pass is required, they are free to the public but only need to be requested at the front desk.EMPLOYEES - 5The lady at the front desk was incredibly nice and helpful. Had a great experience!
Wow. This place was awesome. Kids and adults will love this place. And free... Cant believe this place.
Live animal demo was outstanding and very informative. The presenter was young, but very knowledgeable and u could tell she was doing what she loved as were the other employees. The overall museum was excellent and definitely focused towards young children in their informative years. This was date night for my wife and I, but bringing the grandkids made it that much more special.Cant say enough good things and at the price (free) for Night at the Museums it doesnt get much better than that.
The Bean Museum is a great place to visit. We took some friends to see the art and carvings of Boyd K. Packer.
The exhibits and live animal shows are well-done and professional, and are suited for elementary- to middle school-aged kids. The presenter did an excellent job of asking questions and receiving kids’ answers well. For toddlers and babies, there is a little play area with a slide. Minus a star because it is almost always crowded and overrun by older kids.
Scavenger hunt is way too difficult to be enjoyable. Im sorry I didnt go to BYU so I dont have the deductive skills necessary to know which animal species are relevant out of a hundred. The scavenger hunt is supposed to be for 10 year olds but I dont imagine that a child has the attention span to rigorously zig zag across the museum trying to find some obscure animal name. Its yet another thing that gets placed as a burden onto the parents to do because theres no way a 10 year old could accomplish this.If your target demographic is 10 year olds maybe make it more straight forward. Im 30 years old and after 8 hours of driving the last thing I wanted to do is feel inferior to a piece of paper that requires all my mental faculties to even participate with.
This museum is filled with a variety of animals with informative information and displays. At the front desk you can grab an age appropriate scavenger hunt to complete during your stay. There are 2 main levels with stairs and an elevator. Admission is free, but donations are accepted. Great place to go with children or on a date.
I took my 20 month old twins here with my sister and we had a blast. There is a small play area and some interactive parts, but the majority of the museum is a look, but dont touch situation. As an adult I loved it and particularly enjoyed the evolution wall and the beautiful paintings on the walls. My toddlers had a ton of fun looking at the different animals and making the sounds they would make. This museum is probably more appropriate for grade school and above, but we had fun.
Family friendly! We loved it.
Its been several years since we have been here and I LOVE what they have done. It is all so improved and interactivity. Highly recommend it.
Awesome museum, lots of taxidermied animals and overall a fun little excursion
Wonderful place to see some amazing things. Cant think of a cooler place to go that is free.
It was wonderful. Their gift store is inexpensive and its very wholesome all in all. Their museum is very educational for the family
Ive been to this museum years ago and it was so simple. They have really up the experience and now its really cool. By far the best free museum Ive ever been too. Also have good activities for kids.
We live the Bean Museum! Went there as a kid and now my kids love it.
This museum is free, which is great, but its smaller than some of the other natural history museums in the state. There were fewer interactive exhibits as well. It didnt keep us entertained very long. We saw everything within about 40 minutes. If youre looking for a short inexpensive way to entertain kids, then this might be a good option.
The Bean museum was updated a few years back and has some cool additions. Good place to bring kids, there are a few interactive touch screens and they have live shows to meet animals in person. Its also a good location, right next to a BYU creamery by the old desert towers (now heritage halls). After checking out the stuffed animals its fun to go grab an ice cream.
Well maintained fun place for kids and adults.
Such a fun museum! Sooo many animals that I had never seen before (along with the classic favorites). My husband and I enjoyed it and I was really surprised at how much my 1-year-old liked it! Best of all, its FREE. They do have a donation box and a gift shop with some really cute & decently priced merchandise. This is the only picture I took while we were there, but it shows that they have a lot of unique animals too.
Amazing short little free day trip worth your time if you like to learn more about animals in Utah!
Whats better than a museum of amazing animals for the kids...well a free one like this one! If you havent been to the museum in the past couple years, is time to go back as they have really changed it up and its quite the impressive museum. The only con would be the play area as it only has one slide that all the kids fight over and a rock structure that says no climbing. Wish the past area was larger but definitely worth a stop.
First time Ive been since the remodel, and I really liked the updates. While there arent many interactive exhibits, it is very kid- friendly. Some of the signs for the larger animals had information about how some species cooperated that I found fascinating. The room full of Elder Packers art was a particularly pleasant surprise. If you havent been to the Bean in awhile, do yourself a favor and go.
Love the Bean Museum. So grateful that they make this available for free for us and our kids to enjoy. Its a perfect activity for a cold or rainy day, and they do an excellent job of maintaining it, and even update displays periodically. No matter how many times we go, my kid always loves it here.
Amazing displays! My 6 year old loved it all! I just wish they had old school audio info buttons in each display instead of needing a phone scanner app. And more hands on stuff for the kids. The live animals shows are GREAT! And all free!
My 5 year old loves this place so much! We had been there for an hour and had to go but she was begging to stay! The gift shop is beautiful and well stocked with great prices! (Suprisingly since gift shops are usually expensive) and the staff are sweet, helpful, and really friendly! They even let my daughter draw on part of the wall & watched her while I finished looking around (she was SO proud of herself!). Its on the smaller size for museums but just as nice and is never crowded. It also has a cute little play place great for toddlers and younger kids. Great place to go for Family Home Evening or just a fun, inexpensive way to spend an afternoon (cant beat free!;)
Free!! Nothing like a cool educational museum that is free! My kids loved seeing all the interesting animals and loved going to the classes they teach. They even got to pet a snake!
This isnt your parents Bean Museum. Theyve put in a lot of work into the renovation. I personally think they made it feel like the New York Natural History Museum.
I havent been here in years and I took my kids here and some of my sisters for something to do. It was awesome! Theyve added a ton of stuff and expanded the building. Its suuuuuper nice and still completely free. It was a Saturday and they werent crazy busy though there was some traffic. Theres a little gift shop now, too. Basically they have a whole bunch of taxidermy animals on display. I liked the birds the most. Theres a lot of African animals: a huge elephant, some giraffes, zebras, lions, gazelles, etc. Theres a lot more educational information displays now and things seem more thoughtfully spread throughout the museum. Theres a little play area with a little treehouse type thing with a slide and a tunnel cave with a bear head inside it, which was kinda scary for my three year old, but my one year old loves crawling through the tunnel.
Great experience. Great memories. One of the best historical place in this city.
Very fun place to visit. One of the best free things to do in Provo.
Free museum (donations accepted) with lots of animals to see. You can check out an iPad to get lots of additional info at most stations, including videos. The Boyd K Packer exhibit (he was quite the artist) is amazing. Our kids loved the Liger. Great place to take the kids. Go inside to get your free parking pass.
I really enjoyed walking around the place. Plus, they have the biggest elevator Ive ever seen. Good place for a quick place to take kids or a date that takes longer than kids can last. They do educational presentations for kids where they show them some love it dead animals that they talk about.
Super cool museum and was free for students last time I went. The taxidermy was very neat. Probably spent an hour just looking at all the taxidermy. There are neat little activities along the way for little kids. Worth checking out.
Thoroughly impressed my wife and I. She had been in there years ago but the updates made it feel like a whole new building. It showcased a lot’s of birds and native wildlife. Plus an African Savanna section and a room dedicated to President Packard. The second floor is not done yet. We will go back to check it out.
We arrived for Thursday reading time and then enjoyed the displays with a 1 and 2 year old. They had fun and we didnt get any scowls for being a little noisy. :)
AMAZING!!! cant wait to go back!
Great free place for young kids to see and feel different types of animal hides and fur. Many different animal exhibits including a live exhibit and learning session at 13:00 that included a tarantula, toad, and snake. Also, a Boyd K. Packer room with his nature notes, portraits, and military service memorabilia.
Really nice for a family afternoon in Provo. I think what gives this place 5 starts is its proximity to the art museum on campus. Theres just a lot for kids to do and see and makes for a great afternoon.
So many amazing exhibits and they keep adding and changing things so its new and exciting. Theres a fun kid area with a slide and interactive computer exhibits too.
This is such a cool place! It’s really interesting seeing all of the taxidermy. I’m not a big fan of killing animals for their skins, but my friend who works there told me that most of the exhibits are at least one hundred or two hundred years old, or the animal passed on naturally. Really neat way to raise awareness for animals, and it really increases your appreciation of animals.
Great place to take kids. Its free admission. There are lots animals to see and a few interactive activities. There are restrooms available. Theres two levels. There is a small play area for kids with one slide and a little cave to crawl into. Theres also a small shop to purchase merchandise.
This is an entertaining museum Ive been going to for as long as I can remember. My mom used to get all of us kids together and take us here, and we loved it. Now I take my kids, and its just as enjoyable! We love seeing the animals, and the whole museum is organized very well. It has a wide variety of animals from different places around the world. I usually spend 1-2 hours here, depending on how long the kids play on the little slide they have. The gift shop is also super cute. They recently remodelled everything, so it has a fresh, clean feel. I cant fully express my love for this amazing museum! I highly recommend a visit, with or without children.
More parking is needed. Id love to bring my littles there more often, but with limited parking, it doesnt seem worth it. I understand that theres not a lot the museum can do about it, but maybe some of the parking needs to be flexible to allow for visitors
Kept teenagers and 8 year old equally entertained.....
My very very favorite part is a collection of carved woods by Elder Boyd K. Packer. They have some from when he was 4 to when he was 80 years old. That alone makes the museum worth visiting. The museum isn’t huge and in general it is aimed at a younger demographic. They have collection of butterfly specimens as well as several taxidermied animals, such as grizzly bears, wolves and yaks. The big plus is that it’s right off of BYU campus and it’s free, so if you’re a student looking for a cheaper date night and you’re academically incline (as is your date) it’s a great place.
I had a wonderful experience at the museum with the field trip I was attending. The museum is full of amazing animals and descriptions of them. My only complaint is the possibility of receiving a parking ticket while there.
If you dont like to see dead animals this isnt the place for you, however, if you love science and seeing all kinds of exotic animals this place is incredible! It is perfect for all ages and they have shows for more information during certain hours.
Its a fun place to go. It is an wildlife museum, not a museum about beans. The remodel they did a few years ago really improved and updated things. Its free and there are cool animal shows sometimes (check the schedule). Its like going to the zoo, but without the smell.
The Bean Life Science Museum is a fantastic, family go to! It’s free, they have exhibits everywhere so the kids aren’t bored. There is so much to see, some are even interactive. There’s a little, “mini” playground area. Their animal/bug show they do is also pretty cool. If your kids are interested in animals, you’ll really enjoy it. Especially if they like to pet snakes haha. We go at least once or twice a year.
This museum is filled with lots of fun and education experiences for my kids and myself. They have a large collection of animals to exhibit, a little playground/slide area as well for a break for the kids, some interactive games about insects. The basement has a small auditorium with a live animal exhibit. My kids really liked it. Youd want to check the schedule online before going. I take the kids every other year or so and they keep changing enough things for the kids to enjoy it each time.
A few really cool animals to see. The exhibits are a bit small but its a great hour to kill if you around the byu campus. They are still renovating the upstairs so there isnt much to see other than a few scenes
This is the perfect free place to take kids to see actual size animals and learn a lot. I highly recommend visiting!
What a gem...interactive and well designed, the animal show was great, the displays are full of great info and I highly recommend carving three or four hours out of an afternoon to take the whole family and enjoy this wonderful museum!
If you are a student dont try coming if you need to drive because they wont let you use the lot unless you pay for parking. The animals they have are cool but not too many. Walk through in half an hour.
We enjoy going here with the grandchildren reach and every time. Appreciate the cleanliness and spaciousness of the facility. We love to see the added features each time as they are so different. A great place to take your loved ones each time!
It is worth your visit. Our family love it and come to visit as much as we can. Thank you for creating such a wonderful experience for free!
Great place to take the kids.
Its a great place to take the kids.
Want to know what a Liger looks like? (Part Lion and Part Tiger), then go check it out at the Bean Museum. The museum is really impressive and I am shocked that admission is free.
Great experience for kids and adults of all ages. Fun little play area on the main floor, lots of displays to look at and plenty for kids to learn about. Free admission, but make sure you get parking validation or they will charge you. Its a little annoying to have to park, go in and get the parking ticket, then go back out to put it in your vehicle (required or youll be charged) but other than that we enjoyed ourselves.
When you consider the fact that this museum is FREE, it makes you realize just how awesome it is. Youd have to pay for most other museums like this. This museum is full of big and fun displays of all sorts of different animals, insects, and creatures. You name it, and theyve most likely got one here. I especially love the displays of the elephant, moose, and the bear right when you walk in the door.Especially in a place like Provo full of Moms who are looking for a spot to let their kids get some wiggles out and explore, this is a great place to stop. Theyve got games, activities, a little play area, scavenger hunts, and they even put on little shows sometimes.
Great for kids to see animals. Not enough information provided at displays. Some displays are lacking any information at all, including the name of the animal. Free!
Amazing free museum for the whole family!
The bean Life science museum as one of the great treasures of Utah county... And all of Utah as well....I will have to go on record as saying I like the older configuration better before the improvements but the building is beautiful and the emphasis on how some the general authorities interacted with the natural environment will be something that church members would love to know about. I came to the bean museum when I was a student we brought our children after I got married and now my daughter is bringing her kids so its a multi-generational family tradition.
Wonderful place to take the family and let the kids explore nature! Has stuffed animal from all over the world and all the animals died of natural causes. They have a free evening demonstration of animals, better for older kids our toddlers got a little boalred but still had fun.
One of my favorite museums. And its free. It is simple and has many displays. From what I understand most of the animals was from a private hunting collection which can be controversial, but it is used as an educational tool now which is great. There is a little that is intractable or touchable but much is no touch. The 2 year old can enjoy as well as the 13 year old.
Have loved coming here for over 30 years. I love sharing the awesome animals I remember as a kid, with my own children!
We always love coming here when we visit. Fun to see so many animals, and it will be fun to see how it ends up when they finish the projects theyve got going
Great free place to being the kids. Tons of possibilities for learning.
Great place to bring your kids, free, fun, and educational, they have a live animal show several times a week and its free as well. No complaints, nothing but praise.
Great museum, fun attractions and cant beat the free price!
I have been going to this museum since I was a little boy! I have had the opportunity to take my kiddos several times. It is a great way to spend time with family and friends! Amazing animals, from all over!
Place is a great spot to hold youth activities. They also do live animal shows. Great learning experience. They have a spot that is being painted now that shows a lot of the mountain landscapes of Utah. Great place to bring kids so they can learn.
What a collection of animal exhibits. They have preserved many magnificent animals and have many of them in interactive poses. The big Kodiak bear at the entrance is just the beginning of awesome displays that give you real life size of these awe inspiring animals. The elephant, giraffes and white rhino are quite impressive. Be sure to check out the upper exhibits as well to view predators and literally come face to face with a lion pride and wolf packs.
This museum has a lot of different animals and great displays. There is a lot of information and great for kids! I enjoyed that they had several options for scavenger hunts for kids ranging from toddlers to upper grade elementary school.
A great place to take kids for an hour on a Saturday. The exhibits are well thought out and you can obviously get much closer to these stuffed animals than those at the zoo, so its a unique experience. We had a contest to see which kid could best imitate a given animals pose the best which resulted in some great shots, if you need an idea of what to do there to make things more interesting.
So much fun for the family! A great variety of animals and a fantastic gift shop!
We have made it our tradition to at least attend the museum each spring break. My boys love all the animals and they always learn something new each time. It is such a nice perk to be able to attend for free. We have been following the progress of the beautiful mural upstairs and cant wait to see it finished. We always finish off the trip with ice cream just around the corner at the BYU creamery.
Ever since I was a student Ive loved the Bean Musuem. Now we love taking our kids back to visit often! Great place for families!!
So much to learn and see in here. My kids love going here. We used it as a zoology feildtrip the last time.
I have loved the Bean Museum for over 20 years, and it just keeps getting better. There are not very many museums this nice with this many interesting things for people of all ages to see that you can get in for free.
Love this place! It has had an extensive remodeling and is better than ever.
Great place for children. Lots of displays and Hands-On activities.
Took 2 grandkids, and they loved it. I enjoyed it as well. The cost was awesome - Free! The interactive bug exhibit was the best.
Amazing that this is free. There so much to see even though theyre renovating. If you have more than right people you can schedule a free, exclusive animal show.
Interesting. New exhibits. Informative.
Small, but good exhibits. We love all the birds! And its free!
The price was free. The tour was self guided. There was a show about animals. It was geared towards the younger generation. I loved it.
Been coming here since I was really young! Really cool taxidermy!
Its free but you should donate. Family friendly and worth a visit every few months if you have little ones. I grew up coming here and my kids love it too.
Wonderful Life Sciences Museum for all ages! We took our toddlers to the evening show and they got pretty restless but it was definitely fun. Our kids ( 4 & under) love the little slide area in the back of the main level.
Such a fun experience for kids and adults.
This is a really cool place. Theyve got a pretty good assortment of stuff and they do switch it out every once and a while also. Great place for kids especially seems like they have shoes with animals and such for kids. Probably wouldnt drive to far for this but if you are close by it is worth stopping by sometime for sure.
So fun and awesome for a free museum for all family members. They have some free live animal stuff too.
