Great things about the MOA:1. It seems like it is always open.2. It generally has very few people and it is a very free-roaming environment which means that you can go and see the art, or just go nestle down and find a quiet place to think3. The art is always changing4. It has a delicious cafe5. It is free
We love going to the MoA! The exhibits are always so beautiful and heartfelt, especially the section with all of the artwork of Christ. The cafe upstairs is delicious as well. Definitely stop in and visit if you find yourself roving through Provo!
Nice place. They switch things around to keep it interesting. Some beautiful art to view here.
Peaceful beautiful experience. Enjoyed Minerva Teichert showing.
Always a fun place to visit. Lots of community events, be sure to check out the website! This is a great museum for dates and family nights!
BEAUTIFUL museum! Wonderful temporary exhibits and MANY impressive permanent works by Warhol, Rembrandt, Bloch, Dorothea Lang, Norman Rockwell, Titian, and a wealth of works by Minerva Teichert.
Thought provoking and holy feeling. Love this place.
This is a fun and free venue. The content here is always uplifting, looking to make the world a better place through inspiring art. They also have events from time to time. Be sure to check out the outside if you are here on a sunny day. They have a small water feature around back and the trees are just beautiful in the fall! As you can see from the picture taken from the back :)
Such a wonderful collection of fine art in this location.
Very good university! I have my sister in law. She come to this university and she love. She only said good things about this place.
The rainbow art piece in the middle is stunning and we love coming and seeing all the different exhibits. It is clean, informative and beautiful. Ive gone with my kids on feildtrips, on dates and even for girls night out.
Im always glad to visit this amazing place. I love their exhibits!
I love this place. Every time I come where I wish I could stay for a couple of more hours. Thanks to all the donors and curators that bring such interesting and intriguing art to us.
This museum is awesome. Great place for a date. Fun group date location as well. We came here for a scavenger hunt. There are local events that often happen in the museum as well. Its really such a neat place.
Awesome!! Windswept was incredible! A must see. To imagine such a feat inside a building is incredible!
Beautiful building and great collection of art.
So fun. They are always changing up the exhibits. And art after dark happens every month which is a great time to see everything and socialize.
This was a great place for me and my husband to go and there was amazing art! I probably spent more than an hour in there! I really loved it
Really impressive! Just make you go with plenty of free time as to not feel in a hurry. I really like of the current temporary exhibits going on now. They have date nights some fridays that would be great for couples. A fun place to go when looking to do something for free.

Free entry and cool exhibits. We saw Escher last year and Windswept this year. We live visiting the MOA as a family.
Probably one of the better and big art museums in Utah
Amazing artwork from modern artists to the classics. They rotate through various sacred and secular themed showings and Ive never been disappointed. Plus, its free. On Friday evenings they do a date night for the college students often featuring love music and refreshments.
Great art! They have fun events on occasion.
The after Promontory display was amazing.
Art After Dark is my favorite on campus event! They always have great exhibits cycling through. The current one on propaganda is thought provoking.
We really enjoyed the Windswept exhibit. Its amazing to see how it was actually assembled.
We went for an Art After Dark event. Wonderful live music, delicious food, and beautiful art. The best part? Its all free! Do yourself a favor and check out the Becoming America exhibit.
Great museum. The windswept exhibit is really beautiful. Plus you have to come see this permanent rainbow upon entering. Love it!
The museum is BEAUTIFUL! They always have such excellent exhibits on display, and great food (though small quantity) on the upper floor. Youll have to go downstairs to see most of the exhibits, but theyre worth the walk. I would recommend making sure to visit when you know theres an exhibit youll like to see, but your visit will still be worth it even if you go just to browse.
The bottom floor of the museum is super boring for kids. Some adults may enjoy it, but not really much to see. The top floor always has cool exhibits and also has a gift shop type place as well. There is no touching allowed, but you can take photos as long as you dont use a flash. The security staff is wary of children, but has been pretty understanding when weve been there.
Its free, which is always amazing. Theyve also recently brought back art after dark where theyll have live music and treats after normal hours (still free!) absolutely fantastic!
Gorgeous museum with lots to offer. Very LDS and America-focused. A wide range of exhibitions to pique the interest of anyone
Fun and free date night! I recommend asking for the scavenger hunt, it really adds to the experience.
We went for a specific exhibit, but stayed for the tour of the regular, rotating exhibit in the lower floor. The tour was incredibly interesting and we wished we had planned more time to be there. It was thought-provoking and inspiring. Still cant believe it was free.
Love the MOA and especially the bookstore! Got a really cool exhibit right now too of these Willow branch tree creations.
Saw two wonderful exhibits. A gem of a museum on a campus we never frequent. Definitely worth the trip into cougar territory.
A wonderful museum with super staff. We loved the variety of displays and the scavenger hunts.
Really enjoyed the new exhibit, A Studio of Her Own, showcasing BYUs collection women in the Art world in the past century+. The museum app isnt actually available yet so plan to read the art labels just like we always have!
Very nice art features
This is a wonderful place. Its got rotating exhibits, always well presented, and always free. They do a great job of bringing in things to blow your mind, make you ponder, or bring peace to your soul. A great date night, scout activity, family night, etc.
A little GEM of an art museum with amazing exhibits and works normally found in larger Metropolitan Museums. Always quality, always visually stimulating and something memorable and thought provoking!
Clean, free, beautiful, and interesting. So many reasons to visit. Parking is easy for visitors and all facilities and amenities nearby. Great place to visit for interesting exhibits.
This museum always has beautiful exhibits, with a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Occasionally they have exhibits you need to pay to get into, but most of the time the exhibits are free. I really enjoy this museum.
My husband and I visited the Museum of Art while touring the Brigham Young University campus. Its a gem, and absolutely free. The Windswept exhibit was great: we had previously seen an installation by Patrick Dougherty at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, so were excited to view his work again. We also loved the Becoming America exhibit, the standout pieces of which included portraits by Maynard Dixon
The exhibits are always some of the best in the nation. The BYU Museum of Art has a pretty impressive owned collection, including many famous Carl Bloch paintings. It seems like every few months they install a new awesome exhibit to keep the artwork fresh and revolving. Highly recommended for anyone, from serious artists to those who dont even consider themselves interested in art! This is such a great place!
I come here whenever I have the chance. There are rotating exhibits so it doesnt get stale. Most of the museum is free but occasionally some exhibits charge a few dollars to get in... definitely worth it. Dont miss the gardens outside they are my favorite part. When I was a student it was a lovely break between classes to rejuvenate and now as an alumni its a great place to spend time while waiting for others. Do be advised that youll need to check big bags, and strollers cant always navigate the large installations.
The museum of art is always a nice quiet place to sleep if you are a student. If I am eating it for that then it is absolutely five stars. As a museum I give it four as the displays and exhibits are always good and well thought out. My only suggestion is that the museum look for some more ways to make things a little more engaging. There has been some use of tablets with videos but (in my experience) there could definitely be some ways to make it more engaging and dynamic.
Beautiful space. Clean facility and amazing art
Always worth stopping by to see their new exhibits. Thoughtfully selected pieces with well-written and insightful commentary. If you have the opportunity to take one of their guided tours, DO IT.
Peaceful place to visit with some excellent curated galleries that rotate in and out. Seems like an exhibit could be around for several weeks to several months.
They have wonderful date night activities and they change out the exhibits regularly.
The Museum of Arts (MoA) regularly changes its exhibits so theres always something new to see, and surprisingly they dont just do Christian exhibits, but feature art of all genres. This is an excellent date night for anybody looking for a free event.
Nice museum on BYU campus with some good exhibits from time to time. There are different events occurring that add some spice to the place
Good place for art lovers.
This is a beautiful facility filled with wonderful and uplifting art. Some exhibits change the main collection is permanent. This is a wonderful place to introduce children two art museums. It is not too very large for them to enjoy.
The no pictures policy is ridiculous. I have been told countless times to put my camera phone away. Even for statues and art installations! So all of these pictures on these reviews are, according to the website, extremely against the rules. The Louvre allows photography for personal use. The National Gallery allows photography for personal use. MANY art museums allow photography for personal non commercial use. Until this is changed I will travel elsewhere for art museums.
This museum at BYU is one of the more popular ones, boasting an indoor restaurant and various displays. The exhibit I included was created by Patrick Dougherty, renowned internationally for his amazing branch sculptures. It should remain there until April 2019. The atmosphere is as expected, quiet and no backpacks or larger are allowed inside, the staff providing a bin for your belongings. Great place but I rarely go as, not an art fan.
An excellent experience, giving access to a broad range of work at no cost for entry.
Very fun museum with professional, well curated exhibits. Its a good place to kill some time if you want something fun to do!
Gorgeous exhibits. Really clean and neat. Highly recommend.
I respect BYUs art department so much. I went through a phase when I was younger when I was really sort of narrow and insular and I owe the MOA a lot for helping me becoming more open-minded and loving again.
Ive come to visit this museum ever since I was a kid and my family moved to Utah. Ive always loved it here, the variety of art and styles that you encounter at this museum has kept my intrigue since I was young (about 10 yrs old). My father used to be head over custodial/ maintenance for part of BYU campus when I was younger and this art museum was one of the buildings he looked after. He had to commute about an hour to work each day, plus he held two jobs at times and I didnt always get to see him. I remember going with him some early mornings or late nights and spending the day with him as he worked. I loved going with him as he would light new exhibits or help set some things up. Often I would get to see art projects before others or during the creation process. It was a lot of fun for me as a kid.
BYU MOA has great exhibits. From the Carl Bloch exhibit a few years ago, to the MC Escher exhibit there now, their exhibits are top notch. One thing that sets them apart is how they show an artists progress, highlighting different stages in their career, showing how different life events may have affected their work. I try to make it there a few times a year to experience the different exhibits they bring.
Very nice museum. It was definitely more than I expected
The MOA is a wonderful art museum. Its completely free to visit and browse and they cycle through unique collections relatively frequently. The last time I went they had a pop art exhibit including art by Andy Warhol. In addition to great art and a cute little gift shop, there is also a cafe above the MOA (called the MOA Cafe) where you can get delicious sandwiches or salads during the cafes hours. If you live in Provo or around Provo, theres no excuse not to visit the BYU Museum of Art.The MOA also has a fun scavenger hunt program. Every once and a while when a new collection comes in, they organize a scavenger hunt where you hunt for the painting that have little details from the scavenger hunt pamphlet. Once you find all of the paintings featured in the scavenger hunt, you can go to the workers at the MOA front desk and get a prize. Its a really fun date night activity.
A peaceful place with beautiful art and easy parking for visitors, plus a very convenient location for BYU students. I loved going here and sketching as a kid and I still enjoy visiting now that I have kids myself.
Its free! Love the artwork and fun to see the changing exhibits. My favorites are the paintings by Minerva Teichert. Cute gift shop and friendly employees.
Its small, but usually has free, interesting exhibits.
I love going here and looking at the beutiful art and maybe getting something nice from the shop!
I love the BYU Museum of Art! Todays exhibits were especially fantastic. The whole family enjoyed it (6 year old along) and we always enjoy a trip through the gift shop at the end. The have the cleverest little trinkets, beautiful journals, and art work too. Great visit today!
Great museum and its freeee!
Gorgeous. Inspiring. Evocative. I love museums. I especially liked the gift shop, where I found a book of Minerva Teichert art.
Its good, but rather small. Theres really not a lot to see like in the other BYU museums. That being said, the art in it is all beautiful. Great for a short date or family visit.
Always have incredible exhibits as well as a darling gift shop. I believe they even have a little restaurant on the top floor.
Beautiful artwork! Peaceful atmosphere.
Something great every time I visit. And free! Always free
All of my kids love visiting the moa. And so do us adults. Their rotating exhibits are usually really really cool, plus the permanent collection is remarkable. Its worth going to and they dont glare at you for bringing your kids.
Great exhibits. Cannot beat the price!
The museum is free and there re always exciting new exhibits. Sometimes there are even free events with love music. Besides those events, its very quiet. Either way, its a wonderful place to go see. If you plan on just stopping by quickly youll be sad you couldnt see everything and youll definitely plan to come again!
A lot of interesting art installations. I wasnt here that much (this is just where we had the opening meeting every day for Design Week), but what I saw was nice.
Love seeing the new exhibits every few months.
The exhibits are so delightful and engaging!!
If youre looking for a good place for a date thats FREE, 10/10 would reccomend.
Fantastic place. The collections on display are amazing. Take the whole family.
A very unique museum with some very amazing artwork. There are some ineffably beautiful pieces of work here. A great mix of religious art and contemporary artwork also so its never boring and youre never looking at just one main theme. Once youre finished here if you cross the little courtyard and go into the next building you can view the student artwork which was amazing also. There are some very talented people out there and this is a great place to see some of that talent displayed! Also easy to find, free parking, neat little gift shop as soon as you walk in, and best of all its free to enter the museum!!
We enjoyed paintings and the university chorus.
I always love a free museum, and this is one of the best I have been to. The displays are refreshed frequently and everything is kept clean and orderly.
Beautiful art, relaxing environment, not often crowded.
Small, but always free and with changing exhibits. Worth visiting to see the variety of quality exhibits.
Fun fact: ART IS HUMAN EXPRESSION. And every piece of art is a different expression of the human soul. The MOA is great to see art of course! But good conversations, fun dates, and interesting new ideas come of the place. If you like those things, then you know what? The BYU MOA is the place for you.[This statement is endorsed by Garret Quinton.]
This place is always great! Their permanent collection pieces are wonderful!
The MOA is a fantastic place to visit. They have wonderful art and fun, free toddler activities.
I really loved this place but didnt really love the exhibit with the tree limbs. I might have liked it better if it was outside.
First time being to an art museum. I loved all the paintings, and the information they gave on them and the painters. The rainbow string art was AMAZING. It was definitely a neat experience.
