Had a great time. Very clever. Only had 2 in our party so we had to ask for clues and still went a little over the time limit before we completed. You probably want at least 4 or 5 when you do this. I would love to do this individually and be able to take as long as I need if that was ever an option. Being undermanned for the hour that we had made me rush and didnt give my best effort because I couldntfocus properly. Had never done this before so decent amount of the time was spent figuring how this works once we got in there. Would be better experience second time onwards. Hope to come back some day.

Best escape adventure Ive done, yet. Did the Freedom room with Brookes as the guide. Our party was 7 adults and 3 kids (8-11yo) and everyone was able to contribute and have fun. Puzzles and decor were very well done. Excellent theme and activities were a great mix of analog and tech-assisted. Fun National Treasure / Dan Brown feel. Great activity when visiting the cultural icons of Philly.

I’m almost positive the person who helped us was named Garrett (my apologies if I got that wrong) but he was super helpful throughout our escape room experience! The room itself (Ben Franklin room) definitely got the best of us! Tricky puzzles and riddles that kept us on our toes and racing against time. Very fun date night, would absolutely return to try their other room! :)

My wife and I are on vacation for our honeymoon and have never done and escape room before. Our host was very friendly and gave us a couple very subtle hints where we got stuck. We did the Ben Franklin revolutionary themed one and it was a blast. I think we’ve found a hobby that we will be diving headfirst into. I absolutely recommend.

I brought a group of 25 adults here for a fundraiser. Were all in our 30s/40s. Everyone had a great time. We booked both escape rooms and raced each other. The rooms are sophisticated and fun and require no prior knowledge just curiosity and initiative. We were able to regroup at the end in the common area which is very comfortable and welcoming and serve drinks and snacks. The owners are communicative and friendly and really want to make sure everyone is comfortable.

Went here last night with my wife and another couple. We had a blast and we escaped. The 80’s boxing theme was fun. Who knew you could add that much into two rooms. Also, I liked that you were not limited on clues so you could have a chance of finishing. Very fun evening!

SUCH cool. I reached out to about 19 places for our Escape Game company social excursion, and the only one I felt really developed a connection with the idea was Olde City. Communication was easy and friendly, and for planning an inaugural event with many people, this was the key to a great time.All my co-workers had a blast. I broke down our group into two teams ahead of time so we could go in and just not worry about a thing, but the overwhelming suggestion from us was we want to go back and swap rooms. And for someone who cant get her way out of one to save lives, Ive done these plenty of times, but Olde City was the most unique. Thats as much as Im giving away.The only thing Id note to future companies who want to participate in this--the catering can be pricey, but its Wawa so its the best, just make sure you pick it out way ahead of time and include it in your budget. This is nothing to take stars away for of course, just a heads up.We WILL be back. For something as normal as Escape Rooms these days, this is one that has to be on your list to experience. They are lovely, the rooms are fun, and the atmosphere is comfortable and cozy. LOVE.

Quest for Freedom is a spectacular escape room. We went with 2 experienced and 2 inexperienced players and all of us had a wonderful time. The room is very clever and has an excellent atmosphere. I highly recommend it!

I went to Olde City Escape for a team building outing for my company. They were very helpful throughout the entire process. Booking a day and time was simple and they were very flexible even when we needed to make a last minute schedule change. The quality of the escape rooms is second to none. Wow, what a great experience. These clever owners took their surroundings, namely, the most historic square mile in the country, and created an escape room theme in perfect alignment with the historical aspects of the area. We played Quest for Freedom and had a blast.The building we entered was at least 150 years old and had quaintness and charm oozing out of the walls. Located at 2nd and Chestnut,Highly recommended for larger, less experienced groups or smaller Escape Enthusiast groups.

My mom, sister and niece (8 years old) had an awesome time at Olde City Escape Games! This was our second time going so weve played both games they currently have; theyre very different but both very engaging and super fun! What activity can you say is equally fun for an 8 year old and a 73 year old? The games are very creative and have very cool themes. Excited for them to open their third game too. Well definitely be back again! I highly recommend this for anyone looking for a fun activity with friends or family, whether youre local or in from out of town!

I have tried two of the escape rooms and I was pleasantly surprised by how the puzzles and tasks varied between the different themes. They definitely make sure you have a good time and I am impressed by the craft and creativity they put into the overall story-line and design. I would not hesitate to come back again. Lots of fun!

We had a blast doing the Ben Franklin escape room. There were 4 of us- 2 adults, a 16 yo and a 12 yo. The kids were so into it and we were all very impressed with the mechanics of some of the puzzles. There are several delightful surprises! The puzzles are varying in degree of difficulty and when we were stumped we got a couple of gentle nudges that were not total giveaways, but rather simple clues that led us to the next step of solving it ourselves. This game is incredibly creative and full of fun details. The owner was great to chat with when we were done. Hands down the best escape room we have ever seen.

We did the Midnighters and the game was really well done! We got out with 9 minutes remaining. Overall a really fun puzzle that was both challenging and fun. Lots of great surprises.A couple criticisms (why I didnt give a full 5 stars). We couldnt see the countdown clock the entire time we were in there, it would only show up every 10 minutes, I found this frustrating because I dont like to ask for clues unless Ive been stuck on a puzzle for a certain amount of time. And I couldnt tell how much time went by. Our cluemaster was less than enthusiastic as well, she didnt seem excited wed made it out and didnt really answer my questions I had about the puzzle after the game.In the end it was a fun original game that had lots of puzzles I hadnt seen anything like before!

This was my first Escape the Room Experience and I loved it. I was a little nervous, because I didnt know what to expect and I was going to be locked in a room! I had a great time, the puzzles were fun & challenging, but also do-able with a little critical thinking. What a fun way to spend an hour with friends, family or colleagues. The owners are really great and you can tell that a lot of time and care was put into making this Escape the room original, creative and fun! I did The Midnighters theme and am looking forward to going back for the other rooms. Definitely worth it! Have fun!

Being from out of town, we enjoyed the Philly-themed rooms. Highly recommend. It’s a small biz too, so your money goes to good local people.

We had a lot of fun, this was our first experience and everything was super smooth. We booked on-line and got started as soon as we arrived to the building. Once in the room, time went by fast but we were engaged and having fun the entire way. Our guide was real friendly and professional. I recommend this escape room to anyone visiting Philly or local.

You cant go wrong with spending your evening at Olde City! Spent my birthday evening with a bunch of friends. We did both escape rooms and were blown away by the storyline and challenge in putting together the clues. Couldnt stop talking about escape rooms the whole evening lol! Both rooms are so different, but yet still leave you with the same outcome...A GREAT TIME. We will definitely be making a return pit stop when the new room is available. The staff also did an amazing job entertaining our questions about the escape room industry!

And it was an added bonus that both of our game masters were helpful & kept us interested in each game. I would highly recommend this place !!

I was in Philly this weekend with my girlfriend and she likes doing escape rooms. I like american history so a Ben Franklin spy theme was right up my alley. Its a pretty good escape room that not ridiculously difficult to solve, we have done a few that were. The two running it were very enthusiastic about it which was nice. They were more than willing to nudge you in the right direction, they want customers to have fun and not get overly frustrated with the room. I say if youre in Philly and like escape rooms, you should stop by.

Just got out of solving their Benjamin Franklin room, awesome experience. 10/10 will do again. Really well done with fun surprises. The owners are really cool people and enjoy having their customers having fun. Highly recommend it.

This was my first time experiencing the escape games. Definitely take someone with you because the game is timed and there is a lot of artifacts hidden. We experienced the midnighters room. All I have to say is awesome, awesome, awesome... We finished with 3mins. leftover, but we finished. Its exciting, fun and your adrenaline is over the top playing the games. I will be back in two weeks for another game.

Had a great time playing The Midnighters! Our group got paired with another couple and had a blast! Great puzzles, fun story, and nice set up. The puzzles were linear, but there was enough that everyone could be working on something different at the same time. Definitely want to go back and try Quest for Freedom!

We had the opportunity to drop in during PaxU. Four of us are regular escape room visitors as well as board gamers, and we found The Midnighters to be clever, well paced, and just challenging enough to keep us on our toes. Very fair difficulty, excellent puzzle design, and great decor both in the rooms and the lobby. Having completed more than two dozen escape rooms, these were definitely some of my favorites!

Best hour you can spend with friends in Philly . Owners are fantastic. Location is great with bars and restaurants close by to make a full night out on the town. The escape rooms are so well done. Phew! Been to a few escape games. This place is awesome - lightyears better than the chain escape rooms. Fun, funny, challenging, with surprises and legit scary moments (I screamed). The Midnighters room was beautiful and had actual Philadelphia history woven into the story. The amount of thought that went into the details is amazing. Definitely coming back.

Extremely well designed escape room with a story that is twisted puzzling and adventurous. A very in movie like experience that made you feel like your part of the storyline. Definitely would recommend if your trying to put your problem solving skills to the test. Absolutely will be coming back to try the A Quest for Freedom puzzle.

Olde City Escape Games was my first escape the room experience- I am so happy that it was. I went with my family and we had such a fantastic time solving the A Quest for Freedom puzzle. The room offered a unique, fun experience that I know I wont find at any other escape the room place. Every detail was well thought out, done fantastically, and really fits the character of Philadelphia. When either I, or someone in our group, solved one of the pieces of the puzzle, it was very rewarding. We were able to escape the room as well! I cannot recommend this place enough if youre in the area looking for something exciting to do in the heart of Olde City, blocks away from the rich history Philadelphia has to offer. I am very much looking forward to what they do in the future!

As an escape enthusiast who has played 212 games, The Midnighters is in my top 10, and for good reason. The scenic value of the space is incredible, giving off the vibe of being in a legitimate boxing area with far more surprises than one would expect. The puzzles were similarly excellent, uniquely combining brilliant tactical interactions with puzzling beyond original, creating a perfectly challenging and balanced room. The technology is so well hidden you will never even see its there until you watch the space transform in ways that are cinematic and unforgettable. For one of the few times throughout my escape experience, I felt as though I was in my own private film, exploring and unraveling a very real mystery presented before me. The game mastering was excellent as well, and the owners are some of the nicest I have seen. I could not recommend this company more for all players, beginners or experts, old and young.

I recently visited this is escape room as I was looking forward to do a nice challenging escape room but not two hard. The staff quickly engaged in a nice conversation with me and made me feel at home with my costriphobia it was fun for all ages even a 6 year old. This was one of the best experiences ever

I go to escape rooms pretty frequently. This is my first time away olde city escape room. My 2 friends and I escaped the midnighters boxing room. Overall, the room was a lot of fun. The only thing that I would have wanted is for the outdoors puzzles to be a little more difficult. The build of the room and technology used was very cool, but it was fairly straightforward, save one or two puzzles.Definitely recommend for first timers and I will be back when they get more rooms.Also, would appreciate if they kept a tracker of record times for each room.

The venue itself is decorated well and fits an escape room feel as you travel up to the floor for Olde City Escape Games. Our group of four experienced The Midnighters and had a blast. Olde City Escape Rooms has gotten my group of friends and me HOOKED! We talked about the games for the rest of the night so that we could continue to relive the magic even while we were out drinking and celebrating a friend’s bday. Our experience there was definitely the highlight of the trip for me. We originally booked tickets for the Midnighters game and had so much fun that we booked their other game immediately for the next available slot upon escaping with the mysterious moon rock. Both were so well designed with fun and thought-provoking puzzles and you could tell the owners were really dedicated to crafting intriguing, thought-provoking, in addition to well-designed decor and clues to provide guests with a unique experience. We can’t wait to plan our next trip to Philly to experience their next game 2084. This place is definitely a can’t miss!

This escape room had just the right amount of challenge that was very satisfying...not too easy but not too difficult. It had the right amount of technology and not just locks and keys and the theme was very engaging. You wont be disappointed doing this one, especially if youre a tourist to Philly.

My family of 6 did the Quest for Freedom. We enjoyed the fact that there was a nice balance of puzzles, locks, word play, item movement and plot. The staff was really friendly and helpful, but not overbearing. We got hints as needed. Very well done and we will definitely go back to do the other room soon.

After much back and forth debate about if an escape room would be fun hubby and I decided to give it a go. Wow! The room was amazingly detailed. The puzzles were well thought out and metally demanding enough to hold the entire groups attention. So glad we gave it a chance and cant wait to come back once the new room is finished and try a new set of puzzles!

I went here tonight with all of my employees (all our first time doing an escape game) and we were totally blown away. The complexity and top tier design of the games was well received - all the decor was very cool and authentic. The hosts were very cool and really talked us through the game before and after and helped out during the game when we needed it.

We had a private room escape with our family, due to the time of day and Labor Day weekend, which made it an amazing experience. We did the Quest for Freedom, and the designers made sure we had a good time. We made it with about 6 minutes to spare. This was my first room escape, and not only would I do another one, I wouldnt hesitate coming back here and trying one of their other rooms.

Weve done a lot of escape rooms and Olde City has some of the best rooms in the area. Midnighters was fantastic! Id recommend it to anyone, from a first time player to experienced enthusiasts. Freedom was also a lot of fun, fitting with the historic area. Id also recommend this room. These were our favorite rooms in Philly. Great combination of tech and physical puzzles. Brooks was helpful and a great game master. I will definitely return when their new room opens. This should be your first stop for escape rooms in Philadelphia.

Having done only Halloween themed escape rooms before, I didnt know what to expect from Olde City Escape Games historical spin. I was completely blown away. These guys have done their research and really did an incredible job from the interior design, puzzles, and theme. It was challenging, smart, fun, and exciting! My bf and I, along with two other friends did the Ben Franklin escape room on a Friday night after searching for escape rooms in the city. We had a mixed group of escape room experience and first timers. First, this place was affordable and the location was perfect as it was near restaurants, bars and museums in historic Old City. The Ben Franklin room interior felt authentic and no detail left undone. Through out the game we constantly felt surprised and challenged by the clues and puzzles that kept us feeling like we where on an adventure. The clues and puzzles where challenging and clever,but didnt take a rocket scientist to get through them. I recommend Olde City Escape Games for friends, family and groups of 2-8 people. We had 4 on our team and felt like it was perfect. Hope to go again and try the other rooms they have!

I truly enjoyed my 1st time experience at Olde City Escape Games. If I can be frank, when I heard about this game I thought to myself what am I getting myself into. Once my colleague explained to me it’s a fun, challenging and it has one thinking outside the box game. I was more at ease. What was key, my colleague said to me and my other colleagues don’t look at things the way they are. I took that saying and ran with it along with remaining positive of not QUITTING. This is definitely a game that consist of thinking outside the box. It definitely challenged my intellect. I will wholeheartedly suggest this game to my family and friends. The escape rooms that they have are well thought out and you can tell that a lot of effort was put into each and every detail! By far the best escape room I have ever been to. I would recommend everyone to go!
