So much fun! We had a group of 5 and we all had a blast (even the one person who was not excited about doing it). The staff was very friendly and having music from the 80s as some of the clues was a fun element. Knowing the 80s references might have helped us get a couple clues faster, but it is not necessary to be successful in the game. As an added bonus there are coupons hidden for free beer and snacks. Highly recommend!!

It was a really awesome 1980’s themed Escape Room. You do not need to have knowledge of the 1980’s to complete the puzzles, just a clever mind. The staff was incredibly nice, they had really cool retro items for sale in their store and you can win coupons for some cool treats at the food court in the same building. It was unbelievably fun.

Our first escape room and we had a really great time. Really creative room that perfectly synthesizes (lol) 80s nostalgia with an escape room game. Highly recommended for first-timers or those that grew up in the 80s/90s. Not extremely difficult, but also definitely not easy. We had a group of ladies join us and they pretty much saved the day. Go try it out, you wont be disappointed.

I went here with my family for my little brother’s 16th birthday & it was toooo fun! It was waaaaaaay easier than a lot of escape rooms I’ve been to. The worker was awesome! The music playing is from the 80’s & it gave us a lot of clues! I got to use a VCR which was so funny! It had a lot of old games from the 80’s. We got to play the Atari which was sooo hard! At the end, you got to dress up with clothes from the 80’s! I really loved this escape room! We did escape from all 4 rooms!

This was absolutely a blast. My family and I were the only ones booked for our time slot so we got to do the rooms alone. Our children are 12, 10 and 4 and it was fun for every single one of us. My 4 year old even got one of the clues himself and got us to the next room! The staff is hilarious and made it even MORE FUN on top of us bumbling and stumbling around laughing to get the clues. It is truly a great time, and if they maybe change the room and clues around from time to time or something (which I plan to find out) then we will go again! We really had a great time, I HIGHLY recommend!

We all had an awesome time escaping the 80s! Everything from the nostalgic movies to the music playing with clues throughout were cleverly done. It was also really nice that you could find golden tickets to get free food and drink in the Bourse. We found one for a free beer, cocktail, and a chicken & waffles meal. Im looking forward to trying out the other escape room Steel Owl runs at the Franklin Institute.

I am a fan of escape rooms in general; I love the change of scenery from just going to the local bars, to actually interacting & playing a game with friends. Escape the 1980s was certainly my favorite escape room experience to date! The staff was friendly, funny and accommodating. Authentic props & decor really took us back in time. I have to admit I enjoyed laughing at my friend in her early 20s try to figure out how a VHS player even works (sorry if youre reading this Em). Further proving- You didnt need to live through the 80s to enjoy the game, but if you are familiar with 80s culture, it certainly helps and fills your heart with nostalgia.

Love this escape room! There were two of us and we completed it in almost an hour. Lots of fun, great memorabilia, and just challenging enough. You dont need to know the 80s to figure out the clues, but the memorabilia is great if you remember it. Highly recommend. Tip, dont drink too much before you go. A buzz is ok, but you do want to escape the room, so dont go drunk.

My first escape room, and I am glad we picked it for our group! I do realize some people will say the puzzles were not deep brain teasers, but when you are being timed, and there is so much to do, there is a great sense of relief in knowing something you have is useful information. Even with this feeling, some steps took us time to figure out, but because we never had a situation where we were frustrated, it made the experience amazing. To the owners, if you are not already, I recommend recording groups doing the room from now on, so in the distant future when you decide to retire the setup, maybe in favor of a new idea, you can have all the highlight footage of previous attempts to share. I know that could make for some entertaining viewing.

This is a 1980s theme Escape Room interactive game that was a total blast! Hosts were very friendly, funny and helpful. Our family of 5 adults teamed up with another group of 5, working to escape the time warp which sent us back to a 1980s mini-mall. Clues and puzzles were really innovative! You have to pay attention to everything you see and hear, and be inventive to complete the game (in 60 minutes), but its not TOO hard. This escape is very creative and detailed, including lots of items, music, clothes, etc. from that time period. It was BIG FUN to do and gave us a great blast from the past. Best escape the room event Ive done so far. The detail and time these people have put into this is amazing. Its not just an opening drawers and finding keys kind of event, but a real journey through the 80s culture and technology. My team and I were brainstorming some ideas for a team-building exercise. The 1980s Escape the Room came up, and it was an obvious choice for us. Working for a small company ourselves, it is also important to me to support other small businesses when I can. We had no idea what to expect before we got there, but as soon as we walked in we knew we would have a BLAST. As a new team, it was important for us to learn about each other, have fun, work together (outside of the work setting), and get comfortable with each other. Escape the 80s definitely helped us do this, and much more. We will be talking about this experience for all of the days that we will be working together. Other departments in our company will NEVER beat our team-building experience! I cant wait to do it again with friends and family. Thank you for allowing us to be human with each other. ️

Very clever. You dont have to, but Id recommend going with a big group. There were 14 of us, so we booked it as a private event. Its true you dont need to know any 80s trivia to solve the clues or have fun with this, but if you grew up in the 80s, you will love this even more. It was like stepping into a time machine. I have done over a dozen Escape rooms in the past year, so take my review as a true indication of Escape the 80s, and not just praise of the escape game concept. This is a wonderful experience, and the owners of this room should be proud. As a seasoned escape player I would highly recommend it for these reasons: the unique ways players interact with the room, the use of time as currency, and the general playfulness of the staff during the game make this a wonderful experience. Everyone should try this one!The only reason I give it a 4/5 is that some (a small few) of the puzzles themselves dont feel like brain teasers, they feel more like a treasure hunt for the next set of instructions. This is a nitpick, but the waiting room with all the board games in it should be closed off once the game starts; part of the joy of escaping comes from that small bit of claustrophobia. Having to ignore that giant space makes it feel a little off.TL:DRWhile the puzzles are sometimes too simple, the atmosphere and playfulness of the room far outweigh any shortcomings. This is one of the best Escapes you can find in Philly.P.S. Cant wait to return for the 90s. And give Raichu a raise, shes doing a hell of a good job!

Having done several, I can say that Escape the 1980s is by far the best one Ive experienced yet.To tell you any real details would be to rob you of the immense joy youd experience by visiting yourself. I will say that what really set this room apart is that the people who operate it are clearly participating as you go, providing clues and guidance remotely in a very unique and awesome way. Besides simply being a super clever, well thought-out and well paced puzzle set, this element of interaction pushed the experience over the top in terms of awesomeness. So dont barf me out by not going, dude. It was super easy to play and each part of the game was amusing and challenging at the same time. It was totally something Ive been missing in my life :-)

Ive done a few escape rooms and this one is hands down the best! There are a few rooms and several types of locks that you have to open in order to succeed which is unlike any other room Ive done. The music and atmosphere added to the experience and really brought me back to my childhood!

I went into this room escape for my 30th birthday quite literally blind, and I had no idea where the party was going to be. So you can imagine my surprise when we arrived at the time warp that is Escape the 80s.A fantastic experience awaits you behind every door as you, and your friends try to return to the modern day. From the friendly confines of your local VHS store to a family room filled with toys. To those unsure if they are up to the challenge I have just one question. Can YOU escape the 80s?

This was the best escape room I have done so far. The folks that run it really work to make the experience great!
