Grassy Flats sets the standard for hospitality!My family and I stayed in the Rhum House and a two bedroom suite over the weekend, and had an amazing experience. Customer service was above and beyond beginning with the phone call to book and only got better throughout the trip.The location was everything we expected and more. Absolutely amazing spot! Such a beautiful property with lush Florida landscaping. An awesome clean pool overlooking Oceanside with an actual sweet beach. All the staff is so accommodating and friendly you feel very at home. The rooms are super clean and airy. Beautiful balconies out of every room open to the sea breeze and all the rooms have a view no matter where you are. The tiki bar is super fun. This place jams. Ten out of ten. Oh and they have the cutest Bahamas rescue kitties that hang at the beach!

Too many rules. We were not even there 3 hours before the owner was telling us we can’t have music on the dock or at the pool. The music was low and we were a group listening to music on the dock. Then he follows ya to tell us we can’t bring drinks (coca cola) by the dock or the pool! Although we bought a lot of beverages at their bar, they couldn’t wait to continue telling us the rules! Will not go again.

Great location, great property, great staff. They could not have been more accommodating and kind. It’s always wonderful coming to a place that treats you like a friend. They helped my (now) fiancé plan for his proposal, and it was so perfect. We will definitely be back. Loved it, loved it, loved it.

My family and i were very pleased with this property, It was well kept clean, and run by the staff awesome. Olivia Casto was very professional and helpful, Maintenance technicians were great fixing a problem with the refrigerator very swiftly when we first arrived. suite was spacious, very clean, and very comfortable with a great view of the ocean. Pool and bar area on the beach was very relaxing. Family and i feel we hit a home run finding this property! Well Be Back!!

Liv was the most accommodating staff member I’ve ever dealt with. She worked with us to make our stay the most perfect. Usually we don’t like to stay at the same place twice but we know without a doubt this will be our place. The vibe, the comfort, the water, the pool was perfect, tiki bar was awesome and met some new friends and locals there. Without a doubt our most favorite place to stay.

Grassy Flats is the perfect resort if you’re looking for a smaller, quieter, more secluded place to stay. Very clean room and grounds with its own tiki bar. Super close to the water, so every room has a good ocean view. If you’d like to separate the crowds of key west from your relaxation time, then come here to this hidden gem.

Its the best hotel in the Keys. This hotel was just redone so everything is new. Its not like 99% of hotels in the Keys that are old and smelly. This place has beautiful spacious rooms with central A/C, jacuzzi bath tub, and new modern kitchens. Every room has balconies faces the ocean. There is a nice size swimming pool. Tiki bar and good size beach. Its perfect spot for watersports. Im a kiteboarder and this perfect spot to learn the sport. 5 min from hotel there is a cable park where you can polish your kite or wakeboarding skills.Love this place.

Booking was easy with Taylor. The whole staff (Matt, TK, Joe, and others) went out of there way to ensure we had a great time and could take advantage of their amenities like SUP’s, kayaks, etc. It’s like having your own concierge to the Keys. Nice, modern rooms that were clean and had everything you could want in them. Great ocean view. Pet friendly. They have lots of plans for even more improvement and can’t wait to see what they do. Will certainly come back for our next Keys vacation.

Great place to stay, new owners its amazing on the beach, pool, kite paddle, chill...its all there!

It is a very cozy place, everything is new and very clean. People are very friendly and willing to help. The girl in the front desk was very friendly and gave us all the necessary information. I recommend this beautiful place if you want to relax and have a nice time. Although they dont have a restaurant, they have a kitchen equipped with everything you need, if you dont want to cook you can eat at the nearby places. I recommend it as one of the quietest, cleanest and most welcoming places I have visited in the keys.

Grassy FlatsWe stayed at Grassy Flats Marathon over the month of February and rented the rhumhouse on the beach. What a delightful sight, waking up to see the ocean at our feet from our balcony, it was such a treat. All four bedrooms have king size beds and spacious dressing rooms. One of the biggest showers Ive ever seen in one of the bathrooms. The open kitchen and living area are sized to cater to large families, as there was 10 of us and we had meals inside and outside on the porch. We had easy access to the pool and cozy tiki bar, where they mix drinks with fruits picked from the garden. The beach and shallow water is perfect for children. The owners are always around and the staff is friendly and happy to help with anything you might need. I recommend this place 100%.

We highly recommend staying at this resort when visiting the Keys. We booked several months in advance of our trip and found out a week before our stay that due to circumstances beyond the owners control we could not stay in the room originally booked. They went above and beyond to make our vacation a wonderful experience. They set us up for several nights at a hotel in Key West and we were able to spend the remainder of our vacation at Grassy Flats. All of this was done at no additional cost to us. Everything about our stay was exceptional from the room, staff, tiki bar, and beautiful view. We really appreciated the laid back atmosphere and plan to stay here the next time we visit the Keys.

Our suite of rooms was spacious with wonderful decks facing the beach. The pool was great and we played croquet. The kitchen had everything we needed. We would love to return.

Great atmosphere. Owner and staff were very friendly and engaged in making sure guests were taken care of. Pool, outdoor bar and space was inviting. Location is very accommodating to water sports. Sunrise view was spectacular. Beds could have been a little more comfortable. I would book here again.

Everything about this resort was amazing! Check in was smooth and they offer a complimentary check in cocktail which was a nice touch. We had a group of over 30 guys and the accommodations were spectacular. Beautiful beach views from every room and the beach is a 2 minute walk from anywhere on the property. The staff was friendly, attentive and courteous at all times and I would highly recommend this resort to anyone thinking about staying in marathon

Amazing stay at Grassy Flats! The staff was incredibly friendly and the property is beautiful. The two bedroom rooms are very comfortable and have an amazing view of the beach and pool.

Grassy was excellent because you can watch the sunrise over the ocean with coffee on your private balcony and watch the sunset from a paddleboard in the flat water in front of the resort. I love that the owner is around and making sure everything runs smoothly, you can tell he cares a lot for every aspect of the property and the guest experience. Because the owner is cool, it makes sense that he has high-quality conscientious staff. When we arrived we didnt really have a plan for activities Matt and the staff made sure we stayed busy and made the most of our time in the Keys. There were a couple of little things I wish were better, like I would prefer a non-stick frypan so it is easier to cook eggs in the morning. That might be my only complaint. But once Im reading in the pool with a fresh mint mojito, I could care less about a sticky pan! I will definitely stay there again. Thanks Grassy

Our stay was great. We stayed Feb 15 - 19 2020. Loved our accommodations our stay was pleasant, staff friendly, helpful and accommodating. Loved the Tiki bar and pool. Looking forward to returning for a longer stay and To the restaurant being open.

The rooms were super clean and the bedding was very comfortable. Our kitchen was fully kitted with everything we needed to self cater. The views are perfect and the pool is comfortable to spend all day in while sipping on the best cocktails! Fly a kite, sail a hobie or paddle a SUP. So many activities! We had the best time, thank you to everyone involved

Wonderful place! Loved the location away from the more crowded area of the keys. It was our first trip, but I would definitely go back! The owners were so nice and made sure we had everything we needed for a great stay.

We checked into room late afternoon and the place looked nice but the smell from the Seaweed was horrible. Guest service was ok not informative at all. Was charged a resort fee of $25 we didn’t now about. We were given a 3rd story room. No elevators so you have to carry heavy luggage up two flights of stairs. The units was very nice clean and comfortable. We left our luggage and headed to Key West. It about an hour drive with no traffic. When we returned to The resort around 11pm we found that our door would not stay locked. The latch would not secure the door. And the dead bolt would not engage either. With pressure the door would pop open. Anyone could pull the door open from the outside. We discovered it never was locked when we had left earlier either. We just thought it was locked because knob was locked from turning but it definitely would have opened if pulled on. We contacted office a little after 11pm and they have no after hours numbers to contact if there are any problems. We did not feel safe and did not sleep much because of this. The office never returned our message that we left either that night or the next morning. We got up early and left before office was open and we were given no checkout instructions at time of arrival. There was no drop box for keys to be left so we left them in unit. Still have not heard from the property about the issues. We called the front office to tell them we left keys and the problem we had.

We stayed at the Rhum house with four families...all of which had children. The house was exceptionally clean and spacious, and that shower was amazing! Even more so, were the views from the common area and bedrooms. At times, we almost felt like we were on a houseboat! My friends and family were thoroughly impressed and the staff was amazing too.

Very nice hotel. Immaculate and spacious. We felt welcome from the moment we arrived until we checked out. The owner even texted us to make sure we had everything we needed. This place understands what customer service is. And the view was spectacular. I would highly recommend staying here.

I had the pleasure of staying here when they first opened and met the owner who educated my fiancé and I all about the Florida Keys, the ecosystem and of course rum. I typically visit the middle and lower FL Keys for work and now I always make sure to stay at this lovely resort. It’s a true homage to old Florida aesthetics while also maintaining an environmentally centered business. The staff is very knowledgeable, friendly and always willing to help! It was so nice to hang out at a resort and leave knowing that even though I was relaxing I did my part to not be as wasteful. Enjoy your stay — I’ll see you at the bar where all the cocktails are phenomenal!

I love this place! We stay there on our way to Key West and planning on going everytime we are in Keys. It exceeded our expectations. We came in with our daughters and they had such a good time at the pool. It was relaxing and the staff were very laid back and welcoming. This place is wonderful for anyone on their way to visit Key West, make a stop here at Grassy Key for a unique experience.

We stayed in the Family house. It Was wonderful to have our own space to go to at night and still be able to wake up to our family and Friends all in 1 place in the Morning. The Views are amazing and the Amenities were perfect for our vacation needs. I look forward to our next stay. Lincolns Mom

Booked this “resort” thinking I could hang out in our balcony overlooking the water with a cold drink and a book. Or sleep in then do water activities in the afternoon. Sad to say neither happened. Not the fault of the resort but the seaweed situation in the Keys was out of control, not only was it an eyesore but it made the whole place smell like ass. My gripe about this tho, having read about the seaweed situation, was when I called 2 days prior to check in to ask about whether the beach is out of commission because of the seaweed, I was told “well, the beach is just shallow, but you can still do activities”. There was no mention of the stench emanating from this. We considered cancelling our reservation but then we would have to pay for one night at double the price. We finally checked in and when we finally got settled to go sleep guess what we found on our bed at 10pm? Bugs. I am not a bug expert but the hotel claimed the next morning they were not bed bugs but still nobody wants to sleep in a bed with bugs - bed bugs or not. The hotel offered to move us to a different room or have them take care of the situation. We opted for the latter. Big mistake - bugs were still there when we got back and they didnt even change the sheets (we know because we killed one of the crawlies the night prior and it was still there. At this point I am in tears- all we wanted was to have a vacation. They gave us a free night but damage has been done.

Grassy Flats was wonderful for our family vacation, beautiful view and incredible property. The entire staff was incredible, very friendly and helpful. We really enjoyed our stay and will definitely be returning!

Super comfortable space, large kitchen fully stocked with cookware, really clean guest space & well maintained property with beautiful/updated furnishings! The outdoor bar is quite the sight with a really cool backstory & the staff was very friendly & professional.

This resort is awesome!The staff is great and really accommodating. First, you see a very hard working grounds crew every day. The place is kept up impeccably. Second, all people are friendly and really easy to talk to.The rooms are clean and updated and very spacious. I had my wife and two, three year old kids and we had no problem in our room. We had a king bed and brought an air mattress for the two kids. Plenty of room in the bedroom for both beds.The resort itself is great. The pool and bar area are perfect. There is a huge portion of the pool that is 6 deep and perfect for kids. The fencing is very nice and the grassy area is kept up well. Plenty of parking as well.I would have given a perfect five stars for location; however, the grassy key does not have the perfect beaches you may find in other keys. That being said, the resort raked and cleaned up the beach every day we were there. However there was still a noticeable smell from the seaweed and other ocean plant life that surrounds this key. The location is on a busy road, but overall it felt quiet and relaxed. No other beach goers around and very quiet evenings if you are into a secluded location.Overall, I would absolutely come back to this location.

Grassy Flats Resort was a great place to stay in the keys. The amenities are amazing the pool right in front of the ocean and the apartments are great for families and larger groups. Just 1hr away from Key West is a very good option to stay and enjoy a calm getaway. Totally recommend it!

Staff were very friendly and down to earth, great location, good rooms and amenities, pool, bar. The only negative was sargasso weed had clogged up the beach, not owners fault, kind of smelled.

Horrible dead grass smell smelled like poop, so strong we almost lefty without staying the full time, strange beach club 50 dollar fee supposed to keep the cost of drinks down, never saw that. wasted weekend had to stay away from our room because of the stink. ac just pumped more stink into the room, no cancellation option, stay away from this craphole. literally.

I cannot say enough good things about this place. I came down with three friends for a week long getaway and was pleasantly surprised with Grassy Flats. The plan was to do some diving, fishing, water sports and relaxing. And we accomplished all in comfort and style!As we checked in we were greeted with warm smiles and immediately felt like family. We could tell right away this wasn’t your normal chain hotel. We were given the keys to our room and some local insight of the area.As I entered the room I was blown away. The room was immaculate, smelled amazing, and looked brand new. The decor was spot on for setting a relaxing mood while on holiday. The view from the balcony was breathtaking overlooking the pool and Atlantic Ocean. The kitchen was nicer than any I have ever seen in a hotel with granite countertops and soft close cabinets. I was ready to move in.The pool and tiki bar in this place became my favorite spot. I cannot begin to describe how gorgeous the bar is. The drinks were amazing, lounge chairs comfortable, and had ample shade from umbrellas. The pool has a very large super shallow chill area that leads to the deeper end.The staff gave us recommendations for fishing charters, restaurants, and other fun activities in the area. I loved the boating but my favorite was the Keys Cable Park which was just a few blocks down the road. I am now hooked on the cable park. The place was amazing fun for everyone. I saw kids as young as six and grown men over 50 all enjoying water sports in a unique setting. We even got to challenge each other to some axe throwing. A must try.I do recommend if you plan to fish call ahead and reserve your charter early.I would give Grassy Flats 6 stars if I could. My friends and I agree we have found our new go to spot for vacations.

I came to Grassy Flats to vacation and relax but left with a larger appreciation for the Keys and so much more. This resort is owned by an awesome group of friends and family who all believe in running this hotel with eco friendly practices. The resort’s private beach unlike many key’s beaches has smooth white sand and a lush garden steps away to wander. The suites are large and include full kitchens which is amazing i could cook and stick to my diet. This resort is all around great place and I highly recommend.

We couldn’t stay never checked in . The odor from the rotting sea grass that covered the sandy beach and water area was overwhelming . (This is hazardous to anyone with breathing issues or allergies)we went in side to discuss this with the manager FrankAnd he said he was sorry for me but he was charging my visa for my 5 night stay anywayI offered to pay for one night and told him I felt bad for him and his business that I knew this issue was crippling . He was very arrogant . 0 people outside at this resort, nothing was being done to clean up the beach, only Frank and a young lady behind the desk were on site no one in the pool or pool tiki bar no visible guests in the entire place . Beware
