I had an amazing time tasting the wonderful spirits produced here. My favourite was the wheat bourbon, but they are all pretty good. We took a tour with one of the founders, which was so awesome. Ill be back again for more sipping goodness soon!

KO is a wonderful and perhaps undiscovered Gem right in many of our backyards! Very friendly (I know, in NoVA?) and knowledgeable staff could not be more helpful and welcoming - they make both a super-tasty Bourbon and an even more fun Navy Gin (114 proof so kinda sip it) - will be back in Oct to pick up some of the Bourbon (too warm to drink it now). Bottom Line: You owe yourself a visit to these great folks.

I absolutely love the fact that these craft spirits are made in Virginia! The wheat whiskey is my favorite, and the bourbon follows a close second (or tie for first!) Its wonderful that they are now making hand sanitizer for pickup in Virginia as well.

Support local... Bourbon Whiskey! Having visited much of the Bourbon Trail stops in Kentucky, we were just expecting a small distillery operation with a local brewery/distillery feel and that it exactly what we got!On their website, it seems that they only offer two flights of the same spirits, one being cocktails. However, we were excited that they also offer one of just their single barrel whiskey offerings. This flight includes single barrel (3) tastings of their wheat, bourbon (corn), and rye whiskeys as well as (3) tastings of their cask strength single barrel varieties. The cocktail tasting is perfect for us to bring our wives next time who did not enjoy their bourbon tastings during our Bourbon Trail... dont worry, we did not let it go to waste :)[Short whiskey background]Small batch whiskeys are a blend of 2-4 barrels to produce a master distillers intended profile. A single barrel whiskey is generally from the lower section (slow aging) of a rickhouse and provide a more distinct/flavorful profile. Both small batches and single barrels are slightly diluted with water, however cask strength whiskeys are not. Whether cask strength (small batch or single barrel), these whiskeys pack a spicier punch at around 115+ proof, while having a wider flavor profile. Each of the whiskeys were great, but our favorites were their Single Barrel Rye, Single Barrel Bourbon, and the Single Barrel Cask Strength Rye.Their staff were very friendly and everyone was decked out in Christmas cheer (early December)... so tell your wife you have a Christmas event planned (including sipping the devils nectar) and stop here!KO Distillery is known for their Bare Knuckle whiskeys. We have had the opportunity to try their wheat whiskey at Jack Rose (largest whiskey selection in Western Hemisphere) and each of their small batch whiskeys at the annual “Beer, Bourbon, BBQ” festival in Leesburg, VA. KO has their bottles avaliable for sale in their distillery store with a much larger selection than Virginia ABC stores. Also, their single barrel bottles were autographed by the staff behind their bourbon, very cool!We did not attend one of their tours (2-3 occured while we sat at the bar), but we plan to be back to support this local distillery!

Attended the Kentucky Derby event today! Great turn out, the place was filled even with the rain. The staff was so friendly and wore nametags that made it feel like we knew them. The cocktails were tasty and great examples of what KO can do with their product! We definitely wanted to make our own at home afterwards. Popcorn Monkey snacks paired well while watching the race. We can’t wait to go back very soon when we have more time to tour and ask questions during a full flight while it’s less crowded.

Nice tasting room. Nice staff. All the whiskeys I tried were kinda gross. To my palate, they somehow taste like cheap/bad scotch.......not good American whiskey/bourbon. But the gins were actually really good.

Appreciate their story and use of local ingredients. I’m from DC and need very little in excuses to visit KO for a tour on a free afternoon, maybe after a walk through Bull Run for a quick history lesson. The American rye adds an essential folklore to my personal bar. Almost like I poured it from the neighbor’s barrel myself.

This place has the best tasting gin and whiskey hands down!I wish I could give this place 6 stars because the staffs integrity and the staff making customers feel like home;E.g. 1) Larry mentioned the about Groupon before we toured.2) The cash register mentioned their Black Friday sale when we bought a bottle.3) At our sampling, Larry was patient with us explaining while we tasted slowly.4) Larry is knowledgable because hes a chemist.

Great cocktail tasting with fun miniature flights. My fiancee went with the straight neat tasting, while I chose the more adventurous mini cocktail flight. Instead of having the difficulty of choosing only a couple of cocktails from a long list, I really like how KO offers a tasting of its gin, moonshine, bourbon, rye, and straight whiskey with accompanying juices (i love the homemade blackberry juice!). Its nice to not have to wrestle on which drink to get - you get to try them all!Its nice to get a taste of the spirit neat and then try it with a juice for a balanced flavor. Although I enjoyed the spirits, the homemade juices really stood out to me and complemented the spirits. My favorites were the pear chai lemonade with barrel finished gin, homemade blackberry juice with gin, honey ginger ale with rye whiskey, and pear shrub apple cider with bourbon whiskey. The tartness and sweetness of the juices provided great flavor to the spirits. I wasnt a big fan of the Arnold Palmer and regular lemonade, they were a bit too sweet for me.In addition to the variety of juices in the tasting, I really enjoyed how the tasting was done at my own pace. The bartender kindly brought over 2 drinks at a time to the sofa and explained each one without rushing us through. As my fiancee polished off a bottle of the Bare Knuckle bourbon, will be back to get another bottle and try out more craft cocktails!

Came here for a tasting and tour. Peter gave a great tour and tasting intro and was super knowledgeable and funny. The gin was good (coming from someone who doesnt like gin) and the whiskey and bourbon was fantastic. The staff ended up hanging out with us and chatting and joking around and it really made the day better since we were the only group there. The tasting room is comfortable and well designed and the staff makes great cocktails.

Outstanding afternoon to hang out with friends and learn about some great drinks. Larry was not only very knowledgeable about all the products but did a great job inserting personal stories and interacting with us to break it up. Highly recommend a visit for something just a little different than your standard brewery or vineyard tour. We Will be back.

Went in with the hubs today, and we are so glad we did. Had a great time, and our tour guide/spirit educator Steven was funny and personable. We had an educational fun tour, I had the cocktail tasting and my husband had the regular tasting. Everything was yummy, especially the Navy Strength Gin and Bare Knuckle Bourbon. One of the first 19 distilleries in Virginia, and they produce delicious products. Go out and give it a try, then thank me later. Cheers!

My buddy and I found this place from an article about distilleries around the DC Metro area, and this was our second distillery tour that day after we went to the George Washingtons Distillery and Gristmill in Mt. Vernon. He got the 1/2 shot samples while I opted for the cocktail tastings. While they only have 3 different alcohols to sample for now, I could not have been more impressed. Ive never enjoyed gin before, but they just may have made a gin drinker out of me. At the time, they offer an original whiskey, regular proof gin, and a Navy proof gin. They did mention to us they are almost finished with an aged whiskey theyve been working on. Their prices per bottle are extremely reasonable, about $30 for a bottle (especially considering Mt. Vernon wanted to charge $98 for a small bottle of whiskey). If your looking for a distillery tour and sampling and youre in the area, KO Distilling is definitely worth checking out.
