Love love loved this experience. Good activity in which you can do something different and still stay socially distanced!
Great safe and clean for setting up your gear.Great place to park if you plan run the Greenway
Easy access to the Greenway and to the water. There is a picnic table, trash cans, and stairs that go down into the water, making it easy to get in and out. Plenty of rocks to sit on in the water. When the dam is at its normal water release amount, the water is about knee high on an adult and not too fast moving, so it is safer for those uncomfortable with swimming. In the morning and late afternoon, a lot of the immediate water area near the stairs is in shade.
Perfect spot to launch canoes, SUPs, kayaks, and tubes. There is a good bit of parking, but can get dicey if you are there on a weekend or holiday.
This is a great place to spend the outdoors.
Great time with family. All boys. Lol Great day!!!
Seemed active. I bike by here on the greenway regularly.
The Neuse River Trail is such a great place to relax and get in touch with nature. There are so many beautiful sights. From the sound of the rushing river, the blue heron flying and fishing at the shore, and the hawks perched, looking for their dinner. I love to unwind and kick back at one of the most beautiful nature trails in Raleigh, Wake County!! A must see...
Great well kept trail and access to the water.
Wow this place is busy on a weekend! We went to let our son ride his bike some and play in the river! Thankfully we found a parking spot early. It is a great place for kids to ride bikes on a paved trail or play in the slow shallow part of the river. I will say that some of the serious bikers are a little aggressive and it could be a tad intimidating for walkers and kids, but everyone was courteous and nice. It is also a great place to launch a canoe or kayak for a float.
Kayak launch is a little steep. There is lots of parking.
Beautiful place to start a greenway ride!
Nice place to access to greenway maple space to run and the river looks pretty. Lots of fish to catch and a gorgeous view of the falls lake from the dam.
I love this place, as its usually where we start our long runs on the weekend. Its got lots of Parking, and a easily accessible spots if you bring canoe trailers and more! I reccomend this if your looking for a place to run or any place to fish, canoe, or just enjoy
It was easy to find, and though the steps down to the river are a bit uneven, the river is nice. You can fish there, and there are some good places for little kids to hang out. The people who brought their tubes or kayaks seemed to have no problem launching from the site.
Absolutely awesome. Such a gem. Coming from the West where water is rare its so nice to have so many rivers close by that run year round.
Bike trail is awesome. Canoe launchers are often in the way of bikers. Families monitor your children better on the trails i. e. Slower traffic keep to the Left
I like fishing at this point. Fishing today was good.
Really nice greenway trail. Parking can be tough on the weekends though.
Its a spot to launch a canoe; nothing extraordinary, nothing dissatisfying.
A great place to sit and connect with nature.
Nice long trail with great scenery. Gets pretty busy though!
Cant wait to fish and kayak here
Great swimming place for dogs. Mine truly has a blast.
Great location near the swimming hole below the dam.
Great starting point before you head to Capital Boulevard, or even better... the Atlantic ocean. Always easy parking. Water levels are usually low enough for wading in by foot. Theres a picnic table, parking area, and trash cans available. Great for walking, running, or biking down the relatively flat elevation greenway.
Enjoyable site to see.
If you like catching bream and sunfish this is the place for you.
Great spot to ride, walk, enjoy ur self
Easy place to lounch a canoe.
Its at a nice location just below the dam. I dont think have the stairs at the launch is the best thing, some sloped concrete would be better for launching a canoe. Having bathrooms on this side of Old Falls of the Neuse would be nice too.
Great trail to bicycle, walk, jog, whatever you like with miles of relatively flat and and wide paved trail. Beautiful path beside the Neuse river.
Great trail!
This is my favorite trail for biking in the Raleigh area.i did the full 64 mile round trip with the wife one day. Very well maintained except one bridge near the middle that needs a resurface.
Launch site for tubing down the Neuse River.
I was a friends guest and it was my first time. But I am so hooked! I had a blast and our guides treat you like family. I cant wait to go again.
Easy in for our canoe trip.
I love walking the greenway here!
The great outdoors! Very peaceful here most of the time.
Clean and well maintained.
Good for family
Nice place for fishing, has a canoe launch and lots of trails
This is a neat little area on the greenway system along the Neuse. Its just down from the dam and serves as overflow parking when the recreation area at the dam is full. It is the perfect spot to put in a kayak or some tubes to float the Neuse. Do keep in mind, the Neuse is a lazy float at best. Its slow, no rapids, and gets shallow at times depending on the dam release.
Pretty nice oaisis of peace and green...
This is a good to access the Neuse River as well as the trail that runs along it. Its a decent sized parking lot but I imagine it could fill up on a nice Saturday.
Great biking trail.
Awesome! Love the neuse river and very well maintained!!!
Very flat, well maintained and smooth trail. Perfect for pushing a stroller.
They really need to repaint the lines in the parking lot. No frills, great access to the trail.
Easy canoe launch, the river is normally pretty shallow here, one can walk all the way across it without the water going over your waist. Perfect for getting your feet wet after a rib on the adjacent Neuse River Greenway.
Parking lot will probably be closed soon today, as it is inundated. Icebergs on the Neuse are interesting, however
Watch out for the gate hours or you will be stuck. Great access to the water and nice views.
Nice, fairly level bike trail.
Flat water moving current paddle downriver, set shuttle with your bicycle on the adjoining Greenway. I use this as the takeout for the whitewater section from the tailrace dam upstream.Paddling is inherently dangerous. Take instruction from a certified instructor.
Plenty of parking to access Neuse river trail.
Great launch pad for a canoe or kayak to head down, if dam is open the water level is higher & current stronger. See Army Core of Engineers for days it is open.
Awesome for family time or with friends. Playground for kids, too.
Parking good. Not too crowded.
I really love whats being done to the Wake Forest, Raleigh area. All the new development is fantastic
Great stretch of the greenway for cyling.
Favorite place since i was a kid
Great place to ride your bike or go on the Neuse river with kayak.
THE BEST put-in on the river.
Pretty nice River. Too bad its polluted, but besides that its a great place to go.
Start your tube trip here!
Easy put in for those paddlers going downstream.
Loved this spit
Scenic!
Nice place with plenty of parking to put in your kayak
Great for fishing and just wading in the water
It was windy...!!
I wasnt here
Nice place to fish bluegill
Great trail head, beautiful..
So peaceful
Launch point for canoeing or kayaking on the Me use below Falls Dam. Parking lot is a little small for the number of visitors accessing the trail and river.
Lovely
Peaceful, flat, rustic
Very clean
Nice clean area for walking, biking, and canoeing
Beautiful
Great
Explore Raleigh uses this as our launch point for tubing!
Beautiful lcation!
