A wonderful open area preserved and turned into a public park. There is Greenway access as well as off road walking trails into the meadow and the woods, along the river. It really is a great place to get away for an easy-going outdoor afternoon.

Love the open field as well as the paved pathway to the bridge and the Neuse river trail! Took some family pictures in the field at sunset. There is a pavillion you can reserve as well. It’s fun with little kids if it’s a single stroller but if a kid is on a bike the Neuse river trail gets a bit crowded (depending on when you go).

I personally enjoy the park as just a nice nature area to relax and hang out with the family. Maybe have a picnic, listen to some music. Its a large field with a nice trail for walking or biking. If you prefer parks with more attractions then look else where.

Its pretty sparse if you are looking for playgrounds or things to entertain kids but its excellent for a big space to run around, see small wildlife, and great access to the Neuse River Greenway. It has a nice picnic shelter and public bathrooms. There is a historic farm house but we have not visited it yet. The parking area closes at night so make sure to check the park times before going.

This is a nice local park to go to. When you first enter though it just looks like a big field with a house on the far left side. But people who live here know that its actually the start of a lot of really nice trails for biking, walking, running, etc. While you can walk your pets here they must be on a leash at all times. Also please remember to pick up their poop. Thanks.

If you are looking for a track to walk, this park has a lovely loop around a field. The wide open spaces are good for kite flying on windy days, and if you just need a space to let your kids run, this will fit the bill. The park is clean and well maintained, with a nice parking lot and covered patio area for eating.

Good example of a city and surrounding towns integrating greenways, natural areas and parks to connect neighborhoods. Their efforts should be a benchmark for other towns to encourage outdoor recreation and connectivity in North Carolina.

This place is mostly used as an entry point to the Greenway, and its great for that, but it has a nice little charm all its own that if you walk the fields or even around them on the path you have a far quieter experience and much less hectic than sharing the path with all the bikes, dogs and runners. I really like this place and it is super convenient.

I love the atmosphere. There were a few patrons there but very little compared to other parks and walking trails in the area. Great opportunities to take photos due to the well manicured landscape and gardens. I wish they were open till 9pm during the summer. That way we could have caught the full sunset.

Peaceful, beautiful nature preserve with easy access to the Neuse River Greenway Trail. The Meadow Loop around the field is a nice soft trail with views of butterflies and songbirds. The ever-changing skies over the fields are some of the most spectacular in the area in my opinion, especially late in the afternoon. Great place to sit outside (or under the covered shelter) and read, paint, sketch or just enjoy nature.

One of our favorite places for an evening walk. While there, one of the park staff was checking bird nest boxes and asked us if we wanted to watch her check one that had eggs last week. Sure enough the eggs had hatched and there were 5 baby blue birds in the nest! My girls we so excited to be able to see them, it truly made their day.

This USE to be jewel for dog walkers and dog lovers. After the remodel the park do not open when it suppose to. And 30 min before the gate close youre turn around which is not posted prior to the gate closing. Ill have to find another place to walk my dogs and not have to worry about being watched like a hawk while I am walking my dogs.

This place is awesome because of the easy access to the Greenaway that runs from Falls Lake Dam to Clayton and it is 21 miles or more if I remember correctly. I enjoy the picnic benches and the bathrooms as an easy access. My only problem with the park is the lack of a water fountain. They can put bathrooms in, but not a public water fountain? I see that as strange. Other than that it is a beautiful place!

This is a great open space park. If you just want a nice peaceful place to take a walk or just relax in a grassy field, this is your park. The park includes a great 1 mile grass trail around the parks boundary, a half mile circumference open field, an old farmhouse, and access to the Raleigh Greenway system. The park is also a popular place for photographers as I routinely see families having their pictures staged and taken. The only negative, there is no running water on site; the bathrooms, are waterless and there are no water fountains. UPDATE - a water fountain was recently installed at the old farm house.UPDATE 2019: Moving to a rare five star review for me. A new 1/2 mile wooded trail has been added that starts at the old barn and meanders down to the Neuse river before finally terminating back onto the grass trail at the bottom of the meadow. If you follow this trail plus the remaining perimeter trails, youll be right at 1.25 miles per loop.

I do not like the new work they have done to the park. They also have imposed a 7:00 closing time which came as a surprise to me. Personally, I think the park should have been left the way it was. It was much more serene that way.

It was a great Park. And then construction came through. I dislike the idea that they felt the need to build over it. Half the field is taken up by a pointless circling patio. I used to ride my bike to this park, do some homework, or even hang out and enjoy the view. Worst of all they hired a staff and the park closes at 7. What kind of nonsense is this? By now its just a tourist point. This has upset me more and Im sure others. Im positive some are going to be against my opinion of the work done but in the end, you should of let history, stay history.

If you are looking for a quiet place in the heart of North Raleigh to enjoy nature, hike through wooded trails or simply fly a kite in a large open field, Horse Shoe Farm Park is the place to go. This beautiful park is tucked away down a quite, single-lane gravel road just off of US 401. The farm dates back for many years and the City of Raleigh has put out some interpretive history signs on the grounds. But what I like best is to head over there just after sunrise. In the quiet parts of the field near the horse shoe bend of the Neuse River, youll frequently find deer grazing and many other animals on the edge of the woods. The recently opened Neuse River Trail, part of the Capital Area Greenway system, connects to opposite ends of the park. The city does have plans to make the final one-mile connection in 2014 and once they do, the greenway will stretch from Falls Lake Dam to Clayton, with a beautiful trip around Horse Shoe Farm Park.
