This was one of the best hotel experiences Ive ever had. We came here to celebrate my girlfriend and is birthdays, especially after this crazy year. Britney the person who booked our room went above and beyond. She left a handwritten card that was actually very very nice, rose petals on the bed, a bottle of champagne, macaroons, and one of the best rooms in the hotel. The service was outstanding even though some services were limited they did a great job making up for it. We seriously cant wait to come back and I hope Britneys there when we do!
Very nice hotel, infinity pool is right next to the creek and views of the red rocks...the colors are spectacular. The hotel has very long corridors and feels less spa like than we expected.Service and staff very efficient and friendly.Clean rooms, but due to covid-19 we didnt allow cleaning inside the room.Lovely outdoors dining and lounging areas.Restaurant had disappointing food.
My girlfriend and I were celebrating our anniversary and her birthday in Sedona over the weekend. I called the front desk and spoke with Brittany a day prior to our arrival to request an earlier check in if at all possible and to ask if they could assist me with a small surprise for my girlfriend. I had flowers and some small gifts delivered to the hotel and they set everything up perfectly in the room. Brittany then asked if I could please email her a few pictures of us together so they can frame them and put them in the room too.Upon arrival Brittany was friendly and sweet. She immediately wished us a happy anniversary and wished my girlfriend a happy birthday. We went up to the our room and saw the flowers and gifts setup nicely. We then went out for dinner and returned to find some delicious chocolates, a bottle of champagne, two glasses and the sweetest card ever. It was a very sweet gesture and shows that they care about their guests experience and actually take the time to do such things.Id highly recommend this hotel to anyone.I thank Brittany and all of the staff that helped give us the perfect weekend away. You are amazing!
Great place with a lovely view. Pool was a bit crowded because it was a holiday weekend. Teah the concierge is very helpful, especially with trails and food options! Great dog friendly hotel! Also Salt Rock is delicious, especially for breakfast! Bonus! Check out the creek outback. To the left there is a beautiful rolling stream!
Older, remodeled hotel. In a canyon by the river. Not much for views because all of the trees. Week beds and lots of dirty food trays in the hallways (probably due to covid). Of you want to go anywhere outside the hotel you need to get your car from valet or plan on hiking it up hill a couple hundred feet.Staff is nice, small bar and restaurant. Hotel was full of families with lots of children.
Great hotel and perfect location. Very welcoming staff even during a pandemic.
Its nice but a bit overrated in my opinion. For a boutique hotel it doesnt really feel like one. The property is attractive but small. The food is good but the menu is very limited. The drinks are tasty but overpriced. No coffee in the rooms is just cheap and annoying. The room, in general, is under stocked. Theres no glassware anywhere, not even in the bathroom but they try to sell you a stocked mini-bar. Weird juxtaposition.A Sunset Chateau remains my favorite lodging in Sedona and would be my first choice over this. The star gazing from the back patio is fun and the spa provides an excellent massage but you can get great views in lots of places here and you could book the spa and not be a guest.
I had the best time at this place, everything was excellent, the pool, service, restaurant, the room... OMG they have the best desserts on Earth you should try the sea salt cookies!!!! Thank you for the wonderful stay! I will come back
Felt obligated to write this review because it was my “mini moon”(called it that since Covid canceled our actual honeymoon plans). Anyways this place should not be able to be called a resort. It’s basically a motel 6 with a great view of oak creek (which we had thank god). The walls are paper thin, and you can hear every foot step from the people above you. There’s only 1 pool and it’s tiny so it gets crowded pretty quickly. It has 2 cabana loungers which is first come first serve so people just wake up early throw their stuff on there to save their spot and leave to eat breakfast. The “resort” does nothing about it. The food and drinks are way overpriced. Example chips and salsa are $17. No joke. Restaurant’s called SaltRock. You can look it up. To say the least, this was a terrible mini moon spot and wish we would have picked an actual resort with the same views. If you’re looking for a relaxing vacation in beautiful Sedona. Do not book this place.
I wanted to express how wonderful my stay was this amazing resort. From valet attendant Austin, to personal who checked me in, to Kai who made delish margaritas and Alejandro who attended us during our dinners we had. Everyone I encountered provided phenomenal customer service and made me felt so welcome! Looking forward to coming backSoon! Thank you again for making my stay with you guys so comfortable and pleasant
We got married at Amara! Lena was a dream to work with! I started planning our wedding in Fall 2019, not knowing what 2020 would bring. Lena made it as easy as possible to adjust plans as needed to make sure we had a safe and beautiful day. We would highly recommend Amara to any couples looking to get married in Sedona!
Suggestion would be for you to either stay at a cheaper hotel or splurge on a slightly more expensive one for best experience in Sedona. While the staff has good manners, they are a bit cold. Food is overly expensive and not for a good reason, better off eating not on the property. The gym has the basics but is a small room, can’t have more than a few people in there at a time, and all the equipment is dated. The rooms are not very soundproof, you can constantly hear people which makes it difficult to sleep. They are also a bit dated. The updated view with the courtyard isn’t really worth the upcharge. WiFi was spotty during the whole time here and they charge a resort/amenities fee even though there are no amenities currently available—work station areas are not open and shuttle is not available due to COVID.If you are planning as just using the hotel as a quick base during your stay, it’s suitable, but if you are looking for a hotel that has a great experience on property, this aint it.
Came here for a staycation get away with my girlfriend, since we live in Phoenix we figured it looked nice and close so we booked a night and drove overand it was awesome! We booked a couples massage and it was the best massage I’ve ever had.Jill (I think it was) was who did my massage and she was awesome. Extremely relaxing, thorough, gentle yet firm and the facilities are beautiful.I felt extremely taken care of here and it completely made mine and my girlfriends day!The room we stayed in was lovely and clean and the pool was fun as well.Good drinks, friendly Attentive staff, all around wonderful time. This is our new get away spot!
Over crowded pool (never any chairs), average rooms (paint chipping off the walls), and way overpriced for what you get. Location is good, and the pool view is nice (no view from room). Good food, but the dining area set up was weird. I’d say save your money and stay elsewhere. I wish I had. I feel like I was duped into buying luxury hotel prices for a holiday inn.
My brother and I had the best experience at this place yesterday/today. The room was very clean and the bedding was comfortable. The hot tub and swimming pool had great views. The valet team, managed by Ricardo, and the manager, Jenn, were absolutely out of this world. They took care of our needs without question or concern. We’ll definitely coming back.
Beautiful resort and very friendly staff - but it needs some upgrades and basic maintenance. Pool is wonderful but has limited capacity on the loungers so you have to be out there early. The onsite restaurant has great food.
Beautiful views. Very nice staff. Weak shower water pressure. Cheap shampoo and soap. Restaurant food was very good.
I would classify it as a nice hotel, but missing a few touches here and there. Took advantage of mid-week summer rates, but probably wouldn’t pay much more. Great location, can walk (uphill) to town and restaurants. Interesting setup w bar inside of restaurant, makes it feel a little weird if coming from the pool/room while people are eating a nice dinner. Main courtyard area was very pleasant at night with awesome red rock views. Creek was enjoyable, but could have used a couple benches or better setup down by the water.
I stayed 4 nights with some friends last weekend at the Amara Resort. The room itself was nice and clean, the staff was friendly, up until our air conditioning broke on the second night. They said they could not move us to a different room so they brought us a box fan which just circulated hot air. We all ended up sleeping in our swimsuits with wet towels on us because it was so hot. We also all woke up feeling a bit sick from so much heat and lack of sleep that we could no longer go to the Grand Canyon like we had planned. We called the front desk again to let them know theres no way we could sleep another night like that. So finally they moved us and it was next to a suite. The suite had a lot of people in it and they were up until 4:00 a.m. slamming doors, yelling, talking extremely loud. I walked out of our room to try and ask them nicely to be quiet but there was already a note on their door asking them to be quiet. In our final day checking out I went to the front desk to discuss my concerns and the lady was not helpful. She immediately blamed me for breaking the AC. And said it was my fault for not calling the front desk about the noise in the suite next to us, so how could she know it was true. I thought that was such awful customer service to automatically blame me for the 2 awful nights we had there. The manager was not in that day we left, so I called for the next 9 days in a row leaving 3 voicemails for the manager, and 6 hand written messages with the person who answers the phone with no response. I have not had a call back at all. I would no longer recommend this resort to anyone. And I will not be staying at the resort on my next trip to Sedona.
We stayed here as part of our honeymoon. The room was OK—standard hotel type of room where all the art is the same in each room and feels very corporate. Not really the rustic or luxurious getaway we were hoping for, especially considering the price. The hotel room promised partial views of the red rock, but you can only see the red rocks from the common grass area and lounge in between all the rooms, not from your actual room or porch. The pool was amazing, probably the best in town. If you’re looking to celebrate a special occasion, I’d suggest getting a room on the creek so you at least have a nicer patio and better view. Overall a nice stay. We ate at the restaurant one night, which has a great patio and service. Was convenient after a long day of hiking. The valet is quick also. After comparing it to other online listings, even though it’s not the “luxury” we were expecting, it was a good stay. I think Sedona overall is touristy and overpriced with a lot of hotels, bnbs, and lodging that need updating but still booking for high prices just because of the demand and reputation of Sedona and the surrounding areas. As a seasoned traveler, I don’t think there’s a lot of charm here when it comes to places to stay. But the nature and hiking is one-of-a-kind.
The positives about the resort:The view is beautiful. The food at the restaurant is delicious. The negatives about the resort:Good lord, we have NEVER had this many issues in accounting with a resort. We stayed at the resort for ONE night! We currently have $1073.66 taken from our account AND it caused us to over draw.We were told the price of the room was $297. When we woke up on Sunday, we had pending amounts of $260 and $344!! I asked why we had two charges for this amount if the room was only $297, and they said they were doing a $260 holding fee!!!I went back to my husband who agreed with me that thats awful high, but we ignored it despite not really understanding the charges. As my husband was checking out, we were told the final price was $468! Which is fine because we charged breakfast to our room, but apparently the resort charges us an ADDITIONAL $468 from the money they have already taken, totally to $1073 taken within TWO DAYS!!!I called accounting and they said they would call me back, but I have not received a phone call.Do NOT stay here. All of my friends who loved my pictures from our vacation were informed not to stay here. There are other hotels that are cheaper and have just as nice views, and probably wont be so lackadaisical with accounting as this resort!
Beautiful place! If you want anything spa bring extra $$. Bathroom counter not large enough to do makeup. The porch/balcony was great!! Our balcony was upstairs in the middle of trees, beautiful.Mixed drinks are very citric and a bit watered down. The food was good, but for the cost Id go to the cowboy club or the Javelina Cantina - both great food and drinks for the price.Very nice pool with an infinity edge, viewing the Sedona landscape.
Originally planned to stay here for three nights and left after one. Our first room was right next to the adjoining propertys sewage and our room smelled horrible. We were moved to a new room, which smelled stale and the bathroom was not clean. There was garbage all around the pool and no towels at any point. We requested the valet bring our car at 4am the night prior, they did not. We were given our keys and had to go find our car. I travel quite a bit, and have never felt so deceived by a property. Luckily, there was availability at a hotel right down the street, with fantastic views, and at a lower cost!
Outdated & Expensive 3-star hotel.I’m a seasoned traveler with elite memberships across many hotel brands. I can tell if a hotel is worth +$500/night or not.Having stayed across Ritz Carlton’s, St. Regis’, JW’s, Westin’s, W’s and many other 4-star boutiques around the world, so I know what a +$500/night actual 4-star hotel feels like. And Amara Resort & Spa is nothing close to the big leagues. Here’s why you’re better off going to Courtyard Marriott or other hotels at the $200-$600/night range:1. Outdated hotel overall: Maybe you have never see an infinity pool, but that is about the only thing that is less than 40yrs outdated (maybe hotel was cool in the ‘80s-‘90’s). Rooms, halls, common grounds are severely outdated and this just isn’t a 4-star hotel status like those I mentioned above (which are ~same price).2. Small pool area: The only pictures you see anywhere is of the pool & common area. Both are incredibly small, so you won’t even be able to hang out if there’s capacity of 10 people.3. Service: When you’re at a top hotel, you get top service. You don’t get that here like you would at +$500/night hotels.4. Only reason 4-star hotel: Likely because they have a spa. This is a solid service, but again, you can simply book a spa and not have to stay at an expensive 3-star hotel.Save your money and go elsewhere. You can get excellent views from just about any hotel in Sedona. We loved Courtyard Marriott because it’s totally remodeled, had large pool and jacuzzi, and was 1/3 the price. I have Elite status with Marriott, so for those who do go, you’re better off there!
Beautiful location but the mattresses are older and not very comfy, and it can use a face lift. Excellent customer service!
The Amara is a wonderful hidden gem in uptown. From the moment you arrive you are greeted with excellent service. Besides having AMAZING views, located on the creek, being a quiet property to help you relax and being pet friendly. The Amara got me with the little things. The amenities you get for the resort fee is great, and they actually go out of their way for you. Service is impeccable. I will be back for another weekend stay. Also a perfect place for a romantic getaway.
If I could rate this place a ZERO I absolutely would. We stopped here for lunch on a Sunday afternoon. There was possibly 5 tables total in the entire restaurant. For 3 people outside, we were told the wait was 30-35 mins. We were finally seated after an hour even though there were over half of the tables open. It took 5 mins to get a server to come ask for our drinks. And we ordered food right away. It then took an addition 40 mins to get food because “a table of 10 ordered first”. Not to mention how rude how waitress was. Thankfully the food was OK. But not worth the price at all. They only reason this place gets 1 star from me is because of the view and the bartenders were awesome.
Mediocre..Over priced and it should be titled more like a hotel NOT a “Resort”Ok, I am going to be a “Karen” right now (no offense to the Karen’s out there) but seriously, listen, my husband and I stayed here two nights to celebrate my 50th Birthday among other things this week. This was a very special occasion trip and our first getaway with COVID 19. First of all, as we arrived I felt we were treated like second class citizens because we made the reservation through a 3rd party not directly through them. We arrived in the evening and the front desk attendant did not explain anything to us such as where coffee is served in the morning, where the pool was, where we could have breakfast etc.The view in our room was nonexistent “nothing like what their pictures show on social media” with the price we paid and staying two nights I was expecting a view besides, this is my 50th Birthday vacation so, I was really looking forward to a view from our room. They could give us a room they said with a view for an additional $50 dollars a night ! For that price we might as well have stayed at a REAL RESORT.There was NO Coffee in our room! Isn’t it supposed to be a Resort?! Not even a one cup coffee maker! You have to go to the lobby “they said” for free coffee Unbelievable.. But they make sure they supplied the room with plenty of those overpriced candy and junk. The mattress was Horrible our back was hurting the next day.The sink was clogged and backing up.The room was not as clean as expected especially in the middle of a pandemic.Their food is over priced.Pros: the bar tenders and bell guys were all so sweet and they do have good towels.I could also say the view “not from our room as we had none” but the view out in their back patio was Spectacular BUT anywhere you go in Sedona the views will be Spectacular. They did compensate us with a $50 dollar credit to their bar and free breakfast for the next day but they sure made us feel like we had done wrong for speaking up.Bottom line, I do NOT recommend AMARA Resort and Spa I will pay a little more for a Resort that will hold up to the standard of “the Resort” title.Sincerely,A Karen
Alejandro was our server at Salt Rock, inside the Amara Resort and Spa. He knew his menu, was excellent at presenting the specials and was really kind and considerate.
This resort is not for pregnant, elderly. It sits at the bottom of a hill with stair or ramp access only. The stairs are steep. Inside the rooms you may have a scary picture of a jackalope. A disease ridden hare with antlers. It may have had some old folk lore meaning to the owners but it frightened me and I had to cover up the entire picture to keep that scary eye from staring at me so I could sleep. The pool is nice and so is the outside patio. There are a lot of kids and dogs which is great for families. The customer service was excellent but I wouldnt stay here again.
I had a great stay at Amara early June 2020. The property was very clean, everyone was friendly (specially the valet attendants) and I felt very safe with their Covid precautions. The pool was very relaxing and well maintained. I had breakfast at the restaurant one day and the food was excellent. Location was very central. I would recommend and stay there again when in Sedona.
Had a wonderful lunch outside overlooking Oak Creek
Overall our stay was great!Staff was welcoming and friendly. Its hard to find great service nowadays. So this is a big plus. The many amenities were wonderful. Free yoga (limited spaces for two morning classes), complimentary valet parking, free wine at happy hour, and star gazing on Mondays with local astronomers. The only two things we would like to be different:1. The bed and pillows - they were not the worst, but they were not the best. I would wake up with some lower back pain in the mornings.2. Housekeeping could have done a better job with cleaning. Trash was not thoroughly tossed from trashcans after serviced. We would leave some towels on the ground when we wanted new ones (per housekeeping instructions), only to find them hanging back on the racks. Some of the used wine glasses were not picked up from the room after service.
You pay for the location and view, thats for sure. Accomodations were adequate but for the price, expected a bite more luxury. Overall a great location and nice stay.
Great location and a beautiful spa resort. The rooms are nice but not anything special ...most importantly the beds were awesome and they all have a balcony. The staff was awesome, super friendly and the restaurant was really great for breakfast. Try the oatmeal with caramelized bananas yum! We also had a great massage.
Horrible customer service and failure on every level except the spa. Definitely not a 4 star hotel except for fact its located in Sedona. Spent $600+ between room, massage, and their restaurant and decided to leave 4 hours after checking in I was so disappointed. Room facing a service road, cheap aluminum security bar that falls apart when you open back door. Super average room, nothing luxury about it in any way. Medium rare hamburger for lunch that is two flat burnt pattys. After receiving an email from them asking about my experience I answered it honestly and no reply. Called a week later and spoke with Julie (Front desk manager) and asked if it was standard practice to send quality check email to customers and never reply back. She apologized and said she would follow up with me. Nothing. Do not waste your money at this place they do not care about their customers.
Glorified holiday inn, not a resort. Beds were very uncomfortable, basic room and over priced. The pictures make pool and common green look much larger than it actually is. We changed rooms and it wasn’t any better than the first. Expected much more for the price.
Grea spot to chill out (with or without the kids). Highly recommended.
Just ok. The hotel room is clean but one of the worst I’ve stayed in. Tiny small sink bathroom. The grounds are just ok. The food is just ok. I wish we would have stayed at the Hyatt or Enchantment. Kids screaming in the pool at night. I can hardly wait to go home.
Booked a night at Amara Resort & Spa based on location and website pictures. This resort exceeded our expectations on every level. Amazing service, views, atmosphere, food, drinks.. i couldnt find one bad things about this place. The day we checked out we started talking about when we should return back to this place. We were upgraded to the Oak Creek view upon checking in.. we were just feet from the creek. It was cold this time of year but not too busy, we had one of the outdoor fire pits to ourselves. Everything was in walking distance but we ended up eating and drinking at the resort restaurant.. great choice! Absolutely beautiful view with amazing food. The bar tenders were very cool.. easy to talk to, very tentative, and made the best drinks. Im already telling all my friends and family about this magical place. The staff must love their jobs because they were all very happy and helpful.. from valet service, front desk, waiter, and bartender.. you get the vibe that everyone is sincerely interested in making your experience great. I cant wait to return.
Monique at the front desk is warm and welcoming. Samantha at front desk is genuine, friendly and professional. Everyone on the bell team are amazing! Yvette and Al at the bar made our trip spectacular and made us feel right at home with kind conversation and excellent service. Both are made for the hospitality business. Couldnt have asked for a better place to spend my birthday. A cozy atmosphere with 5-star service. As for the spa, Liz is truly a healing soul. Lupita was so patient after I changed my appointment time/treatment 3 times.Thank you Amara! We will be back!
Typical Sedona resort. Halfway decent rooms, at luxury hotel room costs. Spa is very nice and services are great.
Amazing resort. Amazing location. Beautiful scenery and conveniently located. Wonderful concierge. The little things like the coffee in the am and wine happy hour in the evening really make this place stand out. Will definitely come back.
Upscale and cosy-modern hotel near the river. Nice pool with easy entry (very good for kids) and an overall relaxed environment. Excellent restaurant and fancy cocktails ! nice for a romantic retreat !
Outstanding hotel and resort. Was there for a annual corporate/board meeting and the service was outstanding. The resort is close to Oak Creek and downtown area (walking distance). It also has an awesome infinity pool with cabanas. Use of the spa facility, such as the eucalyptus steam room, is free for hotel guests. There is also free valet parking (however it is good to tip the staff). On the down side, the beds were a little hard and I woke up sore. I have a Tempurpedic mattress so Im used to a certain comfort level. Cant wait to return. Highly recommend.
Great location. Heated pool. Good service.
I felt that this place was overpriced. It really felt a little worn or run down. The room was not well-stocked. We stayed at three different hotels during our stay in Sedona and this was my least favorite.
The services are very good and they make sure you have a relaxing time. I just wish the facilities were bigger.
Lovely clean and gorgeous environment
Love this resort!! Staff was amazing, rooms were beautiful!!! Amazing views!!!
Facility was fine.Great location.Bed was VERY uncomfortable.Customer service left a lot to be desired. Their front desk does not have a customer first model.Spa did not have a resort feel.
This place is beautiful and the staff is amazing. Also, its pet friendly!
Getting our hiking instructions on the side of the van!
Food was amazing! And such a wonderful view. The rooms were ok but quant. Other guests on the floor above were inconsiderate and being noisy at five am taking away from the stay. Our room had no towels and there was no information cards in the room which is why I removed a star.
Salt Rock was fantastic! Good service, delicious margaritas, and great food. We will definitely come back.
Despite various limitations associated with COVID-19, this place has managed to work with those and still provide a very nice experience. It was a great small and short getaway.
I absolutely loved staying here and will be back again in the future! The staff was accommodating, attentive and so incredibly friendly. The restaurant was delicious with great service. The spa was convenient and the massage I received - excellent. Not to mention, how closely located the resort is to the main area of Sedona.I especially loved how spacious my room was, the lovely balcony overlooking the creek and the HUGE bathtub! One stay and the Amara has made a raving fan out of me!
Some of the staff are very helpful and hard-working, but unfortunately they cant make up for the remainder of the staff who are incredibly rude and just dont seem to want to be there. Go have a drink at saltrock, which is fantastic, but dont stay here. It costs far too much to not have the service be top notch. You can do better elsewhere.
The views are incredible, staff was great, I wish they had more services, like coffee!
• Good location, nice outdoors, wine social hour, good food for our meeting• The hotel is in a good location with some great views to offer. The rooms were okay, honestly nothing special for the price. Breakfast is not included, but a wine hour is. Rooms and hallways were super loud at night.• Good food that we had a chance to try for our meetings.
Terrible experience from the start. Dumb valet holding door while I struggle with luggage and after THREE trips to the front desk he says, « are you like gonna need help? » (guy with man-bun, shaved head on sides).Rooms are almost not possible to get to - you will walk 7 minutes up and down external stairs with multiple doors to open and close going in and out. Definitely not handicap accessible at all.Rooms are big and dangerous. I was multiple times injured by the bed which is sharp and juts out in a monotone poop color into the room. Tore into my shin and left me bleeding - told hotel but they don’t care. Kimpton never responded.Food is poor and overpriced.Needs serious updating. Not a resort, just an overpriced place to sleep.Avoid.
Comfortable rooms with spectacular views and great food and drink. Our room wasnt ready until well after check-in time, which put a sour note on the start for the weekend after a long day of travel, but we otherwise enjoyed our stay. The in-room yoga mats that are advertised as an amenity are actually a chargable item on the mini bar, not exactly an amenity.
Very friendly, nice staff. Great views :)
Where do I start.... We received a weekend getaway from our friends that booked our stay at the Amara resort and paid for 2 nights as a wedding gift. When we arrived and checked in with our confirmation number we were informed that only 1 night was paid for even tho the confirmation email states otherwise. So they not only charged our friends for 2 nights but also charged us for a night as well. When we arrived at our room it was ok was expecting more for $400 a night the bed was not comfortable at all and Im guessing we were put in the party side because everyone that passed our room was loud as all get out. When we woke on Saturday morning we went to the lobby hoping to get a cup of coffee and we were greeted instead by a very rude worker. When we asked if there was coffee we were informed that we could walk up to the shops and go to Starbucks. So not only did we get over charged for our room but for $400 a night we cant get a cup of coffee and rudely told to go to Starbucks. We had planed on eating breakfast at the restaurant but after that lovely rude greeting from the desk worker we opted to go to a cafe for breakfast. We hung out at the shops all morning just to avoid the rudeness that we received in the morning we did return to go have lunch before our spa time. Lunch was great the server that waited on us was amazing she definitely made up for the morning encounter so much so that we were looking forward to our diner reservation that evening. But unfortunately we did not receive the same service at dinner that we did for lunch. When we arrived they did not seem to concerned that we had a reservation and didnt even have a table ready for us like they did for others. Our server seemed like he didnt really even want to wait on us as if we were inconveniencing him. He took our drink order and about 20 min later we received our drinks and he quickly took our order still looking like we inconvenienced him just by being there. I say this because he never brought us water or silverware to eat our meal with it took another server to come over and see we got our diner but nothing to even eat with. The one time we saw our server after our food arrived he asked if everything was ok but didnt even wait long enough for us to swallow our food to inform him that the steak was over cooked. I mean if your going to charge an additional $11 for a steak to be added to a salad at least stay to hear if it is cooked properly. It wasnt until our meal was complete that I believe the manager came over and we were finally able to explain about our meal and the disappointment the manager did remove the steak charge but then our server came back he made the situation uncomfortable again as he was mad that we didnt inform him of our steak. He didnt even care to come check on it after that 1 time when he basically asked in passing. After observing where he was spending most of his time it made sense when we seen him at the drunk girls table more that any other table so I guess we had to be straight blond drunk girls in order to get decent service. I guess the only bright spot of service at the Amara was the lady working the desk Saturday night that was able to get us a kureg to have coffee Sunday morning. What should have been an amazing honeymoon weekend for us did not happen because of the poor service received by the workers at the resort and the fact that they managed to get more money out of us even tho the rooms were already paid for but made us pay double for Saturday. There was definitely one thing decided this weekend and that is we will not stay at the Amara Resort again.
Not cheap but a value for the extras and excellent service. Right up against Oak Creek and towering red Rock views. Prix fixe meal at Salt restaurant is a real gourmet deal. Big helping of tender, flavor packed osso bucco. Spa is wonderful, as you would expect.
Overall a good experience, we got it because they had a jacuzzi inside the room, it did not disappoint.
Whomever does the marketing for this hotel deserves and award. I feel like I was catfished. I would hardly call this a resort yet they tack on the title along with a resort fee. I visited from out of town Las Vegas and was extremely disappointed upon arrival everything looked great Walking in but the actual grounds for this hotel were extremely small. This is definitely not a resort by any means it is a regular hotel. I think the imagery online/instagram is extremely Misleading. I was extremely disappointed with the property to say the least. This hotel is definitely one of the nicer ones there but for the heavy price tag I would definitely never stay again. Expectations were definitely not met. I’d would definitely recommend an air b n b over this property. No thanks !!Aside from thatThe employees were ahmazingggg literally everyone.
Service is top notch!
Lovely area. Service is striving for 5 stars, but not quite there. All aspects of service should be as quiet and chill as possible considering this is a resort spa and premium pricing. This should include the cleaning crew, indoor and out, and service in the dining room. Develop concierge services relative to Sedona.Spa services exceptional...call ahead to reserve.Rooms are comfortable and clean and well appointed, although small. Be sure you specify whether you want to be on the garden-side or the poolside. If you are on the pool side you may want to ask about how close you are from the dining area. The views from the dining area and hang out area by the pool are gorgeous of the red rocks, and desert sky.The food at the Saltrock is a delicious array of gourmet Southwest fare. Excellent wine, beer and speciality cocktails. We would come back. Wish we could stay longer.
Went for a drink outside and at the bar. Great barman and staff. Amazing view during the day with cool looking infinity pool. Check out the stream at the back of the property for a great find
Received a friendly greeting here. The free wine social hour was happening when we arrived (5-6 PM). The front desk got us some wine while we checked in. Rooms are looking dated but beds were comfortable. They had fire pits outside to take away the chill. Great views. Excellent zero edge pool was heated, surrounded by comfortable lounge chairs. There is one restaurant. It is fairly small and the menu is limited but the upscale southwestern food was very good. Especially liked the appetizers--blue cheese soup and deviled eggs. Spiced just right. They permitted a pet dog in the restaurant at the table next to us. At this price point and with the tables so close together, it was not good. fortunately, we like dogs. Order of service and breaking in a new chef at breakfast caused chaos and complaints from diners, so one star off.
The resort was very nice and offered a lot of amenities. They have beverages near the front desk that change throughout the day from teas and coffee to waters and lemonade. At night they have a complementary wine hour and fire pits to snuggle up by. Yoga is offered at the spa, its a smaller space, but we enjoyed the class. The staff was very friendly. There were some things that could be improved, and I overheard some talk about renovations. One is the restaurant and bar, it felt a little outdated and weird design. The courtyard space felt a little empty in some spots, I feel like they could redesign it into something more useable. And finally, the pool was a bit small for the resort size and we had a hard time finding seating whenever going by. The property is also backed up to a trail that follows a river, which we thought was pretty cool.
Who are they paying to write these positive reviews?
Our stay was very nice. We ate at Salt Rock Kitchen and it was really tasty. The views are pretty incredible from the pool area and we were fortunate enough to be there when a astronomy club was there and we got to look through some telescopes and see some planets. Our only complaint was that the bed was a little hard, for the type of resort this is I would think the bed comfort would be a little higher quality. One really nice thing is valet parking is complementary. The staff is very friendly and helpful and they try to meet any request you may have.
This is a magical resort at the base of a mountain. The rooms were comfortable and well appointed. The food in the restaurant is excellent and the hotel staff is very friendly and accommodating.
Front desk and valet service customer service was poor. Not enough communication between employees resulting in customer frustration. The food and service @ saltcreek rest was good. The spa offers only a small steam room, lockers and a resting area but nothing else. Room was clean. Location is good to walk around town. Not really worth the charge per night. Sedona is expensive and not very welcoming. It has changed lots, not sure in a good way. My humble opinion.
Services they provide are great--stargazing on Mondays, shuttle that takes you around within a mile of the resort, happy hour in the lobby, etc. Facilities, however, are outdated. Bathroom was freezing cold and took several minutes for warm water to filter through. Slow draining sinks and tubs, noisy AC/heater with the temperature controller being finicky, heated pool which was not heated, carpet looks/feels old, and whichever cleaning supplies they use are heavily scented.
Amazing location, pet friendly and awesome amenities, loved complimentary happy hour and my favorite, free yoga lessons!!
Beautiful location of the property. Everything was clean and welcoming. However not an ideal experience for $350 a night!! For example we asked to be upgraded when we arrived and pay an extra $40 for the better room with a view and a jacuzzi. After waiting 30 mins, we go to the room and it has no view, 2 doubles instead of a king, and no jacuzzi. Not a good first impression. Then we go back to the desk to go back into our original room. Unfortunately the most unpleasant situation was having Landscapers wake us up at 7:30am by cutting a tree right outside our door!!! Absolutely unacceptable of the management to inform us about this at the very least. I understand this must be done to keep the property nice, but it was a rude awakening and they did not give us warning. Additionally, I was going to tell them about it when leaving, but the staff didn’t have the courtesy to ask me how my stay was. This is a simple question that I think every hotel in the world asks... next time I’ll just stop in for lunch rather than staying here. I suggest you do the same.
This is a quaint little spa resort, loads of amenities included in the resort fee; complimentary yoga classes twice a day, use of the spa areas, hotel shuttle to get you around town if you dont want to drive, Wine hour every day, infinity pool is heated and what a view from the Dining patio, courtyard and pool. The staff comes off like family. Additionally they are pup friendly.
Great location right near town. Clean rooms. Helpful and courteous staff.
Very nice resort. The rooms are nice and modern. Bar is a little small but the staff is attentive and handles it well.
Stayed the weekend here and it was perfect. Courteous staff and tranquil surroundings. Location is prime for walking and seeing the sites. Spa massage was the perfecting ending to a wonderful day.
Good hotel, great breakfast. Try their burritos and waffles. Wish coffee was available in room like other hotel vs only 7 to 9 in morning in lobby.
The resort is literally smashed on top of another property, my balcony overlooked LAuberge balcony. You can hear people make phone calls through the walls and bang doors at 5:30AM ( i only ask to sleep until 8..its vacation). Also needs blankets, its cold in the desert at night. Also, should be able to have Hot tea in my schedule, not run to lobby or call to desk...get tea /coffee pots.Upside, great view and wine hour. All staff extremely nice and gracious
Great views! Clean well-stocked room seemed updated. Salt Rock kitchen was unusually good for hotel food. I ordered the picnic breakfast and picnic lunch in little insulated bags -- Awesome touch. Bartender had generous pours. Pool and hot tub were clean. Enjoyed walking down to the creek for some solitude. Staff was friendly and attentive, from the valet to housekeeping. Pricing was competitive for the areas resorts. Felt like management is really trying to make an enjoyable experience for guests. Coming back for sure.
Great hotel in the center of Sedona! Everyone was very nice and professional. The afternoon wine & snacks daily is a great idea. Would recommend.
The hotel room is pretty average for the price paid (~>$380). There is no complementary water, no complentary snacks..nothing. The facilities close much earlier than one would expect for a tourist place. For example the spa closed at 6pm on Sunday, when it is expected at a touristy place people would spend the day out and come back to hotel in the evening. Similarly, the wine tasting ended at 5pm. Yoga classes are very small and hence its difficult to find a spot.So the question one should really ask is: what am I paying all the money for!
We enjoyed almost everything at Amara. The Spa is great and my wife and I had great massages from their masseuses. The hotel is very cute, inviting, well laid out. Salt Rock serves great food, amazing drinks and exceptional service. The room was nice as well. The only complaint we have is we cut our trip short a day as their bed was like laying on a bed made of plywood. Really was uncomfortable, so we cut our trip short a day. Not normal comfort for a 4+ star hotel. Everything else though was pretty great!
My wife and I got married here in 2016. We really enjoyed the resort. Just off the main drag so not far from uptown but far enough away for some peace. The wedding packages are easy and takes a lot of work out of the process, which was great. We come back every year for our anniversary and have lunch or dinner.
Beautiful resort away from the tourist bustle of sedona, even though it is in the center. The spa was first class with superb service, anf their restaurant had great food
Great surroundings and grounds, rooms are sub par for what they charge. $37 resort fee is kind of nuts. Charge those who want the yoga class, otherwise Im not sure what Im getting for that. Bar and outside area really are quite nice, but I dont think I will stay here again as I dont see the value for my money. Its way overpriced.
This absolutely Lovely Hotel located in central Sedona is peaceful with excellent customer service! The rooms are very comfortable and the outdoor Pool and Spa really refreshing. The outdoor dining room is comfortable with lots of heat lamps. The free yoga classes in the morning are fantastic!
This was my 1st stay at a kimpton property. The building itself was well kept and clean. The rumor that we were apparently upgraded to, which claimed to have an excellent view did not. The staff were very pleasent, from vallet to bar tender. Pretty solid tequila selection on hand as well. The pool is heated and there is a very pretty stream running behind the property. I would certainly stay here again.
