We had a great time on this tour! Renee was our guide. She was very friendly and kept us laughing. She encouraged us to say hello to George (horse). He was beautiful and welcomed the attention. My daughter was able to walk right up and pet him. Savannah is a beautiful place. I would highly recommend taking a tour by carriage.

I was in Savannah for the first time on my honeymoon. This carriage ride was wonderful! I cant remember our tour guides name, but she is a sweet woman from Kansas City. We rode with George. I loved how great she was with the horse! Respectful and caring. She was extremely knowledgeable of the history of Savannah. It was my first carriage ride ever, and I loved it! The beauty of the city, and fun facts we never knew.Highly recommend!

I highly recommend taking a carriage ride with these folks. They are friendly and knowledgeable about Savannah and its history. Our driver was pretty cool which made for an entertaining ride. But be warned: during a busy time of year, you will need to make a reservation before you plan on going-the slots fill up ridiculously quick, so dont get mad if you just meander up wanting a tour and they are booked. The reason I mention that is we seen it 1st hand while there. The hostess however was very professional in dealing with the outburst from someone who thought they were more important than anyone who had made a reservation. She handled it a lot better than I would have!

The carriage tour was absolutely amazing. The driver with peppercorn was very funny and knowledgeable about the ins and outs of the city. He also shared funny little movie trivia facts about the area. Peppercorn was a great horse and very friendly for us to take photos with after the ride. Over all the ride was a must do for the first or second time tourist thinking about what to do around the city. Very great company to do business with.

Scheduled a private carriage tour for 2130. The night was perfect and clear after a light drizzle prior. We planned dinner and drinks around it. They called us 14 minutes prior to cancel, as we were walking up to meet them “oh. We were just calling you.” They cancelled because they said their lights didn’t work; however, their lights were on (as we pointed out). They asked us to reschedule tomorrow when it’s supposed to be pouring rain (which we pointed out ‘but it’s savannah’). Super disappointed

You either have to pay $150 for a private or be crammed into a small carriage with strangers. You will have 3 strangers facing you from a foot away and breathing in your direction the entire tour. We all know homemade masks don’t totally stop the spread of covid. It’s obvious this company doesn’t care about the safety of their customers.

Marti was our guide and she was absolutely fabulous. Her knowledge, attention to detail, and genuine enthusiasm to please was such a breath of fresh air. We had a great tour! We were able to call in the early afternoon, and got a same day reservation for a public historic tour. There were 8 guests total on the carriage. I felt like we were comfortably seated and had plenty of room. The price was very reasonable! The horse seemed to be very well-loved and very well taken care of. Our lovely horse looked like he was in great shape, and he didn’t even break a sweat during our tour! As a previous long time horse owner, it is very obvious to me when a horse is not taken care of. Do not believe the negative things you read online! Horses are VERY expensive to feed and upkeep, and these are draft horses that eat a lot of feed/hay. It would be obvious if they were not well fed/taken care of. They have special shoes that are meant for walking on the roads. Draft horses have been bred for thousands of years specifically to do work like this (pull heavy equipment and carriages). It is very easy for them, and most of them enjoy it. The carriage driver was very friendly and very knowledable about the area as well. This is a great, unique way to learn some of the history of Savannah.

We had an excellent experience. We booked a private tour for 4 and it was great. Mike our tour guide was very informative and knew a lot of history and had good stories to tell. Even showed us some famous places where movies were filmed. He was very nice and funny too. With the overcast in weather they were able to provide us with a nice covered carriage. The driver stopped a few times to allow the horse to drink. The only thing I was confused about was the Girl Scout rate as we were a small group of scouts. The website states they have a rate for scouts no group too big or too small but when I inquired was told we were too small. Nonetheless I still highly recommend

Don’t do it. Find another company or do the Old Town Trolley or Old Savannah Tour. Bought online for our anniversary. Paid $120. Money wasted. The driver had very few historic facts. Like 4 stories for the tour. We LOVE Savannah and go 6-8 times a year. We have done all the other tours (multiple times) and ghost tours. This was so disappointing. I even emailed the company and got no response (it’s been 4 months). Savannah is a romantic city. You don’t need to waste you money here. Buy the Old Town Trolley and walk Forsyth Park. Better time, better experience, more romantic.

I wish I could give 0 stars. I booked a carriage tour for my trip at the beginning of October. The day of the tour, the carriage showed up 20 minutes late. The horse would not cooperate and about 15 min into the tour, the operator gets a call to go back to the starting location so the next tour wont be late. She tells me that I can either join the next tour or receive a refund. I could not do the next tour so I requested the refund. I have both emailed and called Historic Savannah Carriage Tours for my refund and have not received a response - it is now December. Very rude and unprofessional.

We booked the ghost carriage ride with 4 people thinking it was a carriage. Turns out it was a wagon with seats. There were 9 people booked on a wagon that was designed for 8 people. My wife and I were riding backwards because there was no other way to ride. Consequently, we couldn’t see anything that was being pointed out because the tour guide was pointing out everything in front of us!! I guess it’s just about making money. I would highly recommend going to a different tour company if you are planning on doing the ghost “carriage “ tour.

These horses are so loved, well cared for and socialized; petting them is encouraged whether youre taking a tour or just walking by the carriage stand; and this company is meticulous and responsible about their care, especially regarding the heat regulations.BTW The horse are hosed down every hour when the temperature is over 85°, and they go in when the temperature reaches 95°.Every one of the tour guides for this company seems to love their job, theyre knowledgeable and entertaining while still professional. Its no surprise that they are the number one recommended carriage tour company in the city. The tours are 45-50 minutes long, depending on the horse and traffic, and generally cover the best parts of the historic district, an area still designed to accommodate carriages better than cars.

They have a percheron gelding that was involved in an accident in Savannh while pulling a carrige with patrons on the carrige. The poor horse was spooked or stressed because of the noises in Savannah. The horse went down and the carriage flipped over trappin the people under it several where transpirted to the local hospital. They have the 2 brothers which one of them is the one that was involved in the accident in Feb 2019 for sale they are stressed for being in small paddocks with out grass and room to run and dont even have hay. I know of a couple of people that offered to purchase both of tem to get them out of the stress they are forced to stay in because she is more about the all mighty $$$ sign instead of the welbeing of the animals. Thet is also other horses on the property that they say belong to another carruge company that are skin and bones. And she said hhat the 2 Percheron brothers where not aloud back on the Streets of Savannah but will not do what is best for the poor horses. The one horse that was involved in the accident when he is in his stall all he does is walks in circles with his head facing the ground, her employee stated tey are bored and need a job. Its a shame the way they have to live their life. Wish all the carriage companies would shut down for good the times have changed they dont need to be on the very hot asphalt and noices of a major noisey city.

I whispered a question to the lady driving the carriage, so the other people would not here me. It was a simple question Are the horses taken care of? She talked to me like I was dirt, which pretty much told me what she thought of her job, and the horse. She Introduced me to everyone, and told them what I said....carriage #974 a beautiful white horse. I asked, if I could rub him, and she said, NO, that I could support this horse by paying for a carriage ride so he has food to eat. Her actions made my decision easy not to ride. I have been staying at the Hyatt and have been watching these poor horses for four days carry people all day and night. Heat index of 107 degrees!! Not the best experience. Our one year anniversary return to Savannah. First, we called and called to set this up, finally after 7 or 8 tries over a couple of days we reached someone. They took our reservation and READ IT BACK!!, 6 30 PM was pick up time. On the way up we called to just confirm, this time 5 or 6 attempts to get someone to answer the phone, we gave up. Once we checked in we started to walk around some of the Historic District, returned to the B & B to mingle and visit, change for the upcoming ride and it was already there, an hour early????? We had plans until 6 30, thats why we requested a certain time! The driver called into the office, apparently a mix up, cant do 6 30 only 6. Would have been nice to know that, maybe if you answered the phone or called your customers back? Our options, go now or basically forget it. We decided to go. The driver while nice, never moved from the seat, didnt help with the door, though it was tough to open and close, never moved. Wasnt the friendliest and we couldnt hear half the time what she said. Since the mixup in time and failure to answer the phone wasnt her fault, we made sure we compd her. All in all a disappointing start to our anniversary weekend. Do you homework folks, plenty of romantic carriage rides to choose from.
