I have a little nastalgia about this place but that aside its pretty great. Great location. Park and open field. Theres always some fun community events here. Super cool statue as well. Plus a meeting hall and clean public bathrooms.
This park is nice and well-maintained. Being so close to downtown, it isnt too surprising how many housing-challenged individuals spend a large portion of their time here. There have been several occasions where I dont feel comfortable being at this park for very long. Good park, but not always welcoming.
It is a nice park with a homeless encampment on one side. Police was present at the time we visited. They were questioning someone. Maybe not the safest place for kids.
Very good park to visit and picnic. Love that place
Decent size park. Tucked in between the city and housing. Seemed like a homeless hangout place, but didnt feel weird out, they were all doing theyre own thing. Didnt feel worried about it.
I cant give it 5 stars due to the large number of homeless people in the park. It is beautiful with lots of trees and playground areas for the kids. But there were several homeless people around the playground.
This park has become a homeless encampment. Specifically the playground area! Tents and all. I cant believe the city allows this to go on. I do realize they are people too but the playground doesnt seem like an appropriate place for this.
Staying here under the shade was very cooling on a hot day. I saw a coffee stand too. It was very nice.
Nice little park to have a picnic. They have a kids playground and have restrooms. Very peaceful
Beautiful park with a playground, but homeless sleep there. Pretty safe as long as you watch your children vigilantly.
Lovely Park in center of SLO..enjoyed a picnic hear with friends
Its nice park, but so many homeless people its hard NOT concentrating on them and them walking around you
Beautiful park in the middle of town, but the homeless problem is getting extreme. I used to bring my children here, I probably wouldnt now.
Not a fun or safe park anymore. Sad.
Alot of homeless and bathroom were being filmed because of recent issues there. Would be a great place to bring kids if you felt safer
40%. It looks like its a nice park. The kind for a picnic on a sunny day. My experience was mediocre. Litter around many of the benches and trash cans, which there were many of. Just a few people there that looked to be cleaning a big bbq. But I suppose they could have been using it. Not friendly regardless of what they were doing. Someone passed out on the lawn, homeless, wasted, both? My protective dog was with me and he didnt seem to mind the people. And he has a sense for shady folk.Maybe this place is better on a sunny day. I doubt Ill return to find out.
Nice place to have a quiet time to study or just relax, pets are welcome just be sure to dispose of any waste you or your pet may have created. .always leave the area better than before you you use this beautiful place.
Such a cute park
The BBQ pit is all ways locked. Its is also poorly lit at night . Safety of people and property questionable. How about some colorful landscape lighting and 24hr food cart vending.
I love this park.... Ever since I was a kid. They have toys to play on, baby swings, theres BBQ pits, you can rent the seriously center if you have a event, theres a gazebo used for many functions, it had been getting a little overrun with the homeless ppl, but slopd frequents the park to try and keep it under control and still a family park. I recommend it. Parking if kinda rough though.
Lots of homeless people hang around the playground
Great park with different structures for big and small kids. Lots of homeless people in the park though.
Nice park and playground but lots of homeless people so it doesnt feel safe or clean enough
High homeless population and a very unsafe feeling
Always nice going here for woods humane society wiggle waggle walk ;)
Beautiful park, be weary of the homeless under the influence...
Wonderful event to celebrate Rosh Hashannah - JCC SlLO sponsored Apples and Honey
Play ground nice.... families. Beautiful...WAY to many homeless doing drugs, fighting, and sleeping. What is city doing with this problem?
Was a great park until the homeless came in and trashed it. Last time I went two homeless people people got into an argument and started yelling and cursing at each other. Same week the police found needles in the kids playground. It was also on the news.
Its really just a standard city park. Nothing really special, the bathrooms arent even open late and people still insist on letting their children off-leash. Remove playground equipment, add a few more fences, its going to be an excellent field
Nice green park in/next to the Historic District just a few blocks from downtown. Perfect for a picnic lunch when visiting town. There is shade, nice benches, and picnic tables along with a modern playground near the restrooms. There is no parking lot, but you can park for free on 3 sides of the park. There is a convenient small market across the street.
Nice lawn and tables
Had lunch with food not bombs its great
Too many homeless people.
Super clean
Two play areas- toddler and bigger kids. Plenty of grass, dog friendly, gazebo, bbq areas
Great place, some hobos wanted to share food with me!
Nice park, unfortunately lots of homeless inhabit it on a consistent basis.
Always been a nice park. I have memories of laying on the grass napping in the 70s. But, as of late, happenings and festivals are taking place. Perfect location. My only complaint was the amount of off leashed dogs.
Not very well kept up. A lot of homeless people arguing and garbage on all of the tables. Sad.
Its a perfect little park. Only bad thing is alot of homeless people.
Food Not Bombs #FoodNotBombs Sundays. 1-3
Lots of open space and benches, but there were lots of vagrants. Not that it was a problem, but didnt look appealing.
Looks nice but many homeless people.
Swings for tots and older. Lots of open space. Gazebo with power. Tends to have homeless people, but they stick to themselves and are generally cool. No basketball court or any other courts/fields.Overall clean and fun park.
The homeless people have been a problem here for way too long. Very sad cause the park is really nice and enjoyable when there arent needles and drunk hobos being disrespectful and shooting up.
Green, nice shady spots, a few benches, a fun gazebo. Easy bus access, near downtown. All great.
Great place for birthday parties for the kids. Many homeless people
The park itself is nice. I did not enjoy the profane graffiti in the mens bathroom.
Fresh air dog friendly relaxing spot!
Great little playground for the kids, but tons of homeless people at the gazebo.
Good shade. Nice fields.
Clean quiet nice restrooms
Great play structure, and the park grounds are nice.
Love the gazebo and the sidewalk store is convienent
AWSOME park but alot of homeless go their during the day
Great public park in area!! People were nice n friendly
Decent play structure, the outside work out gym could use a renovation. Other than that! Overall good park. Close to downtown.
This is a very nice classic town center park with a central gazebo and playground area. Ive played with my small children here regularly and even held soccer practice here for players under 6 year old which was a little hectic as this park is surrounded by busy streets. The traffic is usually going slow but the streets are busy and the park has no fence. The playground does have barriers but parents will want to keep an eye out.
Great park that was my first visit but yes homeless people not good appearance for the park
Lots of homeless
Its a great park i can remember it since i was 5 or 6 years old, im 58 now. Debbie G.
Great to see tall trees for making shades. Nice playground and its close to downtown.
A great place to do homework. Public bathrooms and a playground. Parking on or off street. Just way too many guys there for me.
Small but well maintained
Good location and has a play ground. Has a nice gazebo. Lots of grass to lay or play on some parking on eather side of park.
Very good park but too many homeless all day long.
Its nice here. Nothing special. But an open area. Grass. A gazebo. A nice place to hang out.
This has a nice little play structure and a big gazebo. I think it also has a bbq pit.
Nice play sets for children.Park has a homeless attraction it seems.Big Gazebo nice for public events.
Expect Hobos. Like all parks. Chill out people.
Can be full of homeless people.
Playground was decent but there were some shady characters hanging around talking about getting high. Seems to be a hangout for homeless.
Great place near the center of town. Restrooms, playground and senior center
I like this place because it has a lot of free space and alot of games. I also like it because it is so pretty and it is a great place to walk your dog or ride your bike. In the other hand there is alot of homeless.
Nice park for toddlers and young kids.
The best park in SLO. Perfect spot for a picnic.
Fun playground, great festivals
So many homeless people... Playground is decent though.
Beautiful park in the middle of town with an old fashioned band stand.
Nice place
Very clean and nice
Small park in downtown SLO. Theres a lot of open grass space with scattered trees and a gazebo. There are bathrooms and a play area for little kids with play structures and swings, both regular and baby seats.Unfortunately, the park is dirty. There was an abundance of trash and a lot of dog poop scattered in the grass.
Nice park with playground for kids. Also has a Senior center.
Walking distance to downtown
Nice and pleasant...clean bathroom
Great for kids, bums are nice!
Nice and big
Same as always
Super cute park, great play structures and swings!
Kids liked it
Good fun
Shade,nice swings,water,sports,netting room.RUSSEE PARVIN
Clean and great park with a playground for younger family members. Has access to public washroom as well.
Fun park for families!
To many homeless people hang out there.
Homeless problem, and the occasional drug deal
