Beautiful place to visit, I started from Shell Beach Road and hiked Ontario Ridge Trail which over looks the whole area. A round 45 min hike one way.

Too much trash. Great views but the rubbish ruins it. Quite a few free campers in parking lot. Parking also has a large dip along the edge which makes it difficult to enter for lower cars

A very cool cave located at the end of a small peninsula. The views through and from the cave and spectacular. Well worth a visit with some other unique places near by.

Pretty place. Steep climbs here and there but the main path to the smugglers cave and the beach is pretty easy. We went the wrong way and got a little backwards, but came across someone on a tightrope!

Nice place to visit/ A bit dirty. Pick up garbage if you can - I mean, bring a bag and a picker and help to make it cleaner.

Ate sushi on the overlooked with some friends, it was great but super crowded. Covid has everyone outdoorsy now lol

What a beautiful place. Very short hike with a little incline, but manageable for anyone 3+ years old. Only things that ruined a part of this beautiful spot are the countless graffiti on the wall of the cave. Watch out for the little ones, steep cliffs!

The cave walls have some graffiti and people make fires in the cave eventhough theyre not supposed to, but you can get a good view of the ocean on a clear day.

Proposed to my girlfriend here 9/20. It was perfect. Absolutely nobody was there at the time and we got to just hangout. A cave opening on a slight cliff on the ocean at Pirate Cove. Perfect.

Nude beach by day, breathtaking views at sunset, and secluded party spot by night. Great way to end a day at Avila considering its only a short drive (a manageable walk from some spots!) away.

Too many transients getting high in front of visiting children and families.

This is a bit of a hidden spot. Not secret, but hidden. Its still a hike to get to the beach and back from here, so please be aware if you struggle with hikes especially those with an incline. You also want to have protective footwear until youre down by the beach. Be ready to deal with tall weeds and grass on the way down. And please, be careful during high tide!

Got nude in the sun on the nude beach, hiked down and explored some of the caves, smugglers cave is my favorite, pretty private, clothing optional at the cave, or hike up the hill and check out the awesome views. Be careful and have fun. Remember to always clean up your trash and help keep this cool place cool.

Its a short hike from the parking lot to a great view through the arch-like cave. Its covered in graffiti and strewn with trash though. Give it maybe 30 minutes on your itinerary, including walking time.
