The Madonna Inn is elegantly designed inside and there is a lot to see. Its best to make a reservation as this place is fairly popular. You can sit down for a restaurant style breakfast, or grab something from the Cafe and sit inside the Cafe or outside area. There are several gift shops throughout the restaurant area; Several upstairs and one hiding in the wine tasting downstairs. The service in the restaurant was pretty on point with the waiter and waitress checking in on you at a good pace. The breakfast was delicious and was pretty typical for a breakfast place. I havent been able to stop talking about this place to my family and definitely want to bring them back. The hotel rooms are a little kitschy and I dont know if I could sleep in a brightly colored room. The gift shops have postcards of images of the room. Seeing them made me rethink if I truly want to try out the hotel next time. Overall, I would try the restaurant again, perhaps for dinner... and the vote is still out on a hotel stay.

Imaginative, beautiful experience - reminiscent of Wisconsins House on the Rock but if you could stay in the house. So much to discover, so many hidden details meticulously cared for - exceed my expectations. The prices are sky high, (but worth it) but it costs nothing to stop in and just experience it. So glad I stopped by.

For being in construction words cant explain what a beautiful architecture Madonna Inn has. The entire place feels so different. Was here for a Christmas dinner and the food was worth every penny we paid. Even the restrooms at this location is one of a kind. I think Madonna is probably where Ive had the best carrot cake.

It has a wonderful heated pool with a bar. Id say thats worth the price of the room alone. Steak house was delicious (great shrimp cocktail) despite being chilly in a parking lot. Staff was masked and we had no qualms about cleanliness. Rooms are kitschy fun. Cant wait to go back!

I heard a lot about the champagne cake and pink decor of Madonna inn, so finally decided to check it out. The champagne cake was alright, personally I liked their Black Forest cake better. They also had their Christmas decorations up. Worth it if you are in the area.

Overall, best experience so far. But the place is old.So of course...Some of the rooms smell like musty or moldFunctions like windows in my room didnt work very wellWalls were...very thin. Could hear noises very easily, as we could be heard very easily.But...The place had a special touch.Scenery was beautiful.And the pool was wheelchair accessible.Other than the rooms, all other facilities seemed up to date and very clean.The womens bathroom near the pool smelled amazing.Horses were beautiful and looked well taken care of.Best place to go.

Very cool boutique hotel with some unique architecture. The rooms have different themes, so I could definitely see myself coming back to explore more of what they have to offer. We stayed in the “pony room” and it had so much more character than your typical hotel. The beds were comfortable and the water pressure in the shower was amazing. We had dinner at the steakhouse, and while the menu was on the pricier side, they served generous portions, and the food was tasty. The staff was super friendly, and even kind enough to deliver my sweater to the room when I accidentally left it behind at dinner. If you are ever in San Luis Obispo, you can be sure that the Madonna Inn will treat you better than any generic chain hotel.

Ive heard about this hotel my whole life and stayed here recently. Every room has a unique design. Lots of hand crafted woodwork all over the property. The bakery is simply amazing. Friendly, welcoming staff. Worth a visit to check out this very unique property.

The Madonna Inn is one of the most unique hotels we have ever had the pleasure of visiting. We have stayed here several times over the past few years. And its been great every time. The pool is heated and stays open pretty late in the summer; 11pm.They are adhering to social distancing recommendations so we feel very safe.

We came to have a birthday lunch at the Madonna Inn on a Saturday. It was busy, but the setup in their parking lot left plenty of room for spread out tables and places to park. The staff were super efficient and accommodating to every table. It was a breezy, bright sunny day and I noticed the staff were moving their umbrellas so everyone was in the shade. The food was good and came out quick. I went to their bakery to see if they had any cakes available for purchase and they told me they had sold out by 9 am, but they had plenty of slices left reserved for the restaurant so we just ordered through there instead. I felt very comfortable going there as all the staff wore masks and all the table were spaced far apart. I would definitely return again.

I’ve always wanted to stop here. I finally got to stop here on my way home from SoCal. When we first stop here I didn’t think it was open because of the quarantine but I think it was her first day back open everything was very clean and beautiful. I was so happy they were open because I really need to use the restroom for one and I got to get some yummy treats and see that I definitely want to come back here again. This is a place you can definitely stop at just to shop and get a snack they have an awesome gift shop as well.

This was my first visit to the Madonna Inn. I was amazed at how the buildings were built around bedrock. The food was REALLY good and fresh. The staff, Stephanie, Cipi, and Marco(?) were so friendly and was willing to help if needed. I was there for my friends wedding in the Secret Garden and the atmosphere was awesome. Especially since it was a Halloween wedding and the reception was in the evening. I will definitely be returning for another visit.

Atrocious. Stayed at the Ren room. Paid ~$360. The room looks cool. Thats about its.The room was semi-clean, mold in the shower.. An then there is the bed that hasnt been switched out since seems like 1970. The dip was so bad I got NO sleep, and my back and shoulders still hurt 5 nights later.Save you money and get a newer hotel for 1/3 of the price and 5x the comfort.

I had to stop at this location since there is a Tesla super charger! A perfect place to stop while charging my car because this is a nice stop! Plenty to look at, buy and clean bathroom! This is now my new favorite stop! Plus I felt very safe HerronMy mommy and daughter Tesla diva trip! I would love to come back and stay or host a party here!There was plenty of parking as well. They have a full restaurant which I would love to try. The staff was very friendly and nice there was definitely a good vibe about the place.

Soooooo unique. We had an amazing stay. The staff were very friendly and helpful. Our room was very comfortable and cozy. We loved the food from the Steak House to the Copper Cafe were absolutely wonderful, great prime rib. Brought home a banana nut cake from the famous Madonna Inn bakery to share with family and friends. Loved the place.

A loud and bold decor. Pink is seen everywhere! Woodwork is beautiful with engravings. However for the prices of the rooms, food and gift shops. Youd think the place would be taken care of. The fountains werent looking so well, the plants and flowers appeared to be dying etc.

My family and I were fortunate enough for a quick getaway during the phase 2 reopening. This trip was on my dads bucket list and it did not disappoint! The rooms were lovely and despite our heavy-footed neighbors upstairs the stay was lovely. My daughter and I met a few nice people at the pool (at a distance), the garden path leading to the pool and the waterfall are picturesque.We had a lovely dinner, the staff was excellent and the steaks were delicious. The cafe was delightful, I enjoyed several pastries and they were all wonderful. The hash and eggs were top-notch.We also went horseback riding in the morning on our last day. It was my first time on a horse and my dad is an older guy but the ladies at the stables were so kind and patient. We had a great time on the trail and it was a fantastic 1st experience.On our way out my sister and I couldnt resist going to the gift shop to buy a few of the glasses/goblets for ourselves - they were too cute!I look forward to coming back when things have settled down to make an appointment at the spa and maybe stay a day or two longer.

Have always wanted to stay here after years of drivebys and experiencing the restaurant a couple times. Decor is cool but the rooms are super noisy. Here I lay at 1:40am having heard every move the guests above us have made for the last 4 hours! WouldNOT stay here again. Room selection very important if you want to sleep. We were in the Rocky Mountain room.

This has to be one of the most cool, funky fresh hotels I have ever stayed at anywhere. I love the theme of different rooms here they have at this hotel. I was here with my mom for one night some years back. This is such a cool place. You should come and stay here, or grab a bite to eat.

People rave about the cake here. I tried both the Toffee and German Chocolate flavors. They were good cakes but not as moist as I had hoped. Huge slices and very filling. If youre looking for a sugar rush, eat the cake here. We had wanted to sit on the patio but there was an hour wait. So make sure you call ahead for reservations if you want to sit down and eat. We decided to get the cake to go and were directed to go order inside. From there it was SUPER confusing where to go and who to talk to. They need more clear directions and instructions on how to order to-go in the future.

This an unforgettable place. A bit over the Top. But so much Color and Fun. COVID 19, has had a sobering impact. Physical Distancing, has opened up out side dining. Big gatherings have been postponed.The help seem happy to have one visit. My wife and I had a wonderful anniversary stay here. The room (Kona Rock) was beautiful the way the walls were made out of large boulders. The swimming pool was a perfect temperature. We received exemplary customer service in every aspect. We had a delicious dinner at the steak house, and ordered room service for breakfast. The only complaint we had about breakfast was that we should have ordered more pastries!

They have gone a long way to make your dining experience excellent in this day and age. Their staff goes over the top to bring you exceptional service. Definitely stop in, even if you pass it up, make a u-turn and stop. You wont regret it and they deserve your patronage

Have been passing by this for years but finally stopped and went in for the first time. If youve never gone in Id suggest going in just to see the unique designs all over. The bathrooms have interesting designs (specifically the mens downstairs one). Theres also 3 levels of gift shops, pretty pricey but still cool to check out.

We had a wonderful stay at the Madonna Inn. The room was clean and the staff were very friendly. The whole place is corky and fun and there are plenty of amenities available. The only criticism I have is some of the rooms need to be updated. Some rooms don’t have microwaves, refrigerators, or coffee makers. But overall a very positive experience!

We were determined to have lunch @ Madonna Cafe today. Workers ignored us, the bus person (male) was very kind, helped us with our drinks. Assigned waitress to our table never attempted to help us, we were very disappointed with the service here @ Madonna Cafe. We even asked twice if we could have a server come to our table. We will not return to this place. The place needs to work on customer service, be kind, serve with a smile. We could of walked out without paying for our 2.95 per soft drink, being the people we are we paid for our ticket. They never even apologized for the horrible service and on top of that it was very hot inside. I own a business, the importance of being kind and polite to each client is very important to me and our business. Work on your customer service Madonna Cafe.

I don’t believe restaurants should run if they can’t handle the amount of people that they seat. If the kitchen staff is short or they are not use to handling other numbers they should turn diners away. If they are at capacity they should warn the diner that it will take over an hour to get their food so they can make the decision to eat here or go down to Denny’s. I feel I the server was very sympathetic but the management should know better. I will not be returning this place, I won’t be recommending it to folks.The decor of the rooms was lovely but they walls are thin. We heard the people up stairs stomping bad and forth to the restroom all night vomiting. We realize it not the staffs fault the building has no insulation(which they should invest in) or that the people above us were sick. But none of the management seemed remotely interested we felt they were a bit cold and apathetic about our lack of sleep. A compassionate response from them wouldn’t have changed anything other than my over all impression of the place and since most of my reviews of places tend to be 5 star, my review.

My husband and I came here for our honeymoon, and it was an absolutely impeccable stay. The staff was in compliance with mask wearing, the food service was all done outdoors, and guests were kept at more than enough distance. The only place social distancing was not enforced was at the swimming pool because some guests would move the loungers around or allow their children to play with other children not in their party. Mostly we kept to ourselves and avoided anywhere that we could not safely distance.Other than that, everything was perfect. The cake, the wine, and the food was all fantastic. Ruined me for just about everywhere else we went!The rooms are so unique, and the staff so willing to make sure you have everything you want or need. Worth the stay!

I think if I came here for dinner or Valentine’s Day I would think more of this inn but it’s not very nice. It’s large but worn out.Food: whoa the food is expensive and not tasty whatsoever. The tuna melt tasted like the smell of a rest area restroom. Sweet potato fries are delicious! Burger was bland and fries were from a high school nearby possibly. Dessert was MASSIVE and good.Service: not much to complain about but we did have to ask for water refills a couple of times. Nice kid I guess. The guy who sat us could really use some training tho, didn’t say a word and looked very uncomfortable.It’s cool that things are pink but you still have to care enough to deliver more than pink accent to worn out wood.

We did a road trip to the Madonna Inn for lunch one day - just to break up the shelter-in-place monotony. We had a great day, and lunch was a nice diversion. They are serving lunch outside currently. The service was a bit slow, but the food was yummy. Not a gourmet level food - but more diner level. I love that their chili and potato salad are housemade. They were delicious. We were super excited to try their cakes because they are huge and look scrumptious. Unfortunately, the two we tried werent as good as we hoped. For instance, in the lemon coconut one, they used some of that artificial lemon gel for filling, and it just didnt land well.The hotel itself is historic and quirky, so its fun to visit for that reason. It is a bit musty/moldy feeling though due to its age.All in all, I would totally do it again!

I LUVED THE MADONNA INN! What an experience too bad covid closed down the inside bc it looks like a world of fun! Breakfast was good the yellow jackets werent so much fun but it turned out they just wanted our jelly so we took the jelly pots to the center barrel of the outdoor dining area and there they stood! The rooms were clean and the toilet seat was heated... lol luved that! Kids were having a blast here! The pastries are super size and amazing. My phone died so this is all I could get! : (

Awesomely quirky and fun to visit! We stayed 2 nights which was a perfect amount of time to enjoy the hotel. Basketball on pink courts, swimming in their zero-entry (and very well heated) pool, horse back riding through the hills of the property, and enjoyed the on site restaurants. Near downtown SLO if you want to venture out to shop or dine elsewhere. This is a geat place for couples, friends, and families!

This place is amazing! I brought my wife for her birthday. I took her to the spa, then dinner, then dance. The room we got was atop. During the morning you could feel in the clouds. The service at this place is nice and fast. People are super kind and patient. The amenities were always clean and taken care off. There are many different options when it comes to the rooms. Go to their website to see pictures of all of them. Definitely an experience you have to try at least once. Dinner was delicious and my wife loved the cake and the balloon. There is a Tesla charging station and it has access for wheelchairs. It has a romantic vibe going on but I did see children in the premises.

I think the Madonna Inn is probably the best place Ive ever stayed. I cried when we had to leave as I had the best time. The staff when above and beyond to make us feel amazing. Something about the Madonna Inn makes you feel like life can be lived in techocolor!

An amazing place!! I loved everything about it. We ate both lunch and breakfast in the cafe and it was great! The staff was so friendly and helpful. The lady at the check in was also so nice and amazing. Our room was so pretty!! The pool was heated and was beautiful and had a waterfall and two hot tubs. I highly recommend this place!!

The place was clean and wonderful. The rooms were fun. I brought the Grandkids and got 2 rooms. The caveman and Yahoo room. The kids loved both rooms and wanted to spend a half night in each!! The rock showers were so fun. I plan on going back and try more rooms It was during the covid 19 so not many people making it even less crowded. My only complaint was I bought gift card and was told I could used them at check in. After buying them I was told I couldn’t use them since I reserved the room through Orbitz. I told Them I was Reserving with Orbitz as they had great prices going in during the virus and was never I wouldn’t be able to use the discounted Gift Cards. Not pleased with that.

I stayed and ate here. My stay was not memorable because we got one of the last rooms and it was nothing special. The restaurant exceeded my expectations though. I ordered the beef dip with sweet potato fries which were delicious. The entire grounds are beautiful and I highly recommend you stay or eat here if you have the chance. Tip - do not wait for the last minute to book a room because you might get disappointed.

We heard so much about Madonna Inn breakfast. On vacation to Pismo Beach decided to go there for breakfast. We decided to order the food and have it outside. Waited for at least 15 minutes to place the order, only one person was ahead of us ordering, every 5 minutes someone will ask us; have you been helped? We would so no and they would say ok someone will help you soon!!Then we placed the order asking beforehand how long is the wait they said 20 minutes.We waited for an HOUR and still they were telling us another 20 minutes!!!We got really upset asking to cancel our order and only then they apologized and told us they are understaffed.If they would have told us from the beginning we had a choice of waiting or not.Never going back.

Fabulous location for a wedding or special event. Attended a wedding in the Secret Garden and reception in the Venetian Room. Both were exceptionally well organized and looked amazing. Food was much better than the average large crowd meal at most events and the service was stellar, too.

Madonna is a must! Especially if you are visiting from out of town. I took my Daughter out for a fancy date nice so we ate on the restaurant side. Great atmosphere and service. There is a bar and they have music and dancing most Saturday nights starting at 7p.There is also a more casual cafe side that had amazing hamburgers!! So restaurant if you want more of a steak dinner type of meal and the cafe side if youre in the mood for something more along the lines of a burger.They have a few shops and historical info about the property so definitely check those out, some meat stuff indeed!

The place was so relaxing. I do love the view at the rooftop. The pool was so amazing. The staff were so friendly and accommodating. But I think the rate per room was so expensive.

Madonna Inn did an excellent job moving to an outdoor dining experience. There is the perfect balance of shade, and there is a very effective windbreak.Food is still served hot and the employees all operate as if they are very comfortable with the situation.

This is one of the best Inns I have visited by far. Although I didnt stay there the bathrooms and cafe were very nice kind of like a cave style. I paid $8 for a slice of cake which was huge and $5 for a milkshake which was fine. If your taking a road trip and want somewhere to stay and eat this is the perfect place

They make delicious sweet potato fries.And the ladies bathroom is really pretty.

This place is unreal. It is so over the top and fantastically delightful. Its romantic and quirky and so unique.When we first got there we thought it looked like an adults only place but there were so many families! They are actually very welcoming to families. All the kids, girls and boys, were totally enamoured by every aspect of this place. The rooms were over the top fun and so wonderfully detailed - each one unique. The pool was a delight - its heated which is delicious if you swim in the crisp evening or morning. There are also 2 hot tubs and a spa. The spa was closed when we went for our night swim but it looked like you need to make an appointment. The robes are decadently plush..you just want to sleep in them. Honestly, one night here is not enough. We didnt even get to go to the restaurant. Im sure they have a ton of activities to do both on premises and in the surrounding areas.We had an issue with one of our rooms and management was so accommodating and very nice about it with no problem at all. Check in / out was pretty easy although it would be nice if, when checking in, the front desk were more welcoming and a bit more enthusiastic, but they were busy and were nice enough. When we checked out, the lady told my daughter to take a post card of her room, which I thought was very sweet of her.Next time we are in California, we are definitely staying there again.

A nice Boutique Hotel and classy restaurant including nice size Banquet Hall. The inside architecture is a must see including the beautifully decorated Bathrooms. The cake shop features nice Pastries and delicious cookies. The overall ambience is absolutely superbly setup.

This was a fun surprise. With it being a roadside stop motel, my expectations were somewhat low. But this place was impeccably clean and just an overall fun experience. We had no idea what we were in for! We stayed in a 1950’s themed room and it truly was like going back in time. It was like visiting my Grandmas house- so sweet. All the details were nostalgic and cute. We were only there one night but slept comfortably and overall enjoyed our time!

A unique experience. Its like stepping through a time capsule, I expected to see Sammy Davis Jr and Dean Martin having a drink at the bar. Its clearly a local favorite though and the fact that its as busy as it is speaks of its great food and local admiration.

This entire place is so beautifully built and the attention to detail is amazing. The staff that I interacted with were so friendly which I appreciated even though I wasn’t a guest. I don’t want to add 5 stars because I haven’t actually stayed here but I will update it when I do :)

The Madonna Inn is a historic and very flamboyant hotel that is a lot of fun to come visit, even if you are not staying at the hotel. We enjoyed getting cake slices late one night. The service was very good and we LOVED the cake. I highly recommend the Black Forest cake and the Pink Champagne cake. The hotel decor is one of a kind. It is PINK everywhere. Check out this hotel when you are visiting or passing through SLO!

Food was amazing, horseback riding was fun, rooms were unique but the A/C unit was so noisy we couldn’t sleep ️
