One of my favorite places in the city...Which is saying a lot, because its a pretty long list when I think of all the things I love in Cabrillo Bridge.

Iconic bridge built in 1915 that connects Laurel Street (which becomes El Prado after crossing 6th street) with the heart of Balboa Park. Highway 163 runs directly under the bridge.Has nice views of downtown San Diego when looking South off the bridge and of the planes landing at airport (even a peekaboo view of Coronado Bridge)Views of San Diego Zoo looking North; plus lots of greenspace and Eucalyptus & Palm trees.Great views of the California Tower as you walk across the bridge (hurry, the tower will be closed Feb 15+/- for a year+ for earthquake retrofitting).People often park for free in the West side of Balboa Park near 6th and walk across the bridge to the museums.Very nice spot during sunsets with the old fashion street lights glowing. If this was helpful info please like my review! Enjoy Balboa Park!

Beautiful overpass on the way to the inner parts of Balboa park. There Are tons of locks placed by people swearing love to each other along the fencing on the bridge and the view of the 163 freeway as it rolls under the massive trees surrounding it are awe inspiring. Love this place.

The best way to get into Balboa Park. Old lights, wide lanes, and a strong history give you a dazzling entrance to one of San Diegos jewels. Be sure to stay alert to pedestrians and the stop signs as you enter.

Built over 100 years ago,, this is San Diegos most beautiful bridge. See it from below as you head into downtown on the 163 or take a stroll across it as you enter into Balboa Park from Laurel St. Tip: for some beautiful picture taking opportunities, walk the Bridle trail (directly underneath the bridge) at night when the arches are lit up spectacularly.

Happy days are here again! Construction on the post-tension cables is over and this historical bridge is reopened for car and pedestrian traffic! If you peer over the south-facing side, youll catch views of Coronado Bridge, the downtown skyline (El Cortez sign, new library dome!), and even folks with their bows and arrows in the archery range beneath you. This is my favorite entrance to take visitors through for the first time... and just a stunning, sight to walk along to catch the cool exhibits at the Museum of Man or an outdoor play at the Old Globe. Hello gorgeous background for a photo-op!
