A great way to spend 15 dollars in a city where everything is extravagant. A great bargain. It is a small, cozy, intimate setting with comics that have drastically different styles and sense of humor. So there is a little bit for everyone.

Great experience for the price. Great for kids also. Superb staff and onstage laughter.

The shows and performers change depending on when you go. If you go to the early show, they let you stay for the one after. We saw the house team and college team. Some skits were funny, some were not. Audience participation is a big part of the show. The show is family friendly (they have an unrated one on a certain day). If you like improv, it is worth a visit. Plenty of dinner options in surrounding establishments.

Absolutely incredible deal for the quality. Theres a rotating cast, new material every time, and a cute little playhouse vibe. The jokes made by the referee get stale after a while, but only after a dozen or so shows. Its worth going to that many.

Seems corny until you go. Take a date or a friend. They give beer and you are part of the show because they take your suggestions. If youre looking to make friends, take their classes it is the best. I forgot my student ID 10 times in a row because I graduated already, still get the discount.

You dont realize that there is a comedy theater there. Having been it is a great stage and had a great time. Need to come back for their Friday shows.

Amazing show. Had a great time the entire 100 mins. It amazed me as to how the performers can think so quickly and make up things over the fly. Definitely worth the money. The show will be enjoyed by all age groups

Excellent place to take a date or to bring your friends or family for a night of good fun. No two shows are ever the same and there is even an unrated show Fridays at 9:45 pm for more adult type laughs. Highly recommended!!

DONT GO ON SUNDAY. Was quite a different experience than previous visits. If youre gonna charge the same prices for the B team please at least have SOME of the more seasoned cast available to help the performers out. It was so painful to sit thru!

I really like this place. They do a few different shows for a good price and have cheapish concessions and its consistently funny. Im doing their improv level 1 class and its great. 4 stars because we went last night and its an all levels show.. so since there was a 6 year old in the audience it wasnt that funny. I do like that they do clean shows but not to the extent of a kids level show. I know for the future to just go to the unrated show at 2145 on friday to avoid this aspect.

NCT is a great venue for a group gathering. Each show is unique, so it never gets old! And the show is invariably hilarious, with plenty of audience participation. Be sure to go to the late show for more adult themes and vocabulary.

2 drink minimum. Drinks were over priced but luckily we saw a deal at the front! Came here Friday night with a girl friend, it was packed and luckily we got a high top! Id say come in early if you want a good seat. The comedians were funny. It was a good time.

I came here a couple days ago to see a show after dinner. The seating was fairly okay and the overall theater was pretty nice looking. The games they played were very funny, although there were some mediocre periods in each one. However, the amount of very funny moments made up for this. The theater also had concessions that were priced reasonably for a theater. The performers definitely tried their best but the show had a vibe similar to Whos Line is it Anyway? where the game isnt too serious, which I very much liked. Altogether, very fun night.

Absolutely hilarious. Bring your significant other, bring your friends, hell... even bring your mom. You will always walk away extremely impressed by NCT.

Super funny and family friendly if thats something important to you. Very accommodating to guests with wheelchairs. Concessions are a little pricey but thats to be expected.

The actors are fantastic and so witty and fun. It is always so impressive how they are so spontaneously creative. The best improv I have been to that is consistently good. Teens love it, adults love it. The pub is next door but if you dont have time they also serve bottled beer and popcorn. I used to take visitors and family here when they would visit and its almost always a good show. Dont be shy! Remember to shout out suggestions for the actors as that is half the fun.

Cannot recommend enough! This company has existed for awhile and delivers every time! Thursdays are special, long form improv which is a fantastically unique experience. Friday through Sunday is what you would expect from a traditional improvisation troupe! Come alone, bring a date, or bring friends; either way, youre going to enjoy yourself.

Prices are reasonable and this is great fun for the whole family. The players really look like they enjoy what they do and it adds fun to the show. I go every time I am in San Diego

Visited NCT on a weekend getaway to San Diego on 10/17/15. Trolley took me from my hotel to within 2 blocks of show. Jessica and Sacha were the talented team captains on this night. From the introductions to the finish I was entertained. The show was really amazing and really creative. Perfect for family or date night. Wish my town had something similar as laughter is really good medicine. Price is more than reasonable for the entertainment value.Mike

Weve been here so many times, I cant even count. If not with parents, we prefer to go to NCT(unrated). All of the performers are hilarious ! Of course the segments they play are funny but the actors bring their own humorous/relatable personalities to the stage, and that adds flavor to the entire performance. They also offer classes if someone is interested in learning improv or stand-up comedy. A must visit if youre in San Diego !

Lots of great acts and a really great evening

This is a fun show. Like most improv they take audience suggestions. We went for a Thursday night show where they did a long form musical. It was a lot of fun. My date was amazed!

I cannot say enough about this hometown comedy feel good establishment. Every minute was a welcoming joy of laughter. Who else can say they tool their 4 & 7 year old kids to a live comedy show and laughed through and through...the wife and kids too. Great job everyone at NCT !

Went here with my wife to celebrate my birthday. The show was great, appropriate for children and adults, staff was friendly. Will absolutely go back again.

A great place for fun

We loved this place! We visited San Diego with another couple and this was one of the best things that we done. It was hilarious and great value. I would highly recommend it to anyone!!

I have gone 4 times and each time is different from the last. Lots of fun interactive games that the comedians play against each other. Definitely worth the price!

Very fun evening with the comedy troupe. Each of the performers was amusing, skilled, and played off of the audience and one another with fun in mind.

Our group ranged in age from 11 to 79 and the show was welk suited to all age groups. It was very funny and well done.

Went to a show on a Wednesday. Our first time going and didnt know what to expect. And it was fantastic. The comedians were all great.

National Comedy Theatre does Improve based on suggestions from you - the audience. Every show is unique. And comedy is clean so it is suitable for all ages. Parking, however, is quite challenging unless you valet with the resturant downstairs.

Great, clean fun for older kids and adults. The shows are really funny and clever. Definitely worth the price of a ticket--about the same as a movie. We go frequently. Check out the classes for teens, too.

We love this show, we make it there every time we go to San Diego.

My wife and I went here on a Thursday night for a cage match where two teams of comedians competed against each other in improv comedy. Each team acted out roughly three improv games, and at the end the audience chooses who the winner was. We had a small audience that night (less than 20 people), but we still had a blast. Audience members needed to be involved to keep the show entertaining and the host for the night did a good job to ensure that happened.

A fun night out, but not something I would do frequently. More fun in groups of course, but good as a couple.Its kinda like the show Whos line, but not exactly...kinda their own flare on it.

I had a blast here for my birthday and even was chosen to participate in the show! The cast was great and the show was very well run...Id definitely go back!

Weve been going here off and on for years. My wife even set up a surprise party performance for me at our house with these guys (yes, you should do this!). Its always different and usually funny, sometimes hysterically so. Improv at its best!

Comedy is a cheap date. NCT is all improv which can be a lot of fun as opposed to the standard stand up bits. It can be a blast to see comedians think on their feet. But, like any skill, sometimes there are off days, so come with an open mind.

Ive been to several comedy improv shows and this was by far the worst of all. Not only could the actors find nothing funny or entertaining to act/speak about, but they were clearly beginners who havent had much stage or comedy experience. The audience struggled to stay energized and focused on the performance because of the poor acting and the lack of entertainment.For example, two performers were supposed to act out a scene in Paris, but they could find nothing to talk about other than baguettes and the language barrier. Another topic was adopting an elephant. Although there are several possible ways to make this situation/scene hold-your-sides hilarious, these actors could find none. One actress was particularly unskilled and could not even complete successfully the hosts instructions. Very disappointing and a struggle to sit through. I would not recommend this over-priced, disappointing bunch of amateur entertainers to anyone.

Probably biased because I was part of their Sunday Company, but a great group of genuinely nice and extremely funny people. youll leave with your sides hurting from laughter from a wide variety of improv shows and classes they offer
