I took improv class about a year ago and six levels later, I have now graduated and it seems my improv journey will keep on going. Just because you graduated, it doesnt mean its over. They continuesly offer you room to grow, from different kinds of classes: clown, musical and workshops on many different topics. The instructors, teachers are tops of their games and always willing to share their knowledge and experience. Very supportive environment and community. From Wednesday to Saturday, they offer different kinds of show. They have their own house teams, but they also always welcome the indie team to perform as well even offering coaching sessions. Signed up for Finest City Improv was really one of the best decision Ive ever made.

I loved it. It reminds me of the Sacramento Comedy Spot. The 3 main differences were: Finest City doesnt currently sell beer (cans), you pay for each show individually, and when they interviewed their guest, they brought them back to the stage 2 more times throughout the set. This particular guest was part of a local acapella group and her group performed a few songs after the comedy show. Totally recommend this place!

Absolutely awesome! Wonderful teachers, fun shows and amazing classes. Accepting to all. As a local resident, I feel proud to have them in Hillcrest. They have a contagious cool vibe even when youre just walking by. All the teachers are friendly and talented, but theres something special about Gary. The company is run by exceptional people, too. Highly recommended. If an Improv class in on your bucket list, you want to improve your speaking/performance skills, or you just want to meet people and have fun in a unique environment, you will not be disappointed here!

The place was very cozy and welcoming. A nice and small environment to feel part of the action at every moment. The performances were good and the improv was driven to the fullest. Acting, singing, dancing, pure good comedy, and more. If you are looking for a break and to see something different, you should visit this place and experience it for yourself

I have seen a few groups from there and was impressed enough to sign up for the free trial class! I know two crazy kids who play there and I recommend it for a fun cheap night if you need a place to check out of normalville. Snacks and drinks for sale. Parking mostly costs but not hard to find. Places to eat after shows nearby too. Mature content sometimes but immature audiences always welcomed!

Looking for a great evening? Check out Finest City Improv. Improv is like no other comedy. Its spontaneous and hilarious! The performers are funny and fearless. Ive also had the pleasure of attending their classes which are the best. The instructors are the actual show performers and give you great direction and support. Not sure if Improv class is for you? Check out the drop in class on Thursdays. For $10 you will have a great experience and it includes admission to the evening show. You will have a blast!

I have been attending classes here for 11 weeks, first Level I and now Level II.I also attend the Thursday night Drop-In classes and occasional performances by the many ensemble casts. The instructors are wonderful, seasoned veterans of theater and Improv. The course curriculum is spot on, hitting material both relevant and skill building. Drop Ins, facilitated by adjunct staff, is a special joy since Ive met many new people and very accomplished instructors. This organization is the best around...a great group.

Ill start by saying Im not a professional improv critic and know that every night can be different with improv. That being said, I have also been to improv more than 20 times across the country and this was by far the worst show I have ever seen.We went to the ~7pm show on 1/19. Wish I could give more details about the group but there were no introductions so I have no idea who was even performing.1. It seems like the venue is new to them. Its honestly not great for a show as its essentially an old store front and not the more ideal darkish room that youd expect to see any comedy show in. It was easy to check in and find a seat. Plenty of snacks but no alcohol as they are working on it. We were hopeful that it meant they had some coming for the show but we ended up leaving too early to find out since the show was so bad.2. The show was just flat out not funny. Within the first half, there were maybe a handful or random chuckles at best throughout the crowd. Everyones sense of humor is different, sure, but the room was dead. If you were watching the crowd youd think it was a poetry reading more than an improv show.3. On top of that, there was no set context for the show at all. The host just jumped into it with no format other than seemingly trying to make up a story about a date/bad date? Literally every improv show Ive been to gives a little speach about what improv is and then before each little act they set some context as to the format. Not once did this happen and even being stone cold sober, we had no idea what was going on.4. Honestly, it might have been out of desperation at but, I started to be offended by where the show was going at one point before we walked out. Before we left, all the comedians were using southern accents (for no story specific reason) and started throwing F-bombs left and right as that sort of got a few laughs from the audience. We are not from the south and often curse like sailors ourselves but this all just seemed desperate and childish at best.In short, it seems like most of the reviews are for classes people have taken to learn how to improv and not actually reviews of their shows here. Maybe it was a bad night and they are working out how to have shows in their new location but avoid this place at all costs for now. We had a great time in Old Town at that improv show, just go there.

Updated review: Im now up to Level 5 classes and regularly come to shows to LOL, ROFL, and hone the craft. The community here is seriously supportive — improv can be a nerve-wracking endeavor and you never feel any judgment from teachers, performers, or the crowd. As an attendee of shows Im always laughing and enjoying the top-notch performers!

A great selection of shows Thursday through Sunday. Cheap ticket prices and cheap drinks. They also offer classes and workshops. Ive found the classes to be an excellent way to meet new people and subdue my anxieties. The highlight of my times at FCI was taking a workshop taught by The Thrilling Adventure Hours very own Craig Cackowski.

Funny, non-stop, high-energy shows! As a student, Ive found the teaching to be down-to-earth, hands-on, & approachable... with a gem rarely found: stage time! Students are encouraged to participate in teacher-led shows -- hard to find that experience anywhere else.
