Absolutely terrific time during the holiday zoo lights. A light and music show every 15 minutes. Meeting Santa, great merch, even got to roam and hear the lions roaring. Only thing stopping it from a 5 star rating is they closed down the hippo area without putting up any signs except by the door. That means you walk through the rhino and elephant area.... just to walk all the way back to exit the zoo. A little rough on the kids. Wish they had put up some signs further out warning us.

Came here with my Girlfriend on a weekday, was not busy at all!Being from California I only have the LA zoo to compare this too, I must say the SA zoo is actually quite big! About 1/4 to half the size of the LA zoo.Overall though there was plenty to see and do! Spent a good hour or 2 there and had a great time! It was nice to see the elephants and giraffes up close, reminded me of LA :)Definitely a great place to just walk around and have a nice time, saw plenty of familes there as well! A lot of the food places are closed but some are scattered around here and there.Give it a try! Wont be disappointed!

Had an amazing time at the zoo today. We used the family deal that includes four tickets + lunch. It really was a great value for a family. Plus, the burgers were delicious. We thoroughly enjoyed the animal exhibits and were pleasantly surprised at the variety of animals they had. Our only issue was that the zoo layout is incredibly confusing. There arent that many maps displayed throughout the property and there doesnt really seem like a logical way to go through it without missing something or backtracking. Regardless, we had an amazing time, and the holiday lights were a bonus.

We visited the zoo this Saturday afternoon..it was extremely hot 100° but it was worth going to celebrate our sons b-day. We actually got the Family of 4 funday pass for $69.99 that includes a meal, admission for the zoo and souvenir cup. The burgers and fries were surprisingly good definitely worth getting! Happy to park in their new indoor garage that was free! Some of the animal exhibit were empty. They have alot of birds thou. We love the Hippo exhibit, carousel, and reptiles house. Definitely take water bottles and an umbrella it will come in handy for the sun!

Zoo is clean both around the animals and the public. Had such a great day date with all the animals. Highly suggest when buying tickets to donate a few bucks to the zoo to help maintain keeping a good environment for all the animals. When doing that, they let you pick what area your donation goes to and give you a cool bracelet. For example, we donated to the reptiles and received a cool reptiles bracelet. Will definitely be back!

We love going to zoos when we travel so we made sure to stop by the San Antonio zoo. It wasn’t the most amazing zoo we have ever been to but it was fun and had lots to see. They didn’t have paper maps, only a QR code to scan for an online map and it was straight GARBAGE. It was very hard to orient yourself and figure out what direction you needed to go. It was clean though and we had a good time. Would recommend checking out if you like going to the zoo!

The San Antonio Zoo is a very pretty zoo! I would rank it up there with the Nüremburg Zoo in Germany. I couldnt believe that such a nicely hidden gem could be found...RIGHT off of the highway!! Even though they had alot of stuff roped off too keep people back, my family and I were still able to enjoy every part of the zoo! There was slight wait for the gift shop but can be understandable, it isnt the biggest, but whos going to the zoo for the gift shop?! Wait for the food at the main food court was the longest wait we had...but walking in behind 15-20 other people and still only having a 12-15 min wait...not bad at all... all of this on a Saturday! Overcast and high of 78° - Perfect -

Overall the visit was pretty good for the price. Many of the animal habitats look run down. I did like the fact that the animals are somewhat closer to you than your typical zoo. My boyfriend and I are from Fort Worth, and we go to the Fort Worth zoo all the time, but San Antonio is a gorgeous zoo with plenty of great exhibits! The layout was nice, the animals looked happy, and it was very clean. Being able to pet the kangaroos was so cool! I didnt run across a single zookeeper or any staff that werent nice and helpful. Ok so compared to zoos from other cities even in Texas, the SA zoo feels small and not as great but honestly what they have to offer is still pretty good. It’s hell in the summer time but the rest of the year it’s really nice going. The parking can be tight at times because it is so popular. The prices aren’t bad at all. They have done a few upgrades the last few years so it keeps getting better. My biggest down fall is getting from the parking lot to the front gate has been not the safest trip because of the cars. I really wish they would just close the street off to cars. I’ve almost been hit by people not paying attention.

Great zoo, especially the herpetarium. One of the most impressive viper collections Ive ever seen. Signs are down in some areas like Africa due to COVID so it may be difficult to identify some of the animals in there. Only downside Id say is that there is lots of circling around, exhibits could be better organized. Aquarium is small but very well kept. Extremely large bird collection with several aviaries and exhibits throughout the zoo. Nice crocodilian collection with Gharials and Tomistoma outdoors. Theres also an area where you can interact with Kangaroos in the Australia section for $8. Plenty of activities for children, several places to eat, including a unique area where you can eat overlooking the rhinos, giraffe feedings, bug room, good mammal collection (no apes though) and overall a very well kept and clean zoo. Loved this zoo, cannot recommend the herp enough especially.

This place was great except the security guard which I caught a photo of was being weird he kept following us and asking staff if tgey were okay. And if they felt like there was danger. Our family has mask on like evetyone else. My husband is Puerto Rican and dark complected. He walked in to where the diffrently birds were kept and the security guard only walked up to him and asked that we take the stroller outside which carried my grandbabies. And we has absolutely no problem even though there were four other strollers and people with no mask. The security guard only told us not to mention there were no sign saying no strollers allowed like all the other places. Well this guard followed us thru most of the zoo. We still had a wonderful time I just wish we didnt have to experience that with the security guard. I didnt know who to speak with I was alil afraid being that I had the whole family there so we left early. But we still had a wonderful time.

The San Antonio Zoo is military, veteran and family friendly. It was the perfect place to take a toddler to run, walk and explore for the day. Even so, we failed to see every exhibit because the zoo has so much to offer. The Animals all seem happy and well cared for. The staff was passionate about what they do and we even think that the food was good for being a zoo. For lunch, we ate at a zoo cafe, where American style food was served such as burgers and chicken baskets. It was perfect. Everything was perfectly cooked and Robert, the cook behind the scenes even asked how our meal was while he was on break. Another important thing to mention is that this zoo is pretty clean considering the foot traffic it gets each week/weekend.

I have always loved zoos and the San Antonio one I really enjoy. For my birthday one year, my husband and I did the beastly breakfast (additional cost to the regular admission fee). There was an all you can eat breakfast spread to enjoy. Then we each were given 3 leaves of lettuce to feed the giraffe. Love feeding them and getting photos taken. For my birthday last year, my generous neighbor gifted my husband and I annual passes! We had gone during Zoo Lights which was fun and rode the camel for an extra fee.For Memorial Day, I was looking forward to seeing the koalas visiting from San Diego Zoo. Before we saw them, I really enjoyed the different cats of the world. We also saw the visiting kangaroos in the petting area. For $8 per person, you can go and play with them. We saw the hippos for the first time. They were both sleeping soundly in the water against the glass.
