I found this place to be its okay for a one visit, but not best for repeat visits. The trails were rocky and stumpy. Not stroller freindly. The exhibits were okay nothing Wow. The main attraction could have been the crude basement of a home stead with a root cellar. The stone walls throughout the property couldve easily been part of a homestead. Not exactly a place for kids. There were restrooms, but they were okay. Picnic tables on site.
An enchanting place full of New England history. We enjoyed a nice family hike through the trails finding all of the sites there were to see along the way, the mobile app is very informative and is like having your own personal tour guide. Nice little day trip for people of all ages, and not too far away from other amenities.
This is an amazing place. We download their self tour app, (highly recommended) for detailed site information and stories. The staff are not only very helpful but are also a wealth of information and stories about this Active archeology site. And to top it off, a family of Alpacas! A hidden gem and must see.
Alpacas and mystery...Im in! We had a surprisingly good time here. We werent sure what to expect but there really is something powerful about the land there. How long have the structures been there, its hard to tell....its a mystery! They give you a map that describes what each number board is along the way which made it even more fun. It felt like Summer Camp again! I enjoyed the nostalgia. THANKS Americas Stonehenge. Ive got a few friends who want to visit now so well be back!
This place has some great views and is really interesting. I loved the paper handout but it doesnt give a lot of details regarding the markings on the ground, although I didnt download the app like they said to at the front desk. It is a good hike and interesting to read about.
Very cool. Nice relaxing walk around in the woods. The main site is really cool and you can go inside some of the structures.
If you have extra time, its a simple/fun date idea. Theres not much to the actual attraction but if you let your mind wonder and just enjoy the moment the atmosphere here will support you.
It is an interesting place. It is worth the 13 dollar entry. Be careful walking the paths, lots uneven rocks and roots. You can download the app and listen while walking. Interesting information.
One of my favorite hidden gems! Such a tranquil environment plus you actually get to learn something! Plan on spending at least an hour but could easily spend 3 or 4.
The trails here were great. My partner and I took our two and seven year old sons and we had a great time walking the trails and learning the history. I would not recommend taking a stroller, the terrain was a little hard to navigate with one and the main site I left the stroller at the end to go through, there is a stroller entrance at the end if you do need one. There are also alpacas which are super cute and a dig site for the kids to find gems. Its an easy and short walk.
Very interesting place!! If you are a lover of history and science, this place is a must! Guided tour through the app was easy to use and follow.
This place is awesome! The stonework is truly amazing when you look at the size and placement of some of the stones. Its a great place for a day trip and an outdoor adventure with the whole family. Even in Covid 2020!
Educational, relaxing, spiritual and just an all around chill spot. Awesome trails, llamas, refreshingly mellow. Great trails and plenty of them, super kid friendly. If you want to know some of humanities erased history, this is a big stop.
Alot of fun with our homeschooling small group. Interesting place great walk in the woods, be sure to watch the video before going. A fun day out
This is worth the visit 100%! For all kinds. People who love history, nature walks, mysteries, etc. Check out how the people lived and the discoveries that they’ve made! You will love it!
Interesting piece of history and enjoyable short hike to main site. Cute alpaca habitat at entrance also
Quite amazing, the history and astrological significance is exactly what I expected. Not to be compared to Stonehenge in England for the size of the rocks, but, the opportunity to see such work here! Perfect
Visited mid afternoon on a pretty hit day. It was interesting to view all these rock formations. Trails were very well marked and a map and guide were provided when you arrived. I’d highly recommend it.
This was a fun and cool experience. Of course my son wanted to go because of the alpacas and not so much for the ancient rock formations, but we both had a really enjoyable time looking at everything and taking in the idea of this mysterious site. The one thing I will say is that a lot more things are chained off than appear in the pictures and some of the videos I watched before going. It looks like theres a lot of accessibility, but in reality theres not as much as youre led to believe. Still a lot of cool stuff to take in, and the chipmunk population is incredibly fearless and friendly.
Very nice walk with amazing history! Especially the Irish Monk huts!
Amazing afternoon out.Make sure to DL the app for the tour - really better experience
I have visited several times with my kids and I have always enjoyed the walk and history. Trails are maintained but people with mobility issues and strollers will not be able to travel the trails. Snowshoeing in the winter. The set up for the stones with the views are worth the hike. You can walk into small stone structures and hopefully, see the stone table that was recently vandalized by morons who are an argument for birth control. The table was still covered, though I was told that it was to protect it from moisture.Small museum and gift shop at entrance. Admission is priced reasonably.I recommend a visit.
It was pretty interesting. The definitely recommend using the audio tour. It helped us understand in detail what each part was and the significance of it. It had much more information than the written information.
For the price there wasnt much to expect here. It was slightly less interesting than I thought it would be. Its not really something I would drive way out of the way to visit if I had previously looked into further. It was just some small rock walls, and a foundation made in the 1800s.
Unlike the better-known Stonehenge, these structures are much further spread apart, requiring an easy walk to see each one. Dont know that the tour did quite a sufficient job and communicating the magnitude and significance of it all, but... If nothing else, its a nice walk.
This is a location for the family that sparks the mind to think. A place that will sit with you for days after and makes for great conversation. The staff were top notch as well.
We loved it. It was much more ingaging in real life as opposed to what the pictures looked like. The scale just cant be captured in a photograph.
Was a nice walk, highly recommend using the app and listening to the audio. There is a lot there to read, especially if reading aloud. Its not super kid friendly reading material but there are some places to go in to structures that kids were seeming to enjoy.
Amazing experience. Worth the price of admission. You can download their app and take a self guided tour. Even though its wooded I would wear sun screen.. I think it cost $13 for adult
If you like old stones, this is the place for you! Nice walking paths. Interesting history.
So amazing. The staff, history, explanations and labeling of things. We took 3 hours to walk the property. Im sad I didnt go sooner! Great outdoor COVID safe family and friends activity! Check out the Railpenny for Sunday brunch! We did it right before hand and they were socially distanced and very safe. Outdoor seating, and delicious drinks and food!
I feel this is one of the best kept secrets in NH. I never heard about it until my 30s. My husband and I went and when you get started you see a cute tomb like structure and take a bunch of pictures thinking it cant get any better than that......well BAM huge massive structures EVERYWHERE. I love how you can line up the cleared paths with certain rocks and lunar/solar lineage.
We unfortunately went on a 98* day and it was too much to spend a lot of time but are definitely going back in the fall. The gentleman who checked out our purchases was extremely nice.
Nice day and fun walk.
It was very interesting to visit here. Lots of facts and theories about the stones and their uses. The trail is easy and well marked. The map with number key to each site was super handy, but I would have liked more detailed info. Tons of bugs in summer, use the bug spray in the mailbox near the sundial before hiking. Staff is friendly and the video was helpful.
Spectacular experience for those interested in Neolithic and Bronze Age history. This site (though clearly compromised over the past 250+/- years) offers visitors the opportunity to contemplate that North America was visited and/or settled by early European peoples. This site also highlights the need for rigorous, ongoing scientific research of important archeology locations such as Americas Stonehenge. Many of theses sites remain in private ownership, were proper preservation and scholarly inquiry are not happening.
Very cool place.
Great place to go with the kids. Lots to do and see. Good for a quick trip, or to spend the day. Highly recommended.
As a NH native and history enthusiast it was only natural that I visited this place sooner or later. I first heard about it on the history channel: Historys Mysteries: American Stonehenge. This year I finally got around to seeing it myself and I wasnt disappointed. The site was expansive and there was so much to see and read. Its an adventure from start to finish. Everyone there was so friendly from tourists to the staff, it was delightful. This place is a gem and Im so thankful it has been preserved so beautifully. What a curious world we live in. Seriously, check this place out if you love history.
We went when it was covered in snow because it was a spur of the moment trip that landed us there. I cant really say it was as nice as it would have been during the summer because its hard to tell where all the rocks are and there were puddles everywhere so we couldnt really venture too far. But, it was something cool to see and explore. Theres a storefront with many nice things for purchase like candles, maple syrup, jewelry, incense, etc and they also have really cute Alpacas on site (they were hiding inside their home when we went but I dont blame them because it was COLD!). They also sell coffee, snacks, and rent snow shoes if you need them. (We didnt use them, but we also regretted that decision because the trails were hard to walk through with just simple boots). Theres a video that explains the history of the site and it was actually really educational so I recommend sitting down for the 10 minutes just to learn more about it. The site owner/manager was very friendly and inviting, too.
Great tour back in time and a beautiful walk. Be sure to take the extra 15 minute trail.
Worst place to visit ! Simple waste of time . It simply feels like a set up and everything is rebuilt. Nothing historical . Trails closed ! Don’t waste your time
We have been wanting to visit for quite some time now and we went on a fairly nice sunny day in early March. When you arrive, you will enter through the gift shop. When you pay for admission, you will then be directed to watch a short presentation of this historical site. (Definitely watch it! It is so informative!!) The price of admission is quite fair and you can either use a paper map and read along with the numbers on the site or you can download the Americas Stonehenge app and it will read each site to you and you can proceed at your own pace. It is early in the year and Im not familiar with how the trails look in the summer, but currently, the leaves are covering most of the site and some of the leaves are a bit wet so be careful when exploring! There are ramps to help people who might not be able to do stairs easily HOWEVER, this is by no means a place that is able to accommodate someone who is wheelchair bound or stroller bound. The sacrificial table was covered and Im not sure if this is a temporary thing or a permanent thing but it would be cool to see it uncovered. We look forward to visiting again in the summer.
Nice activity on a sunny day. Interesting local history. I loved it
This was awesome ... everyone should visit...very interesting and a nice day out for families!
Nice place to get out and see some prehistoric sites. Kids always love looking in the caves.
Fascinating place to visit. A prehistoric site that hides right in our backyards. I will be back for many return visits.
Cool little get away, something was going on at that place at one time, definitely feel it in the air.
Very cool place :)
Went at 10 on Sunday it was hardly anyone there. Beautiful trails, but definitely bring your bug spray.
Great place for a hike and history.
Fascinating history and structures. A decent amount of hiking and the visitor center is friendly and accessible.
Very cool spot to visit. We loved all the history and information. It was 29$ for my family of 4 (5 and under free) with a military discount. Prices are 13$ for adults, 7.50 for kids. A bit steep, but I understand they need to be able to maintain the grounds. The alpacas were my favorite.
This was such a great place to visit. The hike to the site was nice and easy. The site itself was cool. Was clearly labeled as to what everything is. The map had a great deal of information printed on it. The is an app available to give an audio tour. Will lole yo go back again. Also, they have Appacas!
Cool place to see!! A bit pricey at $26 for two adults. I did expect to see more; but still neat. You can expect to walk about 20 mins to the site, 20 mins looking around and 20 mins back. You can also branch out from the main site and spend a couple hrs hiking to each marker stone. It was an easy hike to the site, nothing required but a water. My daughters white AF1’s aren’t even scuffed
Very interesting, could only imagine what it looked liked when it was complete
You watch a short video before going to the site, dint ship it. There are some neat gift ideas in shop. Enjoyed the information, experience and the Alpacas. They sell items from the Alpacas they have on site. Cool!
The signage and background information provide a sound explanation of a civilization that had a deep understanding of astronomy. The staff are very helpful. Altogether, a fine experience in the woods with a fine trail network.
I was not expecting this place to be so huge or for there to be as much as there is. It was really interesting to walk through and feel the history. Very neat having this amazing piece of history in our backyard!
It was interesting, glad we went on a not hot day, pretty steep walking at the beginning of the trail. Loved it ️
Very interesting place
You need to read the Guide carefully or youll have NO idea what the many stone structures are.
It was very educational. Also a good hike.
Went here on the fourth of july a few years ago. to be honest, it was boring very hot, and i had a bad headache that day.
Very interesting for the curious at heart. Needs some spiffing up though. Maybe a nice cash infusion?
While not the most amazing thing ever it was nonetheless intriguing. This attraction has been tastefully set up and while the whole of it is not full on pro, I have to commend them. The history of this location cannot be denied. I would recommend a visitation.
It aligns with the summer and winter solstice and the fall and spring equinox. It also exactly aligns with Stonehenge in Salisbury U.K. to the stones that are aligned with the original Stonehenge for the summer solstice. There is a program on YouTube on Americas Stonehenge.
Cool place to visit, the alpacas are interesting creatures for sure!
Good displays and map. So interesting. Gift shop is good
Possibly the most ancient and significant ceremonial site in New England, if not the country. The last time the sun matched the alignment of the sprawling 30 acre astronomical calendar was 4,000 years ago... ignore the closed-minded opinions of others and stand within it for yourself. Highly recommended to anyone with a creative interest in human history!
We live somewhat close to here and drive by quite a bit. We decided to go in one day. It’s eh. My kids thought it was cool but for the price it’s really not all that exciting.
If you are disabled (in a wheelchair), dont bother going here.Theres no way down to the site, and it is not advertised on their website that there is no way to get there in a wheelchair
My kids and I loved it! We downloaded the app so we got information along the way... very educational and interesting! A lot of photo opportunities, not a far walk, and they liked the mini gem mining activity...
I loved this it was sooo cool its lots of fun and tons to see
Easy to follow self guided tour of the features of this site. You just wonder how in the world did they build this so long ago.
Really cool place to see. You can take small children, but its hard to navigate with a stroller. Better off with a backpack
Great piece of history, the staff was very helpful and informative, the store had really cool stuff. Great visit for adults, children and families all the same.
Cool sight if your into ancient artifacts. Well laid out path. Use the app to get an audio tour. Walk is maybe a total of 3/4 mile along mild terrain. Recommended using the app. Okay for small kids. We spent about an hour without watching the video.
Not a bad place to walk around and check out the scenery.
Thoroughly enjoyed my time here. Ignore the knickknacks in the beginning, they really detract from everything, but just keep pushing past them until you get to the numbered areas.Pretty amazing to witness, you might leave with more questions than answers, but thats not a bad thing.
So it was both kind of cool and disappointing. I didnt read up on it so I could go into it blind... it was very touristy. The history had seemed altered or manufactured.Personally, I wont go back there but Id still recommend it if you look into and read up on it.
Not life altering, but very interesting. The fact that it lines up perfectly with the Stonehenge in the UK is crazy to think about. Free parking & @ $13 a head its not bad for a couple hours of a history and archeological lesson.
Fun and interesting..gift shop was fun and staff was nice
Great place to learn and explore during home schooling.
So cool to wander around at. Beautiful site. Would definitely go back!
Good place. Lots of fun just very slippery rocks!
Summer solstice 2020
Amazing to see and realize how old it is and the relationship to Stonehenge across the ocean.
A beautiful place and amazing adventure. We took our 4 year old on February vacation and we can’t wait to go back in the summer. Absolutely gorgeous and everyone was so pleasant and kind.
Archetecutral and anthropological significance
Best and interesting place, be sure to watch the film first...bugs were horrible, we were nearly eaten alive
