Love this theater. Small and intimate. Cons - can be cold so where a layers. Also seats are low. Proper Coivd-19 protocols in place.
This place is right out of 60s San Francisco and should be a Sacramento landmark. Below the surface the food is awesome with a diverse selection of best in class.
I love coming to tower theater the service is always good, especially when you are a newer customer. Excited that Ill be able to return soon.
Great! Felt very safe with social distancing and mask rules.
Friendly staff and the social distancing was well planned out .
Great atmosphere. I went here to watch the movie parasite. Though the chairs arent as comfortable, the theater offered a vintage style vibe which made it a really nice place to go. Additionally, they also sell legit food outside. The overall vibe of the area is also a great place to go on a date.
Saw “Lady Bird”here. Lived in Sacramento way too long to not have been at this theater sooner. This is a fabulous historic venue and a great place to check out the independent films shown here. Adjacent is the eclectic Tower Cafe..... Both, not to miss if visiting Sacramento
Old theater, only 4 screens. Popcorn was good, lots of beer and even some liquor. They seem to play indie films which is nice. Worth the drive up from Stockton. Only downside is the homeless people in the parking lot. I felt nervous about leaving my motorcycle out there. But all was good when I left. Would definitely go again
Its really the only place to see most indie films in the city, and the food, beer and wine options are great. They try really hard. But theres no denying the place is run down and the parking lot is the absolute worst.
Really cool old-timey theater. It was a nice change from the big box theater with cheesy lights and decor. The only down side is the limited parking but obviously understandable given the age of the theater and location. Look forward to going back
The Tower Theatre is a classic! Going to a movie here feels extra special. Its well maintained and in the big room there is no bad seat. Great staff too!
So my friend took me to the Tower Cafe, and let me tell you, this place is the real deal! We sat outside on the patio, and felt like we were dining amid the tree tops. The ambiance was lovely. The tables are pretty close together, and I was a little concerned that we might feel crowded. No need to worry, the feeling was intimate and cozy. The wait staff were friendly, and our wait time was short. The food was delicious, and the portions generous. The reasonable pricing rounded out the experience. I give Tower Restaurant an A+
Classy old style
The movie we went to see was fabulous the theater is older there was no handrails to steps to get up to the the concession stand so I wasnt able to get anything but other than that it was nice the movie was fabulous
Went to see the Rausch und/and Craziness day 2 delayed viewing here, and it was great! It is always a pleasure visiting this theatre. The staff is very friendly, and the building has a nice atmosphere and feeling to it.
Always enjoy going to Tower Theatre! I love foreign films and this is the best place that offers them.
Very nice, older theatre in mid-town Sac. Staff is very nice and the discussion occasion movies they please are great. Certainly worth going to for the history and the surrounding area. The theatre itself could use some upgrades, but it is still very nice and the seating, while not a comfortable as some newer theatres, arent bad.
Reminiscent of the golden screen days! Lovely Art Deco theater.
Great old Sacramento landmark - this is the art-house theater with all the good stuff!
Serving beer and full bar! Best hidden gem theatre. Best selection of indie films.
Love this little theater with the old fashion red velvet seats.
Great outdoor garden, food is so so, but everyone in my party was really pleased. Service was terrific. Cappuccino sucked.
It was easy to find parking. The theater is air conditioned and we were comfortable. The show was great and something that isnt available at other theaters in the area.
Great movie selections. Theater has always had an aged, charmless and neglected vibe. But management appears to be upgrading appearance. So much unrealized potential. Parking is convenient, but layout is haphazard.
What a wonderful experience. This 1920s Art Deco theater was just a really fun date night for my husband and myself!! Thank you thank you for maintaining these wonderful Art Deco theaters
Awesome top have a good beer with your movie.
Great nostalgic theater and a Sacramento landmark well loved, but please dump the nostalgic seats which are quite a deterrent to us seeing films here more often. Also be careful of the uneven floors throughout.
Tower has always been a great place to enjoy a quality film. The lobby is always spotless and the staff is always professional and quick.
Love this venue, love any opportunity to go to an old school movie theater
First time being here. Outside looked small so I thought that the rooms will be small. Rooms are actually pretty big and is inclined.
Love the atmosphere and movie choices here!
Great staff, great snacks, and ya 24oz beers... I can DEFINITELY dig that!
A fantastic, old school theater with a friendly staff. I have been going here since the nineties, and have enjoyed the indie and classic movies they show here. It is always a fond step into the past.
Great movies, pleasant staff, old school is the good school place. Oh they have beer and samosas too. I love this place and I need to come here more often. Tonight was a movie premiere and the place is quite awesome a venue for a premiere.
Really enjoyed the experience! Good wine with real glasses, pretty good decent small plates and snacks, and the traditional movie foods. Loved it!!!!!
The only thing that could make this place better is if they would hire me
I looking thats very nice. I love beers, wine and cold sodas. Thats good food shacks. Freaking seats in the theater. Good sounds!! Next to tower cafe thats wonderful. I smell to smoke shop so very pretty.
This theatre oozes of nostalgia. It mostly plays all the indie hits.
Nostalgia to the fullest. If you are a fan of old theater aesthetics, then this is the place for you. The sound is clear with perfect views to the screen. One of my favorite places to go watch a movie . Attached to the theatre is Tower Cafe, the food is great. Best place to catch a bite to eat either before or after the show.
The Tower is a unique city theater in the Land Park area where a post opera house era theater meets modern service. Crazy dash for parking; old theater and facilities but the screens are modern and so is the service. Offering beer, wine and traditional movie snack fare, The Tower is a fun place to view a show. Come early to get parking.
We got to sit in theater 1. Beautiful indeed. They cut it down years ago but theater 1 is still as big as it was. Great ambiance
Great old theater. Good selection of beers, wine, and cocktails. They play new movies along with the classics.
I was down at the XO Lounge, having cheap good drinks.....
You used to not be able to order wine but now you can and indie movies have never been the same. (Except they have bc now I just buy wine instead of putting it in my purse like a wine filled bag pipe)
My favorite grand theater. The very best theater popcorn and ice tea.
Nice outdoor seatind and food and beer very good.
Very uncomfortable seats, especially in comparison with what other threatres offer. Bathrooms are extremely dirty and disgusting. While this place offers interesting movies, I would rather wait for the movies to be available online instead of having back problems after sitting in these chairs.
Unique selection of movies and a much more intimate experience
Thank God for the Tower. When all the other theaters are playing nothing but cartoons and super-heroes, the Tower is showing thought-provoking, well-crafted and acted films. Carry on Tower.
Everyone needs to come here at least once. It is exactly what you expect when you think of a vintage theater and we are lucky to have it here in Sacramento. They have a nice mix of popular and more obscure films. The snack bar has beer and wine and some pretty tasty food, the seats are squeaky but super soft and comfy. The parking can be formidable at certain times of day so allow a bit more time. Its worth it!
Wonderful nostalgic charm! Its from the late 1930s and shows small films and documentaries. Next to it is the famous Tower Cafe. Perfect couples night location. You cant beat the food or cinema experience (if youre into classic cinema)!! I felt my money was well-spent and will definitely be coming back for more.
Outdoors eating in the summer the settings pure heaven, so lovely and the food is light, healthy and delicious oh the service is beyond excellent. I took my Mom, brother and daughter we all had clean plates (not Mom).
This place is such a classic movie theater. My family loves to come here whenever theres a new Studio Ghibli movie playing there.
For an older theater I loved it!!
Seats are super uncomfortable. Bathroom dirty and the popcorn tasted like it was the free stuff from home depot. :/
Great theater foreign films are great
Great place to see a well made movie.
Tower Theatre is a beautiful building with amazing service from ticket purchase to concessions. And speaking of concessions they have the best ever. The movies showing here never let me down, from independent to movies that are just less popular in the mainstream theaters. The ONE drawback is how steep the steps are in auditorium #1. But compared to all the other major pluses, this is something I can get over.
This is a historic theater so it is a bit lacking in modern comforts but its still a nice place to watch a movie. Comfort is a bit lacking as it is an older place and some of the smaller movie screens and seating areas are narrow. I like that they tend to show the smaller, less mainstream films and special events/screenings though.
Its a great landmark for Sacramento. If youre looking to see the latest indie or art house film, Tower Theatre is the place to look!
It was classic. We had good popcorn and nice soft drinks. Nice big screen, beautifully old fashioned
Old and not the cleanest. Classic and kind atmosphere. Full bar and good snacks. Comfortable chairs.
This theater has great movie selection, the seats are comfortable but not like the bigger theaters. It’s in a good location too.
Great movies. Love going there!
I will never pre-pay at this theater again. Had to stand outside in the freezing rain just to get it scanned. I figured since it was paid I could skip the line but oh no, might as well just showed up. Then I couldve just left without hassling for a refund and not getting one.
As soon as you walk in the Tower Theatre, you step into a different time. It feels as though little has changed here since the 50s, giving the place an charming, slightly delapidated feel. You can enjoy a relax and enjoy a beer with your movie for a about the same price of a larger theatre. There is also a better selection of indi films and special events on their docket. This place is an experience. Highly recommend.
The Tower Theater is a bit older but they have discounted senior pricing ($7.50 tickets) & a decent craft beer selection!
Excellent parking, venue for and historical movie theater. The food and cocktails where amazing! Le6rs not forget why I choose this theater Trust Love All The Way great movie.
Good Art Theater, with two great restaurants and bars.
I like the Tower Theatre in Sacramento. It was amazing. :)
Great milieu, great movies. Plus you can have breakfast, lunch or dinner at the Cafe!
Its a nice one school theater with good prices. The audio quality could be better of course. Its really unique with some of the films it shows and special events they have. Its cool sometimes they will reshow movie from the year before like get out. An overall quality place to catch a movie.
Accidentally watched Parasite and its now my favorite movie!
Great old style theater...
I saw Moonlight here a while back with a friend of mine, which was quite a moving experience. Beautiful old theatre with lots of character. Tends to show more artsy/independent/international films if thats your speed. Its nice to balance that against the typical Hollywood blockbuster schtick from time to time.
Beatiful historic landmark. Low ticket prices and friendly service. Also they now serve alcohol
Tower shows a lot of art-sy movies. The ones not shown by the large theater chains.Art deco theater. Unfortunately, it is difficult to see the building because of the overgrowth of plantings for Tower Cafe.Interior has not been updated for a long time.
Nice venue for off beat but good movies.
This is a historic theater. Support your locally theater and watch an art house indie flick. We need places like this to survive and thrive to keep the identify of the city.
Love this gorgeous theater built in 1938. It doesnt have reclining seats or folks who serve you dinner while you watch the movie but she is Grand in an old fashioned way. The folks who work there are very kind and helpful, too.
Older theater, so dont go in comparing it to Regal or Cinemark. Quaint and amazing! They serve snacks and real food, beer, wine and liquor. You can take your drinks into the theater to watch the movie. Excellent craft beer selection! Track 7 brews (Panic and Left Eye Right Eye), Hoptologist, 808 and more. Parking is free. Everyone is very friendly. One of my favorite places to go see a movie!
Quaint theatre. seats could be more comfortable. Good place to disconnect and enjoy a good film
I love the movies I can see here
Reminds me of the old style Theatres. Alwayshowss
A Sacramento treasure! I love seeing movies here! Old School, classic layout. Staff is always kind, discounts are awesome (student & senior!), and now GREAT wine & beer options. Come early on busy days, the parking lot services several businesses, so it can get busy!
Old-school theater with delicious popcorn
Seating has been upgraded from last time I was there but still narrow leg room. Bathroom still same - only one dispenser had paper towels; staff still laid back -ticket window didnt open for 11 am showing until almost 11. $7 for 1st showing; $7.50 for seniors, so a little higher than Regal or Century but old theater feel. Go see Lady Bird!!!
Great movie house showing only Classic Movies. Plus there is a small Cafe
Great classic venue with nice gardens and stuff out front
I love coming to this theatre. Its a cool piece of Sacramento history and I appreciate the student discount.
I couldn’t wait to take my 94 year old mother to the movies this morning. I ordered tickets online so we wouldn’t have to wait. She doesn’t get out often so it was a treat for her. Although the parking was horrible and she had to walk or rather hobble into the theatre, I had to look for an attendant to use the lift because there weren’t hand rails to help the disabled could walk up stairs. When I finally located an attendant to assist up, she looked puzzled and replied that a key was needed. She explained to me that they didn’t have a key and called 2days ago but no one had come yet! Please Tower Theatre management, a simple sign that would alert the elderly or disabled persons not to come when your lift is down, is an obligation you owe.
