Great soundBut...not dance friendlyNeeds more room and an acceptance from securityThe band is high enough so patrons are bothering the musicians. There is always 1 or 2 fools who break through and end up on stage with muscians.Ultimately blowing it for the rest of us who just wanna DANCE AND LAUGHEspecially when Elvin is in town.Yhea!!!!!!!!!#Old school# Party till the Cows come home#Hog Heaven#Goood old days#HES MY DOG HES A GOOD OLD DOG#AND THEYRE STILL NOT DONE #BLUES CRUISE 2021
Absolutely beautiful theatre. We attended the Tiffany Jenkins show, and all of the staff were wonderful, very courteous and helpful. We appreciated and enjoyed the selection of refreshments provided, the mixed drinks were fantastic, and the bathrooms were spacious and surprisingly clean, considering the full house attending. The auditorium was wonderfully lit, and the only complaint we had was that the leg room was very narrow, and everyone had to constantly get up and shuffle around whenever someone was getting up or sitting down. However, there was an excellent view of the stage, we could see everything clearly from where we sat in the HH row.
Mandy Moore show was decided to be cancelled completely after postponding it. We also received an email about 3 options (refund, donate and save for future show), we selected a Refund thru EVENTBRITE app, chose contact organizer too for the refund and sent emails but no ond responded. Tixel sent out an email about it and we again selected a refund option. NOTHING IS COMING UP! Also the Refund option within my ticket on eventbrite is all grayed out so you cant even click on it! No clear instruction on how things are going to be refunded too!
Lack of communication regarding cancelled show. It has been over a month and a half since we received notice that Tig Notaro was cancelled and were told to choose what we wanted to have done with our tickets. Refund chosen but not received. Have messaged The Crest as well as Tixel to inquire as to what the hold up is. No response received.Resorted to negative reviews on all of their pages in hopes of actually receiving a response and refund.
Such a cute theater. They play good oldies and have a good process in getting you in quickly. Chairs are pretty comfy. Good concessions. Good location for getting drinks and food but hard to find parking. Light rail does stop right in front so recommend you take that if its an option for you!
Excellent location, awesome movie, great staff, really enjoyable place.
I absolutely love this majestic, historic theatre. The decor and lighting are beautiful and charming. They show a range of classic and more modern films as well as having amazing concerts, talks, and other events. There even is a quaint restaurant right inside the building. The Crest Theatre is a Sacramento gem. Check out the monthly calendar. I certainly do!!
Ive been enjoying the Crest for many years for concerts, but a another great reason is for the movies! Keep an eye on the schedule, and you might find one of your favorite old movies that you havent seen for years is up on the big screen in its full glory. There is also the beautiful antique decor all around and you can feel the history of Sacramento. On the downside, nowadays we are accustomed to big cushy reclining seats when we go to a modern theater so its pretty cramped when youre squeezing into a tight row 10 or 15 seats in. They serve alcohol during concerts and movies, but the serving area is tiny and manned by just two people. Often the line to order is so ridiculous that Ill just walk past it and forget about it. Miss a half hour of the show for a beer, forget it. They could easily fix this problem by just setting up a second stand to pour the beer and wine. Why not serve twice as many people? Im convinced that they lose 50% to 80% of their potential alcohol revenue by insisting on having such a tiny serving area. I dont get it. But overall, that doesnt ruin my night, and I give it four stars. Have a drink or two at the Empress downstairs, before the show, problem solved!
Such a beautiful, historic theater! It gets warm in the summer, I recommend attending in the cooler months. You are unexpectedly taken back in time when you walk through the doors, its a wonderful experience for children or for a laid back date. Everyone should see a show at this theater at least once.
Im not gonna lie, I had a really good time at this event. Miranda Sings was hilarious! She was on time, funny throughout the entire show and the atmosphere inside was family oriented...However with that being said, the area of the Crest Theater has gone downhill bad! There were homeless people sleeping on the sidewalks with all their belongings, garbage along the gutters that smelled so bad my daughter and I could barely get out of the car without holding our breathe. The alley ways had personal belongings scattered everywhere. My 13yr old was scared...The restaurant we went had nice people, but it was very run down. The seats were stained badly and the vinyl was peeling and cracking. The carpets were just as bad. If Sacramento wants to hold events geared towards families or kids, they need to clean up their act a bit... I used to love coming here..
Ive been to Crest Theatre three times so far (twice to see Colin Hay, and once for Blue October), and I love it! The decor is beautiful, the sound is amazing, the whole vibe is nice. I see a lot of people eating popcorn and snacks. I cant bring myself to do that during a concert so far, though. Maybe if I see a movie someday. Haha The staff is helpful, and very nice. I really cant think of a bad thing to say about Crest, except the parking situation isnt fun or easy. However, thats more of a city thing, and not their fault. Id recommend this theater most definitely!
Love the old theater. Grew up going there and love the restoration. Womens restroom still too small to accommodate. Theater auditorium still great. Saw Paul Reiser. Very funny. Enjoyable experience. I look forward to attending something there again!
This theatre is architecturally beautiful and a must see for everyone! I would definitely go there again for the cult classic films and fun atmosphere, although technology will not be the strong point, the feeling of comraderie while watching a vintage or iconic film is a great experience! Support this historical theatre wholeheartedly, it is a Sacramento treasure!
This little gem of a place gets some really great bands and entertainment. It’s nice having a venue like this close by. Plenty of great restaurants nearby and parking is easy. I’ve been there many times. Comfy seats and they have a snack bar too.
Lovely place. Old time feel, and yet, modern. Very beautiful inside. The ceilings are amazing. We went for a concert. Brian Seltzer. It was amazing. The seats are a bit uncomfortable. The stairs are a bit odd. One big, one small,,one big one small. Watch your step! They have a nice concession stand. Candy, popcorn, soda. The usual. I guess they play movies here when not in use for concerts? Fun and cute place. We enjoyed it. Lots of things around it. Restaurants and bars. Have a nice dinner, watch a show, then a drink after. All in one location.
I have always enjoyed concerts at this venue. It has great acoustics and provides for a more intimate setting; however, there is much needed cleaning. The carpet in the theater is in need of vaccuming and shampooing. The carpet is absolutely filthy and the floors need cleaning. Would have given 4 stars. Clean up!!
Weve been to the Crest Theater twice; once for a music and once for stand up comedy show. The theater is really nice and has a lot of ambiance with comfortable old school movie theater seats. The building itself is beautiful inside. Acoustics were excellent for both music and spoken word and views are good from main floor to the balcony which is really just further away from the stage. There is a public parking garage one block away and the Empress Tavern is underneath the theater. If you have dinner and/or drinks (great bar) at the Empress you can enter the theater from the restaurant.
I really enjoy going to Crest. Its a grand old style of theater that is getting more rare these days. I have seen a podcast comedy show here and have been to a play on a field trip with my kids school. They were both fun experiences. One tip to point out for the ladies: the bathroom is on the smaller size for such a big theater so give yourself plenty of time, but there is a huge powder room with mirror for you to check your makeup
What a beautiful theater. Step back in time. Lovely. Its vintage charm will win your heart. We had a lovely time.A few heads up.Bathrooms are small as are the seats, think airline cheap seats. The accoustics seemed good, though we saw Randy Rainbow versus a concert.Theater allows beverages in the seats. A nice touch. Though tight seats and no cup holders could lead to spills. The Crest Cafe, next door, was perfect light fair before our show.
This place has awesome movies playing through October for Halloween! Although the snack bar could use some help with better options, and bar closes kinda early. They also have some great shows, just wish their ticket booth was open more.
Seen Puddles here and it was an amazing Venue!
Historic, ornate, art deco theater in downtown Sacramento. The main auditorium isnt vast so there really isnt a bad seat in the house from which to view the stage and screen - just dont expect to sit in luxury loungers here.
The Crest Theater was awesome! My daughter and I went there to see Jesse Cook, and the show was absolutely amazing. Since this is a movie theater, I was a little leery about watching a live show there, but I need not have worried. The sound was crisp and clear and the venue was very intimate and allowed you to really feel like you were part of the the show. There is plenty of parking in the surrounding area, and we chose the City Hall parking garage which was very reasonably priced and well lit on the walk back to it. We would DEFINITELY come here again for another concert!
Looks like old theater but has character inside unlike new ones. Liked it. Quality sound
Great place to visit, and enjoy one of their many different shows! Truly historic. The venue is always clean, and the staff is very helpful. They have a snack bar, and soda fountain. They have popcorn, candy, and ice cream. They do serve alcohol during some of their events, and have security as well. Very safe!
We just had our wedding at The Crest Theater. This was the absolute best venue for our wedding and reception. The ownership was incredibly accommodating to our needs, staff were incredibly pleasant and did everything they could to ensure that our day was amazing. The crest made for amazing photographs without the need for a lots of decorations. Weve seen many shows and concerts at the Crest, never been disappointed. The wedding solidified this place as one of our favorites in downtown Sacramento!
Beautiful old theater! Sound is spectacular and seating isnt super tight. Theres plenty of parking too close by.
Okay ish venue, seats are too close. Full house for the Kirk Franklin concert and combine that with a poor A/C system caused the venue to be pretty uncomfortable. Despite that, beautiful interior design and historic feel.
I have attended two concerts in this theater, and each was a very different experience.1) Estas Tonne: Acoustic guitar musician. Although I think the theaters acoustics are not the best, in this case it created a nice ambiance and I consider it a wonderful experience.2) Sons of Apollo: Amplified electric guitar, bass, keyboards and drums. The volume was a absurdly loud which was particularly annoying given the reverberation of the theaters closed architecture. Moreover, the sound was not properly equalized, and some instruments would completely overshadow others, mainly the vocals. I regret not bringing earplugs, after two weeks my ears are still ringing (permanent hearing loss). I was really looking forward to this concert, but it was a painful experience. This is just not the right place to host this type of concerts.
Awesome bldg, with great performances.
Didnt seem to be too impressed by the Crest Theater tonight. Dont get me wrong I hade an amazing night with Michael W Smith. First of all the bathroom is way out dated and didnt seem to have restrooms in didnt areas just 1 location and the toilets are really low to the ground. The other thing was there didnt seem to have anyone around to help people get to their seats or find them. Very difficult to read and understand the letters and numbers on the seats. I was also very unhappy about going upstairs with no type of railing or anything to hold onto in case of a fall. I cant believe that you dont have anything like that and how do you expect people especially older people or people that have mobility issues to not have something like that in place. When upon leaving the theater I was standing behind a couple of older ladies and walked down with them and I just happened to notice that they almost feel a couple of times. It was a good thing I was right near by. It really needs a makeover.
Great concert venue! Excellent sound and visibility everywhere. Classic movie theater environment, comfortable seats.
Went to see Howard Jones! Great show and venue. Seats are a little small but still a great place to see a show!
Ive seen many shows at the Crest, and plan on seeing many more. Its a great venue, a classic ornate theater that feels intimate. Were lucky to have this special place here in Sacramento for touring artists to play when they come through town.
Pros: the architecture is beautiful, with high vaulted ceilings and beautiful gold inlays and detailing; they often hold screenings for older classics or screenings you cant find elsewhere. Cons: seating is dated and uncomfortable, especially for larger people; no discounts on popcorn refills -- you have to buy another tub.
Such an incredible night in one of the most beautiful theatres in Sacramento. Beatles extravaganza by SPMA Guitar Project, which included a 40 piece orchestra.
Its a theater but its a great concert venue. No bad seats, sound is great and many choices of music and styles.
Great place for a venue... Im a big guy tho. 6-2 225lbs so I found the seats to be a little small but its a beautiful place.
Quirky little jewel in our crown! Check frequently for upcoming events because some really interesting shows come through the Crest. Theres a full bar and its always a good vibe.
Not a bad seat in the house. I saw the Indigo Girls there on 27Jun2018, and we were in row LL on the left side. The theatre is small enough to where I didnt feel like I was too far away. I had been to the Crest for movies a couple times in college (about a hundred years ago), but this was my first concert there. The theatre itself is beautiful, and worth a visit just to have a look.Ive seen some people complain about the bathrooms, so I was prepared to avoid them, but decided to go before I headed home. They werent bad at all, Im not sure why the complaints. There are only 6 stalls, but they were clean and the line moved quickly. The people working the snack counter were friendly (I bought water... Didnt buy alcohol, so I cant speak for the bar staff). We paid for parking ahead of time using the SacPark website, and paid only $5 to park in the Capital Garage, which is basically right across the street. Easy peasy, would do again. It took about half an hour to get out of the garage at the end of the night, because of all the other concert-goers, but that was to be expected.I would definitely return to see other acts here!
Saw Monty Python and the Holy Grail tonight. The Crest Theatre is absolutely beautiful and charming. The ambiance never disappoints.
Awesome classic theater. Its like stepping back in time.
The best place to see all kinds of great shows. It is a historic building with lots of cool history to go along with it
I was here for the Weird Al concert. Lovely small venue for a concert or movie. The seats are a little small, however. The staff is friendly and accommodating.
One of my favorite local venues... concerts or movies not a bad seat in the house
It was very nice. But the setting was not very comfortable. They are small sets and very close together. So if you are a larger person you make not find them comfortable.
Fabfour show is fantastic! I recommend you 100 % . The Crest theater is so gorgeous! I spend a god time there
Best small venue, saw The Kingston Trio and Gordon Lightfoot there. Fabulous place.
Havent been here in years and so disapointed. Was charged top shelf for gutter drinks. Charged top dollar for front row but let general admission to the stage area.No nonitors/speakers for front row. sound was horrible. Place still looked great but the experience was Whack.
INDIA ARIE was the entertainment for the evening. The facility was well kempt art decco style. Just big enough to host a good crowd giving it an intimate club like atmosphere .. cozy. I enjoyed myself there.
Amazing theater. I dont know when the theater was made, but I know its a historic building, and if so, THAT 1920 THEATER IS AMAZING
Great old theater with that awesome retro vibe. Love the fact thst they play older mivues here too. Very nice to be able to see a movie frim your childhood on the big screen again. Or, to take your parents to see one from back in the day.
I have seen many concerts and movies here. The art deco interior is awesome and the location is close to tons of great dining and after hours entertainment. Highly recommend seeing a classic film here, they play them all the time!!
I loved the venue. Its a beautiful theatre. The food and service was disappointing. Ill go back again but will eat elsewhere.
We just watched The Godfather. $22 for 2 people and a medium popcorn. Great value
Attended the Rick Steves presentation, sponsored by the Sacramento PBS station, this past Wednesday evening at the Crest Theatre. The Crest is a beautifully restored art deco venue.
Beautiful old theater and great place to see a show.
Amazing venue! Great views from any seat!
Classically beautiful. Old school awesomeness. The shows are fun too.
A beautiful old theatre. Saw Preacher Lawson. It was a great show by an up and coming comedian!
Very lovely, very intimate setting. Listening to Deepak Chopra was awesome, but I cant imagine seeing a concert! The chairs were so uncomfortable, but the staff was excellent!
Built for sound and youll love every second of it!!! Not a bad seat in the house!!! Recently saw Aaron Neville and Damien Escobar upon their return be sure to check them out youll be glad you did and tell a friend!!!️️️
This beautiful and historic building is such a gem in the crown of our Capitol City, Sacramento CA. Hosting both live music and movie nights, in the thriving heart of downtown this venue should be seen by visitors and locals alike.
If everyone do gos to the crest, please take a good look at the floor and fine out how clear it is. I cleaned the floor better than others person who do clean it up. I was there from the year of 1973-1993. My boss hade to let me go do to the VA.gov. I still havent for got my first job there. My date is 11-3-19
I have never been so distracted between the beauty of a venue and the enjoyment of the music. The Crest is on my list of go to venues in the future. It is intimate, the staff is so kind, and there is an understanding among all that one is in a historical place enjoying the moment.
Beautiful theater, helpful staff and comfortable seats. Sound system was perfect too. Parking was close and price was reasonable as well as restaurants. Will definitely return for future shows.
Nice older theater on the inside. Side note the front entrance right outside smelled really bad. But nice on the inside.
Comfortable chairs, great location, parking garage, good mgmt!!
This theater has been restored to its glory days and is a great place to watch a show
Nice concert venue. Please replace the two tall trees adjacent to the landmark sign
When I hear about an exciting event coming up, Im even more excited when its coming to the Crest! Its small enough that theres not a bad seat in the house and the house is beautiful!
Throughly enjoyed the concert and setting
So quaint and beautiful. Love seeing movies and live shows here.
Just saw the Alfred Hitchcock movie, Rear Window, last night. It was really cool to see a classic movie in such a beautiful classic theater. The vibe really brings you back to a different time. Just a beautiful building with classic decor.
Wonderful venue, art deco theater. Absolutely beautiful. I like the lower level aisle seats, so I can dance.
Buk Buk Big Ups plus the Eraserhead.. Classic
This beauty stands the test of time. The staff is always pleasant and dont miss their popcorn.
Classic art deco theatre. Great atmosphere, friendly staff.
Enjoyable, varied programs. Ive seen John Mulvaney and J.C. Superstar.
No seating prior to payment. No seating for 2 people to sit next to each other. No refunds when seating is unavailable. Ive been coming here for 19yrs...go f yourself. Will never be back
Oh, I dont think I can say enough good things about this place. Very San Francisco vintage feel. Ornate designs and blue lighting. Nice seating, great sound. They serve snacks, beer, and wine. I have seen speaches, movies, and shows here. I am so glad Sacramento has this place. No GA. All seating. Choose wisely.
Was probably a classic theatre back in the day...restored..now home to great acts in intimate setting...good acoustics...just saw the Fleetwood Mac cover band....have seen Tommy Castro, Greg Almond, and Elvin Bishop here too...all good.
The only issue I have is the lack of leg room. Had to stand to let anyone pass by, but other than that, it was a great time.
Beautiful restored old theatre! Saw movie The Dark Crystal.
Love the art Deco design . Yesterdays charm and ambiance
Very, very cool place to see a show in Sac. Just a great venue.
So pretty.. Seats are small ans close together. But love that old charm
Love that this theater is saved and still in place however it is so run down that I fear I will not last long. Seats some of the are missing the wood arm rest, and seat room and comfort are going to be quite bad becoming quite like a bad coach flight for three hours. I enjoy the movies and shows I have been to here yet I think I may not return again.
Easy to get to, beautiful inside, good concessions, just be prepared to wait in line for them a little.
Great old retro theatre! Comfortable seats, yummy popcorn. Good acoustics!
Great theater for a variety of events.Ive seen everything from films, to concerts to piff the magic dragon.
Its a grand old Dame and a great small venu place.
The classic moulding and decoration throughout the theatre is beautiful. The folks bringin films like Labyrinth are kind community minded. Great experience!
Beautiful old movie palace turned into a concert venue. The decor is art deco and even the artist remarked mid-set about the beauty. Seating was comfortable enough but the seating pattern was a bit obtuse. The lack of ushers made finding our seats a small adventure.
