Its always a good time! Comfy seats that have enough room to seat most people comfortably and they also have designated handicap accessible seating . Park across the theatre walkway. Great selection or drinks and they have popcorn and candy too. Buy tickets online or get them at the door.

Nice theater with the well touted oversized IMAX screen touted for its ability to show both 3D and conventional films. Shows a mix of conventional blockbusters and quirky educational films. The only drawback is the complicated parking situation. Expect to have to pay for parking and walk a few blocks to reach the theater. Recommended.

I love this place because for screen size and sound, it is the ultimate experience. Ive been coming here for 20 years. To totally immerse yourself in a movie experience for something youre really interested in, come here if its playing. Seat are old school so you will have to say excuse me for your uncomfortable journey to the restroom! Finally they serve beer and wine here so thats good!

One of the best IMAX theaters in the state. Massive curved screen, exceptional audio and decent seats. The only real negative is parking. The garage 50 feet away is ridiculously priced and on street parking is tough to find. Still it offers an experience you wont get in most of the new residential IMAX theaters with screens half the size and audio thats not even close to the quality Esquire offers.

Very comfortable seating and excellent atmosphere.The in theater experience makes you feel like your in the movie.Tickets here are quite expensive though so be prepared to pay more than usual to see a flick.

I attended the IMAX theater for a private event. We had some audio-visual difficulties but the staff were able to quickly and promptly resolve them. for a live presentation by speaker on a microphone hooked up to a slideshow on the IMAX screen I thought it was amazing. There are no bad seats in the entire theater, like one would expect for IMAX, and I think we will definitely be hosting more events there in the future. Maybe one of these days Ill actually get in for a movie!

My niece won tickets to see 1917. Great movie.The theater is downtown. There is a parking garage right next to the theater or you can walk a block and park at the meter.As you walk in to the left are some tables and the concession stand is right in front of you.They have the typical movie food items and drinks.We had a small free popcorn from the radio station so we shared.They have a condiment table with a few powder flavors for the popcorn such as white cheddar.The IMAX screen is huge. We sat in row F and its just so close for such a huge screen..it made me dizzy. We were told we could not sit in the other rows higher...I dont know why there were only like 10 people in there. I would not go again if I had to sit that close. Its too close for such a large screen.The seats are very comfy. They lean back some or you can rock a bit.I dont see a huge difference in movie quality from regal. I now prefer the regular screen vs the large screen for sure.

Took my nephew to see the Polar Express in 3D! He loved it! We had a blast.

Historic and yet cleanest, nicest, and very modern upgraded theatre. Its a wonderful experience seeing the biggest screen in town. Fun and exciting movie experience!

Wow! What a great place! Its a special tradition for my son and myself. Great seats, great sound and screen. I recommend entering the Hyatt parking garage on 12th. The elevator drops you off staring at the box office. You pre-select your seats online, skip the box office, in fact, and show the ticket on your phone when you are ready to take your seat. Fast, friendly snack bar, plenty of restrooms and I think you can even get a cold beer. Some newer theatres sport electric reclining seats, but we drove past them to get the movie experience tradition we love at the Esquire.

Best Movie theater, Experience is amazing. Sound quality is other worldly, bit small but great over all! Went to watch Maleficent: Mistress Of Evil whole family loved it!

The last time I came here was a decade ago. I still loved it! Bought my son a souvenir penny AND dippin dots. Yea, super awesome. They do validate parking at the Hyatt but I still ended up paying 12.50 for parking. Suicide Squad!! Loved it!!

What a large screen, it is the biggest screen I have seen. Saw Rise of Skywalker 3D. We had a great time.

I love watching movies at IMAX. This theater has good popcorn without additional toppings... of course they have butter, but they also have flavors that you shake on yourself if that floats your boat... and the toppings are free.

Epic movie watching experience. Sound was amazing, screen size and clarity superb. Took me back to my youth when movies seemed grander than the screens in the multi-multiplex are today. I plan to make IMAX my go-to for all “event” movies. Btw - no more expensive than any other cinema. One downside is lobby area and concessions sort of stink. But, that’s not why I go to the movies for anyway.

Hard to find, but well worth it if you have never been. Popcorn was the freshest and best tasting that I have had in forever. It was fantastic. Seats are super comfortable. Snack bar was well stocked and full of helpful people. And its a real imax screen too! Tell your friends, its awesome.

I LOVE coming here! The movies always look and sound AWESOME! Love to watch 3D movies here too! Such clarity! The sound system here is absolutely top notch, I am told that you are surrounded by more than 40 Speakers! Deep sounds such as explosions are just amazing! You would be wise to bring a bit more money as the parking nearby is a bit expensive, but the IMAX Theater will validate your parking ticket to help with the cost! I really recommend this place!!!

Went and saw Ford vs Ferrari and that was a good movie to see on the big IMAX screen.

For us it is about a 45 minute drive to go to Esquire IMAX. Always worth it! Place is awesome. Reserved seating, Big Screen, and Big sound. Cant be beat. One complaint though. When I go to the movies I look forward to popcorn and pink lemon aid. Pop Corn is GOOD. Lemon aid is a big two thumbs down. That is not much to complain about though.

Great experience! Movies are carefully selected and quite amazing. We just watched the one about the lunar landing! I guess the only drawback is that it is quite expensive to go with your whole family - but it is worth it.

Its a great theater, they keep it clean but the seats are way to small. Very uncomfortable.

It was great but my son school went there for field trip and they gave the other schools popcorn and soda but not my sons school that was not fair.

The REAL IMAX experienceIncredible image and audio experience, as would be expected of a true IMAX theater, one of the few with a real IMAX film projector. Pricy, but theres plenty of free parking walking distance away on the weekends, and you should never be buying food from any theater if you dont want to be ripped off. Definitely worth the price, especially with the big blockbusters.

If youve never seen an Imax 3D movie, then you need to. Im not talking about the regular feature length movies that they play in large format, Im talking about the 45 or so minute documentaries that are filmed in 3D with the huge Imax cameras. It is nothing like the 3D movies you may have seen at other theatres that use the red/blue glasses like Avatar (which made people nauseous). This is a whole different animal. I highly recommend putting this easily checked off item on your bucket list.

We thought we could make a movie on a tight schedule and awful traffic, so we bought our tickets online.We were wrong. We were an hour late.This theater allowed us to swap out our tickets for a showing later in the week....AND refunded the difference. We were hoping we could maybe just get tickets to another showing...and they went the extra mile to refund the excess (which we didnt ask for!)Ended up seeing our movie a few days later and the IMAX experience was amazing. Theater is very nice and well maintained. We will be returning simply because of the amazing customer service experience.....but the movie experience was pretty fantastic in its own right.Will be returning often due to this experience

Super clean with ample seating and friendly staff.

The place is very clean and tidy. All of the workers seemed happy and helpful. The seats were nice and comfortable, the sound was amazing, but the seat that we were in was maybe too close or something. My brain had a hard time comprehending some of the 3d effects. Maybe it was the movie. I still really enjoyed Thor Ragnarok, but I think I would have liked it better on a smaller screen.

Great screen/venue. The newer theaters might have better, wider seating, but this is still a great place to catch a movie. Downtown is much more... colorful after sunset, so a theater in the suburbs might be better for a late show (especially with younger kids). But worth the trip for a good movie.

One of the oldest movie theaters in the Sacramento area. Glad to see it has been preserved and now showing movies on an IMAX screen. Comfy seats, stadium seating, now offering beer and wine selections.

IMAX there is like a little nostalgia about it, specially when an empty theater in a new movie, but is a good place to hang out close to the Capitol.

$20 a ticket. $16 for prorated parking ? Ridiculous ! The bathrooms were dirty. I feel violated. Never again.

Only 4 stars because parking here is expensive even with validation. The theater itself is awesome. Great sound matches the huge screen. Great location also, parking garage is connected to building very easy to get to but it is $$$.

Ideal screen size and shape, but the quality is not noticeable better than a newer theater and the sound is always too loud. Seats are no better than elsewhere, tickets are more expensive, and parking downtown is always a chore, normally around half the price of a movie ticket. I think Id rather see a modern movie at a local theater. Not sure if worth it for 3D, however

Theater facilities were great. Location is ideal for a date night. Staffing is rather minimal on random weekdays.

A true Imax experience! After seeing a movie on this Imax screen, I realize that other Imax theaters dont compare. The screen and sound are amazing. The seats allow you to lean back, but they are not full recliners. Although full recliner seats would be nice, I realize that would be quite a renovation, considering how many seats are in the theater. The staff was nice, and the theater was very clean and well maintained. Overall, awesome experience!

It was nice, but why have chairs that recline back, when they wont stay back on their own!? Person I was with, everytime he would put his chair back, guy behind him would kick the back of his chair! Not enough space? Also when a full house, if you put your jacket, purse, popcorn on side of seat, it all falls on the floor. On the better side, big theatre, holds a lot of people & pretty comfortable too.

The best place to watch Movies, Period. Staff is always very helpful, although sometimes scarce. General feel when entering is an older themed theater with the biggest screen ive ever seen. Price is great for what I had gotten out of it. 3D is, put simply, unbeatable. Made me JUMP a few times during Alita: Battle Angel. Building itself is very upkeep, parking g is very expensive though.

I dont go out to movies very often, so when I do, I try my best to go here. Choosing your own seat on the website relieves a lot of stress about getting to the theater early to get good seats. The screen size and audio system are second to none, and most seats are very comfortable. I especially like seeing large action type movies with scenes shot in IMAX (like Star Wars), as the feeling cant be replicated anywhere else. Recently, I saw a movie in 3d, and I consistently wished it was in 2d. Unless the movie was specifically shot for 3d, avoid the gimmick if you can. Prices are higher than surrounding theaters for sure, but the screen and low stress environment make it well worth it.

Big screen you get what you want as far as that goes but they will gouge you for anyting else you buy especially alcohol

Although the film that Id attended was not in their breathtaking 3D in which The IMAX is commonly known, It was still an amazing theatrical experience based on the shear gigantic screen and amazing audio. I cant state this any more, VERY IMPORTANT....Try to sit somewhere in the middle, the Goldielocks area not too close and not too far. Just right!

Went to the Mini French film festival. The theater was a good venue - clean inside theater, bathrooms & lobby. Lobby is fairly small & there was a line before each movie.

The movie experience was good, but it was yesterdays popcorn. We were the first showing of the day. I worked at a theater in high school and am definitely a conneseur of fresh vs day-old. The prices are so costly that day-old should either be discounted or donated and not served.Neither of us wanted to miss any part of the movie to go out and get new popcorn.

This is a small and quaint imax (if imax can be quaint) concessions is pretty fast too. Major drawback? The seats are just... Uncomfortable. Arm rests are oddly sized and just not comfortable as a whole. The experience is cool but for the money Id sacrifice image quality for comfort and just goto DOCO.

Good screen and sound, but the ticket office is terrible, insisting that you show up in person to change anything regarding your order, which is often because of their buggy website. Insist on doing everything over the phone.

I expected the seats to recline and they did ...somewhat. But they wouldnt stay reclined and were very uncomfortable. Not ideal for the 3 hour Avenger movie. The picture was often blurry maybe trying to get too much 3D experience, it took away from the experience. The parking is horrible downtown, but that was expected.

Floor was sticky and there was pop corn everywhere but the movies were great.

I went watch Jurassic World. Did anybody? I loved the big screen. The sound is earth shaking and loud. I also loved the big signs outside. They really catch my imagination. I enjoyed the movie. Im definitely going back

Great place to see Imax movies. Right in the heart of downtown with plenty of parking nearby. Movies are a bit pricey, but on part with typical theaters. The light rail also stops right a block away in case you dont want to drive. Good prices are on part with most theaters, but they do serve alcohol.

Great movie experience.

I went here for a private screening of Black Panther and I got to say, I loved the experience inside of the theater. Outside, there was some trouble with finding parking. If you dont know the area, youll likely end up parking far away or someplace where it is really expensive. Luckily, the IMAX theater has a parking structure close and if you bring in your parking ticket itll get validated and knocks off a few bucks.

This is a well maintained and clean theater. The lobby is a bit small, but well organized to maximize the space without cramping movie goers. Parking is the biggest problem.

Best way to see a movie. Pricey but definitely a great experience.
