They were amazing and super nice. Loved the knowledge and tour. Must visit if your in the area.
My 2 year old loved it! The tour guide was very informative and the miniature train room was so cool! Highly recommend.
Perfect for our 3 year old who loves trains. They have models and full size trains to see.
Very nice setup for viewing. HO scale.
Had a great time. Tremendous amount of History. Would recommend it. Theres parking on the left side of the building.
What a great place to find out some very interesting information about the railroads around Richmond. Staff is excellent and very knowledgeable about all thier exhibitions. The building itself has so much history in it and has been around for a long time. Who would ever know this small building would offer so much. Highly recommend to check this place out.Plus they are a part of a great organization that does train excursions in Dillwyn Virginia. Old Dominion Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society is a fantastic organization with a lot to offer. If you love trains check them out too.
Wonderful people, awesome train exhibit. Go and see all the models and hands on exhibits. Great for anyone who loves trains, and train history. Very low prices and these guys just love trains
We had a great time! We received a highly informative tour from one of the historians there and I learned so much more from him than I would have from the exhibits alone. This is a great place for families to learn about VA history.
You get a guided tour by one of the volunteers and get to climb on some train cars. Definitely place to visit
Wonderful experience for all ages. Can’t recommend enough
Very nice place to visit. The staff is very friendly and they have alot of great things displayed.
Nice collection of Railroad artifacts from Seaboard; Chesapeake and Ohio; Richmond, Fredericksburg, and Potomac; and Southern Railroads. I am really glad I visited.
We went here for Richmond Train Day and we had a great time. They have a nice display of railroad history here. It is definitely worth checking out if you have an interest in trains.
Wonderful place for all ages. Amazingly knowledgeable and friendly staff. Something for everyone in the family.
Choo choo
This place is absolutely delightful. The tour guides are really knowledgeable and passionate about railroads. The exhibits and artifacts are in great condition and the guides wont hesitate to demonstrate the equipment. I would definitely recommend checking out this awesome gem.
Disappointed in this museum. It was not very interactive for my grandchildren. They had a large model train room but only had one train running. The should have more interactive displays for kids.
Had a great time and it help me decide which direction I want to go with my own layout.
What an absolutely wonderful hidden treasure in Richmond! We visited on a Saturday and found several of the gentlemen working there in the station masters quarters, singing happy birthday to one of their own.Calvin gave us the full tour of the museum. He was very knowledgeable, shared many wonderful stories, and gave us a hands-on look at the development of the railway around Richmond. The museums collection is extensive and gives you a great feel for how important the railway systems have been to the area. We spent an hour touring the museum and really enjoyed our time there. Our 4 year old son was mesmerized by the stories, and even our 2 year old stayed focused!I highly recommend the museum: warm, friendly staff, a great collection, and incredibly interesting stories, all in the historic building that once housed the train station.
Very knowledgeable and my son loved the scale layout
Smaller than I expected, but fascinating. The docents were very friendly, knowledgeable, and enthusiastic. The outdoor display included a small locomotive and a fairly well restored caboose. The model train layout was also very interesting.Recommended for a train enthusiast.
My boyscouts had fun! Thank you!
Pay the $. Get an elder train addict to answer your every question. Very cool. Very informative. Ask why there are so many tracks into Richmond.
Wonderful place for children, its small, but the model train room will keep them amazed.
Small but intense if you are into it.
Had a nice time and the tour was very informative, about 1.5 hrs
Very knowledgeable guides with lots of stories. In a congested area of town but once youre inside you forget all about it. Plenty of parking on site.
Loved this place! They also had older volunteers that were very knowledgeable concerning displays and old antique railroad items. Their model train display was awesome to view.
Great place to take your kids to learn about the steam train and its history. Very cool.
We had a great time here one must visit this place for sure.
Very interesting info and kids loved the trains!
No much for the 10 dollars for adults just thought there would be more
Very informative, fun visual scavenger hunt on their model rail setup. And its free! Suggested donations are welcome of course.
This place is a hidden gem! The people are absolutely awesome! They really make it interesting by sharing their knowledge freely. Kids like going here to climb on the old rail cars, Be sure to check website to make sure they are open before you go.
Relaxed family fun
Staff was a little awkward and didnt say much on the tour. model train town was very detailed an fun to walk around to look at
