We were here for a wedding. Very neat & beautiful venue. Great place for pictures! Enjoy the beauty of it all. Love the outside back area/garden.

We could only see the first floor. It is an amazing, huge tudor inspired home with an architectural pedigree. Its cool. We wanted to see more of it.

Those 2 Sundays a power wash crew was blasting the art off the monuments. Very interesting endeavor!

This is not an architecture museum. There is a very small first floor area with several pieces of art and the otherwise empty rooms of an old house. Little to appeal to those expecting presentation of exhibits or discussions regarding architecture.

Not a single skyscraper in there, I was expecting the empire state building, this is just like the time I went to the museum of air and space, and there was no space shuttles, ANGRY

The museum is the building itself and is worth exploring for its interesting architectural features. But it also does have exhibits and the last one there was better than anything the VMFA had to offer so far this year. Coloratura furniture. The first two photos attached are closeups of the artwork that was painted on one of the pieces. The other photos are of the pieces that were on display.

It was a nice old house but you only get to see the first floor and it’s absolutely empty. Would be a nice place for a catered event though.

Beautiful architecture. Wouldve been neat to see it furnished in a way somewhat similar to the way it mightve been originally. Tour guide didnt seem to be extremely knowledgeable. Wish more rooms were open. Would be a great place to host special events.

This is a local museum and the modern Italian furniture show was very nice. It is a small museum so it is easily walkable.

The architecture and design within the building was interesting. However I was expecting a bit more. There could have been more explaining the architecture throughout the building. Some more interior designing wouldve allowed experiencing the architecture in innovative ways. The gallery was being used to display the entrants of a childrens design completion. Actually that was great. I love seeing community involvement.I would say dont write it off. The Branch is shooting signs that there is reconstruction and remodeling occurring. It should warrant a visit when spending time visiting there local museums.

I’m not so sure if we visited this place in the right way... there are only 3 places that you can visit and one of them is the reception room... we literally took less than 5 mins to look at some furniture...

After visiting John Marshalls house and the Maymont Mansion this house was a strong disappointment. Basically you see some craftsmanship on the ceilings and some doors. Museum ($5) consists of one small room and tour (+$5) takes you to 2nd & 3rd floors hallways.

First off, I did not go on a tour.Secondly, there were parts of the museum under renovation until, supposedly, the end of Summer 2018.With these two caveats in mind, I enjoyed my visit, but it was a little dull. The temporary gallery exhibition was quite interesting. Their reading section was comfy and extensive as far as architecture reading material goes.It is a somewhat niche museum, I suppose.I enjoyed how I could freely explore the house, but the overall visitor experience seems to be lacking.I’m glad I went. It’s definitely a must if you want to fully grasp Richmond history.I probably will not go again, though.

Nice little gem of Richmond. Old detailed masonry and brick work. Everything inside is huge over-the-top design. Plenty of space to hold an event or wedding. I can see kids of all ages enjoying tour of the 27,000sqft house.

I visited the Branch Museum of Architecture and Design. In my opinion, there was nothing there of any interest. The building itself was cool to look at, but you’re best off doing that from the outside. The only things inside are grainy pictures and the story of the owners of the house who were of inherited wealth. They collected items which aren’t there and did nothing to make any significant mark on history. To say this is a museum of architecture and design seems misleading to me.

Not a whole lot to look at, but somewhat interesting. Perhaps worth the trip if you’re in the neighborhood. $5 admission charge as of July 2018 ( in my humble opinion not enough to look at to warrant an admission fee )

The Branch Museum of Design and Architecture is a beautiful building, a perfect example of Tudor Revival. The museum itself is not a museum at all. There are was one architectual drawing, but really no drawings or designs besides that. It would be a perfect place for exhibitions and I understand that its a good place to have a wedding.Perhaps the city of Richmond could find some money to help the museum with more restoration to bring the house back to what it was like in the early 20th century.

Historically and architecturally amazing and a must see but you have to look past the present day cheap furnishings that are used by the present owner as this is headquarters for the ACA. The 3rd story, servant quarters is mostly individual offices that are closed off and there is a 20 foot conference room table in Beulah Branchs bedroom . The original furnishings exist and are stored away by the VMFA. The tour guide was probably a young VCU student who was reading or should I say stumbling through, verbatim, a sheet of paper on the history of this magnificent house. I could have done a better job without any notes. If this was your job, wouldnt you study the history and not read it from a sheet of paper? Its no excuse that the tour was only $10.00. I would volunteer and do this job for $0.00. How is the student learning anything? She wasnt feeling it. I felt every social gathering, every quiet moment and every business deal that the Branchs felt, while I was in there. Thank goodness I didnt rely in the guide for that. Read up on the history, then take the tour. Thats my take on it but definitely go see this amazing structure.

There are 63 rooms... of which you can apparently currently visit 3 for the price of admission ($5). It appears that most of the remaining rooms consist of modernized space not accessible to the public.

I have only photographed a wedding at this location once so far, but it was by far one of my favorite venues. Brides and grooms will love this venue if they choose to have their wedding there. The whole building is filled with beautiful furniture and great styling, and there is a lot of space to accommodate a large number of guests. The house staff were a pleasure to work with as well.
