The view of the historic rising of the river was amazing. I actually walked across the turbulent waters on the trail bridge. I felt the power of the water like a bass stereo intertwine with every muscle and cell of my body. Humungous trees and logs were carried through the James River. The bridge floor rattled and some screws were unscrewing upward from the water pressure. A couples dogs were unnerved at certain points along the walk. Animals had fear of the approaching the edges. True I had natural fear of the power of the water but trust that the bridge construction was at its best. Technology is great and Richmond, Virginia is on top of its advancement with it. The train had more than 200 trailers attached. It moved slow and steady. The water was master now. All in all Im blessed to see the historic event in this adventurous way.
Came here for the first time for the Folk Festival, figuring it would be easier to park and cross the bridge to Browns isle. Well lit, smooth walkways, great views, overall very pleasant experience going through here. 3 hour limit on parking according to a posted sign, I couldnt tell you how well thats enforced but good to keep in mind.
Wonderful scenery if your choosing to view the site at night or in the morning with someone you care about.
Good parking lot a little hard to get too.
Sweet climbing wall in downtown Richmond. Nice brewery right behind the parking lot too. Some bolts are a little sketchy, but overall seems in good shape. Fun climbs for any skill level
Very nice area people that climb there are very knowledgeable and always willing to help
This is a well designed trail. The views of the city are simply wonderful! There were plenty of people enjoying a nice Sunday stroll like me, or a brisk run, or just fun family time. I left my phone in the car so I wouldnt be distracted by technology, but I sure wish I couldve taken some pictures of the sunset, the skyline, and the river!
Kind of tricky with google maps direction, it falls on the left on the side of the main road so you should not make a turn into another road but the parking spot itself. Best place to park if you’re trying to get to the T. Tyler Potterfield walking bridge and overlook as well!
Saw this place when we where doing the canal walk. Pretty cool, love RVA!
The James River is awesome. There are so many things to do...like hiking and climbing walls!
The car fit perfectly into the space, and it stayed there the entire time we were walking the floodwall. Other parking areas (and i think you know who you are ) would do well to take notes and emulate.
A beautiful place to go for a walk, ride a bike and climb the truth an incredible place
I didnt use the climbing wall, I walked the floodwall trail and across the bridge over the James. Great place for walking, very cool view of the river and the city.
Beautiful view of the James River, walking trail and a nice parking area.
I love this place. It always brings me to peace.
Nice place to sit and think! Or take the kids... Very romantic scenery..
Its a parking lot. Its decently lit at night and super convenient to park and ride your bike down to Browns Island or Belle Isle.
Small parking lot is very popular with joggers, walkers, and locals. Has access to pedestrian bridge over the James River. Best look out spots to get a view of downtown Richmond too!
Turtles so many Turtles!
Cool, understated place for rock climbing close to the downtown metro RVA area. A neat off the beaten path place. Pack a picnic lunch - you can find a few spots in town that will show you how to climb and repel - it is not super high, but fun.
Convenient parking to access climbing wall.
Its a great place to climb and I love it.
Awesome city views, and the climbing (though its an old man-made wall) is some of the best in central VA.
RVA doing it right.
Fun walking area and nice scenery
Long great walk
I enjoyed my afternoon. With a great friend this afternoon.
Small, can be crowded on a nice day.
Great place to climb outdoors . Be careful of snakes on Pier two.
Pretty city view if you are not a climber.
