This is a hidden gem in a Utah County. Hikes and restrooms up the canyon. Rapid place to ride a mountain bike. A picnic table with a view that only a helicopter should be able to enjoy. And nightly sunsets you have to experience to believe. Just when I don’t think it can get any better, someone left small paintings around just Incase someone else needed a little bit extra that day. I am thankful I am alive because of places like this. Quiet and unassuming, serene yet bold, and exotically enchanting but close by.

Cool disc course, very hilly and not super good for new players. Definitely doable for newbies though. Amazing views, nice trails, well maintained. I went on a very nice weather Saturday and there werent too many people either. Definitely coming back.

Its way different than it was growing up as a child down the street. Cleaner. No homeless people in the old cement foundations at the mouth of the canyon. Facilities. There are some positives. Negatives are there are people there more. They have designed some bike trails and tamed it. Thats less fun. But provo is growing so i suppose it will happen.

This is a great place to go hiking, backpacking, or even mountain biking. It has great access to the Bonneville Shoreline Trail.

This is an underrated canyon so it is not visited nearly as much as its crowded cousin, Rock canyon. The trail up the canyon is very steep but is surrounded by a rugged beauty of soaring, mostly inaccessible peaks. The trail to the right is nice for a short walk (but fades off from construction & does not continue after a while). The trail to the left is Bonneville shoreline trail and is a well-maintained trail leading to the start of the Y-trail.

Easy access, paved parking lot and restroom at trail head. First part of trail (a mile or so) is basically a rocky road, but keep climbing and it becomes more of a trail. It is steep: We gained 2900 ft of elevation in ~3 miles. It was still early May, so there was still quite a bit of snow up at the top and we couldnt make the connection over to an adjacent trail. This is a hiking trail. We were hoping to find more of a running trail, but youre not going to run much of this trail, at least not up. We could only run about 1/3 of the way, I think youd have to be an ultra-runner to run the whole way up. Once you get back up in there, it feels like a different world, like youre hundreds of miles from civilization. Great views!

This park is a beautiful addition to Provos park system. It provides access to yet another scenic vista overlooking Utah Valley, as well as prime hiking trails up Slate Canyon and the Bonneville Shoreline Trail. This park did not exist in my youth, but Im glad it is here now to share with my kids.

This place has one of the best views of Utah Valley, especially at night or when it snows. There are some tables at the entrance and a pavilion for group events or just a nice place to sit on your own. It’s a great place to think, or chat with friends. There are also trails which can be used for walking, hiking, or running.

The Bonneville Shoreline Trail is the perfect place for a short easy hike. From the slate canyon parking lot its about 2 miles to the Y parking lot. There are bees along the trail and theres a beehive in one of the gates you pass through on the trail. If youre allergic to bees I recommend bringing your EpiPen, we always do. Also, watch out for snakes. Ive seen snakes on this trail three days in a row this week Great view of the valley though. The Slate Canyon trail is pretty steep at beginning. It is gorgeous in spring and early summer but can get really hot the later you go in the year. Its a really nice trail for hiking, but I wouldnt recommend going mountain biking here just because of how steep it is and all of the loose rocks, there are much more enjoyable places to go.

Although closed for the season, beautiful hilly area to go and run up some very tall hills. Had one of the hardest workouts of my life right next to it. Beautiful place to watch the sunsets and go on hikes. Keep in mind it is considerably higher than the valley, and you have lesser oxygen. Keep enough water while hiking as it can get very warm.

Nothing too special, but this is a nice place to go and take walks, runs or walk a dog. You can also get a nice view of the valley from the trails. Just be careful if you come here alone at night because Ive seen some not so friendly looking people lurking around after dark.

Awesome park with a beautiful view of the valley. There is a wheelchair accessible pavilion which is a perfect place to watch the sunset for those who arent hiking inclined. For those who do love hiking you can go three routes. I often find myself going out and back because going the full loop is pretty long and difficult.

Its a great place to watch the sunset with a more serious relationship. This location has bathrooms, trails, and parking. Be sure to come early if you are attempting to watch the sunset. Recommend visiting to hike and explore. Fun place to bring friends. Hikes are moderate in difficulty. The trails are muddy in the weather.

Lots of fun! Great place for kids, older people, dogs and anyone who enjoys the outdoors. There is a long hike if you go directly up the crack in the mountain which is very beautiful but can be intense for beginners. The bonniville shoreline trail is much easier. A breathtaking view of all Utah county will be visible from beginning to end! From the parking lot its left and you walk along the fault line. The trail ends at the parking lot to the Y on the mountain side. You could continue your hike up to the Y.

Slate Canyon Park is rather small currently, but now has a paved parking lot, pavilion and seating and official trailhead for Slate Canyon. The views of the city are spectacular, especially at Sunset. As far as I know, there isnt a grassy green space yet, but its a huge improvement over the side of the road that used to be the starting place for adventures up Slate Canyon.
