This was an amazing way to experience Philly! The story tellers were all very enthusiastic, knowledgeable and able to provide some great local suggestions after their story telling. Hard to believe it was all for free!
Love the short stories & the Story tellers!
I love that this is a part of Philly. The city hires theater students to perform in public spaces historical stories in key locations throughout Philly. Theyre hilarious.
Love these stories! Thanks guys!
Our founding city is hot with tourists just weeks after the Democratic National Convention. The Philadelphia Historic Society was genius in creating13 shady benches for animated historical storytime (FREE). We only caught two today, and send special kudos for Rachel our Puerto Rican teller at Christ Church. Our audience for the tale of Fannie and Pierce Butler had a Welshman, New Jerseyite, an elderly African American New Yorker, and me the North Carolinian. Stories are ripe with drama, suspense, and morality, and definitely not just for children! The American stories are not just in the telling, but living in the diverse audiences that come here to learn about our fledgling democracy.
I go all the time in the summer .probably heard every story .one thing it said hours are 6pm to 10pm but that is not correct they are there from about 10 am to 4pm .
