Over the years in Philadelphia I have taken a number of children to Franklin Square. The smaller ones like to go on the jungle gym and the merry-go-round. The bigger ones like to play the miniature golf. I have done a number of birthday parties here. There’s really no big buildings that are open around here. It is a completely open and safe space to let kids run around. Playing games. Throwing balls. During the holiday season, looking at the lights. The miniature golf course could use a good resurfacing but overall a worthwhile challenge.

Beautiful fountain with fun music, little beer garden and food stands available. Love how the mini golf is set up like the city of Philadelphia! Also, went for the Chinese Lantern Festival. The displays appeared to be very old and not in the best shape, but we still had fun. Overall, I would recommend for a cute date night.

There was a non functional bon fire pit. Loved the long benches behind the pits. My mobility scooter access to the pits are unpaved and limited. Lots of leaves on the paths. Weather was excellent. There were many families with young children, a real plus. The light show was short and disappointing. Perhaps, I expected too much.

A quaint park on the edge of Old City that you can bring your family, if youre in the area. Centered by a large fountain, it has good open spots for picnics—snacks, drinks and shakes sold on premises—or you can come and sit with a good book on a park bench, grab a table by the fountain or just relax on the lawn chairs provided. Most weekends have music, live or DJed, even the occasional holiday-inspired event. You can also play mini-golf and they have a carousel for the kiddies too!

Its a great space to go alone or with kids. There is a small burger place and carousel, mini golf, fountain in the middle. Seating is all around the lawn and walking spaces. It is well spaces for social distancing and quiet enough for reading. This is one of the better center city parks, and is still under used, even in the face of the pandemic (where the rest of them are swarmed)

The Chinese lantern festival, still going on until June 30, 2019. Interesting, different. Some Asian food and drink, souvenirs a short cultural show and the lighting displays. Very pretty. One older style display was made of small bottles of colored liquid in front of white lights. Beautiful! $18 admission for adults.

This Japanese lantern Festival event was so beautiful!!! And they had a show with traditional dancing. The lanterns were really big and luminous. The people were very friendly at the gate. There’s lancers you can step on the light up and photo spots. There’s one lantern you could take a picture with that gives you illusion of you wearing wings. They also have a big gigantic heart for a very romantic picture.

Franklin Square us great. There is mini golf, a carousel, and playground. There is a fountain show every 30 minutes. The best part is how cheap the soft serve is. I love all my childhood memories here especially with my grandmother Elizabeth and was most happy to share that with both of my two daughters. My eldest I named after her. The most kindest caring consideratly cleanest park youll ever go to. The part of it they have oldie carousels which the best up to date strongest safest play ground equipment around. The good healthy trees provide the right amount of shade as well a perfect amount of sunshine as well good oxygen and smell of the place all season round, but the fall leaves are so good you want bring some home in a basket and press some in book or gift cards. Or maybe as just good potpourri and definitely good hugh unique pine cones the smell so exellent too! Use them for Thanksgiving and Christmas too! Maybe even spray paint them or brush stroke paints and maybe grab paper and make leaf fossil with crayons to etch the impression on the paper in whatever color you choose or the fall color has change. Its best to do so because they dont last so long and some come gigantic sizes that you would want to etch a souvenir to prove it to them besides taking a picture with a phone. You do it in a fun scientific way! Lmmfgdao I have actually met several times Bill Nye the science guy besides The Philly Fanatic and both 76ers mascots old and new and mostly all the Sesame Street and The Muppets also Jim Hanson himself and Captain Noah also Cheif Halftown! Bunch of times Mr. Rogers and Mister Mcfeely (Speedy Delivery!) and their friends, the trolley & the all the other puppets on the show. Always been LGBT and LGBTQ friendly! People of all nationalities be playing delightfully together!️

Visited Philadelphia during the holidays and made the Lights at Franklin Square a stop on the to-see list. Parking in the area is rough, but we were able to snag a spot close to the mall. The Squares holiday decorations are lovely. Great place to relax and take photos. There are a few small shops selling snacks and hot cocoa in the the park. There is a beer garden as well. There is also mini golf, a carousel and a kiddie train ride available for purchase there. Franklin Square is a nice enough park located at the beginning of Philadelphia’s historic district. It is home to the annual lantern festival and other exhibits throughout the year. It is also home to a children’s playground, a carousel, a Square Burger, public restrooms and a fountain that has nightly light/water shows. Park is clean but the playground is not well maintained. It was safe but a good majority of the swings were out of order during our visit. Lanterns were also left up in the trees although the rest of the display was removed. My kids did have fun on the carousel and tickets were reasonable at $3/ticket.

I had to walk around the building to find her talking and talking to a friend. When she finally took our order she let us know how we were cutting into her social time by her abruptness.
