Seeing the Liberty Bell has long been something I have wanted to do. By the time I got through the history and pictures and saw the bell, I wont lie, I was almost in tears. What this bell represents is amazing. We all want freedom and here in America we have it. It seems like we have forgotten how many people died for it and how precious it is.Waiting in line with us were mostly foreigners, capitavted with American liberty. This bell is something special....let freedom ring!!!
It was free and they were limiting the crowds which was nice. Cant have food, drinks, or pocket knives (ever), and there are no nearby bathrooms or drinking fountains open due to covid.Helpful guide and quite a bit more history and things to look at than I expected. Definitely worth the visit if youre in the area
Was quite thrilled to seeing this piece of history. But what disappointed me was the security requirements to enter this building. If you visit carry little as possible, you are required to remove everything from your pockets and remove your belt so hold on to your pants. A Congressman or Senator got to bypass this ritual by entering thru the rear door by the Bell..
Had a great experience here. The facility is clean and informative. They take every necessessary precaution during the pandemic. We did not have to wait very long, and it was easy to get close up photos of the bell. They way the bell is set up, Independence Halls iconic facade is the backdrop of visitors photos.
I have been to the Liberty Bell probably 30 times in my lifetime and its an absolutely life-changing experience walking through Liberty Hall scene where the declaration of Independence was actually signed with a continental congress met literally and created the freedoms that we enjoy today. however for some crazy insane bizarre what the hell reason they are closed on a Tuesday at 2 pm.
My trip to Philadelphia was planned to see the Liberty Bell (among other tourist sites). I was excited to see it because of its historical significance; furthermore, way back when in elementary school, the Liberty Bell was a large part of Social Studies classes.I was bummed to not be able to see it from a good angle. What I mean by that is the center was closed where people can see it from the front side where the crack is. Online it shows that it is still open for partial hours, but that was not accurate. The only way to see it was from the side through a dirty glass window. My best educated estimate would be an approximate 20’ distance from the window. Another point of view to see it from was from the backside, but that distance was much further than the side window.Overall, I am still happy that I got to see the Liberty Bell. I just wish the hours online were accurate and stated the center was closed.
The exhibit was incredibly informative, about Slave History, which was surprising, but incredible. I highly recommend reading the exhibits. The line to see the bell from inside was about 3 hours long, but they do have views from outside for those that want a much shorter line.
I visited briefly 5 years ago and then again today; I enjoyed the COVID liberty bell experience more, honestly. When I originally came here I remember being corralled like cattle and barely being able to admire the bell. This time I felt like we could take our time and get solo photos. Of course we went mid week so I imagine it gets quite slow on weekends but we only waited maybe 10-15 minutes to get in.
They had great protocols for COVID. The line was long and I didn’t visit this time, but have been before. It of course is an amazing historical site. Philadelphia keeps everything clean and orderly in the Old City.
Great historical tour, had limited numbers in the building due to Covid but that helped allow to view everything without being crowded. Had an exhibit adjacent that showed the footprint of George Washingtons house in Philadelphia and videos showing the story of his slaves.
When we came to tour Independence Hall, we had to stop in at the museum and see the Liberty Bell. It is such an amazing piece of Americanhistory, and the museum is fantastic. I highly recommend stopping at the museum when you visit.
Due to Covid we had to wait for a bit but it was worth it because we got some one on one time with the bell. There is a little museum you walk into first and then at the end you visit the bell. It took us about 20 minutes once inside to read everything and take a picture of the bell.
I loved the social distancing practices as well as the history.
Amazing experience. It is a beautiful experience to walk through the builiding and know better the history. They have a great staff and are very helpfull. The common area and equipment are in great conditions. It is a very nice place. It is a great opportunity to go with your family and/or friends. It is needed to pay and get into a line to get in. Very well located, there are many signs to help you to find the builiding. Choose days out of great crowds so you can enjoy it better. There are buses stop close to the place and where to park around the quarter too. When I went, there was a lot of people. You can stay admiring the bell for too long cause there is a line for it.
National Park Rangers were extremely knowledgeable about the history of Independence Hall founding fathers. Even with the closed exhibits I was a fantastic experience. Centennial Bell rings on the hour, beautiful sound!
We had a great time. The park was beautiful and we even went on a horse and buggy ride around the city. Philadelphia is filled some amazing history.
Good place. Although I visit months ago, it was nice history lessons. The bell has big crack near middle. Didnt know how it stayed together.
Very cool very FREE look at a wonderful part of American history in the heart of Philadelphia. Plenty to read up on how the Liberty Bell came about and how it arrived in Philadelphia and the freedoms that came along with it. Highly recommend visiting Betsy Ross house if you are along this way and Ben Franklins grave site which is right nearby as well.
The bell itself is great. Presentation area was half closed. I would have loved to have seen the rest of the pics in the presentation.
Very cool experience. Despite COVID, very well organized. Didnt wait terribly long.
Couldnt get in but did see the bell from the window. This whole area is beautiful
Very nice exhibit of this historic and iconic treasure.
Quick in and out but historic! Definitely a must do in the area...bonus free entry
Piece of USA history that you should not miss to learn about.I was able to get inside the building that the liberty Bell was actually in despite the fact that the lines were too long. Really fascinating and worth of spending an hour there.Recommend!
Awesome piece of history. Too bad they stopped letting people touch it.
Wait times can get a bit ridiculous but overall a positive experience. It is clean, easy to navigate, there is plenty of security. Great lighting for photo ops
It was closed both days we were in Philly. Also closed were: City Hall, Independence Hall, Independence Visitor Center, National Constitution Center, Betsy Ross house, Benjamin Franklin Museum, the Italian Market, Art museum, Rodin museum. You can see the liberty bell from the outside of the building, the glass is so dirty and had so much condensation, and had some stuff in the way. PLEASE CLEAN IT.
Where else can you get a lesson in history, see an icon of our history, and meet some of the friendliest people you’ll ever find? At Independence Hall, of course!Learning about our history is so intriguing and to see something as large as the bell, puts everything into perspective.
The Liberty bell is famous all over America it was first rung, 1,000s of years ago and is still there to this day you can check it out if you want its in Downtown or Center City Philly the Liberty Bell is also known for its crack which is really cool. If you want you can wait in a really long line and get to see the bell or you can see it from a far distance if you are in the park really cool historic Landmark
Most of the exhibit is outside and easily accessible. To see the crack in the bell you have to wait in a long line and go through security. The memorial about slavery and the plaques about the how the liberty bell was a symbol for the abolitionists and later for the suffrage movement are mostly outside. Very moving.
How could you not love the history of the bell and what it represents all and I mean all have to see it and realize how great the is
Free self-guided tour through a small museum that houses the liberty Bell. It has a number of small artifacts and lots of good information. Get here early because the line can get quite long. If you dont care about getting up close to the bell you can see it from a public sidewalk through large glass windows.
Very cool to see. There are many displays to read about the history.
Love the history of Philadelphia! Cant go wrong with visiting the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall. They werent open because of Covid, but you still get a great look at the bell.
I rated it 3 stars because the virus shut down the facility. You are able to view the bell through a smoked window. Still inspiring because of the history but will be better when were able to walk up to it.
Staff was great. Its an x-ray entrance. Idk what I was expecting from the bell but I thought it was going to be large.
Visited on Labor Day. Inside exhibit was closed due to COVID but the outside view was still nice. The line moved swiftly.
The actual bill was closed off but there was a window where you could take a picture of it. it is highly protected and there are security guards that will give you the background history and talk to you all day about interesting facts
Even though it was closed, you can get good pictures there. Its really awesome
In the city of Brotherly Love and Independence, the Declaration of Independence and U.S. Constitution were both debated and signed inside Independence Hall. Nearby sits the Liberty Bell, an international symbol of liberty.Rumor has it that the infamous crack in the bell occurred while it was ringing for the death of Chief Justice John Marshall in 1835.
People are super nice. I didnt go inside, but just viewed from outside. Lovely area to walk around and view the history and talk about how we got here Lots of historical treasures and original the cobblestone road is cool! Theres pieces of it throughout. Its nice to visualize the old days while walking around.
Lines seems to be moving steady. Not many people but took about 45 minutes. They move in groups of family block
Currently closed for visiting, so only chance to observe is through an exterior window. There is an audio recording available in multiple languages to assist.
It would have 5 stars once COVID is over & you can go inside the building, but at least you can see it through the glass.
Beautiful and historical place.
This is absolutely one of those must see places at least once in your life if you visit Philly.
Pretty cool totally free and everybody was really nice but the bell was a little underwhelming but yeah you got to see the Bell
Fun! Nice park around it. Got a nice history lesson to boot. This may sound odd, but I went in the rain and recommended doing that because it significantly cut down the line!
The most iconic bells on human OR American history on full display in the City of Brotherly Love.
Amazing to be up close to such history. Again another trip you need to make at least once in your life
The staff was awesome answering questions from our out of town guests with polite enthusiasm!
Amazing! Checked one more of my bucket list! Absolute must see for any patriot! God bless the USA
A wonderful symbol. The staff there made sure we felt safely distanced inside the museum.
Go early. Easy parking then. Dont forget to go across the street and learn more.
Awesome to be able to see the liberty bell. Grounds are well kept, and a clean modern building.
Easy access to see the bell. Great historical information inside climate controlled area.
So historical and pretty amazing to be there in see part of History Scott. The history of our great nation. We cant help but take a leap back in time and imagine what it would have been like to be a part of this nation when it was just beginning
A piece of American history. Visiting the Liberty Bell was a great way to spend some time. The center offers a great timeline of the history associated with the Bell. It was amazing to see the many places the Liberty Bell has visited as well as the many causes that it has inspired.
Where to even begin... the rich history of this place is great. There’s just oh so many things to see around here as a history buff.. I could not pass on the opportunity to see her. My only complaint was it was CROWDED! But for a monument like this, it’s to be expected. Great place, truly a must see.
Museum is currently closed due to covid but you are able to see the bell from outside.
Excellent display. Id love to see again after Covid though.
The exhibit is well done and I was very impressed by the National Park representative standing by the Bell. He was very informative and welcoming making sure we knew the best spot for photos and tidbits of information. He truly loves his job. I gained a better understanding of the importance and historical significance of the Liberty bell without being swallowed up in too much reading. Great balance of multimedia and text. Great visit. Can be done in 15-30 minutes. We had no wait through security at about 4 pm on a Monday afternoon.
Need to go back when we can go inside. But nice park. Lots of history.
I came here last last weekend (oct 9-11/20). I thought that Covid would have reduced the crowds some. Boy, was I wrong. I got my picture taken from outside the window and bounced. The line was longer than the building.
Given the historic value of the bell, its understandably that the security check to access the place is a bit tight. The security staff are not there to be friends with you so pardon if they do not engage with the visitors. Nevertheless it took quite some time to enter the exhibit hall so exert patience. The exhibit booths inside was laid out thoughtfully and designed for easy reading and reflection about the past. Learning a little bit about the history would be recommended. But if you have a limited time to go about the hall, then go straight to the main event. The inspiring Liberty Bell is massive and surrounded by... (surprise) lots of visitors angling to get a shot. Its hard to get a clear shot of the bell but do try to take a picture of the bell with the Independence Hall at the background. After the mandatory selfie or souvenir shot you then exit through the door beside the bell.
It was an amazing experience at the liberty bell
Great experience for those who love history. While this is literally a building housing only the bell, its worth reading up on it and making this visit if you find yourself by way of Philadelphia. The line stranded about half way down the block, however it moved very quick. There is a small security check point prior to entry, as in all federal buildings. There is no admission fee, and most surprisingly, no sale of mementos or souvenirs. Its conveniently located in Independence Park, and directly across the street from Independence Hall.
May have been a bit better if the hall was actually open but due to 2020 circumstances you can only view from a window. The general grounds around the exhibit are very clean and the staff is very knowledgeable and helpful.
History is something that really excites me and the history of liberty bell is quite amazing. Just the various stories that you get to hear from the rangers about the bell gives you so much context about the bell. The visit is hassle-free with a security check at the start. Its a well maintained place as well so a really pleasant experience.
I thought I’d have to pay, but I didn’t. It’s free! I was there during a weekday morning, so it wasn’t busy and was quick and easy to go through security at the entrance.Very nice little museum with the Bell inside of it. Can’t touch the bell.
Its the liberty bell. Good job of telling story
I didnt know how much there was to the liberty bell until I visited here. So much great history to it, especially dealing with race and womens suffrage
This is an amazing place. A great historical landmark that is extremely well preserved. The tours were very informative and enjoyable.also has freedom squirrels!!
The great symbol of our American culture.
Really beautiful areaA little upset I didnt get to see the bell, but there are so many other great sites to see.
So much history! Really enjoyed walking around the grounds even though things where closed due to COVID-19. The architecture on the buildings were beautiful!
Really a treat, every time coming here doesnt get old. Great historical information, beautiful grounds. Able to explore on foot, cant beat it. Nice teachable family day in the city.
Everything I hoped for. The park ranger on duty was extremely knowledgeable and helpful.
Pretty short walk through hall explains history about the United States independence. Bell replica has been kept, along with some tv video displays and hoardings. The main attraction is liberty bell which of 17th century half cracked. It’s crowded for photos. They have guides at regular intervals to explain history about bell and independence in detail. A one time watch attraction
It’s was well organized. Important note: go to this place like you would go to an Airport. Security check reminded me of TSA... had to even take my belt of. Worth checking it out though
It is weird to see half of the museums open and with a lot of measures, but not the liberty bell. It is still closed and they have not given any online or other chance of visiting it... a real pity if you visit Philadelphia during covid times...
Let Freedom Ring! “Proclaim Liberty throughout the land” yes indeed... Bling Blinky of Texas Shout Out: God Bless America-My Home Sweet Home.
Its pretty cool to see the bell and take pictures near it
The most AMAZING and important area of this country to see the bell inside this place is very impressive the area is full of museums and lots of old buildings with so much history
PA is always a wonderful state to visit. There are many things to do there. Liberty bell is one of the tourist attraction.
An awesome artifact of the birth of our nation. There is no cost to enter the exhibit. The staff ( park rangers and security officers are pleasant and patient.) There is high security there, magnetometers and hand scanners. If you go put all objects into a jacket pocket or bag and go through the scanners to make everyones life easier.Get there as early as possible the line grew quickly after we got there. Opens at 9 am.Ps. the road between the liberty Bell exhibit and Independence hall is high speed and traffic does not stop so cross at the crosswalks for your safety.
A symbol of liberty. Truly amazing! Well done and insightful exhibit. The Liberty Bell should be on everyones bucket list who wants to see an iconic figure of Americas history.
Liberty and Justice for all. This bell has quite a story to tell. Its not the same as the grey little photo in your 6th grade history book. When you see the real thing, you will feel something really special. You can stand right next to it. Its just an arms length away, but please dont touch. Leading up to the monument, you can see different sections which describe historical fights for liberty and equality among all peoples of America. The fight for equality, liberty, and justice will continue and the bell will remind us that we owe it to our predecessors to continue their battle.
Really get to feel the history behind it and it wasnt crowded. The troopers and rangers were all polite and very helpful for when you get lost
Impressed by the Liberty bell display. Very well organized security and a good location to display the bell. Place is very well maintained and also well organized. Great place to enjoy American History,
Our countrys most symbolic relic next to the declaration of independence, its a sight to see, this massive bell weighs in a little over 1 ton. Its beautifully well kept after so many years being a symbol of the great city of Philadelphia and the United states of America.
Historic! There was a line outside but it moved fairly quickly
It’s awesome! A must see and you can get so close to it!
I thought the monument was open-air but its not, it is protected inside a building so pay attention to the opening hours! You must pass security and metal detector before entering, so make sure you are appropriate in general for it.Its a quick ride but it tells a lot about the history of liberty bell and you must have to add it to your travel itinerary when traveling to Philadelphia!
