I called to see if this place was wheelchair accessible and the person that answer the phone on 11/12/2020 at 12:19pm was very rude and if he didn’t say his name so fast I would post it here. His customer service needs a lot of work!!!! His demeanor has turned me away from wanting to visit with my children. My disabled son is in love with fire trucks and I thought this would be perfect for our day out. To my surprise I was wrong and now I have to figure out how to make up a missed opportunity for him. Hopefully I can revisit this idea of visiting in the future but for now I am completely turned off.
Campos Philly Cheesesteaks loves Firemans Hall
Great history of the Philadelphia Fire Department from Ben Franklin to modern day. Great for kids of all ages
Firemans Hall Museum is an excellent place for the history of the Philadelphia Fire Department, located in the Heart of the Old City Neighborhood in Center City Philadelphia, (The Downtown). Self guided tour. Staff is really nice, any questions they will answer. If you want collectibles they have a great gift ship my favorite is the patch collection. The part that caught my eye was a little display of 9/11.Thank You PFD, GOD Bless!

Really awesome, great history lesson. There is a ton of stuff to look at and read about. Although its free its worth donating when you visit. My favorite part was a story about Ben Franklin dropping a hot coal on his steps and waking up to a house fire and having to jump out a window.
This last minute stop turned out to be the weekend favorite. This little treasure is a short walk down the road from Elfreths Alley. They have a great collection of vintage fire trucks complete with a fire wagon and leather buckets from late 1700 London as well as a cool history of fire fighting in Philly proper and informative memorial remembering 9/11. My favorite was the breathtaking stained glass window upstairs. Dont miss the damaged helmets hanging next to the window to help you fully appreciate the heroism these guys (and now gals) exhibit on a daily basis. It is free to enter but Id strongly encourage you to leave a donation. Definitely one of Philly hidden treasures!
I visited last October and was floored by how amazing and accommodating the staff are! Dan was willing to answer questions and share his knowledge of the fire service which made the experience so much more interesting. Thank you for providing such a cool experience for all of us who are fire enthusiasts. You can take your time walking through the exhibits, or ask the staff to provide a more structured tour. The memorial to the fallen firefighters was absolutely beautiful. Although it may be small, this was one of the best things I saw in Philly. I truly appreciate that this museum exists and I will be encouraging everyone I know to visit when they are in the Philly area. Thank you all for all you do to keep this museum running. They run solely on donations, so please go support our past, present, and future firefighters!
This was one of the best fire museums we have visited. They have 2 floors of exhibits. The first floor has some of the first pumpers that were horse drawn. We enjoyed the old fire hats. So different from today. The 911 tribute to all the fallen firefighters was a sight to see. We found the photo of our local hometown hero quickly as they are all listen in alphabetical order. Upstairs is a child heaven. You can practice making 911 calls. They teach when and when not to make calls. They even teach the information you will need to tell the dispatcher. They also have a walk of costs and boots to try on. Dressing up is always a big hit. Our favorite part the the rescue boat. The big ship steering wheel looking out onto a harbor puts you in charge of the rescue mission. The assortment of firebooks and puzzles was great for keeping children occupied. This was a wonderful experience. Museum is free but we did leave a donation as it was a great experience.
The Museum was Awesome!! The staff open the museum to us the Gold Star Families and were Awesome in their care of our group!!
Very nice display of vintage Fire equipment. Free to tour but they do accept donations. Tribute to 9/11 is moving
We stopped by firemans hall with my 2 kids after living across the street for 2 years and was really happy we finally came! Fireman Danny was amazing and showed us around all the incredible fire engines and described what all the different trucks did. We had a great time!
Awesome place to go toThey even sell fire patchesIf you dont know what fire patches are they are things that firemen where on there uniforms
Went in on the first Friday of month since it is free. Very informative. Friendly staff.
Great place to visit and see all the centuries of fireman memorabilia with its history. Ive grown a greater appreciation for all firemen.
Great for history and firemen alike. Hard to believe how far weve come. Been there several times and find something new every time.
Amazing amount of history and knowledge in a space that uses every square inch well.
Good piece of history on the Philadelphia fire department. No admission cost, just a donation. Loved it
Always a great visit! Youll learn the history of the Philadelphia Fire Department and firefighting! The men who work there are extremely knowledgeable and helpful!
Enjoyable self guided museum with many artifacts. Unique history of fire houses throughout the years and many old fire trucks. Also has a mock up of the fire boats used. There is a momorial for 9/11 and a section from the Pentagon. My favorite part was the 3D stained glass window. Its free to go, they just ask for a donation to help keep it open. My husband and I had a special treat, Danny walked us through a bunch of areas and gave some background and context, it was awesome- thank you Danny!!
Its a nice little peek into the history of how firefighting has evolved
Displays of historical fire engines from several eras and other Philadelphia firehouse equipment and markers. No admission fee, but they request a donation. Fun.
Love this museum if you want to know all about fire trucks
Free to the public, staffed by actual firemen. Great place to see where weve been to where we are.
Visiting from the west coast and made a quick stop in Philadelphia. Saw they closed at 4pm so I literally ran from Liberty Square to buy some shirts. Walked up at 353pm and they had already locked up and were turning off the lights. No one answered when I hit the buzzer at the door. Not good business practice.
Old 3 story firehouse converted to museum near Penns landing. Nice collection of horse drawn apparatus, fire marks, axes and tools and gear. History of the department. ADA accessible. Plan on 2 hours to tour it.
This is a very nice place to learn some history and see vintage fire equipment
Some pretty cool firefighter stuff in there.
Great place. Being a retired firefighter I enjoyed the atmosphere.
Went about 5 years ago. Very knowledgeable. I am a Cairns, these guys made me feel like a rock star as we walked through the exhibits and they pointed out all the Cairns & Bros. equipment. Thank you guys!
Really cool kids get to try on firefighter outfits and play dress up
Great place to go if you are a firefighter in Pennsylvania or anywhere or anywhere else in the v United States has a great deal of respect the members that have been lost by the Philadelphia fire department.
Excellent Fire museum. Very well done. The nations oldest fire department is rich with history and the museum presents it very nicely.
Very small museum. Nice displays. Free
What a really cool place! Like being in a time warp! Loved learning about how things used to be done back in the day!
The museum is free but you can donate at the entrance. I donated $1 as I came in and on my way out I added another $5 because I was so impressed by the place. Its two floors, the staff is friendly and knowledgeable, and the museum has all sorts of interesting items, from entire fire trucks to tiny fire marks. Its also a great place for kids. They have a section on the 2nd floor where you can dress up as a firefighter!
Well, I didnt get to go inside because it wasnt open yet. I will revisit again during visiting hours.
Small place but neat and orderly with lots of old fire fighting equipment.
Beautiful free, firefighters museum. A must see if your in Philadelphia.
Definitely worth visiting. Lots of amazing artifacts especially on the 2nd floor. They could probably charge $5 and Id still be willing to go.
Very nice museum, a definite highlight of the city.
Beautiful stain glass window...
Highly recommended museum. First floor houses a good collection antique fire fighting vehicles and equipment. Second floor is a must visit where one learns about the long history of the pioneering fire force in Philadelphia. One of the earliest cities to have professionals fighting fires.
Great place, glad to have found it. Worth a visit any day of the week. Would love to see a few more interactive exhibits for kids. Thanks.
An excellent place to visit if youre interested in firefighting and/or the history of Philadelphia. Im an emergency management major and Im always up for viewing such exhibits. Perhaps my only complaint is that the place is a tad bit too small for all of the items they have on display. Despite this, its still a great little museum - well maintained and with a wide array of Philadelphia F.D. artifacts.
Loved seeing all of the history of firemen. Great place to add to your list of you are exploring some of the nearby sites
Great place to visit in Philly. Free to the public and so much history
Great plane to visit.
A hidden historic jem in Philadelphia. Costs only as Much as you would like to donate to keep it open. Well preserved artifacts and and firehouse.
Loved the place and its free. Its a bit smaller than other muesuems. But kids enjoy it. There are fireman outfits for trying and puzzles and board games for kids to play. Also the store has really great fireman toys. Must visit atleast once..
Very informative. Took my summer camp there and they loved it.
Good place for a visit.
Good to go with little kids like fire trucks.
This is one of the most underhyped museums, but it is worth a visit. Great artifacts & great history lesson.
No charge to enter; lots of historical information and actual firefighting equipment.
Very good museum, lots to see
We walked over from our hotel to find the museum closed within its posted hours.
Great little free museum. I was surprised they had exhibits and kid friendly stuff here for no admission fees.

So awe inspiring!
Great place friendly staff.
Great museum with entry by donation. Nice historical exhibits. Friendly staff.
Such a cool collection! Its worth dropping by for a quick tour.
Who knew that such an entertaining museum resided in this corrupt city? My kids liked it more than the Franklin Institute and Art Museum.
No air conditioning makes the place unbearable
Small but right to the point of the beginning of Firemen/Fires including a small Memorial for 9/11. Free but Donations are always needed :)... Worth a trip either way. Handicap Accessible as well.
Fun, especially for the kids.
Friendly,and cool place to visit.

Their web site said that it is open, google maps said that it is open. It was closed. A real deal breaker :(
