Loved this trail. Very peaceful and well kept. Trail was clean and people were friendly (all while continuing to social distance) Beautiful trees as well.

A gem of a park! Quite area, large green open spaces, plenty of shade and sun. Great for kids and families, and for everyone to walk around. The donkeys are also exciting to the kids.

Really nice park with a small kids playground! There is also a walking/bike trail right by the park that is paved. It passes by the Matedeor creek and is approximately 1 mile one way. There is also a donkey farm along the way

One of my fave parks. Tucked away in a residential area, this park goes so far back, it could be a driving fairway. Lined by redwoods, with a shady picnic area along Matadero Creek, its the perfect spot for family picnic or hike along its back trail. The bridge across the creek was built in 1933 and the donkey on the sign is there because it was a pasture for a few of them, many years ago.

Its nice to have such a lost world of nature in the heart of a metropolitan area. The Observatory is a nice place to start, as opposed to the base of the hill, and dont have to worry much about getting lost or overcommitting to a journey longer than anticipated, which is easy to do in that area.

Excellent place for summer creek exploration for toddlers and young preschoolers! Bring water shoes for you and your little one. Water was only 2-3 inches deep today so perfect for the very young ones. Saw two donkeys (heard that you can send letters to them by dropping at the mailbox in front of the barn), and quite a few noisy hens and a rooster. The bike path is popular and rather busy. The play structures are excellent but there was hardly any shade by noon.

A long narrow city park. The north end has some popular playgrounds and gardens. The south end is mostly a bike path out to Gunn High School. No toilets anywhere in the park and the toilets at Gunn are not open to the public.

Lovely neighborhood park ... with donkeys! (Down the bike path a ways from the playground). Perry, the younger of the two, was the model for Shrek. You can get down to Matadero creek from a little access slot, though be on the lookout for poison oak. Theres none on the main path down to the creek, but kids that go scrambling around on the sides may get a surprise. Swings, slides - the usual playground equipment. Nice grassy area for soccer, and in good weather, the Barron Park Association holds festivals and movies on the occasional weekend.
