Its the origin of silicon valley. So many companies were sponsored by Bill and Dave for example Apple. Their generosity and philosophy to encourage and promote others is what made silicon valley what it is today.
Dont expect much of this place. Its just a historic place; there is no tour of the garage, nothing, just a sign, a landmark. Still feels good to know that place changed the course of our century.
This is a view of a garage (rarely open) with nothing more (wait there is a plaque that tells us about the founding of Silicon Valley and how this might be considered the epicenter.
Not sure if it opens randomly to the public but nice to see the birth place.
If you love technology, you will love the history of this place. The Birthplace of Silicon Valley is significant. To understand the impact of these two men on the entire stratosphere of technology is truly overwhelming. If you are reading this review, then Bill and Dave have impacted your life through the medium in which you read this review.
It does feel special to stand by here and realize in 1938 someone built what is Silicon Valley today. I think founders would have a more deep-seated appreciation to this place.
Awesome piece of history. Its closed, but has a powerful aura on it
Its definitely in my all time top 5 garages, possibly even to top 2.
An inconspicuous place, but a witness to the rapid development of science and technology.
Would like to have been able to walk down driveway to the garage.
Nice neighborhood (being Palo Alto, and all). Didnt go in....was I supposed to?
Beautiful neighborhood with many cute houses around. This green painted house, however was allegedly the birthplace of Silicon Valley. Two Stanford students built the first audio oscillator at the one-car garage behind the house, and later founded HP. It was a great experience to feel the spirit of entrepreneurship.
What a piece of history! Quiet, unassuming neighborhood and no crowds!
It is a private residence
The garage where Silicon Valley was born. HPs first office. Palo Alton is a place where single-storey houses are located on the side streets. He writes in the story about the garage and the company in front of the house. It has a historic and interesting feeling.
A good insight into how inspiration can start anywhere.
One of our most amazing landmarks. This is where it all started. Be sure to take a pic by the plaque. This is where Silicon Valley got its start!
The birthplace of silicon valley. Just 1-2minute to take a photo so lets go.But keep quiet please its private.
Must visit place.. as its a legendary place.. how HP started. Since Im from IT field.. it means a lot.
It feels crazy to review a garage, but this is the best one I’ve ever visited. The green paint really adds to the appeal of this place. Obviously the fact this was the birthplace of Silicon Valley is cool, too. Well worth a visit, but don’t get too close because people live here.
You cant get in, but historical enough to visit. Usually you are all alone. Beautiful neighborhood
Amazing to get insights into the lifes of the founding fathers of Silicon Valley!
Peaceful landmark is now a residential property.
Where Silicon Valley started, HP and Disney. Great combination. The rest is history.
Just a inspiring garage, a historical landmark, walking distance from University Avenue. Could be a small museum.
Admittedly, it is cool seeing the garage that was the birth place of silicon valley. Its even cooler learning that its a state monument. But at the end of the day, its just a garage in someones backyard. Some photos here show details of the garages interior. When I went at around 3pm on a Sunday afternoon, the garage was inaccessible. I was able to read the landmark recognition sign and look at the outside.
I WOULD GIVE ZERO STAR IF I COULD.They refuse the let me print a black and white document after I spend $50 to replace black ink!!!!!! They ask me to spend $150 more for color ink before I can print black and white documents.
You cant really go in. But theres a small board marking the place that resulted in the creation of the silicon valley.
There is nothing to do there but see the garage where it all started from outside a fence, but great to see a piece of history and what can come out of a modest garage
Closed driveway gate and posted Do not enter - Private Property despite Fb page saying Open 24 hours.
An important place for the mankind.
Well preserved and presented history of technology
Its a simple house but its history is what matters.
Apparently people live in the house, they got suspicions people visiting landmark maybe they not used to having tourists visit the garage. And looks like I was the only one during the whole day
Birthplace of Silicon Valley! Its simple but incredible.
Great to visit this part of history in a lovely part of town.
Fun little historical location. If youre in the area great photo opportunity.
There is only a small sign outside the house that states it is in the location of the garage and under national trust. Quite underwhelming. But worth visiting if youre in the area.
Its neat history, but closed to the public.
A really breathtaking historical location.
Ordered a HP OfficeJet Pro 8710. As soon as I installed the cartridges, I was prompted to remove and reinstall. I did so, following the prompts and diagrams to the letter. It then said the cartridges needed to be replaced. I tried calling HP customer service, only to discover that HP literally has no customer service line to call. Just a robot answering machine that prompts you to go to their website for technical support questions. I did so, and attempted to navigate all of the canned responses and FAQs, which was an incredible waste of time, as none of the troubleshooting solutions addressed the problem I had. I am left scratching my head with an expensive printer that I just bought, have never used, that doesnt work, with no recourse or help from the company that made it. HP apparently does not stand behind their own products. I guess this is what happens when a big company grows beyond the need for customer satisfaction. Customer service and company integrity fall by the wayside. I am a very unhappy customer.
Really not much there (its a nice street though). And its off the list now
Really nice. And Silicon Valley has a birthplace.
Nice place! Very beautiful!
I visited this out of interest, but dont expect to see anything like a museum, its just a house in a posh residential area. Worth a visit if you are interested in covering historic places.
Great stop for my family.
Its a garage. Every start-up since has needed a garage as an essential element to its founding myth.
I have never been here but isnt it cool that this small garage started a revolution and turned this once sleepy place into a tech hot bed. Every person associated with tech should visit this place and appreciate the role this place played in shaping todays Silicon Valley.
Fun. Nice snapshot of a time and place
Informative description of the Silicon Valley beginning.
Nice but wish it was open to the public.
It is ultimately just a garage. But its still cool to see if you are into the history of it. There is a plaque in the front.
Worth a visit to take a picture and to see where the Silicon Valley was started
So much fun! Its a well-done stop with a historical marker and great open view of the garage. Definitely recommend stopping here.
It’s fabulous to see the place where Hewlett-Packard and Silicon Valley started. The house is beautiful and very well kept.
This is a private residence Not Open to the public please be aware
Its a private property, dont attempt to do inside
Cool site to briefly educate on the history of Silicion Valley. However all you can do is look at the garage. You cant go in and look inside to perhaps learn more. You basically take a picture, read the plaque, and then drive away.
A part of computing history. Very interesting.
Easy parking. Easy to find
This is a historic site, but it is privately owned and not open to the public. You can see the garage at the end of a private driveway, but dont trespass from the public sidewalk. There is a plaque on the private house in front of the garage, but it is far enough from the sidewalk to be difficult to read. I see tour busses drive by here all the time, but there is really nothing to do other than for the tour guide to tell stories about what used to happen in the garage.
It is great to discover how and where Silicon Valley originated. The streets and houses are well maintained and visiting the area is like going back in time; in a nice way.
Great that they preserve this place. Poor neighbors..no privacy.
You cant get in.
Beautiful place, and with a beautiful story.
There is nothing to see here move on people
It’s gated. We could only see from outside of the house.
Like the description says, its very unassuming but its amazing to think what came out of this place! Im inspired!
Cool little piece of Silicon Valley history.
Really neat to see the source of Silicone Valley.
Not much to see. Took it off my bucket list.
Good experiencia
Its pretty cool to see the birthplace of silicon valley buy be aware that you only get to see the garage from behind a fence and theres no way to get any closer.
Where it all began! If you have the support from #StartSe its even better!
Just a garage.. worth going once though.
To say we were thrilled with the way FPA s team and your BDR Solution came through for us is an understatement!
Quite and silent place. Feels good as an software engineer to visit this place.
Somewhat underwhelming as it is a private property but if you have an interest in the history of technology then well worth a visit
It meant something for me, especially I’ve been working in IT industry for more than 16 years.
I was privileged to be invited inside the garage. Definitely a high point in my life as computer/tech geek.
