Pre-Covid this place like the Gamble Gardens further down the road has a charming garden. Much smaller than Gamble but very romantic if you are with the right person or right book. As far as the actual heritage within I have to say that I was not impressed.
Artifacts from the last 100 plus years. A working jukebox. This museum was originally a doctors house and you get to see some of that history. Theres also a model T in the back garage and working printing pressed, going all the way back to gutenburgs model, and showing the evolution. The curators are eager to explain the history of anything you are curious about. Also free! Great museum!
Friendly staff, some great exhibits and great price.
I discovered this museum when I learned of the amazing annual holiday Lego train show. The museum is also a great place to visit. The docents are knowledgeable. There are a number of hands on exhibits for young ones. I was particularly interested in the Erector set exhibit as this toy was invented and manufactured in New Haven, CT where I live. I look forward to returning when the garden is open.
Much more fun than it sounds and than we predicted! We went during the coin operated exhibit, and also toured the house. The people who worked there were knowledgeable, kind, funny, and clearly loved volunteering. The garden and grounds are well maintained, the house is exquisite, and its a rather interesting glimpse into the past. I definitely recommend going!
As a member of BayLUG, our local LEGO group, I am extremely grateful for a place to have our meetings. I also enjoy being a part of the Holiday Show that benefits both our club and the museum. The museum has really cool exhibits that change often and the docents are very knowledgeable and kind. You will learn alot with each and every visit.
Nice museum to spend an hour or so at when you’re in Palo Alto! Admission was free which was appreciated and the exhibits were small but nice!Parking is super easy on the street and you’re within walking distance of the HP garage too.
Very nice place, small but free (except for occasional the special exhibition). Staff is super friendly and helpful.
Lovely garden, very nice staff. One docent walked us around like a private tour. Interesting collection with free admission. Easy to walk to from main shopping area.
For me, this was like finding a hidden gem in Palo Alto. This museum was so full of wonderful antiques and historical information. The museum is free but gladly accepts donations. Every 6 months they change out their main display for something new. We were able to view the phonograph record display and thoroughly enjoyed it. Playing the old music on the two boxes and listening to the old record players play music was delightful. We also enjoy the victory garden outdoors and the old antique car in the garage. The docents are volunteers and were so helpful answering many questions whenever needed. This is definitely a museum worth visiting and going back to over and over again.
This place hosts Bay Area Lego User group. It also hosts the Repair cafe that helps “upcycle” a lot of home appliances and offers fixes for bicycles.
Liked their victory garden a lot. Am building my own at backyard.
Wow! Great neighborhood find. They have an extensive Warehouse even though their display area is the size of a residence. So they rotate their exhibit regularly. Loved the vinyl and jukebox exhibit where you can use the actual machines! Jim gave us a really great tour. Hes a real enthusiast!
Really cool place. Lots of fun and interesting old things from bygone American eras. Parts of the exhibits rotate so looking forward to visiting again and seeing whats new.
Definitely a place you will fall in love if youre curious about Americas history, inventions and how people used to live many years ago.
This place was so cute. Reminded me of my childhood and my grandmas house
Charming museum full of odd and classic artifacts. They currently have a wonderful and pretty comprehensive record player exhibit. In the back, they have an authentic auto garage and type setting printing press.
Nice little museum with limited opening hours. A time machine in history
A teeny postage-sized museum housing adorkable Americana. Micro-playroom in the back with trains and books. A suitable antidote to rain in Palo Alto. Or a super quirky first date!
I love this little museum, set in a converted historic residence. They have carefully curated changing exhibitions and lots to look and try with kids. Even a small play room. Its donation-based. I love to come here.
Neat little museum...the toys exhibit was excellent (Feb 2019)
This off the beaten path museum has a history of its own as well unique galleries, beautiful gardens as well a few music events in the same gardens several times each summer. I highly recommend checking it out where in Palo Alto . Check ahead for hours etc as they change when new exhibits are installed.
Amazing little museum with lots of nice exhibits. Nice playroom where my kids had lot of fun typing on an old typewriter and printing out bills from an old cash register.
Nice little museum with small play room, friendly staff. We really enjoyed the exhibit of Tomas Edisons inventions.
Cool, small museum. Family friendly. Great for a small afternoon adventure with kids.
You have to check this place out!
A lot of old machines from the 40s. This is the old house of a doctor and has plenty of antiques mostly from office days. Interesting way to see how was technology almost 100 years ago.
Very nice display and friendly people working. We had a lovely time with our tour guide Judy and print shop Jack!
Nice little museum with well curated artifacts. Plus, a lovely garden right outside.
They offer a nice view of America in the 50s and before. Interesting to see how they were managing without computers
Awesome interactive mechanical. Jim is an awesome docent.
This just absolutely lovely place. So manu unique little things on various themes. Its a must. And its also free.
I love it. Interesting, friendly and knowledgeable staff
Very nice museum very nice place to go.
Cool early 20th century slice of Life in Palo Alto, with tech.
