Pretty leisurely hike, could definitely spend 3-4 hours here easily. definitely bring a hat and lots of sunscreen as theres very little shade. theres a lake here that looks a little pitiable. fairly dog friendly, but no signs that explicitly say dogs can be off leash (or must be on leash)

Much of lake is dried but good stroll, this would be definitely more scenic post rainy season.. Expect Turkey, Ducks and with luck some Deer..

I guess it’s prettier when the grass is green. Still beautiful when it’s golden. But it’s barely shaded anywhere so if it’s a hot sunny day it’ll be hardly tolerable. View is good on these hilltops, and easy routes for the whole family. The toilet is quite clean. Small parking lot.

Park is small and for the most part on the flat side but you cant beat the location! Parking lot is small and fills up pretty readily. Trails are well maintained and the park is full of geocaching for those of us who enjoy the sport.

Its nice! If you park in the gated area, be sure to get back before the gates close... I got back late and had to call the police to be let out. Took an hour or so for them to arrive, but the night sky was so beautiful even when locked in (way more stars than usually visible!) and the night sounds like crickets and frogs were so nice! Just be sure to follow the timing rules.

My white lab and I run here several times a week. This is one of the few dog friendly parks near Palo Alto thats open to dogs and horses 7 days a week. If you are afraid of dogs, or if you are the kind of person that likes to yell at people for not wearing a mask on wide open lightly used trails, please choose another park.

I live in Palo Alto, and this is a great place to go for a quick jog or walk. I have typically found that the Stanford dish trail is slightly more crowded. So, if you are looking to avoid crowds, this is a good option. Also, it’s pretty close to the Stanford dish trail. The sunsets are beautiful, as you can see in the pictures. There’s a lake that in the neighboring property, which just looks amazing.

One of the few places open by foot or bike during covid-19. Parking is closed as of April 2020. Most people park a few blocks away on the side gravel. Unfortunately entrance areas are a bit crowded. The trail can be quite exposed to the sun. Otherwise this is a very nice trail with rolling hills.

Parking was easy. Hiking is bit difficult on warm (sunny) day because trail doesnt have any trees. The view from the top of the trail is nice.

An easily accessible hiking area in Palo Alto that starts at the base of the foothills and gradually ascends up the hillside. There are a few trails that branch off from one another but it is easy to create your own loop since most rejoin somewhere in the park. About have the landscape is open hillside with incresible Bay views and the other is covered by oak trees which provide great shade from the sun. One of my go to hiking locations and also one of my favorites.

Nice, open trails with views of the Stanford Dish. Some parts are steep, but mostly pretty chill grades. A little crowded, and nobody wearing a mask. You can cover all the trails on a mountain bike in about 1.5 hours.

The hike was lovely. We took the trail to Astradero Lake (my dog and I.) Its a bit drab in the winter but there were many different kinds of birds. We saw quite a few people and Donna and one horse on the trail. If your dog is sensitive to that sort of thing, consider a less trafficked trail. There are restrooms on site as well as a trash can and a water fountain with attachments for filling water bottles and a bowl for dogs. The parking lot is spacious but was almost full when we arrived at 10AM on a Thursday.

Absolute ultimate accessible Preserve. Either hiking or mountain biking provide enchanting experiences! Benefits the soul and the body with a bunch of gentle steeps that will only make you stronger. You might sight rabbits, coyotes, hawks, wild turkeys, and if lucky bigger animals like bobcats and rarely mountain lions. At a pedaling distance from midtown Palo Alto.

Excellent place to hike. There are a lot of trails within this preserve and you can pick your loop depending on how long you prefer to hike. Some of the trails are really really beautiful and scenic. Dogs are allowed as well but should be on leash. At the peak of the trail you get a beautiful partial view of the valley and the bay. You can also buy go mountain biking here on these trails. The parking at the preserve is very limited and you might not find a spot during the weekends. But if you wait for a few mins, people coming back from their hikes might leave and you can find a spot then. Else you can park at the side of street a few meters away from the reserved parking area.Overall good spot to hike during the weekends.

My morning hiking group loves the easy access off 280, sufficient parking on weekdays, and clean bathrooms. The drinking water fountains include a dog level fountain, regular fountain, and water bottle filler. Several trails offer a variety of flat and hilly terrain as well as different lengths of hikes. Not much shade so this is a better choice in late fall, winter, and early spring. Not a good place to hike in the heat of summer. Many hikers were walking dogs on a Tuesday. A few cyclists were on the trails, but the wide trails offer plenty of room to pass. Lovely views of the valley and bay.

First and foremost, get there around 7am-8am if you hope to find parking. Pearson-Arastradero Preserve is great for going on a brisk hike in the morning. Its short enough that you work up a bit of sweat and then go about your other activities when youre done.Adjacent to the main trail there are other trails on which explore. Also look out for the wild Turkey, Snakes, Bobcats, Quails, and other wildlife. This place is a gem in an otherwise urbanized region.
