FRIENDLY STAFF (Esp. Patricia at front desk!), clean, comfy room, on the beach, spacious pool, kiddie pool, hot tub, picnic area, beach chairs and pool floats/towels upon request. Excellent hotel for the money. Plenty of parking. This was our 2nd time staying here, and will be back!

It was clean and quiet. Room was nice bed was extremely comfortable and had a variety of pillows. Everybody was very nice and extremely helpful. The breakfast served daily had a decent variety.

Negative: It needs to updated. Although the rooms were clean they were outdated. Beautiful view of the ocean. Staff was super and very attentive.

Clean hotel and a great value for the area! We stayed beach side and it was awesome views! Hotel staff was pleasant and responded to all requests quickly!! Only issue we ran into was parking but from what we saw most of the hotels in the area have that issue. Would definitely stay there again.

Never again!!! the most dirtiest hotel ive ever been too. the room smelled like mold. the kitchen was infested with roaches. the breakfast was horrible all they had were re heated boiled eggs and re heated grits and gravy absolutely disgusting. over priced!!! spent $207.00 for two nights. i do not recommend this hotel to anyone!!! never again will i return there.

The oceanfront view is amazing!! Loved that view from my room. Stayed 2 nights. Definitely recommend getting oceanfront if you plan to stay here.The mattress was nasty and I used my own sheets to put on top of the bedding they provided. Definitely need to upgrade. I bleached and wiped everything down when I first entered my room.My room key didnt work and I had to go get several more keys before I could get the door open.The price per night was reasonable. Id stay again but dont use the elevator and check the mattress before you sleep.

If you go in knowing this is a low budget hotel, then you cant complain. Its old and outdated... But its decent. Everything was cleaned, beds are comfortable, they offer late check out, the breakfast is actually good. The pool is okay and the location is cool too. The price doesnt always match the amenities but for this trip it did. Will stay here again if we dont have the higher priced hotels in our budget .

Weve been going to Makai for years. The staff is really great but the hotel is crumbling. This was always an economic, decent place to stay. They are currently upgrading something to do with the cable/internet, which they were working on when I was there a week ago. Do yourself a favor and ask about construction before you go. Otherwise, outdated will be the least of your worries. If they would remodel it could be back to an efficient place to stay.

A great place to stay on the beach. Most rooms face the ocean. Quiet and clean. Hot tub, pool, free breakfeast, laundry, soda machines, free parking.

Went for beach vacation came home with fleas, cockroaches everywhere. our legs were covered in red flea bites and the room was filthy and it had mold. I got pink eye. You wouldnt be able to pay me to come back let alone pay you to stay

The staff was polite and the view but the cleanliness was another thing. The mattress had black on it, there was the broom they cleaned up with left inside the room, cigarettes butts everywhere littered on the grounds, and room was cleaned but left unstocked with fresh toiletries and towels upon check in.

My family and I had a wonderful vacation at the Makai. Our rooms were nice and clean, oceanfront with a beautiful view. The staff was very pleasant and helpful. They served a great breakfast. We all loved the pool, nice and clean area and a great size. I loved the fact that there are grills you can use while sitting facing the beach and lounge chairs you have accessible to take onto the beach and relax. This will definitely remain our go to home away from home vacay! Thanks Makai!

I really liked this place. When you drive up you wonder if this is the place for you lol but once you open your door to your ocean front balcony room your amazed! The view was great! Its nice walking out if your room and literally being on the beach. The pool was heated and nice and had a jacuzzi. Housekeeping went above and beyond and were very nice. The desk staff let me stay an extra hour after check out for free because my flight had been cancelled and rescheduled for a later time which I thought was very nice of them. Yes, the furniture is a bit dated but I thought it added to it. The most important thing was it was clean, everything worked and that view....cant beat it!

Its got a hot tub and pool. There is a kitchen in the rooms. You also get free breakfast. Plus rooms are cheap. Best part is its right on the beach. On top of that there are showers down by the beach so you dont have to walk with all that dirt on your feet. I almost forgot they have a kitty pool to for the little ones. This should be at least a 3 if not 4 star rating. I LOVE IT HERE!

If youre looking for something ritzy this may not be your place, your loss though. If you want comfortable Friendly a good location and beautiful view then I suggest checking it out. We had a wonderful time! The Room was cozy the little kitchenettes area which we went ahead and got was well worth it. By picking up part of our food to fix there we were able to order out, walk and shop and just relax. I have every intention of going back. AND the deal breaker (as always) its Yaaya approved!

I will admit upon pulling up to the property I was questioning my reservation there as it looked like it could use a good “going over”. However my 5 night stay there was amazing! The staff was incredible, very quiet from 10pm on and I felt safe there with my son. Yes it could use some fixing cosmetically but the room was clean, beds were comfortable, the view was worth a million bucks and housekeeping went above and beyond. The location couldn’t be beat with several restaurants nearby and close to the freeway. I’m very glad to have stayed there and will stay there again the next time we’re in Daytona!

Never again!!! There was terrible service, the staff was rude. The room smelled like dog pee. The beds were barely made, and were not clean. There was left over dog food in the corners of the room. The environment was dirty. The only good outcome was the ocean view, the beach was right outside our room.

Great customer service, Scott and Patricia were very accommodating and fast on the check in. Price is fare. I had low expectations because of the reviews and I got surprised by how the overall experience was great! The shower is pretty good even though the bathroom is small. Towels could be newer, but they were clean. Bonus: They are super pet friendly ️

Positive: I was very disappointed with the real hotel not pictures I saw before I booked it . Dirty even though it has very good location. Negative: Cleaning,cleaning...... You may get injured and lose your balance when you walk through the hotel.

Well where to start. I arrive to check in and they told me that I had to wait because my room wasnt ready. I knew this wasnt a five-star hotel and didnt expect that but of course the place is held together with paint. No big deal I dont mind because I wasnt expecting a five star hotel. But unfortunately after staying there and waking up the next morning. I went outside to find out if my truck was towed. The night I stayed the parking lot was full around the building so they told me to park across the street in the parking lot. So I did. I come out the next morning to a cleared parking lot and didnt see my vehicle. So I went to the front desk for them to tell me that they towed my vehicle from across the street were they told me to park. I asked for a manager on duty of course Nobodys around to help until Tuesday. So I simply asked them to take care of the bill they looked at me like I was an a****** and kind of shrugged It Off. I had a meeting to go to at 9 and realized when I woke up that the car was gone there was no way of getting to the meeting. They showed no care or interest of getting my car back. They didnt even give a s*** about comping my room since I went through all the BS. If you want to save your money go get another hotel pay the little extra because chances are this place does not have parking. The pool is nice on a better note but it was not worth paying $160 to get towed because the place was over book as the lady said before. I will be trying to contact the manager Tuesday since everybody keeps hanging up on me when I call Ive called six times and each time I was hung up on. Your best bet is just pay the extra money and stay the Hilton or one of the other places around even if it is a s*** Shaq make sure that they have parking and if they dont immediately leave because its $160 for the tow if they tell you to park in the wrong spots. Worst part is there was 7 cars towed from the same spot I was at due to them telling us to park there. Thank you sorry pieces of s***

This place has become absolutely nasty. Stayed a few days last week and never again. Sheets and pillows were stained . The couch in room was so nasty you probably could catch a Disease.Woke up at 1am to leave for home turned on light and was shocked to see all the roaches that were staying with me. Plain and simple this place is absolutely deplorable .Do not stay here unless you enjoy filth

This place was amazing a great stay we stay for the whole weekend from Saturday to Monday and it was the best service we ever had the room was nice the balcony we had Ocean View everything race was very reasonable and we plan on making our stay there again soon thank you Makai mr. And mrs. Jones

I have been to many Hotels all around Florida and I have yet to stay at one this bad. We got two rooms both of the rooms were not clean at all, one of them had food and dirty tooth picks on the floor and it was infested with ants. The other room was a little more clean but the sink had toothpaste all over it and the closet had used towels in it. One morning we woke up and there was a cockroach crawling on the wall. Someone also stole two beach chairs out of our truck in the middle of the night. One night we called down and asked for some more bed sheets and we never got them. The toilets had stains on the seat as well. Overall I would not recommend this hotel.

Worst experience!! Dirty, dirty,dirty. Horrible service. False advertising, no toiletries, did not clean our room or provide towels, toilet paper,etc. Lamp was clearly ripped off wall. Paint ripping everywhere!! Pics on their website mustve been taken MANY, MANY years ago! We enjoyed the beach of course but dreaded going back to the room. Breakfast was just waffles and watered down orange juice. We actually checked out days before our original date of departure because we were so uncomfortable. Had to buy our own tp, towels,etc. Room did not even provide trash cans. The whole building is falling apart. Dont make the same mistake I made and just splurge a bit more and book elsewhere. This place is not worth even passing by. ZERO STARS!!!!

Great place for the price. Some things need renovating but they have started on some rooms. Pictures on the website dont look like the actual place but I will DEFINITELY be back. Wonderful staff and clean!

No real management. Have stayed here many times. Have had many issues. From broken bed to room not being cleaned. They are installing new furniture but are not completing each room before going to the next. I informed Jasmine the manager of a housekeeper named amie that was talking to me about buying her pain meds on the street. I was assured she would take care of it five weeks later she is still there. Rooms have couches so old and stain i wont put my bags on it. I have waited almost three hours for my room 5 weeks in a row. The place is nothing like the old days. If it wasnt for steve and the other young man that does his best to help we would not come back. The owner or owners really need to open their eyes up and see whats really going on. I left my number for them to call me no response. I hope someone will wise up and fix the management problems. It could be a great place again.

Stayed here two times now. Loved the free breakfast get the world famous waffles. Great family vacation at this lodge!

If you are looking for a cheap weekend getaway Maikai is a good choice. The hotel is dated but the rooms were decent and clean. It’s on the beach and has a pool and hot tub as well. The downfall of our stay was the paper thin walls. They allow pets-which is nice for those who like to travel with pets. But those same people leave their pets in their rooms while they go down to the pool/beach..so they do bark all day long. You can hear kids crying in the adjacent rooms and hear full blown conversations being had outside. Also you can hear all traffic as if the windows were actually open. So if you are looking for a quiet and relaxing get away then spend the extra money for somewhere more peaceful.

Staff was very friendly, the rooms were as clean as they could be. There was trash and old furniture all over the place. You could hear everything that happened in the room next to us and outside.

It really was nice being right on the beach but our first room the air didnt work and till we got everything moved to another room it was just a lot of lost time the cleanliness of the room was not up to par but the access to the beach and having a beachside room was really nice and I lost one of my things in the transit of moving from one room to the other so that hasnt been recovered but oh well

Good value for the money ..rooms are clean,comfortable beds and great ocean views. Big pool the hot tub is in between building .by the pool is a nice kid pool.

Check in was a breeze. First off this is a bit of an older hotel. Its showing some age here and there. Im not saying its a bad place though. Get yourself a ocean view room and the view is incredible. My room has a sliding door to the balcony. There is a pool here.Its outdated for sure but still very functional. The room I have has a tile floor. So bring some flops or just keep your shoes on. Its not the hotels fault but being near the beach and sand gets everywhere.There is a microwave and fridge in the room. There is a safe. But no coffee maker, I was disappointed on that one. Oh well.The TV is mounted on the wall and out of the way. Its obviously not your best choice, but if you want to spend $200.00 a night for the same view? There are better but this isnt to bad.

Everything is run down, ripped up, rusted, or missing paint. The ladies in the morning were pleasant, but the lady on the evening shift that checked us in was not very nice, and very short. They charge you a seperate flat resort fee for parking, wifi, and a continental breakfast. The breakfast included old looking biscuits, a few waffles a lady was making, 2 kinds of cereal, cottage cheese, apples, toast, and runny sausage gravy. The beds are uncomfortable, and all you have is a very thin sheet and blanket. Tv is super tiny. The only good thing about this place is, its on the beach. I wouldnt stay here again, Id rather sleep in the car.

Its great for what it is - a beach front vacation spot at one of the lower costs in the area.If you are the kind of person that can handle motels, then this place will work just fine for you.If you are the kind of person who gets in a tizzy because the place needs painting and updating and a whole lot of repairs...... Then I definitely wouldnt recommend it.It was clean enough.It was nice enough.The breakfast was more than I expected.The view is spectacular.The staff were polite and helpful.But its on par with a motel.

Makai is a great place for the price. (If you want perfection- stay at a higher priced option). We live 3 hours away and have stayed many times as a getaway. Right on the beach. The staff is friendly

Stayed here this past weekend, was literally disappointed. We got two rooms with a kitchen in the middle. Both bathrooms were dirty, the shower had hair all over it, the toilets had pee under the seat covers. Stayed there for 3 nights and not once did they clean the rooms. Just on our first night the cleaning lady came in, took our trash out and thats literally it, never saw the cleaning lady again. we had to buy bleach and disinfectant. Asked for toilet paper and never got it. You would think they would try to keep things more sanitized with Covid and everything but nope. Oh, there were also roaches in the restroom.

I loved it was on the beach and the room was cleaned and the beds were very comfortable. I did not like it was a bit outdated and the elevator was small and very slow and the layout of the room could’ve been better

Our Room was absolutely filthy and staff refused to clean or get a manager on phone as well try to charge me a whole day for canceling. Save yourself the hassle and time and dont book here.

The cleaning staff for our room was great. But the overall look of the hotel is old and a little run down. The elevator kept breaking.

Lovely beach, worth the vacation. Amazing wildlife, actually caught fish with my hands. Stayed on the ground floor and it was beat up. Upper floors were in better shape. Typical older Florida hotel, has everything you need but showing its age. The crowd was younger and loud...not the best for families as the crowd is rowdy. If your kiddos are exhausted from the beach, could be ok for families. By the way, eat seafood from Hulls Market...soooo good! Will find another hotel really close in the future, wont be back unless they clean up the place.

Place is FILTHY. Heres a photo of the bed! Not enough towels. Bathroom is so small I can hardly close the door to take a dump!. No carpet on the floor. No coffee maker. Sink which will not hold water. No safety lock on inside of room. Door doesnt close unless you SLAM IT CLOSED! PLACE IS A DUMP!

The saying “you pay for what you get” applies to this place - good rates for ocean view rooms, but that’s about as good as it gets here. The property is not particularly well maintained - saw tape used for repairs in a few spots! Not enough towels for pool, no chairs for beach (they must have all gotten broken because there was a HUGE pile of them out back by the dumpster,) jacuzzi water could have used changing or some chemical shock - water was not very clean - pool was better. Bathroom floors were definitely not mopped anytime recent, no coffee maker in room, as stated in description, and the wifi was very weak. No smoking in rooms, so people using the balconies and flicking the butts down onto the lawn (pretty gross if you are in a main floor room.) Husband was on balcony one morning and the maid “cleaning” the room above us swept the dirt off the balcony! That explained why there was always debris on our railing! The breakfast would be considered good to some but I couldn’t see how any of it had any nutritional value - white bread, biscuits, waffles, canned gravy, canned fruit - each to their own on this one. Positives - the staff we dealt with were very pleasant. The bed must have been new - it was extremely comfortable.

Everyone from Steve who made sure we had a good stay, to Front office staff who proactively answered my questions on past reviews, to Tara who went above and beyond on the holiday with limited cleaning staff to ensure my environment was brought back to perfect for Thanksgiving, to Scooter and the kitchen guys who even made scrabbled eggs off the menu for my kids at breakfast! Even the Maint guys accommodated off the book requests that made my family more comfortable. They really made us feel welcome!

Horrible would not ever stay here again even if it were bought and paid for me..Dirty,Dirty,Dirty, from walls to beds an all.All kinds of Beds and chairs were pilled outside.We checked out early!Tried to make best of things we stayed on beach didnt want to go inside.This place was falling apart and needs to be tore down. Would give 0 stars no joke.

OK so the place is run down, but they keep it clean and fully running. The staff is great and breakfast was more then I expected. My room has a fully stocked kitchen and a great balcony. I feel I got more then I paid for. I will be returning, the beach is beautiful

My experience was this at night it turns into a mad house .the cable has 6 channels place was nasty but for the price i paid i am very happy.

What a wonderful experience. I was hesitant at first because of their 3 star rating.I dont understand why but everyone has different ideas of awesome. Im sure thats why we were able to get a room the day of! Yes the place is older, a little weathered and one can understand why.Once in to the room, it was beautiful, clean and comfortable.The view was outstanding.The staff was so helpful and willing to do what ever necessary to make our stay comfortable.You are rock stars!

The people that work there are very nice. The hotel itself is getting to show its age quite a bit. Not saying its terrible or anything but its definitely needing maintaince. But they were painting and planting while I was there so it looks like theyre working on it. I had a great view ocean view room and the beach was nice. There was no coffee maker in the room? Depressed about that I love coffee in the morning.bMy overall experience was good. But I wouldnt be able to stay there again.

Fridge shelf dosent even fit fridge the beds werent closed on bottom so my cars can get under them. 1 small table wifi only works if you stand next to tv. Small tv not good channels. Blinds didnt have the tool to close them.

We just stayed here March 17th to the 21st. We were on ground floor. Room 126. The corner room.Ive seen reviews about bugs. We had none.Ive seen reviews about dirty floors. Our floor got dirty from us coming in from the beach and the housekeeper was great about cleaning it up.Ive seen reviews about dirty or torn towels and sheets. Ours were very clean, no issues there.Ive seen reviews about housekeepers stealing. We left Nintendos out charging etc. All our belongings were there when we got back.Ive seen reviews about the rooms falling apart.. Ours was fine. No issues.The issues i had..Parking. It was full. People would stand in an empty parking spot to hold it while the other person went to the store or something. Come on.. WTF is wrong with people?The hot water in the shower.. Wasnt really any.And.. People talk about cigarette butts in ground.. Well yes, they are there. Why? Because people are trashy and just throw them down, throw them off their balcony etc. I smoke. I didnt do that. I have common courtesy to dispose of properly. Its not the hotels fault people have no respect.The breakfast wasnt the greatest either.. But its free hotel breakfast. What do you really expect?All in all, we loved our stay there. We were steps from the beach. The room was good, i paid $400 for our stay and Im happy with it.Great views and access to the beach.Would i stay here again? Yes!Included are some of the views from the room and the patio...

The location is wonderful. The grass area outside of the ground floor rooms is so nice. The staff is super friendly. The place is just in some severe need of updating. I understand jt is a pet friendly hotel, but having a bathroom door that has obviously been chewed through by dogs was kinda gross. Our room had pet hair on the sofa and chair.

The hotel looked nothing like the photos!! It has a new paint color, which I did like, but the whole place looked dirty from the outside. Scarce parking and people were told to park across the street. Theyre under construction and had a dumpster in a few parking spaces. The fish tank inside wasnt taken care of either... I ended up paying for a room I never stayed in and went to a nice hotel for about the same price.

My husband & I stayed here 1 other time & it was great but this last time was HORRIBLE my husband was treated so badly & publicity humiliated going to get breakfast by the cook, he was treated like a bum & the cook didn’t ask everyone in the breakfast area if they were guest just only my husband was pointed out & treated poorly! We’ll never stay here again. Watch out for being profiled here by the employees!

Great vacation dont bother bringing a Roku for down time. The internet sucks! save yourself the headache and get a DVD player and movies lol

Pricing was ok only because it is on the beach. Clean is not the forte here. Housekeeping did ok but there were areas that clearly never get cleaned, like the breakfast area. Beds are not comfy. If we had a room with a patio, wed stay here again. Our room was just too small for 4. Beautiful view though.

The owner was great said that Priceline gave me a not so great room he was completely honest and signed me up for a nice quality one for no extra charge was one of the best stays with hot tub pool cute dogs and clean room!!
