This park, is One of my favorite parks in Olympia because every time I walk through I see a smiling, familiar face! Of all walks of life. Cross the street...YUMMY food to eat, cross again and you have BURIAL GROUNDS...yummy coffee and a nice atmosphere, cross another way and if you like architecture one of the most lovely buildings in town, I think a state building. Sun for heat lovers and shade for the rest of us. And a stage for holidays and family fun! Enjoy!
Downtown park. Historically relevant to Olympia. Gazebo in center with triangulated walkways crisscrossing throughout. Smallish. Well maintained by state enterprise services. Closes at dusk. No camping. And drinking fountain was closed long ago. Biggest downfall, no public bathrooms. Pre Covid was final resting place for the lumination parade which was the prelude to the procession of the species, who route passed along the park, pre Covid of course. Also on the route of the pride parade, the pet parade, and lakefare parade.
Beautiful park and I like the location, easy to park !
Great place to go not only by yourself but with the entire family and every now and again there are events held here which is fun for the entire family. I wouldnt go first thing in the morning because of the homeless drug users but anytime after 10 its pretty clear of all that.
Sylvester park is a Beautiful park with a wide variety of people and things to do and talk about!!!!
The gate around the gazebo is useless. Small children can climb over it. They might as well take it down and let people use the gazebo freely as it was intended.
Beautiful park, but theres always people camped out there. They are laying across the benches to sit much of the time. Just my observation, no judgment.
Its a pretty nice park, only down side is the freaks and weirdos are always there
This is a great space in the city, downtown and close to the state Capitol, and you will enjoy the space. It’s also recommended because it is not filled with people experiencing homelessness. Lots of great restaurants around for a quick lunch or dinner.
I attended a couple of live music events here. Parking and access was a challenge, but otherwise, it was clean and a nice park.
With an absolutely gorgeous state building overlooking it, Sylvester Park is a beautiful little nook to go to in the middle of downtown. The grass is well kept and the squirrels are entertaining to watch. The only downfall is the traffic around it and the number of people that set up camp there for various reasons (although they tend to keep to themselves, it can be a bit crowded at times). From time to time, they have small events there at the gazebo in the center of the park which are amusing to attend, although parking can be scarce so be ready for a short jaunt from your car to get to the park.
Not much to do our look at. Just a nice quiet place to chill
There is small sign, watch your step but by the time youve read it youd have already fallen! The very top one is slightly taller and it really catches you off guard hahaha, I tore my pants and had blood on both knees. Also saw another person fall while I was waiting in my car, they spilled their coffee (photo) I wanted to scream out, ME TOO!!! but was too far away and would look like psycho, which isnt too bad since there were already screaming people in the other corner. This park be wild... There is some great stores around there, and a nice vegan restaurant on the west side. 5/10 watch your step..
Its dog friendly and beautiful on a sunny day plus theres a covered gazebo for the rainy ones
It is a great place to sit among the trees, but not very quiet as it is along main streets.
I love this park and it has special meaning from when I first moved to Washington. Unfortunately a lot has changed since 1995 and down town Olympia is not what it was .
Its a great place to go if you want to see strange things
Very beautiful and for oly there is not many beautiful places
Small park in downtown Olympia. Mostly taken over by homelwes and drug adducts. Would not take ny family there.
Some cool events happen here. Especially during the summer
Really beautiful local, definitely a good place to spend some of your afternoon
Awesome during free kids day! So cool how they put this all on for free.
Nice little park but alot of homeless like to gather here as well.
This place is great on a sunny day. A few restaurants in the area to grab food or random stores to walk around. If you go here later in the day, its a fairly popular place for homeless people to camp for the night, so they may have claimed some spots.
This is such a nice quiet peaceful place a great spot to eat lunch.
Beautiful park with gazebo
Music in the Park. Tremendous community gathering place to enjoy outdoor live music. We need more youth performers
My kids love the open area to run
Small little block size park in the middle of downtown. Some shaded areas and some in the sun. No play area for kids and no restrooms
Great urban retreat
Good spot to play pokemon or take adventure pictures
Would be nice if it wasnt constantly over ran by transients
Its a very neat park with beautiful back drops for pics. But now its usually filled with people living there
Quaint little park. Good venue for Music in the park.
It was nice and serene.....
Took part in capital city half marathon and it was a great place to have it
Love the Live Music!! In the middle of DownTown.
This town used to have majestic Trees. Sadly no more.
Very nice, very well kept. Enjoyed it!
Love this little park, with its history and events
The best part of Olympia.
Nice running/walking trail. huge grass area to lounge.
Nice park, good Pokemon gyms, you should visit in a group
Music In The Park never disappoints!
Its a small park in the middle of town. Close to a lot of restaurants. Its a good shortcut. Its really muddy when off the paved areas. Its a really good place to just sit and people watch and drink a cup of coffee and take life in. It seems to be a hotspot for Pokemon go. Occasionally youll see a big cluster of people just standing around staring at their phones. Some local events take place there. Houseless people hang out there too. They dont bother anyone most of them are just sleeping. Its a chill place to be
Nice venue for a community event.
Be careful alot of homeless 20 somethings have started to hang in the park getting inebriated.
Beautiful park in the middle of downtown
Historic and a good pass through park
Nice park right downtown in Oly
Nice park, the homeless seemed very comfortable.
Nice historic park, kept up well. The only down side is the large amount of homeless people. I enjoy the live music events here, and viewing parades at this location. Many events use this location as their main area.
Its a nice park
Not the park of my youth. Houseless grazing area.
Its kind of a bum park, but its a nice place to meet good people and play some guitar. There are concerts in the gazebo and lots of bench. Id consider it an epicenter of Olympia
A great place to picnic...
Well its a beautiful place to visit
Had some fun moments at events at this lovely Oly spot.
I come here frequently, and its a nice place, however there are lots of homeless people that sleep in the park.. kind of notorious for it. But there is a Starbucks nearby!
Good place to pray
The statute in the park is a DX raid pass point for Pokemon Go.
Its a nice park in the middle of the city. Alot.of free events happen in and around this are. Pulse the view of the older buildings are a fun look back at the past.
Was a great time congratulations to all you runners hope you are feeling okay today
This park is Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. If you go during any event or festival you will find a clean green oasis near the capital. Come by in the evening on a regular night and you might find a large aggressive population of homeless or at risk youth flagrantly breaking public drinking or drug laws. Too bad because it is a nice space.
A nice little park to hang out at right in Olympia. Sometimes gets a little bit weird and I would much rather walk the 4-5 blocks to the lakefront park.
The city does a great job of having a ton of events there.
Convenient and well kept.
It was ok only stayed 2hrs had to work
Nice area downtown
Awesome downtown community park similar to many all across America! :)
Peace Day 2019
A fresh breath of cool crisp air in this non smoking park..
Its full if schizophrenic people who talk to themselves and scream all day its not a very safe place to go anymore
Fun music in the park
A very diverse and cultural park and a must see in all events !!!
Nice historic park. Lots of people lay their head down at night in the park. Keeps it interesting.
Right outside my 2nd story window. Pretty park. Lots of homeless.
Music in the Park 39th year. Wednesdays July and August Family friendly.
We wouldve stopped to eat our food from a nearby restaurant but there didnt seem to be anywhere not occupied by homeless.
Music concert is held weekly here and it is quiet nice for those who need relaxing and relief !
Such a beautiful Park so many awesome things to do there
The park where homeless take over.
Need to clean it up. Smells like sh%÷
Pretty place, across from bus station so people sleeping on the lawn is common.
Wish there was a working drinking fountain here
Beautiful park, where most of Olympias homeless hang out during the day.
Nice park, great location, lots of homeless. Im not hating the homeless but this is what happens when we have a broken system where the mention public welfare is almost like swearing I church.
Pretty small as far parks go. There are a considerable amount of homeless people here, usually.
Awesome park good music there on Wednesdays there are bums but they keep to themselves
Cute but lots of homeless people
First, there are a lot homeless people at this park. Actually, all of downtown is infested with drugs and homelessness. Now that thats out of the way, I like buying some ice cream and walking around this small park. There is nothing special about this park, but it has a charm to it.
This is a park where events happen, not so much a park for kids. Im glad we have a nice green space in downtown Olympia.
